<p> Over the past century, changes in farming practices have resulted in an enormous increase in agricultural productivity. Substantial gains in crop yields were due to several factors, including the use of nitrogen fertilizers and pesticides (Youngquist, 1999). These chemicals are primarily derived from fossil fuels, such as petroleum and natural gas. Considering these are both finite resources, there is a need to develop alternative technologies that boost crop productivity in a sustainable way. Recent studies have proposed the use of endophytes to promote plant growth and increase yields. O

Abstract:

The potato plant is most famous and widely used agricultural crops in the world. Solanum tuberosum are used in many dishes, whether fried, boiled or mashed, and are a staple food in many countries. They also contain good amounts of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins such as vitamin C, and minerals such as magnesium. nine isolated were identified from the rhizosphere of Solanum tuberosum roots by using morphological and biochemical characterization and Polymerase Chain Reaction technology (PCR), The identified bacterial species were as follows: two isolates (A1, A2) belonged to Bacillus subtilis, f

In long-term ex situ conservation of plant germplasm in genetic banks, the main task is to pre-serve the viability of the seeds, since as a result of aging the seeds gradually lose their germination capacity and genetic homogeneity [6]. Therefore, the study of the storage potential (SP) of seeds is a very important step for ex situ conservation of plant genetic resources, especially during long-term storage of collection accessions in a plant genetic bank. In recent years, the determination of this potential has been practiced in many plant genetic banks in different countries [2, 4]. In order

Currently, the attention of researchers is directed towards microalgae and cyanobacteria due to their use as an alternative source of antibiotics. Among the first isolated antimicrobial compounds is chlorelin, from Chlorella sp. which is a mixture of fatty acids that inhibits the growth of both gram-positive and gramnegative bacteria. Eicosapentaenoic acid, hexadecatrienoic acid and palmitoleic acid isolated from Phaeodactylum tricornutum have been shown to possess antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus gram-positive strain. Abstract:
Anthonomus eugenii, or the pepper weevil, is a significant pest of Capsicum spp., causing major yield losses by destroying blossom buds and immature fruits. Native to Mexico, it has spread to Central America, the Caribbean, French Polynesia and Hawaii, USA. The weevil also affects other Solanaceae, including aubergines and some wild Solanum species. Economic impacts are severe, with up to 100% crop loss reported in some areas. In North America, greenhouse outbreaks have occurred, including one in British Columbia (Canada) and another in the Netherlands, both successfully eradicated. There has

Endophytes were isolated from 16.7% of surface-disinfested seeds and 100% of stems and roots of field-growth plants. Strains from Israel with broad-spectrum in vitro antibiosis were mainly Bacillus spp., and some were chitinolytic. Following dipping of cut cotton roots into suspensions of these strains, endophytes were detected up to 72 days later by isolation and by autoradiograms of 14C-labelled bacteria. Selected endophytes exhibited biological control potential based on significant reductions in disease severity on cotton inoculated with Rhizoctonia solani or Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. vasi
