Recent advances in innovative energy storage devices such as supercapacitors have made battery-supercapacitor hybrid energy storage systems technically attractive. However the field of hybrid energy storage system control is relatively new, involving the major challenge of developing control techniques optimised for improved battery-life or other performance metrics. This thesis presents the design and analysis of an actively controlled hybrid energy storage system. Detailed information is given regarding the system implementation and dynamic controls developed as a part of the research. Novel

Approaching problems with global warming due to the use of fossil fuels, means that new system solutions have to be investigated. This report investigates the possibility to expand an existing photovoltaic system with a wind turbine generator to simplify the expansion of renewable energy sources. Through an extensive literature study and simulation in SIMULINK the result has been developed and tested. It shows that it is possible to connect a wind turbine generator to the same inverter as the PV-modules if no MPPT algorithm for the PV-modules is integrated. To protect the inverter a dump load

Due to shortage of fossil fuels and the bad environmental effects, a lot of research is going on renewable energy sources. By the invention of high grade PV cells and better MPPT technique PV system is largely utilised now a days. To make it more reliable PV along with wind generator is used as a hybrid system. Many techniques are used to extract the maximum power from both the sources. Here Perturb and Observe method is used with little modification. In conventional hybrid system we use two dc-dc converter, i.e one DC-DC converter for each energy source. But here instead of two DC-DC conver
