Full textThis thesis proposes an analysis of the teachers’ professional socialization through a theoretical and conceptual-interactionist framework. It is based on various empirical methods (observation, individual and collective talks, followed by troop qualitative). Four major elements come out of this thesis: 1) initial training has a deep influence on the soon-to-be teachers concerning the way they act and both the way they work and the way they7consider their work. The act of “social manufacturing” they undergo during their formation enables them to acquire elements for their career (linguistic, temporal, rhetorical or relational elements). 2) During their initial training, the future teachers create a “student culture” which aims at negotiating, translating or transgressing the formal and official standards conveyed by the authority of socialization. Accordingly, the abstract or semi-official standards produced within this subculture have a major influence on the comprehension of the process of professional socialization. 3) There exists a plurality of professional identities adopted by the teachers at the time they begin their career. These are founded on the trajectory which led the individuals to teaching, and also on how they deal with the training and their work. Far from the disillusioned figure of the young teacher in suffering one might expect, the beginning of a career appears to be fulfilling and to be a source of achievement. 4) Three forms of careers and professional identities emerge from our diachronic investigation: a pragmatic identity, an identity created by “relative frustration” and an autonomous identity. Moreover, the professional identity adopted at the time of the first years of teaching tends to persist in time, revealing the structuring force of the objective dimension of the teaching careers (predetermined gradations of advance statutory and professional mobility, constraints related to the separation of the private and the professional spheres…). The thesis concluded on the need for questioning a functionalist vision of initial training and an administrative design of the teaching career currently dominant

Full textOur research intends to study the gap between pre-established social status given to any social actor and the practice of it, affected by this very status and the one they claim. Through his practice, any actor may choose to correspond to this pre-established identity or one as ather way round to get as far as possible from it. The advantage of consider profesional book-sellers is this occupation suggests immediately a desire to claim the distinction between book-selling vendors and profesional book-sellers in the established category of book-selling retailers. Consequently, working as a profesional book-seller is not considered there just as an occupation, but mainly as a social path varied profesional identifications. The evolution of book selling through several social or economical systems from the old regim up to the 19e siecle makes clear the basic caracteristics of the present profesional book-sellers status. Their progressive coming to specialized trading explains why institutions and sociologicts have not been interesed in studying the field. It is yet possible to establish a difference socialogicaly based, between bookselling vendors an professional book-sellers. Only the latters are being able to prove a "savoir-faire" increating an old stock and advising costumers. To consider the attachment to profesional group as being result of a claimed profestional identity, opends a wide range of investigation concerning profesional choces and practice. The way the profesional practice develops depends on the inherited identity, the constrained identity as well as aimed identiy, three builtvariables. It is possible to understand selling practice of profesional book sellers only if we consider this commercial activity as an interaction between the professional book-seller and his actual customers in space and time at the very moment of selling

Full textThe training of specialised educators is carried out alternatively in school and by practical training courses. And even if the professional environment plays the main part in the process of occupational socialisation of the future educators, the training centre also plays a part in it. Its serves as a complement only by adopting methods resting on the same founding bases as the educational system. In our research, we studied which teaching system was implemented and how the trainees benefited from that socialisation. It is based on a comparative analysis of five French training centres. In this case, the process of professional socialisation is observed through three dimensions : admission procedure, essential rite of passage. By sorting out a certain type of candidates, it conveys professional values. Legitimate programs and latent curricula. Instructors, methods and subject maters chosen by the centres of formation, help the students to blend in their future professional universe, socially and culturally. The effects of professional socialisation visible in the change of motivations and representations, and the type of acquisitions favoured by the students during their training. The homology between teaching and selection in the schools and the institutions of the educational sector fosters the acquisition of a reproductive professional identity. The specialised educator, today, always balanced between charisma and technicality, with the complex identity problem that it does not fail to induce

Full textSince the 80s, in line with other artistic professions, training in circus artistry belongs to professional schools labeled by the State and no longer to the family circle of "traditional circus". Not only did the integration of circus within the Culture Ministry since 1979 and the application of policies geared to its development start the institutionalization and the "scholarizing" of the formation, but also the social legitimization of "contemporary circus". The present doctoral work studies the professional socialization of apprentices in circus artistry in French schools of various statuses, using several methods and analytical tools. Based on documentary research, interviews of about forty actors and observations in each school, the goal of thesis is to understand the interacting processes that contribute to the emergence of a structured and competing network of formation and to the professional socialization of circus artists in the schools. These processes are investigated in their particular contextual configuration and in the midst of the historical tensions that arose during the establishment of circus as a proper artistic subfield

Full textThe thesis deals with the sociology of the beginning of career of the teachers in secondary school, from the case of the Physical and Sports Education, between the passing of the examination and the third year of actual professional appointment. The point here is to categorize the variables which report difficulties and those which on the contrary facilitate the first moments in the job. For that purpose, we investigated for four years with a structured sample consisting of fifty-five teachers appointed all over the academies (i.e. regional educational authorities) of Lille and Versailles. Signings of questionnaires, interviews (sixty- five), observations of the work “in progress” (ten times a week) were carried out. Five teachers were particularly « studied », even, establishing then a kind of “longitudinal follow-up”. Finally this work brings to light the tensions between the learning of the job by the official training authorities and that on the ground, between the necessities of respecting a professionnal culture and adapting to the actual teaching situations. But these proceed of diverse variables which express themselves in ambiguous manners. We suggest systematizing this complexity by showing how the teacher submits to the job in order to succeed in adapting. Will the current “masterization” of the teaching training programmes improve it ? And thus, the transmission of the knowledge and skills in Physical Education as well as the alterations which it implies at the level of the pupils ? We may wonder why the thesis does not give a definite answer to these questions. Now it is up to the reader to appreciate if it is either because of the heterogeneousness of the configurations of career debuts, thanks to the variety of the beginners’ profiles or the chosen teaching subject

Full textThe present thesis develops the effects resulting from the social classifications concerning a certain youth: this is particularly advanced by studying the conditions of access to job by young people and by the confrontation of these results to the theory of the "professional transition" (J. Rose). The classification are analyzed as a necessary condition for the setting up of employment policies and particularly the measures called TUC-CES (collective usefulness jobs - solidarity employment contracts) on one hand, the TUC-CES people are fundamentally analyzed from the point of view and the mobilization strategies developed by institutions which appeal to these young people. On the other hand, this population (TUC-CES people) is analyzing by questioning the steps taken by young people: here, institutional determinations are strongly tied up with individual processes. The concepts of socialization and identity allow the construction of a framework which examines an original program of employment policy

It shows how finance students are positioned by their studies and according to their social backgrounds within the hierarchical space of financial professions, but also the ways in which they internalize specific norms differently, such as the systematic pursuit of profits, depending on their prior socialization. It concludes that professional socialization in finance promotes the acceptance of the capitalist economic structure of society

Full textWhat should one think of the policy, launched in 1985, of “leading 80 percent of a generation to the baccalauréat”? One always hears people say that “the baccalauréat is worth nothing”. I wanted to know how one can arrive with a qualification believed to be worth nothing. In addition to historical data and national statistics, I have collected the educational and professional trajectories of “achievers of the baccalauréat by social engineering” (since the 1990s). This group consists of people who found themselves unable to go on to higher or further education due to an accumulation of gaps of knowledge during difficult school careers. I have taken into account both their educational and professional, subjective and objective experiences, reconstructed by interview. The “baccalauréat” is an intermediate; ambivalent qualification which, despite its devaluation, still constitutes a reasonable starting point for professional life, thanks to its value as cultural and symbolic capital. I have shown, by introducing a social comparison between middle class and immigrant working class children in order to account for intergenerational transmission of knowledge, how class differences at equivalent educational level alternate with generational resemblances. I found a “common condition of achievers of the baccalauréat” which reflects the landmark social changes (democratisation/devaluation of qualifications) and contrasts strongly with the experiences of the parent generation during the post war years until the 1970s (less education but better employment opportunities)

Full textThis doctoral dissertation analyses the social processes enabling women to access historically male-dominated positions. Drawing on the sociology of gender, music, education and work, it explores women’s entry into the world of traditional music instrumentalists in Greece. Based on biographical interviews, archives, institutional sources and quantitative data, the dissertation shows that feminization over the past thirty years has been fuelled by two processes: the formalization of instrumental learning, particularly in the school system, and the expansion of employment opportunities in the field of traditional music revival. These transformations have produced a reconfiguration of gendered practices and representations and a normalization of women instrumentalists’ trajectories. However, as a minority in a male-dominated artistic world, women can maintain their musical practice only under certain conditions. They need to gather resources and deal with gender constraints to achieve success. By analysing the evolution of learning forms and musical worlds, this thesis thus contributes to understanding the mechanisms of production of gender relations in the artistic labour market

Full textThe reaffirmation and renewal of the value of apprenticeships that we have seen over the last two decades lead us to pose the following question : how can we define apprenticeships in major companies as a form of professional training ? The forms of apprenticeship that we have seen are radically différent and experimental. There is a separating out of the content, and also of the time, the places and the people responsible for the apprentices, and an insistence on individualised evaluations, on cultural and social dispositions, as well as a share out of power between the différent actors. These demonstrate the extent of the break with traditional forms of schooling. They lead us to think that the we are observing a new form of social control. However, faced with this situation, apprentices are actively developing both individual and collectives practices that can impact on the constraints to which they are confronted. Nevertheless, this particular form of socialisation cannot be assimilated to a proletarian socialisation. The apprentices meet rather than join a social milieu

Full textFew studies have been conducted on the handling of homosexuality by gays and lesbians within the working environment. The associations defending LGBT rights legitimately highlight the impact of homophobic working cultures on the visibility of gays and lesbians. Instead of using the apprehension of potential homophobic reactions as the sole explanatory factor, this thesis intends to place the choice of gays and lesbians within a wider series of issues and a more comprehensive logic. Regarding the way an individual handles their homosexuality at work, this thesis intends to identify what pertains to the individual's structure (and especially the place occupied by homosexuality in their global identity) and what pertains to the interactions (the working culture). From a series of interviews conducted with 53 men and women of diverse ages and working mainly in three professional sectors (forces of order, education, medical-social field), we could identify the different linkages between identity-related issues and working cultures. After studying how individuals handle their homosexuality outside of work, we studied the mobilizations of the professional environments. Finally, we studied how individuals act within the specific constraints of their working environment, based on their identity-related issues. This approach shed light on underlying and invisible norms existing in the professional worlds and gave the keys to understanding other « non-standard » identities in the professional environment

Full textWork in organizational socialization (OS) over the past five decades has focused more on theorganizational (Van Maanen and Schein, 1979), individual (Louis, 1980) and interactionist approach(Reichers, 1987). As for the relational approach, some research has considered relations with socializingagents, as a source of information for new employees (NE) (Bauer and Green, 1998; Morrison, 1993),and rarely as a "relation". which supposes a dynamic, and to a certain extent a reciprocity between theactors (Coyle-Shapiro, and Shore, 2008). New employee relationships play a key role in NE socialization, not only for the information they provide (Ostroff and Kozlowski, 1992), but also as a primary source ofsocial support (Bauer and Green, 1998). However, work relationships can make the process of OSstressful and difficult (Kammeyer-Mueller et al. 2013, Lapointe, 2013). We fit our research into thisapproach, and we aim to understand the role of labor relations in new employee socialization and itsconsequences. Therefore, we use the psychological contract (Rousseau, 1989) and the theory of resourceconservation (Hobfoll, 1989) to understand the reciprocal expectations and obligations in the context oflabor relations, and the consequences in terms of gain or loss of resources. The qualitative approachbased on a multiple case study allows us to answer our research questions. Thus, we selected five businesscases in the Cameroonian context and conducted semi-structured interviews with 69 new recruits, and 8organizational representatives. Data analysis was done through thematic content analysis (Miles andHuberman, 2003) using NVIVO 12 software. The results reveal that work / non-work relationships ortheir absence lead to accumulation or loss of personal, relational, and organizational resources. Spiritualresources seem inexhaustible and very useful in the context of loss of resources for NE. The contributionsof our thesis mainly lie in highlighting a typology of new socialized employees and the dynamics of theresources they mobilize in labor relations

Full textOrganizational integration is a determinant phase for new recruits. Defined as the process of learning the ropes of new job, organizational socialization was first considered an instrument of control over individuals (Van Mannen and Shein, 1979). Later, the proactive role of new recruits, through cognitive (Louis, 1980) and information seeking activities (Morrison, 1993; Ashforth and Saks, 1996), was recognized. In service firms where turnover is high, it is important that customer contact workers, representing their organization, be quickly socialized to insure a good quality of service.Individual integration efficient tactics of new recruits is explored in the retailing industry end fast-food operations. Seven individual integration tactics and their evolution over the first three months in the organization were analyzed through a transversal and a longitudinal qualitative study. The research model revealed that new recruits proactivity during the socialization process increased work performance through the mediating socialization domains, which are direct socialization. Organizational socialization tactics had no moderating effect on the relation between individual integration tactics and socialization domains. The main contribution of this research is a presentation of the socialization literature through the individual/social group dialectic

Full textIn a context of continuing adaptation to changes in work organizations, employees' commitment represents a major stake for managers and is a main object of study in work psychology. Our research means to study the reasons for variations in the level of commitment of young workers at the time of the transition from training to employment. Among the many studies on this concept, Allen and Meyer developed a multi-component model of commitment. These studies show the influence of the discrepancy perceived by the subjects between their expectations about work and reality, in a variety of aspects, underestimating however the role played by other people in the development and maintenance of their commitment to work. Working within a systemic approach of the subject's behaviors, we aim to prove that such influence depends on the support the subject perceives from his environment, within his professional circle, but also from the without. Our study, performed on 342 subjects in professional training, is based on a questionnaire produced from a version of the Allen and Meyer's scale, which was adapted to different foci of commitment (training, job and company) and completed with the component of innovative commitment. Results show that the effect of the confrontation between expectations and reality on the level of commitment is partly better explained when the moderating effect of social support is taken into account. They allow for recommendations to be made for practitioners working in the areas of professional training and human resource management

Full textThis work is interested in the formation proposed to the adults firstly new-comers. An analysis of the contents and the effects of this formation is going to allow another perception of spaces and occupied territories so much by those who organize this formation that by those who participate in it. During this analysis, we tried to show the existing distance between the presuppositions and the reasons adduced on one hand, and the results on the other hand, as well in the experiences of formation as in the openings, for type insertion for example, which she allows or which she leads. Besides, this work also re-questions the contents of formation in what they answer or not particular needs, those firstly new-comers, who join places of fragility and very strong demand of accompaniment The examples of the proposed bodies of formation are instructive in many respects, and the realized inquiries show how the time of the formation is managed by the organization which refers to another logic than the one by which is inspired the public, to whom we ask to adapt itself at first and which often resist and adapt themselves badly to these orders. It was noticed, during the various training courses made in these training centers, that the interest is concerned knowledges and more still know-how to answer the demands of the companies which require a hand of qualified work, without granting a real importance for the role that the knowledge could play to be and know how to him live with, of whom show these persons who chose France as a definitive installation

Full textWhen joining a new organization, newcomers experience high levels of uncertainty, anxiety and stress. Research on organizational socialization emphasized that newcomers cope with this uncertainty and make sense of their new environment by voluntary engaging in proactive behaviors such as information-seeking, feedback-seeking and relationship building. These proactive behaviors were found to be a major channel through which new hires reach required levels of learning and identification to participate as effective organizational members. Yet, little is known about the situational antecedents and the motivational processes underlying newcomers’ proactivity during socialization. Drawing on the Uncertainty Management Theory (Lind & Van den Bos, 2002), this research examined the effects of organizational justice on newcomers’ proactivity and socialization outcomes. Findings from a longitudinal four-wave field study on a sample of new graduates suggested that newcomers use their fairness expectations and perceptions as a decisional heuristics that motivates and guides their proactive behaviors, and thus shapes their learning and adjustment. In particular, results indicated that newcomers engage in proactive socialization more frequently towards fair targets than towards unfair ones. These findings are presented throughout three empirical papers that argue that bridging knowledge from the organizational justice and socialization literatures helps better understand the processes leading to newcomers’ adjustment. Theoretical contributions, managerial implications and avenues for future research are finally discussed

Full textProfessional repatriation is a psychosocial transition that has been little studied in the field of career psychology. The data available indicate that after being repatriated, the relationship to the job remains problematic for many people. Upon their return, the stress seems more like a ‘shock of identity’ than a simple ‘cultural shock’ usually described by the literature. How to explain that most repatriates mention greater difficulties for professional adaptation when they return to their country, their culture, their native language, their family, and friends or colleagues that they did when leaving? The present research thesis seeks to enhance our understanding of the psychological processes and the psychosocial dimensions of the professional repatriation transition, focusing in particular on identity and capability dynamics at play among repatriates when they return home. Three studies using quantitative and qualitative methods were conducted with repatriated executives after successful professional expatriation experiences. These studies highlight the importance of the psychosocial transitions of repatriation by taking into account key psychological constructs involved in the entire expatriation-repatriation process, such as the motivations for expatriation, the sentiment of adaptation during expatriation, as well as the perceived conditions, professional self-efficacy, and the repercussions on identity and emotional tone after the return. The approach adopted here found that the professional motivations for expatriation were often based on a desire to learn a new skill or capacity, which the subject tried to showcase upon his/her return. Thus, the identity tensions experienced were greater the more the individual perceived a significant difference with his/her return environment, while they had expected the contrary that expatriation would provide a better fit. The research results provide some suggestions for career counselling to support people in international mobility throughout their experience of expatriation-repatriation

Full textEmployment represents both a restriction and a liberty allowing the accomplishment of the human being. This social function of employment generates a need for its protection. Employment contract law was a reaction against the unfairness of the liberal society of the 19th century. Based upon an idea of protection of the weak, and a necessity for the state to equilibrate the terms of contract, the employment contract law is first illustration of a social concept of law. Other particular social law, built with the reference of employment contract law, were then created. This socialisation of contract law stands in opposition of a very liberal and individualist conception of the general theory of contract based upon the theory of volunty's autonomy. In the same way, to organise this modern contract, contractual techniques has been created, or adapted from civil law. The modernity of those techniques favoured their dispersion in contract law, which contributes to its socialisation. Then, by its influence, the employment contract law participates in creating a better and more fair contractual world

The object is to show the relationship between the dynamics of commitment in supervisory positions and role orientation. Research about organizational socialization tends to minimize the influence of prior external experiences to the organizational socialization of the subjects. Our theory suggests that the meaning people attribute to their commitments and professional roles are related to heterogeneous experiences and temporalities. Data collected from fifteen Social Work managers underline the importance of placing the motivations and directions of the professional activities of the subjects in temporalities that are different from their socialization at work and away from work, and in relation to their chosen activities in other domains. Results also show the importance of deliberation and attributing meaning processes in the construction of commitment and role playing in a new work environment

To speak of "management by body", is to pose the existence of a tacit diffusion of rules, norms and values through the bodies, that is to say beyond what can be said and formally understood. This is what the thesis work has to do - focusing on the socialization of fitness teachers in the world-leading New Zealand brand: Les Mills® - through technical training in effective gestures, or an implicit diffusion of attitudes, self-presentation and well-being. More precisely, by confronting individual social provisions with the managerial logics put in place by the brand, it is a matter of grasping the terms of the "body and soul" commitment of individuals who have become LesMills® instructors. Through standardized group fitness classes, more than just a reading of physical activity and sporting form, it is a question of bringing a sociological perspective on the setting up of socializing modalities "by body". The self-service inherent in the profession of "instructor LesMills" is part of a body efficiency for aesthetic performance that induces the homogenization of the ways of acting, thinking and feeling, on individuals in search of social recognition

Full textThis work deals with the socialization of labor as viewed through the prism of professional learning. It endeavors to report on the sociogenesis of workers’ collectives and categories of membership by questioning the methods through which professional knowledge is acquired. The issue deals more specifically with the relationship between experiential learning and the dynamics of membership to workers’ organizations. This form of reflection relies on an analysis of the phenomena of imitation and individuation. To this end, our work makes use of data collected from two fields of research: a large aeronautics corporation in a suburb of Paris, France, and metallurgical plants in Liège, Belgium. It develops a comparative analysis of these two types of socialization of labor from the points of view of the use of professional writing, the process of transmission of knowledge, experimentation, the rationalization of work and the specific influence of frames of experience

Full textThis research analyzes the socialization process of “juges de proximité” within the courts in France. The small claim courts (“jurisdictions de proximité”) were created by the Justice reformation of 2002 (se foi mais de uma reforma usa o “of”, se foi só uma deixa o “in”). To its reformers, this institution represents the desire of reducing litigiousness in the relationship between Justice and citizens. The reaction of professional judges' corporation stigmatized the image of the“citizen-judges” who were presumed to not have enough competences to render a Justice of quality. Hence, the access to this position was limited to graduated lawyers. The creation of a closeness justice is nowadays far from being achieved. Its organization produced a paradoxal phenomenon in which “juges de proximité” accomplish a more litigious justice than professional judges. This thesis aims to understand the social conditions leading to this paradox. The fieldwork consisted of interviews with “juges de proximité”, professional judges and court clerks; an intense work of observation of judicial hearings and an internship in the Small Court of Sète. The judges' integration is important to understand their stigmatization and the strategies used to overcome relational difficulties. The construction of identity is the result of a cognitive process of interpretation of court members' expectancies by the “juges de proximité”. They overperform their role by showing their legal competences in order to deviate the attention from their stigma. Through an ethnomethodological analysis, different methods employed by “juges de proximité” and professional judges are compared to understand how the work is accomplished in coordination with the court clerks. The comparison is extended to the work accomplished with lay people during judicial hearings. The employed techniques are described to reveal the way in which “juges de proximité” focus interactions in legal features, contrarily to professional judges. In conclusion, “juges de proximité” accomplish a more litigious justice, because they intend to demonstrate their legal knowledge to socialize, by relegating practical skills to accomplish the everyday work in courts. The sociology of judicial decision contribute to understand the concrete conditions and the secular concerns which guide the decision making process

Full textTeachers of cookery in public institution teaching hospitality management teach in a unique subject area. Historically, France has created a world-renowned gastronomic tradition, influenced by successive economic and social circumstances. Since the early 1970s, eating out bas undergone rationalisation processes which have modified the socialisation sites in which cooks learn their profession. The dominant figure of the "Chefs" who enjoy this status through mastery of techniques for transforming food products is undermined by the rationalisation of catering systems, notably by the introduction of semi-processed products, Nevertheless, in the collective view about cooks and their teachers a rationale of value prevails. The value system of fine catering, based on the classic cuisine of the nineteenth century only partially explains the logic underpinning the actions of teachers of cookery. However, a study of the professional path of teachers of cockery reveals two main types of instructors. Those who have a strong professional culture based on long experience of work in restaurants and those who have accumulated shorter professional experience having followed long theoretical studies. These different paths have created distinct professional identities which guide the logic of their actions. However, observation of professional practices brings to light multiple rationales which depend not only on the effects of socialisation, but also on the practical contexts, individual goals and relationships with others

Full textThis research concerns the processes of professional socialization and personalization in a concrete situation of the work transformation and professional transition: it means continuing education. Accordingly, we study the training conducts of Ivorian managers. We consider these conducts as complex and dynamic behaviors, socio-cognitive and conative processes. We join a psychosocial, systemic and constructivist perspective which considers individuals conducts in their professional environments as taking part in an identity and social structures reconstruction. We postulate that the continuing education conducts of ivorian managers do not result only from mechanists influences of the personal and organizational characteristics, but they are directed by work meaning and values processes. An extensive approach by questionnaire allowed to question 108 ivorian managers registered in devices of long-term degree course. The analysis of the results allows describing a plurality of dimensions of ivorian managers training conducts. Results confirm that conducts are partially influenced by socio-biographic, situational and organizational characteristics, and that their variability is explained in particular by the modulating effect of the meanings of work and of the link with socio-cultural values. Beyond their contribution to a better understanding of the processes of socialization and social and individual changes during a phase of psychosocial transition, the results allow to deduce practical recommendations in continuous training policies and development of managers skills, engineering of continuing education of managers in Africa (elaboration and updating of devices and training programs, evaluation of the educational methods and their psychosocial effects, the finer understanding of managers training strategies)

Full textThis thesis aims to contribute to highlight mechanisms of educational and occupational sex segregation. In a socio-developmental perspective, this dissertation examines, on the one hand, the variation of sex-typed jobs representations, among primary school pupils, and on the other hand, the sex intergroup representations and then, the professional aspirations of young adults. More specifically, we analysed the variation of sex-typed jobs categorization, among children, at different ages, their behavior (choice / rejection) regarding to stereotyped vs counter-stereotyped scenarii and then, their preferred occupation. First, we propose that these various measures reveal the existence of a "rigidity phase" about knowledge, behaviors and preferences related to sex roles, among the youngest pupils (7 years) compared to the most elderly children (9 and 11 years old). Two studies (Germs 1 and Germs 2) reveal that this "rigidity phase" applied to jobs, is observed around 9 years. Secondly, we examine the intergroup representations and career aspirations among young adults, in female vs male vocational training. We expect to a cognitive gender asymmetry and an occupational sex segregation regarding to career aspirations. Thus, choosing a female vs male vocational career does not change the social and cognitive asymmetry between female and male. Three studies confirmed this postulate. Finally, we discuss the résults of this thesis work, to lead a proposal for social applications and intervention in the educational system in favor of gender equality
