Full textThe problem of homeless social integration into society is analyzed in this work. This problem occurred in Lithuania after regaining independency and reforming planar economy into market economy. After sudden economical and social changes production recession showed up, increased unemployment and decreased living standards. As a result part of a society didn’t manage to adapt to changes taking place, therefore a new phenomenon appeared – homeless subculture. Got into this subculture it’s very hard to get out because people adapt and even become accustomed to such life. Homeless have lost their social and professional skills, they can’t resolve their problems on their own, can’t avail of public sector afforded services. Problem of homelessness is topical and studied little in Lithuania. Little attention is given to this problem, there’s lack of objective and reliable information. There is laws released regulating integration of different social groups into society: individuals, which returned from prison, the disabled, risk group families, refugees. However homeless becomes individuals belonging to all social groups, that’s why they should be pointed out as separate group whose social integration was regulated by separate laws. Full textThe aim of this work is to analyse the situation of blind and visually imparred persons integration in society. In this work employments are called one of the most important elements of the social integration. I also research the improvement of blind and visually imparred people, their imployment in society, the law system of Lithuania, institutions that work for the welfore of partialy sighted persons rehabilitation system. Furthemore, I analize personal, social, physical situation, elements that limit the posssiblities of blind and visual imparred persons to integrate into society. I made special survays in order to investigate the employment situation of blind and visual imparred people who live in Vilnius. One hundred blind and visually imparred persons were investigated using the interwiews and also the questionaire method. The main results of my special survays are illustrated with charts and tables in the forth part of the work. After all the results that were analysed I have made conslussions that it is very hard for the blind and visually imparred people to integrate to society because of various reasons: law base, that takes care of partialy sighted people,people wrights and opportunities are created, but there are some imperfections that reduse the employment possibilities, the adaptability for the blind and visully imparred people. Full textApproximately nine million of Romanies live in Europe. European Union states that Romanies are the most vulnerable and deprived of the civil rights nation in Europe. The rationale for vulnerability and deprivation is poor integration to society, poverty, lack of suitable education, social isolation and racist stereotypes, negative attitude in society which obstruct Romanies to seek employment besides there is poor juridical security. Problematic situation of Romanies stays in social Lithuania’s outlook not for the first year. The main problems that Romanies encounter in Lithuania are in employment, residence, education, health fields or accessibility of public services and those which were identified in “The Integration Program of Romany into Lithuanian Society for 2000-2004” still remain. In our society Romanies are identified as problematic group rather than regarded as distinct nation’s members. Influential persons of Romanies community often remain invisible and there is no identifiable leader. On the one hand schoolchild is a social group that should be under special protection and intense care, but on the other hand situation of the protection of children rights got worse and is under close observation. Social adaptation and integration of the victims of the crime is one of the backgrounds to ensure the protection of children rights. The essential points this dissertation are the problems of the victims of the crime that they are facing in the school, analysis of the instruments that are used for social integration and adaptation of the victims of the crime, also analysis of the direction which should be chosen for the reasonable social integration and adaptation of such people and what implementations should be done in order to form a proper legislation of this social problem. Full textThe main object of master's thesis is the refugees in Lithuania. The aim of the master final paper is to explore the integration of refugees into society and to consider the language aspect of the fundamental problems of integration in Lithuania. The aim of this master thesis is to achieve its objectives: 1) to present the culture concepts of integration, refugees, language and culture 2) to reveal the problems of social integration of refugees in Lithuania 3) to examine the fundamental problems of integration, 4) to analyze the language aspect of the integration of refugees in Lithuania 5) to examine the language and culture ratio of the integration process, 6) to review the major integration programs for refugees. Using the scientific literature analytical methods it was concluded that the language training in a foreign country is one of the most successful measure of integration. Language is not only the integration of a public function it also helps you to discover a new country and culture. The study methods used: qualitative expert interviews, qualitative interviews with refugees and the survey. Full textThe work is aimed at presenting analysis of social intergation of Lithuanian Poles' Youth and the role of civic activity in this process. In the fisrt, theoretical part, of the work there are discussed conceptions of the ethnic minority, integration and ethnic identity, This part also includes an analysis of the Lithuanian Poles’ minority, its civic activity and integration. The structure of ethnic identity is complex: it consists of belonging to nation, ethnic consciousness, the language, culture. In the work all these conponents are discussed in detail. An particular attention is payed to the conception of integration and the role of social activity in this process. Previously, people with disabilities in society lived in closed institutions for social life outside. After restoration of independence took place in a number of significant changes. From compassion disabled transition to practical social integration. Throughout Lithuania in favor of persons with disabilities is valid legislation, and employers to employ people with disabilities. However, people with disabilities, a new low motivation to work for a problem that so far has not been considered and is certainly relevant. Qualitative analysis of experience Scientific sources indicate that social integration is a participation in community activities. Study was selected qualitative research approach, semi-structured interviews. Survey data analyzed with a phenomenological analyze. The study interviewed 10 people with disabilities who practice in physical (sports) activities. People with disabilities experience showed that physical (sports) activities affect the most important areas of life for the disabled, such as: physical health, psychological state, social relationships, self-realization, participation in society and its activities. The data confirmed the hypothesis of investigation, the physical disability (sports) activities, no matter what it would have a positive impact on the social integration of people with disabilities into society.

Relevance of the survey – to take a new look at institutions of education, Labor Market Training Centers, Vocational Training Centers in Lithuania, to investigate, what employment and career possibilities have disabled people after graduation of educational programs in these institutions, how the employers qualify preparation for job market. For some time the scientific community, sociologists and analysts are increasingly focusing on analysis of social exclusion and of the problems of persons' social integration. It should be noted that the knowledge and solving of integration problems of socially excluded people to enable marginalized people to better understand their problems and know how to solve them. On the decision of the problem this final work was directed. Integration of socially excluded people is object of the work. The purpose of the work is to evaluate the integration problems of socially excluded people and provide tools and opportunities for their solutions. Full textSummary The social policy experts argue that there is a need to activate the new forms of solidarity, voluntary movement and more effective comunity iniciatives. The most appropriate form is the self – development groups and their associations. The inadequate various professionals’ attention for the clients‘ level of the stress, stigmatization, the worsened social functioning, emotionally negative feelings, the changes of the social status, the inner relationships, the disfunction of the social roles, demand the social worker to manage the highest level in the methodical competence. The methodical action in social work is the intervention to the clients‘ environment, aiming at the personal and the external change that would influence the succesfull future well - being. The self – development groups are one of the most promising methods of social work which helps to correct the relationships with the others, the negative attitude and the behavior models, unconscious needs and feelings. In this way the cocial work clients would be helped to adapt in the foreseeable environment and society. During this decade in Lithuania the amount of the self-development groups is increasing but despite it the society is less informed about it, the groups themselves do not collaborate, are quite closed, the professionals yet are not motivated to integrate them into the social aid for the clients. Full textA theoretical analysis of the social integration of the disabled revealed that the image of social disability of disabled people depends on and is formed by the society’s mass ideology. It has been also noticed that scientific literature considers the social rehabilitation process of the disabled to be a constant, uninterrupted and complex process during which disabled people acquire and develop skills of independent life education. The social rehabilitation process of the disabled has to be integral, meanwhile medical rehabilitation and nongovernmental organization must promote teamwork while providing the disabled with necessary theoretical and practical knowledge which, in turn, forms the image of physical disability in society. A hypothesis was raised that the image of physical disability that specialists providing the disabled with social rehabilitation have affects the effectiveness of cooperation. Full textImplementation of laws and other deeds regulating social integration of individuals released from imprisonment institutions taking the case of Correctional Inspectorate of Akmenė district is analyzed in Bachelor thesis. In theoretical part of the thesis the conceptions of social separation and social integration of individuals released from imprisonment institutions are presented together with conceptions of laws and other deeds, regulating social integration of individuals released from imprisonment institutions. The role of society and state in solving social integration issues of individuals released from imprisonment institutions is revealed. In the research part of the thesis the activities of Correctional Inspectorate of Akmenė district regarding implementation of laws and other deeds regulating social integration of individuals released from imprisonment institutions are analyzed by methods of document analysis, interviews and self-analysis of activities, identifying problems and suggesting solutions to the problems.

Full textAttitude to disabled persons, including deaf persons, is changing in Lithuania in independence period. New law (Act on Social Integration of Disabled Persons, Act on Education) provided more choice alternatives to parents, e.g., now, disabled children can be educated as integrated persons at common education institutions or in a special class/group therein. At present, there are more than 50 institutions in Lithuania educating hearing-impaired children. This process displays many problems; one of them is parents’ readiness for child’s learning, and first, choice of one of the methods. Education possibilities for deaf persons are now higher than ever before. Common high schools are one of the alternatives. Although parents, teachers and politicians show enthusiasm for such attitude enthusiastically, that is not the best teaching method. As far as we know, none of the methods is the only best. The most suitable teaching program is a specific program for each deaf child, because it meets child’s specific needs. In some cases, a common higher school is the right way. Another solution is a special class. Child’s needs might change in several years, and then his learning situation should be changed. Impaired hearing is not expressed externally. Full textEducation of convicts in correctional institutions should become a relevant issue to all society because a negative attitude towards ex-convicts, which has been prevailing for many years, often turns against the society itself. The ex-convict becomes a problem of the society due to subjective and objective reasons, i.e. he/she is unemployed, does not have a dwelling place, he/she has poor education and rather often the relatives of the ex-convict terminate their relations with him/her. Moreover, the psychological state of the ex-prisoner is unstable due to which the situation becomes even more complicated.

Full textDeafness because of thousands of Lithuanian people suffer is not only a personal or family problem. It is a sore problem which should be urgently settled. Even due to slightly impaired hearing a peculiar barrier appears between a deaf person and the society, it is more difficult for him to acquire knowledge and profession, in addition, his mental and social activity is limited. The aforesaid statements encouraged me to write a project under the title “Peculiarities of Social Integration of the Deaf”. The tasks of the project: to analyze documents regulating social integration and education of the persons with impaired hearing; to discuss the peculiarities of integration of the deaf into the labour exchange; to reveal the features of integration of the deaf into the family or social life; to review academic achievements of the deaf. The aim of project is to analyze the peculiarities of social integration of the deaf into social and community life. For achievement of the aim the research in whish 100 respondents with impaired hearing (70 deaf and 30 hearing-impaired) took part was carried out. Kurtumas, dėl kurio kenčia tūkstančiai Lietuvos žmonių yra ne tik asmeninė ar šeimos problema. Tai opi ir skubiai spręstina socialinė problema. Net dėl nelabai pažeistos klausos atsiranda savotiškas barjeras tarp negirdinčiojo asmens ir visuomenės, jam sunkiau įgyti žinių ir profesiją, ribota jo dvasinė ir visuomeninė veikla. Tai paskatino mane rašyti darbą tema: „Kurčiųjų socialinės integracijos ypatumai“. Darbo uždaviniai: išanalizuoti teisinius dokumentus, reglamentuojančius sutrikusios klausos asmenų socialinę integraciją ir ugdymą; aptarti kurčiųjų integracijos į darbo rinką ypatumus; atskleisti kurčiųjų integracijos į šeimą ir visuomeninį gyvenimą bruožus; aptarti kurčiųjų akademinius pasiekimus. Šio darbo tikslas yra – išanalizuoti kurčiųjų socialinės integracijos ypatumus į visuomeninį ir bendruomeninį gyvenimą. Siekiant šio tikslo buvo atliktas tyrimas, kurio metu buvo apklausta 100 klausos negalią turinčių respondentų (70 kurčiųjų ir 30 neprigirdinčiųjų). Respondentais buvo pasirinkti 18-40m. klausos negalią turintys žmonės. Tyrimo metu buvo patvirtinta prieš tyrimą iškelta hipotezė, jog kurtiesiems yra sudėtinga integruotis į visuomeninį ir bendruomeninį gyvenimą. Full textThe model of social policy in Sweden is introduced in this Master‘s research work. Its evolution, the type of welfare state, conditions of formation are defined. The influence is established for social democratic ideology on the social model and for the integration process of unemployed persons. The prevalence of unemployment in Sweden is analysed, the rates are compared with EU. Unemployment reasons and means of unemployment reduction are considered. It was concluded, that the corner stone of Swedish social model and welfare state is social democratic politics and its values that are still significant and popular nowadays. Its operative social policy and active labour market actions influence the efficiency of unemployed persons’ integration process and determines the low rate of unemployment. This Master’s research work is significant in all EU, as the research field is relevant. Social policy is wide developed in Sweden, whereas it is in the initial stage period in EU. The country already succeeded in EU Lisbon Social Policy Agenda employment goals for 2010. A great while the unemployment rate was less than in other EU member countries. Sweden is the all-purpose state, where the economic growth, the pursuit of complete employment, the reduction of unemployed persons’ number are combined together with thorough citizens’ social security. And there is a lack of elements of welfare state in Lithuania and other EU countries.

Full textNowadays the situation of people who belong to national minorities and disable people is very important in Lithuania and all the countries of Europe. Bul integration becomes rnore complieated when a person belongs to both of these groups contemporaneously. From one side government institutions are not capable to meet all cases about disability, from another side they don't pay attention to ethnicity of these people. To understand the relation between mentally retarded children and their ethnic dependence this rescarch was earried out. Its aim is to find out an ethnic aspect of sočiai integration of mentally retarded children from national minorities. To reach this aim such tasks wcre raised: to find out what mentally retarded children know about their ethnic and national culture; what teachers think about the possibilities to integrate mentally retarded children within ethnical context. The method used in the paper is questionnaire survey. 44 pupils and 7 teachers were polled. The results obtain during the research show that major part of mentally retarded children know about their nationality. Teachers also agree ethnical aspects to be vcry important in the process of sočiai integration and attention shouid be payed to them.

Full textHaving analyzed scientific literature about the people who were educated on an adaptable syllabus ,according to the social integration in the society, social integration could be defined as the provision of equal opportunities for the disabled. The provision of equal opportunities can include the removal of physical and psychological obstacles in living surroundings. The hypothesis of the research, that the quality of successful integration in the society of people, who were educated on adaptable syllabuses, depends on their own, their families’, schools’ and the societies’efforts, was absolutely confirmed. It means, that peoples’, who were educated on an adaptable syllabus, quality of the successful integration in the society is influenced by youngsters’ self-assessment, confidence, their own aims and needs, the involvement of their families into the process of education, the creation of social atmosphere, where the goodwill of employers and conditions for the disabled exist. The results of the research show that 19 percent of people, who participated in the questionnaire, were taught according to an adaptable syllabus, but any special assistance was not offered. This factor demonstrates that there is a problem of educating and rending assistance for children with special needs, it means that there is lack of specialists and not every teacher is ready and trained to work with these children. It analyses the data of various researches in this area and general outlines in residents’ attitudes towards employment. Theoretical background of this paper is a theory of tension fields by professor R.Grigas. In this study societal paradigms and their applicability to analysis of issues are reviewed. Disability is a physical or mental condition that makes it difficult for someone to use a part of their body properly, or to learn normally. It can be caused by physical, mental or sensory disorders, or by inappropriate therapy. These disorders, states or illnesses can be chronic or transient. Integration is systematic meeting of people who have different abilities for purposeful activity. Social integration is characteristics of the unity of different social groups’ and individual aims. Rehabilitation is coordinated and complex use of medical, social, pedagogical and professional means to achieve one’s maximal functional activity. Attitude is a way of thinking or acting. Attitude can be formed immediately or during a longer period of time acquiring special experience. Full textThis paper analyzes policy implementation of ex-prisoners integration into the labour market in the political context of poverty reduction and social inclusion. The aim of this paper is to identify the main problems that influence the effectiveness of implementation and their causes. To reach this goal the research is divided into three sections. The main question of this master thesis is: “Why do only few ex-prisoners integrate into labour market?” It can be answered by confirming or denying the raised primary and secondary hypotheses in the context of the main problems and their reasons that influence the effectiveness of policy implementation. In conclusion, the policy analysis of people coming back from imprisonment and their integration into the labour market shows (despite that some hypothesis were only partly confirmed) that the State implements the policy that is appropriate enough and could be effective. In this process the outcome of the policy implementation depends not only on the role of governmental and non-governmental institutions, but most importantly, on the characteristics, efforts and attitudes of the target group and on the intentions of employers to engage this person.

The leaders of schools, teachers and special needs pupils face difficulties because of lack of material and human resources. The aim of the work is to reveal the context of integration of the special needs pupils in the secondary school. The taks: 1. To highlight the functions of social pedagogues in the process of integration of the special needs pupils. 2. To evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of integration of special needs pupils. 3. To reveal the pecularities of the team work and the inclusion of parents giving help for the special needs pupils. 4. To evaluate the attitude of the teachers and the school leaders to the integration of the special needs pupils in the secondary school and the problems which they face. The qualitative research was carried out in order to reveal the context of the integration of the special needs pupils to the secondary school. There was used a content analysis and defined 24 categories and 139 subcategories. The main conclusions: 1. The research revealed that social pedagogues work group and individual work with special needs pupils and their classes.
