Statement of the problem. “ Living legend” – this is what the outstanding jazz saxophonist Theodore Walter “Sonny” Rollins (born in 1930) is called. An important period in the formation of jazz is associated with his name, which can be described as transitional, stylistically diverse, preceding the innovations of the second half of the 20th century. “Eclectic jazz”, demonstrated by S. Rollins, actually means a diverse palette of genres that are part of his holistic style. His playing is marked by the depth of expressive emotionality and richness of sound, which arouses lively interest in his w

Alex Proyas’s 2004 film I, Robot depicts a crisis of white identity in the figure of the marginalized NS-5 robot, Sonny. The anxiety prompted by this crisis is resolved via a parable of racial reconciliation between the “unique” white robot and the black detective Del Spooner (played by Will Smith). The film’s evocation of a post-white mythology is laden with ironies and contradictions, however. Like whiteness itself, the robot is able to slip in and out of racial tropes: on the one hand, it offers a critique of white supremacy in its desire to overcome racialized oppression; on the other hand

I open with two philosophical gestures that point to the two quandaries that motivate this paper. First, the (im)possibility of biography—an account of some one's life—a documenting that usually, for better or worse, takes the lives of individuals as exemplary to the community, thus setting them apart from, rather than making them part of, the community of counterparts. And second, the problem discourse itself creates: When saying what we mean, does the message always reach its “indicated address” or audience? The digital revolution has changed the music industry, providing more access, distribution and consumption for music. For Sony, this is both an opportunity and a challenge. On the one hand, digitization has expanded Sony's global reach, made music spread more efficiently, and established connections with a wider audience. It also promotes the development of new music technologies and formats. However, it has also led to increased competition and the need to adapt to changing consumer behavior and marke

The objective of this study is to investigate the details of the average and unsteady flow structures in front, inside and after shallow (h/D = 0.1) spherical and cylindrical dimples placed on a flat plate at the different distances with different pre-dimple boundary layer thicknesses. The dimple projected (surface) diameter was 50.8 mm with the dimple centers located at 88 mm and 264 mm downstream of the elliptical leading edge of the flat plate. Experimental program was established in the U.S. Air Force Academy water tunnel, both dimple configurations were tested across the range of freestre
