Abstract:
Globally, by 2050, the older adult population will be larger than other age segments of the population. Government programs and health care guidelines are being put in place to help encourage exercise. However, there is little information on how the societal pressure presented in these government programs makes people feel, especially those over the age of 65. The purpose of the present study was to understand what the societal pressure to exercise means to adults over the age of 65 using a qualitative, phenomenological approach and employing in-depth interviews using the health belief model a

Locally advanced cancers of the pelvis are challenging cancers to manage. These patients often have a high symptom burden and prognosis is grim with non-surgical treatments. Radical surgery (also known as pelvic exenteration) is the only option which can offer cure, but it is also commonly accompanied by prolonged recovery, long term functional sequelae and considerable post-surgical complications. The uptake and dissemination of pelvic exenteration was also marred by early reports of high intra and post-operative mortality rates. Novel surgical techniques have improved both surgical and oncol

This thesis explores radio advertising in Ghana, focusing on the characteristics of a genre that is often termed 'slice-of-life' and that is popular with advertising producers. Slice-of-life adverts seek to represent a version of real life: specifically, the social reality of the target audience for the advert. I discuss how this represents a challenge to producers given a number of constraints, particularly the very brief duration of the mini-dramas that form the core of slice-of-life adverts and that last for just 1 0-60 seconds.
