Abstract:
The article describes the stages and main activities carried out in the framework of the new economic policy (19211927) are considered. The place and role of NEP in the economic history of Russia, despite the past 100 years, are still following discussion issues. In particular, the question of the impact of a new economic policy on the formation of a mixed economy in developed capitalist countries in the second half of the 20th century was relevant. In the 1920s, an economic system was built in Russia in Russia, which can be developed as a mixed economy, which has proven its flexibility and effectiveness in solving the most complicated economic tasks. The article analyzes the experience of NEP based on the use of the methodology of institutional theory. The activities of the authorities during this period were aimed at the adaptation of old institutes, skills, mentality of the population in the conditions of a tight deficit of all resources to new requirements, primarily in the economy. The importance of the tasks facing the tasks and the limited time released by history to their decision determined the choice of a rigid totalitarian style of economic management and society, which did not allow to reveal the potential capabilities of the ECAP economic mechanism.

Abstract:
The key role of economic activities is in ensuring development and growth of both national and regional economies. Under the modern conditions, the prospects for development of the Arctic regions of the Russian Federation are associated with implementation of large investment projects, which should give an “impetus” to development of adjacent sectors and Arctic regions, i.e. implementation of these projects should be ensured by concentration of economic activities and their further spread. Basing on previous research, it was found out that economic activities in the Murmansk region are characterized by the critically low level of manifestation and non-static type of prevailing economic activities of businesses and the state. At the same time, the region has a significant potential for development caused by its economic and geographical location, unique natural resources and sufficiently developed infrastructure compared to other Russian regions of the Arctic. This paradox determines the risks of implementing the planned “megaprojects” in the region, and is conditioned by the peculiarities of socio-economic development of the region. Identification of the factors of socio-economic development of the Murmansk region, which determine its uniqueness, will be the basis for making recommendations for sustainable development of the region, contributing to resolution of the existing contradictions. The article analyzes and systematizes the factors of the socio-economic development of the region, which determine the manifestation specifics of economic activities in the region. Analysis, synthesis, comparison and grouping were used as methods. As a result, the author’s classification of factors of socio-economic development was proposed, which can become the basis for developing a strategy for optimizing the economic activities in the region adequate to its conditions. At the same time, the optimization of economic activities will mean achievement of such proportions in the regional economy in terms of the intensity of their manifestation by economic entities of different forms of ownership, which will contribute to achievement of sustainable regional development goals by influencing the behavior of economic entities.

Abstract:
SummaryIntegrated conservation and development projects (ICDPs) involve the establishment of parks and reserves with protective or buffer zones around them. Socio-buffering provides local residents with alternatives to traditional land-use activities, but the actual implementation of socio-buffering programmes is difficult.Socio-economic requirements and constraints to socio-buffering were assessed for the Mantadia National Park in eastern Madagascar based on five criteria. Previously unused lands for compensating people for loss of access to areas within the park were found to be insufficient. While there existed institutions and programmes for developing substitute land-use activities, successful adoption of these activities was crucially dependent on their economic viability. Socio-buffering activities need to not only provide goods that are substitutes for goods that are traditionally consumed, but they also need to be at least as profitable as traditional economic efforts. Also, if land and labour are not a constraint to agricultural expansion, socio-buffering activities can themselves result in increased deforestation. Finally, the long-term effectiveness of socio-buffering was likely to be dependent on the satisfaction of a number of stake-holder interests, and on explicit linkages developed between socio-buffering activities and conservation.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the disclosure of issues of legal regulation and the prospects for improving the system of socio-economic guarantees of deputy activity in Ukraine. As a result of the study, it has been substantiated that economic and social guarantees for ensuring the activities of the people's representatives are closely related to each other and act as a certain integrity. Economic guarantees, among which labor and material and financial guarantees stand out, are to ensure proper economic conditions for the activity of the deputy corps. The content of social guarantees is to meet the material and everyday needs of the deputy associated with the implementation of the representative man-date. Social guarantees are aimed at creating living conditions, recreation, medical care, social security for the deputy. It has been proved that domestic legislation is gradually getting rid of the Soviet political and legal tradition of broad regulation of socio-economic measures to ensure the people's representatives, since in recent years they have been optimized and rationalized, the elimination of those that contradicted the principle of equality and were a burden for the respective budgets. Today, domestic legislation provides virtually all known to foreign political science social and economic conditions for the work of MPs. In recent years, the system of social, household and financial guarantees of deputies 'activities has been optimized and rationalized, and those that contradict the principle of equality have not been eliminated, did not increase the efficiency of deputies' powers, and were an unnecessary burden on the respective budgets. Today the problem of ensuring openness and proper control over the issues of material and financial support of the deputy corps remains relevant.

Abstract:
The specificity of the tourist market and the connection of modern tourist products with numerous economic and non-economic activities cause the multiplicity of socio-economic effects of tourism. The development of tourism creates opportunities for a number of other activities, which means that tourism is a significant factor in boosting the overall economic development. Tourism plays a particularly important role in the overall socio-economic development of underdeveloped countries and regions. Tourism can contribute to positive socio-economic development, but at the same time, inadequate and uncontrolled management of a tourist destination can have negative socio-cultural, but also economic consequences. The paper investigates the basic socio-cultural and economic aspects and impacts of tourism. The authors pay special attention to the analysis of the multiplying effects of tourism on the development of a particular destination. Starting from the history of travel and tourism as an activity, key motives and socio-economic effects, the 2008 World Economic Crisis, its origin, causes, and consequences of its impact on the entire world economy, especially tourism, the authors analyzed the current economic indicators of tourism activity in the world economy and projections of expected trends. In this paper, the focus of the analysis is on the tourist travel and economic and socio-cultural impact of tourism on the tourist destination, the individual, and the society as a whole.

The fundamental question that comes to mind is; in what way did a health crisis translate to an economic crisis? How /why COVID-19 crippled many states economy in Nigeria? The answer lies in the methods in which COVID-19 has silenced economic activities ranging from the spread of the virus which translated to lockdown policy, band on interstate travel, restriction on movement, shutting down of worship centers, social distancing which led to the shutdown of businesses, trade, shutting down of the hospitality industries, commercial banks and events. We focused on the period from the start of March 2020 when the coronavirus began spreading into other states of the federation through May 4th, 2020 when the Federal government relaxed the lockdown policy. Our objective was to examine the socio-economic effect of the lockdown policy on business, transport and service/hospitality industries in three selected metropolis from three states within the period of relaxation. Using the multistage sampling method, we selected 300 respondents across the three sector examined. Data obtained via structured questionnaires was analysed using inferential statistics. This includes Multiple Regression Analysis, Coefficient for correlations of independent sample and analysis of variance (ANOVA) for significant impact samples. The findings reveal that the increasing number of lockdown days, interstate travel ban, social distancing, and restriction to essentials services severely affected the level of economic activities within the period under review. In contrast, CPL PSL RSM had negative relationship but significant impact in the model, while BSK and ITR negative non-significant impact in the models due to imposed restriction on internal movement, while the rest variables had positive significant effect on the level of economic activities.

Abstract:
Water quality and supply are central to the socio-economic development of any nation. Scarcity of potable water results in the construction of dams and water treatment plants. Unfortunately, provision of potable water through improvement and treatment may prove to be difficult because of the socio-economic activities around a dam. This study is aimed at assessing the socio-economic activities around the Alau Dam Maiduguri, and how they affect the quality of raw water supply to Maiduguri Water Treatment Plant. The data was generated through the administration of questionnaires, and by interview and water quality analysis of dam and irrigation sites. The samples were subjected to physical, chemical and biological analysis to assess the impact of socio economic activities on the dam water, and its suitabilityfor drinking and agricultural uses. Findings reveal pollution with high concentration of nitrate (260–230 mg-NO3/l), phosphate (22–28 mg/l) and Escherichia coli (13–24 n/100 mg). This arose from improper sanitary management, inadequate public education on irrigation, indiscriminate waste disposaland some farming practices. Regular monitoring of socio-economic activities around the dam, and doing away with unhealthy waste disposal practices are recommended to safeguard the raw water supply to the treatment plant.

This article is the result of a study that seeks to understand the relationship between socio-economic conditions, health and active ageing. We identified the activities related to active ageing in relation to health, the strategies used in active ageing and their determinants. We chose a qualitative methodology using semi-structured interviews and data processing that consisted of thematic content analysis in interviews. We carried out this analysis in two socio-economic groups of elderly Cape Verdean men and women in both groups making up a total of 22 cases. The socio-economic group interferes directly in the affairs of active ageing rather than health issues. In the higher socio-economic group, status determines active ageing rather than health issues. It is evident that in the group with lower socio-economic conditions, the latter act in parallel with health conditions and both determine activities developed by older people.

Abstract:
Among the factors in the development of tourist destinations the cooperation among economic subjects of the sphere of recreation and tourism occupies a special place. Foreign experts provided an evidence of a significant number of positive impacts of inter-firm cooperation and cooperation in the operation and development of a tourist destination, which necessitates a comprehensive assessment of socio-economic benefits of tourism activities, including an evaluation of the effectiveness of relationships between subjects in the sphere of recreation and tourism. This paper proposes a methodological approach to the study of social and economic benefits of tourist activities at the regional level, describes the main stages of its practical use: definition of the need for information collection and processing of raw data, evaluation of indicators, data analysis and development management decisions. Presented in this framework methodology involves assessing the socio-economic benefits of tourism activities in the region (a tourist destination) in three interrelated aspects: economic, social and effectiveness of relationships. Particular attention is paid to assessing the effectiveness of inter-firm relationships in the value chain of the tourist product as a component of social and economic benefits of tourism activities. A comprehensive assessment of the socio-economic benefits of tourism activities is required for the analysis of the possible ways of development of the sphere of recreation and tourism in the region, for the development of appropriate strategies which take into account both the existing potential of this sector, as well as socio-economic efficiency of the planned activities. In addition, the technique can be used as a reference and analytical tool for assessing the performance targets in terms of the effectiveness for the implementation of strategies for the development of tourism in the region. Practical use of the presented methodology is possible for assessing the socio-economic benefits of tourism activities, for regional, inter-regional studies and comparative studies of tourist destinations.

Abstract:
The notion of a cashless society is slowly becoming an inevitability of the modern way of doing business. Withdrawal of cash from use is the result of wide application of information and communication technologies. Increasing digitalization has contributed to the fact that most transactions are performed via smart devices (phones, tablets, desktops), without the use of cash and without going to the bank. The development of technological innovations, as well as innovations in finance, has undoubtedly contributed to increasing efficiency in business, but the question is whether the increasing digitalization of life and business, which is reflected in the creation of a cashless society, is still so desirable for humanity. The paper focuses on the socio-economic aspects of withdrawing cash from use. On the one hand, states are given the opportunity to influence economic activities even more directly through their central banks, while on the other hand, the issue is raised concerning human freedoms and rights in the digital world, in which it will be possible to electronically control the entire business.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the research of lobbying activities as an important component of the process of forming the state policy of socio-economic development. The author emphasizes that the Ukrainian economy has a high dependence on the external environment, as well as high sensitivity to global economic fluctuations. In turn, the openness of the country's economy is a significant factor in its involvement in modern value chains, global and regional integration. It is determined that securing a full-fledged public-private partnership in the modern world requires lobbying as a deliberate influence on the public by the authorities in order to make a number of economic decisions. The study found that the structure of the phenomenon of "lobbying" includes three main components: object, subject, technology. Thus, lobbying in the modern world appears to be a complex process of purposeful influence on the government in order to obtain the desired solution. The purpose of lobbying structures activities is often a series of decisions, in which the adoption of laws concerning economic activity and investment, innovation, and customs policies is of great importance. It is revealed that lobbying requires an extensive network of institutions and organizations - from trade unions and business owners to the media and civil society organizations. Significant influence on the advancement of national socio-economic priorities is exercised by consulting firms, mass media, non-state think tanks, various industry associations. Lobbying in developed countries is a tool for cooperation and communication that leads to progressive decisions that are beneficial to both business and society. This confirms the progressive experience of the USA and the EU. The study draws attention to the fact that Ukraine mainly practices shadow lobbying, since the activities of domestic lobbyists are not regulated by any legislative acts. This is explained by the fact that our business and political leaders benefit from such interaction when large financial and industry groups sponsor, large decision-makers and expensive electoral campaigns.
