Abstract:
Socio-cultural factors – shared values, norms and attitudes are significant, but less acknowledged sources of international competitiveness. Previous studies have found socio-cultural factors positively affecting various aspects of international competitiveness – entrepreneurship, innovation, productivity and international cooperation. These factors are more sustainable and less affected by external environment changes in comparison with the traditional factors. Socio-cultural factors provide an opportunity to develop competitiveness strategies based on unique advantages. This research aims to explore the impact of socio-cultural factors on international competiveness in small, open economies. Analysing relationship between 400 socio-cultural indicators and competitiveness indicators such as productivity, economic development, business and government efficiency, innovation capacity and infrastructure in 37 countries, six socio-cultural factors have emerged: Collectivism and Hierarchy; Future, Cooperation and Performance Orientation, Self-expression, Monochronism and Rationality, Economic Orientation and Social structure. The first factor – Collectivism and Hierarchy – tends to reduce the international competitiveness; the other five affect it positively.

Abstract:
Background: Neonatal health remains a major concern in Nigeria, with high mortality rates influenced by socio-economic and cultural factors. Despite the importance of neonatal health education, maternal engagement remains low in Ondo State. Objective: The study examined how socio-economic and cultural factors affect pregnant women’s engagement with neonatal health education, focusing on employment, education, household size, and cultural beliefs. Method: A survey of 772 pregnant women was conducted using structured questionnaires. Data were analysed using multiple regression and ANOVA to assess the impact of socio-economic and cultural factors on neonatal health education engagement. Results: Socio-economic factors significantly influenced engagement with neonatal health education (Adj. R² = 0.08, F(5,721) = 13.18, p < 0.05), with employment status, educational attainment, and household size emerging as key predictors. However, cultural factors did not significantly impact neonatal health education engagement (R² = 0.001, p > 0.05). Additionally, age significantly influenced engagement with media-based neonatal health education (F(5,721) = 17.60, p < 0.05), emphasising the need for age-specific communication strategies. Conclusion: The study concludes that while socio-economic disparities affect neonatal health education engagement, cultural barriers do not play a significant role. This suggests that targeted, media-driven health interventions can effectively bridge knowledge gaps among pregnant women. Unique Contribution: This study provides new insights into the role of socio-economic factors, rather than cultural influences, in shaping pregnant women’s engagement with neonatal health education. Key Recommendation: Policymakers should implement inclusive, age-specific neonatal health education programs and strengthen digital and community-based media to ensure broad access for all pregnant women, regardless of socio-economic status.

Abstract:
Introduction. The emerging paradigm of socio- cultural development of the Russian Federation’s local communities is conditioned by the trans- formation of production and economic practices based on the concept of a multi-layered economy and multifunctionality emerging under the pressure of globalization on the development of localities. The desire to preserve and maintain socio-cultural traditions, customs, and values is an axiological guideline for developing local communities. The growing social vulnerability of communities creates certain conditions for losing identity, ability for self-identification, and leads to the destruction of socio-cultural identity. The purpose of the study. The article analyzes the problem of socio-cultural evolution when modern- izing production and economic activity generating factors causing the transformation of culture and sociality of local communities, thus determining the processes of integration and disintegration of socioculture. Methods. Sociocultural analysis provides an op- portunity to reveal the main directions of sociocul- tural development of local communities, to explain the essence of interaction, mutual influence and unification of local communities into an interactive socio-cultural space with compatible formations and components. Scientific novelty of the research. The author dis- plays the models of culture and sociality transfor- mation reflecting the processes of modification of the local communities’ lifestyle that determine the transition from the paradigm of sustainable tradi- tional socio-cultural development to the paradigm of innovative transformations. Results. The problem of sociocultural integration and disintegration is associated with globalization processes that generate contradictions of globality and locality. The processes of integration/disin- tegration of the local communities’ sociocultural development are conditioned by the culture and sociality evolution of the constructing model of socio-cultural behavior. The pressure of globaliza- tion plunges the socio-cultural space into a state of diffusion, instability. Historically established traditions, norms, values are transformed into intermediate forms that help to adapt to new living conditions, neutralize the negative consequences of modernization. Territorial sociocultural formations are being formed, within the framework of which attempts are being made to preserve the tradition- al socio-cultural environment. Conclusions. The dynamics of sociocultural pro- cesses determines the emergence of multidirec- tional poles of sociocultural life: from the desire to preserve the traditional socio-cultural environment, to the full acceptance of the meaningful qualities of liberal socio-culture, which destroys the sociocul- tural identity of local communities.

Abstract:
The knowledge economy, fostered by knowledge-based innovation, has been linked to entrepreneurial and economic success, especially in OECD countries. Studies have shown the influence of socio-cultural factors on almost every area of economic behavior. However, few studies have attempted to connect these factors to the knowledge economy. Our research bridges this gap. We investigated the impact of socio-cultural factors on knowledge-based innovation, then we also examined whether digitalization impacted knowledge-based innovation, regardless of the influence of socio-cultural factors. Using official data from Russia’s statistical office, we developed a correlation regression model using a linear graphical test and Pearson correlation. Our results show that certain socio-cultural factors significantly influenced knowledge-based innovation. We also found that digitalization could mitigate the negative effects of socio-cultural factors. Digitalization had a positive influence on knowledge-based innovation across all regions and socio-cultural characteristics. Our research provides pioneering analysis of the topic within post-Soviet economies and has huge implications for business practice, policy making, and academic research.

Abstract:
The paper provides the examination of economic sustainability based on the impact of socio-cultural factors and the environmental deterioration factors. This empirical analysis focuses particularly on G7 countries, and panel time series during the period 2000-2022 are used to test this relationship. It applies several variables to determine these impacts that are tested with a principal component analysis and generalized least square estimation. According to Hofstede (1980) which is explained the culture dimensions (masculinity, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and indulgence); and U-shaped in Environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) which showed the relationship between environmental deterioration and income level. Socio-cultural variables are divided into three groups: “socio-development”, “Hofstede dimensions”, and “economic development”. Environmental deterioration variables are divided into two groups: “air pollution”, and “water pollution”. The paper indicates the hypothesis that socio-cultural variables significantly impact economic sustainability; and the significant impact of environmental deterioration variables on economic sustainability. The findings shows that socio-cultural negatively impacts economic sustainability, and environmental deterioration positively affects economic sustainability. Different tests apply to determine these effects, Hausman test to determine either Fixed effect or Random effect, Heteroscedasticity test (Durbin Watson test), Persan’s CD to test the serial correlation and Jarque-Berra test to confirm the normality distribution.

Abstract:
Exploring cultural diversity and socio-economic factors offers a holistic approach to fostering sustainable safety practices within the construction industry. This study investigates the relationship between cultural and socio-economic factors and their influence on safety practices within the construction industry, focusing specifically on Saudi Arabian construction. Employing a comparative research design, data were gathered through a questionnaire distributed among various stakeholders, including construction workers, safety officers, project managers, supervisors, and other professionals involved in construction projects. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was utilized to analyze the relationships between cultural, socio-economic, and safety practices. The findings showed significant associations of cultural and socio-economic factors with safety practices and attitudes. Specifically, positive workplace norms and values, effective communication styles, higher income levels, and better education and literacy levels were found to positively influence adherence to safety guidelines and the effectiveness of training programs. Conversely, job insecurity exhibited a negative impact on safety-related outcomes and training effectiveness. This study demonstrates the importance of fostering a positive safety culture within organizations, emphasizing leadership commitment, effective communication, and employee engagement. It also highlights the significance of addressing socio-economic factors, such as job security, income levels, and education, to promote a safer work environment and enhance safety practices. Practical implications derived from the research findings offer actionable insights for organizations to develop targeted interventions aimed at improving sustainable safety practices and training effectiveness within the construction industry in Saudi Arabia.

Abstract:
The intensive development of domestic tourism contributes to the emergence of new types of tourism. One of the promising areas is music tourism, which has significant potential for its development in modern Russia. A theoretical analysis of a number of trends characterizing the modern functioning of the Russian economy and culture allows us to present the factors contributing to the disclosure of this potential. The economic basis is the development of creative and creative industries, which include tourism; using the principles and technologies of the impression economy as a new consumption model capable of transforming the intangible characteristics of a service into economic value. The socio-cultural determinants of the development of music tourism lie in the continuing principles of postmodern culture, which allows creating new cultural products by combining the existing arsenal of cultural elements in a non-standard way or using them in a completely new format; in the strong traditions and high quality of Russian musical art and the presence of an audience educated by these traditions and capable of perceiving and evaluating musical works of various forms and genres; in a significant transformation towards the growth and diversity of cultural needs of the real and potential audience of both art and tourism. The cementing factor of all these processes is the decentralized state cultural policy, which contributes to the activation of the cultural potential of the territories and the smoothing of regional cultural and economic imbalances. Music tourism, which incorporates the features and peculiarities of creative industries and art, can significantly expand the market of tourist offers, meeting the needs of both music lovers and travelers, contributing to the economic and cultural development of the regions.

Many studies and scholars focus on the impact of climate change and pollution on economic green growth, linked to cultural variables. The discussed socio-cultural factors are measured by World Values Surveys, and environmental deterioration presented as different types of pollution are both independently essential for economic sustainability. The article refers to the socio-cultural index and sustainability. Environmental deterioration index as calculated by principal component analysis; Socio-cultural index formed by culture dimensions most of them mentioned by Hofstede (1980) such as masculinity, individualism and power distance; also, social development, and life expectancy and education level. Based on Environmental Kuznets Curve, there is a strong linkage among environmental degradation and income level. This paper applies Panel data by using generalized least square estimation; due to the existence of heteroskedasticity and serial correlation validate by Durbin-Watson test and Breusch-Pagan test respectively. The data was taken from World Value Surveys and European Value Surveys for Hofstede dimensions; World Bank such as GDP per capita, FDI, life expectancy at birth, tertiary school enrollment, and land pollution; and BP statistics of world energy for CO2 over years 2000–2022. The results show negative causal relationship between socio-cultural and economic sustainability and, a positive impact of environmental deterioration on economic.

Abstract:
Delayed reporting of breast cancer continues to increase in African countries, including Ghana, which is attributable to socio-cultural and economic factors. However, there is a paucity of data on socio-cultural and economic determinants of delayed reporting of breast cancer in Ghana. This study aimed to explore the socio‐cultural and economic determinants of delayed reporting of breast cancer among Ghanaian women. The study adopted an exploratory descriptive qualitative design with purposive sampling to recruit 17 women with breast cancer from the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Ghana. Data were collected through in-depth interviews. Analysis: Data analysis was done using the thematic analysis approach. Delayed reporting was due to inaccurate information, the influence of social networks, cultural misconceptions, belief in alternative treatment, high cost of treatment, and extreme poverty. A combination of socio‐cultural and economic factors influences the delay in reporting breast cancer in Ghana. Culturally appropriate and adequate health information and education, integration of alternative treatment into the formal healthcare system in Ghana, and financial support from the government are needed to promote early reporting for treatment.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to focus on the influence of socio-economic and cultural factors and their influence on corporate social performance (CSP) (Clarkson, 1995) within developing and mature economies. It aims at identifying the characteristics of socially responsible actions within two contexts: France and Brazil. Design/methodology/approach Based on a case study methodology and a press database, this paper analyzes two oil companies, the French group Total SA, and the Brazilian company Petrobras. Findings By focusing on corporate social responsibility (CSR) actions in different socio-economic and cultural contexts, it was possible to identify a predominant CSP “proactivity” in both companies; observe a difference in CSR discourse and practice; note a heterogenic and composite CSR; and notice that companies do not choose their CSP posture, but are subjected to external classifications. Research limitations/implications The analysis of only one company per socio-economic and cultural context belonging to the same field could be considered as a limitation, although it allows a deeper analysis of events within both organizations. Practical implications Apprehending CSP within different contexts may help decision makers to better understand companies’ socially responsible postures and to observe the socio-economic and cultural factors that can influence them. Originality/value This paper highlights CSR practices and their CSP under different socio-economic and cultural perspectives for a more comprehensive understanding of factors that motivate and direct the actions of big corporate organizations.

Abstract:
The methodology for compiling an assessment map of the degree of favorableness of the socio-economic environment for the development of socio-cultural types of tourism in Crimea is considered. A hypothesis has been put forward about the existence of a territorial disproportion in the degree of favorableness of the socio-economic environment for the development of socio-cultural types of tourism in the plain, mountain and coastal regions of the Crimean Peninsula. The nature of territorial imbalances in the favorable socio-economic environment of socio-cultural tourism is due to differences in the saturation of the Crimean territories with cultural heritage objects and the state of general economic and special infrastructure. Sociocultural types of tourism include specific forms and processes of organization and development of the sociocultural space of the region aimed at satisfying the cognitive, spiritual, moral, communicative and aesthetic needs of people. Groups of socio-economic conditions and factors that are important for the development of socio-cultural types of tourism in Crimea have been identified. Analytical maps of the territorial structure of the cultural heritage of Crimea and the conference tourism infrastructure on the peninsula have been constructed, reflecting certain aspects of the socio-economic environment of the region, influencing the degree of its favorableness for the organization of various types of socio-cultural tourism. A score assessment was made of the degree of favorable socio-economic conditions for the development of socio-cultural types of tourism in the context of 11 urban districts and 14 municipal districts of the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, with subsequent visualization of the results in the form of a comprehensive analytical and synthetic map. The map of the favorableness of the socio-economic environment of Crimea for the development of socio-cultural types of tourism confirmed the presence of territorial imbalances for this type of recreation on the peninsula. More than half of the territorial-administrative units of Crimea have a low degree of favorable socio-economic environment for the development of socio-cultural types of tourism. It is concluded that it is necessary to change the information image of Crimea to motivate tourists to visit its plain (steppe) regions and saturate territories with a low degree of favorable socio-economic environment with artificial attractions for socio-cultural tourism.

Abstract:
The article deals with the problem of institutionalization of evolutionary forms of socio-cultural development of local communities. The purpose of the study is to analyze the conditions and factors affecting the processes of institutionalization in the context of socio-cultural dynamics. Socio-cultural institutions are the most important structures, mechanisms for the formation of socio-cultural identity, act as regulators of the generation of value-normative complexes forming models of socio-cultural development. The main factors determining the institutional dynamics of socio-cultural evolution under the pressure of a globalized society are: the transformation of traditional industrial and economic relations; the conflict between local and global socio-cultural environments; the clash of formal and informal socio-cultural practices. In the process of interaction of globality and locality, conditions arise that determine instability, inconsistency, conflict, non-linearity of the development of socio-cultural development. The basic socio-cultural structures of the evolving local community are: tradition, innovations and the archaic. The unification of the socio-cultural environment becomes the dominant trend in the development of local communities, which determines the processes of institutionalization

Abstract:
Traditional villages are a valuable cultural asset that occupy an important position in Chinese traditional culture. This study focuses on 206 traditional villages in Hebei Province and aims to explore their spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors using ArcGIS spatial analysis. The analysis shows that traditional villages in Hebei Province were distributed in clusters during different historical periods, and eventually formed three core clusters in Shijiazhuang, Zhangjiakou and Xingtai-Handan after different historical periods. Moreover, the overall distribution of traditional villages in Hebei Province is very uneven, with clear regional differences, and most of them are concentrated in the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains. To identify the factors influencing traditional villages, natural environmental factors, socio-economic factors, and historical and cultural factors are considered. The study finds that socio-economic and natural environmental factors alternate in the spatial distribution of traditional villages in Hebei Province. The influence of the interaction of these factors increases significantly, and socio-economic factors have a stronger influence on the spatial distribution. Specifically, the spatial distribution of traditional villages in Hebei Province is influenced by natural environmental factors, while socio-economic factors act as drivers of spatial distribution. Historical and cultural factors act as catalysts of spatial distribution, and policy directions are external forces of spatial distribution. Overall, this study provides valuable insights into the spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of traditional villages in Hebei Province, which can be used to develop effective strategies for rural revitalisation in China.

Abstract— The biophysical-edaphic and socio-economic factors do equally influence the on-farm tree farming in the smallholder farming systems. Naturally, neither of the factors do act in isolation, but they are interrelated. The study was carried out in Nsangi sub-county, Wakiso District, 2018. Using the stratified random sampling method based on landholding sizes, a sample of size of sixty households were selected and interviewed. The objectives of the study were to examine the influence of the bio-physical, edaphic and socio-cultural-economic factors onto the performance of the on-farm tree farming enterprise, and to evaluate the farmer's participation in on-farm tree farming activities. The results showed that both ecological-edaphic and socio-cultural-economic factors influence the performance of the tree volume, tree species diversity and tree stand density/ha. There is a negative correlation between size of landholding and farmer's interaction with the on-farm tree farming enterprises. Judging from the results of this study, there is a need for a policy review aimed at devising appropriate socio-cultural-economic and ecological-edaphic practices that promote on-farm tree farming programmes.

Abstract:
In recent decades, the tourism sector has become one of the most profitable sectors of the economy and is one of the most important factors in socio-cultural development. At the present stage of development of society, tourism is a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, which is one of the most dynamically developed and highly profitable sectors of the world economy. For the state, tourism plays a significant role in the socio-economic development of territories and stimulates the preservation of existing tourist resources in the region. The purpose of tourism development in Ukraine is to create a favorable organizational, legal and economic environment for the development of the area based on the efficient use of natural resources and historical and cultural potential of Ukraine and ensuring its socio-economic interests and environmental security. Theoretical substantiation of the tourist resources as a key factor in tourism development and their role in socio-economic development allows to consider them as a set of certain factors: natural, climatic, socio-cultural and infrastructural, which affect living standards indirectly. It is important in the classification of resources to use an attractive approach – focusing on attractive and leisure facilities for tourists. Tourist resources must be attractive, accessible, safe, environmentally friendly, have a potential reserve and have the appropriate level of research. The study of tourist resources should take into account natural and socio-economic, cultural factors, as well as infrastructure development and quality of service. Optimal use of potential opportunities of tourist resources, historical and cultural potential allows not only to improve the economic condition of cities, regions of the country, but also to increase the efficiency of tourism enterprises and other participants in business processes, as well as to influence the social level welfare and promote the active infrastructure development of Ukraine’s regions. Abstract:
The study aimed to explore the factors contributing to the decline of the Animere language in Ghana by delving into its historical context, linguistic features, cultural significance, and the broader socio-economic dynamics at play. Employing a qualitative research design, the study conducted in-depth interviews with ten respondents from the Animere-speaking community, structuring the interview guide into four sections to focus on specific aspects of the Animere language. Through thematic analysis, the research identified several factors contributing to the language's decline, including external influences like media and education, internal community dynamics, generational shifts, and socio-economic motivations, while also highlighting the deep cultural significance of the language and its role in shaping the identity of its speakers. The study acknowledged limitations in its sample size and geographical scope, primarily focusing on specific regions where Animere speakers reside, suggesting that future research could benefit from a larger sample and a more diverse geographical representation. The findings underscore the need for educational reforms, media engagement, community initiatives, policy interventions, and economic incentives to address the decline of the Animere language. It calls for collaborative efforts involving educators, policymakers, community leaders, and media professionals to rejuvenate and celebrate the rich linguistic heritage of Animere. This research offers a comprehensive exploration of the decline of the Animere language, bridging the gap between linguistic research and socio-cultural dynamics, and provides valuable insights for linguists, anthropologists, policymakers, and community leaders interested in language preservation and cultural heritage.
