Abstract:
The study aims to reveal politeness strategies used in natural interaction within a particular community group. The article analyses excerpts from audio recordings of conversations of teenage male friends. The chosen interactional approach relies on Goffman’s notion of face and Brown and Levinson’s model of linguistic politeness, ethnographic methods of collecting data, and conversation analysis. The case study continues the discussion of gender and age aspects of politeness realization and communication styles. The article reveals the following interactional solidarity strategies: teasing and group jokes, where participants add details to exaggerate the comic effect; ritual insults, in particular making up nicknames; synchronized speech pacing, even leading to creating spontaneous poetry. In the case of a request, the following politeness strategies and means are noted: repetition of words, both literal and with variations; increasing the volume and varying the speech rate, which express the common emotional state; decreasing the imposition with lexical means, markers of in-group identity; friend’s supporting through an offer and a jokily threat, language game (rhyming and deliberate mispronouncing), politeness marker "please" and its slang equivalent “pazhe”, minimizing the degree of a favour; using markers of group identity (“brother”), offering help and threating jokingly, using puns (rhyme and deliberate change of the phonetic form of a word), and increasing volume and prosodic emphasis that express an emotional state. Participants experiment with communicative strategies, sometimes pushing the degree of their expression to the edge and turning it into a performance. Applying the solidarity strategies in a more expressive and playful way seems to be a feature of the adolescent communication style. The data analysed reveals the local, cultural (and supposedly age) specifics of employing the universal face-saving mechanism of the communication.

Abstract:
This article argues that, in the face of worsening conditions from climate change, enhanced border enforcement, a growing wealth gap, housing crises, and policing, social movements should focus on expanding mutual aid strategies. Mutual aid projects directly address survival needs, mobilize large numbers of people to participate in movements actively rather than solely participating online or through voting, and offer spaces to practice new social relations. The article looks at examples from efforts for migrant justice, police and prison abolition, disaster relief, and other contemporary struggles and discusses potential pitfalls of mutual aid strategies, such as supplementing and therefore stabilizing existing systems of maldistribution and adopting principles and practices from the charity frameworks that proliferate in capitalism.

Abstract:
The transition from Fordist manufacturing to the so-called knowledge economy confronts organized labor across the advanced market economies with a new and more difficult landscape. Many scholars have suggested that the future of egalitarian capitalism depends on forging new political coalitions that bridge the interests of workers in the “new” and “old” economies. This article explores current trajectories of change in Denmark and Sweden, two countries that are still seen as embodying a more egalitarian model of capitalism. The authors show that labor unions in these countries are pursuing two quite different strategies for achieving social solidarity—the Danish aimed at equality of opportunity and the Swedish aimed at equality of outcomes. The article examines the origins of these different strategic paths and explores the distinctive distributional outcomes they have produced. The conclusion draws out the broad lessons these cases hold for the choices currently confronting labor movements throughout the advanced industrial world.

Abstract:
Communication has an important role in a community to support high solidarity between members. But not all communities know what things can build solidarity between members. Therefore, administrators in the community think about how to build solidarity within the group, how to keep the group members afloat, and also how to maintain group members so that they still have a family attitude and also care for one another. Of course in this community, some members are chosen to be community administrators, and changed every year. Some of these members have roles as chairperson, public relations officer, and treasurer. The role of a chairperson includes many things, managing members, organizing events, looking for useful information for the community and also building cohesiveness within the community. The communication process that takes place in ICON uses the Laswell communication model which is one-way, i.e. the community leader gives direction to community members directly or through WhatsApp group media. The approach used in this research is descriptive-qualitative and with the case study method. The research subject in this study was ICON. While the object of research in this study is the communication process in forming solidarity that is used by ICON in increasing solidarity within groups and also building a good image in the eyes of the community. Data collected by interview, documentation, and literature study. The conclusion of this study is that ICON uses communication strategies in the form of publications, events, community participation, CSR. In addition, to build the solidarity of its members, ICON often holds touring, Sunday morning rides, and kopdar.

Abstract:
This paper delves deeply into the pivotal role that solidarity journalism plays in shaping media discourse, particularly during times of wartime and crisis, with a central focus on its profound impact during the course of Russia's war on Ukraine. By conducting a thorough investigation into the multi-dimensional aspects of solidarity journalism, this study delves into the intricate strategies media outlets employ to utilize various indicators of solidarity. These strategies are deployed not only to foster collective stress resistance, but also to provide essential psychological support to audiences during periods of upheaval. The paper emphasizes the importance of media's portrayal of prosocial behaviors and positive micro-moments, which collectively contribute to the reinforcement of resilience within communities when they are facing challenging circumstances. To contextualize its findings, the paper offers a detailed analysis of the specific case of Russia's war on Ukraine. In doing so, it underscores the instrumental role that media solidarity plays in empowering the communities directly affected by such conflicts. By leveraging solidarity journalism's inherent capacity to foster unity and resilience, media outlets can significantly contribute to mitigating the often-negative effects of fear-laden narratives during times of wartime. The article presents the findings of a pilot study of President Wolodymir Zelensky’s solidarity discourse. They illustrate the use of salient linguistic means and discursive strategies of solidarity building in the light of the Russian military attack on Ukraine in 2022. Based on discourse analysis and corpus linguistics, the study focuses on the linguistic patterns of constituting inclusivity through personal deixis. This is complemented by the mapping of an overarching discursive strategy of the construction of togetherness, namely proximization. Conducted from the perspective of the solidarity leader, the research identifies the above strategies as crucial to shaping political support by developing a community of shared values and experiences.

Abstract:
Abstract COVID-19 and its social and political consequences have led to increased attention to the sometimes philosophically neglected concept of solidarity. This paper reflects the discourse on solidarity in times of COVID-19 from the viewpoint of the philosophical debate on solidarity. We argue that currently – regarding this debate – the critical potential of solidarity as a political concept is often undermined. Solidarity should rather be used as a social-diagnostic lens to focus on and criticise problematic exclusions caused by current political developments. This applies especially to the cross-border and transnational dimension of political solidarity, which is often neglected in the national constrictions of political COVID-19 strategies. The paper concludes with observations on which levels and in which directions the reflection on solidarity could stimulate both the political and the philosophical debate on global crises such as COVID-19.

Assim, como apontam os resultados, as sobreposições, em sua grande maioria, têm como função sinalizar solidariedade, beneficiando a interação e, consequentemente, a solução dos problemas/ questões que orientam a ação tanto do cliente quanto do atendente.<br>Studies in intercultural communication have, in general, focused on misunderstandings and failure in this type of interaction. In this work, it is intended to investigate the participants’ efforts to be successful in a service encounter that has English as a lingua franca. The focus of this study is the use of overlaps, dealt under the theory of the Conversation Analysis. Although the overlaps can function as a mechanism of turn taking, usually followed by the taking of the conversational floor, the use of overlaps, in the data analyzed, has shown that the participants are oriented to an understanding, as it can be seen when they happen in a non-relevant transitional place. Therefore, as the results indicate, the overlaps, in the majority of the cases, function to signal solidarity, benefiting the interaction and, consequently, the solution of the problems which orient the action of the client and the attendant.

Abstract:
This study aims to contribute to the poverty studies in Turkey in terms of the capability approach introduced to the scientific literature by Nobel Laureate thinker Amartya Sen. The approach is closely connected with the idea of justice and particularly with the Rawls&rsquo<br>s model of social justice. This study&rsquo<br>s perception of justice is based on the idea that justice is the virtue of the institutions, but not that of individuals. Although the Rawls&rsquo<br>s justice analysis is approved in terms of making institutional analysis, his perception regarding to the rights are criticized since these are perceived as &ldquo<br>ends&rdquo<br>but not the &ldquo<br>means&rdquo<br>of individuals&rsquo<br>welfare. Therefore, it is claimed in this study that holding certain sets of rights are not significant by themselves, but how they can be converted into personal wellbeing is crucial as well. In this framework, poverty is considered as capability deprivation and it is claimed that poverty analyses based on commodity ownership are not satisfactory. As the case of this study, General Directorate of Social Assistance and Solidarity organized as the main state institution so as to alleviate the poverty in Turkey has been chosen and the question of whether the relief programs of the institution are designed to alleviate poverty by enhancing individuals&rsquo<br>capabilities is raised. It has been concluded in this study that (1) income centred poverty perception of the institution does not take into account the variations in needs, (2) the reliefs are designed to increase economic productivity of individuals but not the valuable capabilities and (3) the operational logic of the institution is based on managing poverty, but not alleviating it.

Abstract:

Full text
Abstract:
Le principe de solidarité écologique appelle à les renforcer et, de manière plus générale, à faire évoluer l’ensemble des décisions concernées par le principe<br>Adopted by article 2 from act nr 2016-1087 concerning the reconquest of biodiversity, nature and landscape of August 8th 2016, the principle of ecological solidarity calls “for taking into consideration the interactions of ecosystems, living creatures and natural or developed environments in all public decisions having a notable impact on the environment of the territories concerned”.This general principle of environmental law inscribed in article L110 1 of the environmental code is designed to preserve the interactions of ecosystems and ecological processes as well as to improve the environmental management of the territories. The duality of its objective renders it a highly valuable principle which should be applied to numerous decisions. Various supranational foundations, within jurisprudence and in international and European laws, can thus be assigned to it. In the context of ecological interdependence the evolution of the international and European dimension of the principle remains essential in order to see the benefits concerning the safeguarding of biodiversity. It is greatly enhanced, as regards internal law, by the fact that it is at the very center of the environment's equilibrium. It justifies the right to a balanced environment and extends the constitutional principles of prevention and sustainable development. Confronted with the crisis of world-wide biodiversity extinction that threatens our survival, the principle of ecological solidarity emerges as the last chance to preserve it. Two major groups of systems allow us to measure the dynamics of the principle of ecological solidarity: the green and the blue line belt network and the Ocean and coastline Governance Framework. They constitute a basis on which to develop ecological solidarity and represent the beginnings of new legislation. The principle of ecological solidarity requires them to be reinforced and more generally to advance all decisions concerned by the principle

Abstract:
As real as it can be, referring to the traditional relations between developed and developing countries or countries linked by colonization relations as the one best way to explain the nature of those interorganizational relations may induct a wrong interpretation. Indeed, in that perspective, their relations can only be read such as signs of domination. However, this way of reading the North-South inter-organizational partnerships is a limited andpartial point of view. But using theoretical approaches such as those proposed by the actor’s strategy analysis where power is considered as a negotiated relationship according to the constraints and challenges of the different organizations, these relations can be differently read. For example they can be interpreted as a set of strategies which aim to acquire or strengthen legitimacy which is such a guarantee for their projects and organizations to be funded. In this way, the model which consist in recruiting consultants as a third party in the partnerships between northern and southern, NGOs has to be interpreted more than a simple sign of domination. Based on the case of study of three European NGO’s partners in Togo, this thesis focuses on thepractical needs met by this model and shows the difference between behaviours prescribed and those actually adopted by the actors, reflecting the strategies of each other according to their stakes

Abstract:
This study uses European researcher Tomas Valasek’s hypothesis about factors required for defence cooperation in order to achieve conditions which can be successfully applied to the Nordic defence cooperation NORDEFCO. The study uses only Norway and Sweden on the grounds that they are the original actors and the driving forces behind the defence cooperation. The factors studied are; the countries' strategic culture, solidarity and trust between countries, similarity in military forces, if similar conditions prevail in the defence industry and if the intentions of cooperation have been clarified. Mainly government documents in the form of propositions, orientations and defence documents are studied, together with previous research in this area and, especially, interviews with representatives of NORDEFCO at military level and policy level as well as outside perspectives from the military attachés in each country. With the intention of studying the extent to which the factors Valasek features may prove to be significant in assessing the conditions for enhanced cooperation in NORDEFCO, the study raises the question of how it is possible to find expressions for the factors. The question presented continuously throughout the analysis and following the study answers the question whether certain factors appear to be more relevant than others for the development of Nordic cooperation. It has been shown that Nordic cooperation is likely to emanate from factors such as strategic culture and similarities in the armed forces. Intentions of this cooperation are considered to be identified, although with more far-reaching intentions from the Swedish perspective. Trust is built gradually step by step, but the fact that each country has its own security ties; solidarity has proven to be of minor importance to the cooperation. The single most important factor for future development is considered by all interviewees as well as previous researchers and myself, to be that of similar conditions for the defence industry. If conditions for the defence industry were commonly set in a Nordic context, these would probably facilitate reaching a higher level of cooperation.

Abstract:
The present study seeks to identify, analyse and reflect about the perceptions of workers concerning the human resources management practices and the organisational commitment. The main goal is to identify and analyse the relationship between those practices and the organisational commitment of the ACM (Associação Cristã da Mocidade) workers of Setúbal, a Social Security Private Institution. As for the specific objectives it is intended: to characterise the organisation and the human resources management practices of the organisation; to identify the several types of organisational commitment and relate the human resources management practices with the organisational commitment. So, it is important to define as a theoretical starting point of this study, a brief mention of the human resources management and also of the organisational commitment through the unidimensional and multidimensional model of Meyer and Allen (1997). The data collection technique used was the survey questionnaire for the human resources management practices tested by Esteves (2008), with the purpose of gauging the perception of workers about the human resources management practices in the organisation. As regards the analysis of the organisational commitment it was used the model of Meyer and Allen (1997), adapted from Nascimento et al. (2008) in order to validate the “three components model of the organisational commitment” in the portuguese reality. At the same time, the semi-directing interview and documentary analysis were also carried out. On the whole the results in this study meet and agree with some empirical studies, namely the one made to the teachers of a higher education institution (Cordeiro, 2014). The author was able to conclude that the teachers have different levels of organisational commitment and are anchored by their personal and professional characteristics.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This introductory chapter develops an original framework to explain why unions are more or less successful in containing the spread of precarious work. It argues that employment precarity is both an outcome of and a central contributing factor to a mutually reinforcing feedback relationship between labour market, welfare state, and collective bargaining institutions; worker identity and identification; and employer and union strategies. This framework builds on academic discussions of institutional change, dualism, and precarious work from three broad research traditions: comparative political economy, critical sociology, and comparative employment relations. The chapter reviews this literature, outlines the framework, and discusses the chapter findings in the book with reference to the framework.

Abstract:
This book embraces a transnational Africana perspective as crucial for conceptualizing an end to gender violence in the United States. Locating herself as an African American Christian leader, Traci West candidly criticizes religious responses to black women victim-survivors in the U.S. as too culturally insular and complacent. Then, in an investigation stressing the role of religion and anti-black racism West explores a decidedly expansive and activist alternative moral approach linking African and African diaspora contexts. Lessons on the politics of intercultural encounters emerge as the reader journeys with her to meet antiviolence leaders in Ghana, Brazil, and South Africa. West’s reflections on their strategies to create systemic responses to the violence together with its cultural support spark analyses of similar dynamics in the United States. The discussion of religion includes Christianity, Islam, Candomblé, and indigenous African religious traditions. Analyses of violence against women emphasize heterosexual marital rape, sex trafficking, and the targeting of lesbians for rape and murder. The book offers generative ideas connecting antiracist gender violence activism to religions and spirituality in order to broaden our moral imaginations with the capacity to create lasting cultural change. The conclusion conceptualizes defiant Africana spirituality as a resource drawn upon by antiviolence activist leaders that can birth hope for building vital, transnational solidarity in the work of ending gender violence.

Abstract:
Abstract The concept of solidarity has received increasing attention in discussions about public health interventions, both as a possible justification for such interventions and as a possible motivating factors for individual action. This chapter provides an analysis of whether thinking through a lens of solidarity is likely to be helpful in devising strategies and policies to combat antimicrobial resistance. It first provides a critical overview of recent accounts of solidarity and argues that solidarity must be understood as a group based concept. It then applies this conception of solidarity to individual use of antibiotics through a case study of the antibiotic treatment of moderate and severe acne where it is argued that solidarity based thinking is valuable within a context of shared decision-making. Issues of policy making are then discussed and it is argued that basing a policy on solidarity on the one hand constrains the methods chosen to pursue public health goals, but that on the other hand solidarity may provide a strong and durable motivation to comply with such a policy. The limits of solidarity are explored in the final section and it is concluded that 1) the concept of solidarity does have an important role to play in thinking about public health, 2) considerations of solidarity can help us shape the goals and methods of public health policies in the area of antibiotics, and 3) that it is likely that solidarity may also be helpful in thinking through other contentious issues in public health.

Sarah Earnshaw directs attention toward cultural production to explore the tensions and transformative relations of solidarity through the documentary films Live Nude Girls Unite! (2000) and Made in L.A. (2007). Documents of mobilisation by women worker organisers in sex and garment work, the films mediate the material and social relations of class across multiple lines of oppression and centre workers often left out of frame in mainstream labour discourse. Exploring the documentary form as suturing class struggle while retaining recognition of differentiation, the chapter discusses screening labour before turning to narrative strategies of storytelling and negotiations of public/private, finally considering the role of place in filmic practices as mapping solidarity from below.

Abstract:
Abstract Over the last years, Italian civil society organisations have been working on a daily basis to mitigate the impact of both the global economic crisis and the refugee crisis, which have increased social vulnerabilities. Relying on the data gathered through 30 in-depth interviews with transnational solidarity organisations’ representatives, this chapter analyses solidarity practices in three fields of activity: disability, unemployment and migration. Results show that solidarity attitudes, practices and discourses are strongly influenced by the policy domain in which the organisations are active. Furthermore, the crisis led organisations to search for new strategies and approaches, even though it has been an ineffective vector of transnationalisation due to lack of resources, and the necessity to cope with pressing needs at national and local level/s.

Abstract:
Abstract Solidarity was a central concern for progressive movement organizations during the pandemic. This chapter explores the narratives of urban movements in Italy in three fields in which solidarity initiatives are widespread: migration, housing and care. In particular, through frame-analysis it aims to shed light on how solidarity and contentious actions are entwined in the strategies of collective actors dealing with contemporary urban transformation. The chapter is based on the analysis of 25 self-produced documents that have been published on blogs, social media webpages and in journals by 25 collective organizations or movement networks based in two Italian cities: Florence and Palermo. Generally speaking, the various collective actors identify the unequal access to services as the main source of social problems and injustices in their cities. With regard to the solutions presented, there is a call to recognize direct social action and solidarity as the only way to overcome such difficulties, but also for public institutions to guarantee civic, political and social rights. In this sense, solidarity also connects to a new, broader meaning of care, which often emerges as care for both people and the locality, aligning with environmental and healthcare issues.

Abstract:
AbstractThis paper shows how Korean speakers use different strategies to increase solidarity among newly acquainted interlocutors in performing common tasks by co-constructing through the negotiation process of their interactional identities and adjusting themselves to the right level of intimacy and/or politeness within the given interaction. According to (Swann, Journal of Personality and Social Psychology 53:1038–1051, 1987), 2008), “identity negotiation” refers to the processes where interactants try to find a balance between their interactional and identity-related goals, keeping a conflict-free relation between their interpersonal and intrapersonal interactions. The ways in which Korean speakers negotiate their situational and interactional identity will be illustrated using excerpts taken from TV talk shows, reality shows, or dramas where different participants achieve what is considered an adequate level of intimacy with their conversational partners within the given tasks as the show participants. In interactions where Korean speakers meet for the first time, it is very common to see how they exchange personal information. Among them, interlocutors’ age is very often exchanged at the very early stage of their encounter. In many reality shows and talk shows on Korean TV, participants often start their first-time encounter by asking about their age and work-related backgrounds. Interlocutors achieve an increased level of intimacy by assigning newinteractional identities to themselves, that of (a) friends (=same age), (b) siblings (=different age), or (c) senior/junior (work-related). Oftentimes, this process is streamlined by adjusting their speech styleand/or address terms that match their newly constructed identities in order to successfully perform their common tasks.

Abstract:
This study analyses the strategies and measures adopted by the European Union to address the growing problem of energy poverty. European, national and regional policies will be examined (with particular attention to the interventions put in place by the Sicilian Region), the financial support programmes and awareness raising initiatives implemented in Member States to combat energy poverty. The survey highlights best practices and persistent challenges, with a focus on the impact of sustainable energy policies and the accessibility of energy resources for the most vulnerable segments of the population. The Sicily Region, through its investment support programme, has promoted energy and environmental sustainability in the Sicilian municipalities by setting up a Community of Renewable and Solidarity Energies. With the voluntary participation of public and private entities, energy communities have been established to carry out activities of production and virtual sharing of electricity thus guaranteeing low prices and consequently protecting vulnerable people; Improved efficiency in consumption; the possibility of being competitors in the energy market. The results of the analysis conducted show that the trilemma of energy, as defined by the World Energy Council, namely the simultaneous pursuit of energy security, Environmental sustainability and socially equitable access to energy sources can be achieved provided there is an integrated approach that combines social and energy policies.

Abstract:
The global food system faces environmental, social and legal challenges. Primary production has become increasingly dependent on external inputs from industrial companies, which contribute to the rising cost of nutritious food and decreasing the income of producers, particularly the producers in primary production. Adopting alternative models of short food supply chains can reduces those negative effects and moves the agri-food supply chain towards some Agenda 2030 sustainable developments goals and aims of European Strategies in the agrifood field. The present paper analyses the benefits of a short food supply chain model, the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA), whereby the farm receives financial support from the consumer community and offers to customers the access to nutritious and seasonal food. From a legal perspective, the CSA model presents several benefits, including increased agricultural productivity, highfarmer income, fast direct marketing and sharing business risks between farmers and consumers. Furthermore, the CSA model is aligned with several sustainable development goals set out in the mission Zero Hunger. The paper highlights benefits and limits of CSA as production and consumption model and its capability to satisfy the interests of producers, who receive maximum profit from their work, and consumers, whose consumption choices reduce environmental impacts. Some of the limitations of CSA arise from the lack of legislation governing this model. Indeed, despite its prevalence in Europe, CSA has not been formally regulated by European legal systems. In the CSA, the agreement between consumers and local producers characterised by a commitment to solidarity, participation and the achievement of sustainable development goals, represents a potential instrument for the planning of a new agricultural model. Therefore, the implementation of CSA models represents a crucial opportunity to rethink the agri-food system and address the current challenges it is facing.

Abstract:
This article focuses on joke as the strategy of positive politeness in American interview discourse. Positive politeness is connected with the expression of solidarity and the assurance of the interlocutor that he is a dear man and friend, and his aspirations and personal qualities are accepted and shared by the speaker. Positive politeness strategies are employed for reducing the threat or harm done to the positive face of the hearer. It is achieved with the help of the statement that the speaker shares the values, aspirations, personal qualities or achievements of his interlocutor. P. Brown and S. Levinson distinguish 15 strategies of positive politeness, one of which is joke. Jokes help to make communication easier and more relaxed and bring the speaker and the hearer closer together as they are based on mutual shared background or experience. It unites the interviewer and the guest and consequently reduces the damage to their positive face.

Abstract:
Purpose This study aims to investigate how social media usage influences different facets of cultural identity including such as traditional beliefs, family solidarity, and community involvement among individuals from diverse generations. The study particularly emphasizes the dual role of social media in preserving traditional culture while also fostering connections across generational divides. Additionally, the study seeks to uncover innovative approaches for facilitating intergenerational discussions and interactions on cultural identity topics through social media platforms. Design/methodology/approach Quantitative research methods were utilized in this study, which involves surveying 258 social media users spanning across multiple generations. Findings In line with the study's findings, social media appears to hold promise for fostering cultural connection across generations and promoting traditional values. Three key aspects of cultural identity emerged as most impacted by social media usage: a sense of spirituality, a feeling of shared community (consensual solidarity), and active involvement within the community (attending social events). This influence was strongest for Generation Y, those between 23 and 38 years old. The study also revealed a gender difference, with women experiencing a greater impact of social media on their cultural identity compared to men. Research limitations/implications 229 Individuals across different generations who engage with social media for cultural and religious purposes could find value in this study. Additionally, marketers can draw insights from the study to improve their strategies for fostering customer confidence in cultural identity campaigns on social media. Practical Implications Businesses can leverage this understanding to refine advertising strategies and product offerings for targeted audiences. Study insights may guide policies on internet regulation, digital literacy, and cultural conservation, aiding governments in promoting diversity. Community leaders and activists can utilize findings to advocate for inclusive cultural representation on social media, fostering exchange and unity within communities. Originality/value In contrast to past studies, the research aims to identify generational disparities in cultural values and technology fluency by cultivating a sense of shared community and supporting traditional values across generations. Current research might overlook how different age groups (raised with vs. without social media) utilize these platforms for cultural identity exploration and expression. The framework offered by the research models advances the concept of encouraging good online experiences and cultural connections and aids companies in developing their tactics.

Abstract:
The study reflects the specificity and mechanisms of violence in social interaction situations in war conditions. Analyzed are the structure and mechanisms of social interaction in communication between parents and their children during the educational process conducted in war conditions. The specifics of manifestations of aggression and violence in the social interaction of adolescents are outlined. Social interaction has its own organizational logic, determined by the contexts of interaction and implemented through interaction rituals. Misaligned expectations of social interaction can lead to implementing alternative interaction strategies, which can vary from avoidance to aggression and violence. Social interaction in the conditions of war transforms. Manifestations of aggression and violence destroy the barrier of confrontational tension, changing the bilateral vector of social interaction. The aggressor does not show solidarity by showing violence. He seizes the initiative to set the emotional rhythm of social interaction and subordinates the needs and expectations of the victim to his needs for dominance. The aggressor may perceive the victim as a physical obstacle to achieving goals. The emotional dimension is essential for the analysis of violence and aggression. Teenagers may assume the victim role during a fight due to insufficient social subjective power. In situations of joint learning, the child’s needs and expectations are subordinated due to their physical weakness. The designated interaction situations, the elements of aggression and violence, are different in their structure and certain ritual acts. Both fights among teenagers and situations of joint learning with parents and children require compliance with the norms and rules of solidarity interaction. However, in both cases, aggression and violence are a consequence of the destruction of the expectations of the actors of the interaction and the capture of the partner’s emotions through dominance and rigid submission.

Abstract:
Abstract Drilling wells with TOT-3P design consists of optimizing (reducing) the steps of well construction. Drilling takes place in 3 sections (3P=3 phases) and the completion, sand containment screen plus production column (upper and lower), is performed in a single trip (TOT = True One Trip). The construction of wells in 3 sections is only possible with the deepening of the casing of the second section of the well and the capacity of this casing to have the function of surface and production. Some challenges stand out this project, such as the gain of inclination, cleaning and stability of the open well in a riserless phase, in addition to the need to return cement to the mud line for structural purposes and guarantee the solidarity set of barriers. Because drilling has only three sections, the shoe surface/production casing should be deepened in such a way that it is competent to withstand the production loadings, the pressure influence of injector wells and compose the solidary set of barriers (SSB) for abandonment, as well as enable the installation of components of the tubing at the required depth, such as the gas lift mandrel (GLM). To analyze the feasibility of the TOT-3P project, some points are studied: Analysis of flow potential of the shallow sands crossed in section II;Surface/production casing shoe racing analysis for well construction and for well productive life;Depths of tubing modulates (PDG, chemical injection mandrel and gas lift mandrel) to meet production monitoring, combat fouling and well production. Thus, integrated strategies for Drilling, Fluids and Cementation were defined in order to obtain the objectives mentioned through a bore caliper with diameter that allows a good cementation to be performed and obtained a satisfactory result in the cementation evaluation profiles, leading to the return of cement to mud line and composition of 2 solidary sets of barriers in annular above the reservoir.

Abstract:
The paper is a study based on two projects (Grandkit and MyStory) funded by the European Commission (under KA3 ICT/ GRUNDTVIG Multilateral) which were implemented by EuroEd Foundation, Iasi and having as one of the target groups a large number of students at the School of Medicine in Iasi. Both projects start from a real phenomenon which Europe is facing nowadays: population ageing. The economic effects of an ageing population are considerable. As a result, new policies, mechanisms and strategies need to be promoted and developed as these initiatives could ensure that ageing becomes a creative and active, rather than a negative and frustrating, experience for all. Our societies have to promote solidarity between different groups of people, young and old. It is our belief that the more socially integrated the elderly are, the more gains our society will have. The more grandparents participate in family life, the stronger family bonds are. This will positively affect the younger generation (grandchildren) who are more and more exposed to social problems. The article presents several opportunities explored by the projects as well as the strategies developed in order to help bridge the gap between different groups of people and different generations. We analyse the intergenerational learning opportunities provided by the projects, highlighting the exchange of ideas and experiences between generations. Ageing is perceived as positive and dynamic; both generations share the same joy of learning. The benefits of both generations in terms of participants' well-being, social integration, communication, and ICT skills are also considered.

Community-based solid waste management as an income source in popular neighbourhoods. Universidad del Valle, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.25100/policy-briefs.pb.06-eng.

Abstract:
Traditionally, comprehensive habitat upgrading programmes have focused on building basic service infrastructure, but have neglected key aspects such as income generation based on solidarity processes, which are typical of self-built popular neighbourhoods. This Policy Brief argues that community-based solid waste management based on Zero Waste strategies may become a significant livelihood opportunity in popular neighbourhoods and proposes a series of recommendations in this regard. It should be highlighted that Zero Waste is not only understood as a strategy to improve income but also as a means to reduce health and environmental impacts associated with inappropriate waste management. This approach also allows contributions aimed at promoting the transition towards circular economy models that contribute to strengthening the social fabric in neighbourhoods where solidarity and mutual support have been key to advancing individual and collective projects.

Iwara, MaryAnne. Hybrid Peacebuilding Approaches in Africa: Harnessing Complementary Parallels. RESOLVE Network, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.37805/pn2020.15.lpbi.

Abstract:
Many of the most pressing conflicts across sub-Saharan Africa today—including violent extremism, sexual and gender-based violence, pastoralist/farmer conflicts, and criminal banditry—are shaped by local, community-level drivers. Despite these local drivers, however, international peacebuilding approaches often ignore or neglect bottom-up, grassroots strategies for addressing them. Often, international efforts to contribute to the prevention and management of local conflicts depend heavily on large-scale, expensive, and external interventions like peacekeepers, while under-investing in or by-passing traditional/customary mechanisms and resources that uphold locally defined values of peace, tolerance, solidarity, and respect. Recognizing that these traditional and customary practices themselves sometimes have their own legacies of violence and inequality, this policy note emphasizes the possibility of combining aspects of traditional peacebuilding mechanisms with international conflict management approaches to harness the benefits of both.

Abstract:
This class note helps to develop skills that enable students to generate ideas of digital, social, and solidarity entrepreneurship from identifying social problems. It begins by emphasizing the need to promote digital, social, and supportive entrepreneurship. Then it defines social problems that are articulated with the national legal framework and the sustainable development goals (SDGs). Next, it describes the business idea as an opportunity to solve a social problem, working throughout the process under the Design Thinking methodology. This technique is focused on creativity and is used strongly for problem-solving, business modeling, strategic planning, and idea development, allowing for innovation in many aspects focused on the user. This approach helps to identify what people need and want, as well as what they like or dislike. Finally, the learning unit’s product is explained, which must be a technical sheet that reflects the use of the Design Thinking methodology as a strategy for obtaining business ideas. Through these contents, students develop the competence to analyze social problems, generate ideas of digital, social, and solidarity entrepreneurship that are aligned with existing policies and the SDGs.

Doane, Daniel, Ameera Kanjee, and Jennifer Nelson. Report Caribbean Connect: Building the Pan-American Highway for Digital Health. Inter-American Development Bank, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0013204.

Full text
Abstract:
From July 23-25th 2024, representatives from seven Caribbean countries and international partner organizations gathered in Kingston, Jamaica for Caribbean Connect: Building the Pan-American Highway for Digital Health. Hosted by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO), the objective of the conference was to provide a platform for information sharing, learning, and strategic priority setting among Caribbean countries with active IDB operations related to digital health. Caribbean Connect also introduced participants to the vision for the Pan-American Highway for Digital Health (PH4H), an initiative led by the IDB and PAHO/WHO, and engaged countries to contribute to the initiative in advance of its formal launch in October 2024. Caribbean Connect advanced the participating countries visions for digital health by 2030 by creating a platform for sharing knowledge and building capacity among information technology and healthcare professionals, policymakers, and government leaders. These deliberations were centered around how to implement and leverage digital health solutions effectively. The conference aimed to foster a sense of sub-regional solidarity and cooperation, as countries shared their experiences, challenges, and solutions, paving the way for collaborative projects and initiatives that can have a broader impact in the Caribbean.

Hellriegel, Maximilian, and Sara Schmitt Pacífico.

Abstract:

Community approaches and government policy reduce HIV risk in the Dominican Republic. Population Council, 2004. http://dx.doi.org/10.31899/hiv15.1003.

Full text
Abstract:
Effective programs that avert new HIV infections among sex workers and their partners, and hence the general population, are critical components of national HIV-prevention strategies. Prevention efforts have frequently relied on interventions that reach members of these vulnerable groups as individuals, such as condom promotion and STI management. Now, many researchers and program implementers are increasingly turning to “environmental-structural” interventions that address the physical, social, and political contexts in which individual behavior takes place. A recent Horizons study conducted jointly with two Dominican NGOs—Centro de Orientación e Investigación Integral and Centro de Promoción e Solidaridad Humana—and the National Program for the Control of STDs and AIDS assessed the impact of two environmental-structural models in reducing HIV-related risk among female sex workers in the Dominican Republic and compared their cost-effectiveness. As detailed in this brief, the models, built on years of experience gained from sex worker peer education programs, drew from the strengths of both community solidarity and government policy initiatives and engaged community members in both program and policy development.
