The multiferroic BiFeO3 powders with perovskite structure were synthesized by sol-gel auto-combustion and conventional sol-gel methods, respectively. As-prepared powders were characterized by XRD, SEM and VSM techniques to investigate phase structure, microstructure and magnetic properties. The results show that the pure phase BiFeO3 powders are obtained successfully by sol-gel auto-combustion after calcining at 650°C for 2h and leaching by HNO3. Compared with conventional sol-gel method which got pure phase BiFeO3 powders at 800°C for 3h, the sol-gel auto-combustion technique can get more pur

Silver oxide (Ag2O) nanoparticles have been successfully synthesized through several methods, namely sol-gel, sonochemical, and biological methods. X-ray diffraction studies revealed that the sonochemical method produces silver oxide with high phase purity, then the sol-gel method produces another phase, namely silver crystals, while the biological method produces Ag3PO4 phase from the precursor media. The research showed that the sol-gel method had the smallest crystallite and particle sizes of 9.5 and 232.7 nm, respectively, compared to sonochemical and biological methods. It is known that t

Abstract:
Beside carbon black, silica powder is the other important filler used to reinforce various colored rubber products. In order to improve the compatibility between silica particles and rubber phase, this work has focused on preparing an NR composite, reinforced by silica generated inside the NR matrix or ‘in situ’. The silica particle was formed by a sol-gel process of tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) dispersed in NR latex. The latex used was concentrated latex having 60% rubber content, and already contained water and ammonia, two ingredients needed for the sol-gel reaction. The conversion of TEOS to s
