Abstract:
In current debates, Alexis Sorbas (1946) by Nikos Kazantzakis is considered a novel in which the writer seeks the solution to his life dilemmas through Nietzsche’s philosophy, Buddha, Homer and Bergson. However, considering the layers of allegorical message, we conclude that Alexis Sorbas is also connected to novel Parzival by Wolfram von Eschenbach. In doing so, the author assumes that the search of hero for spiritual maturity is important for comparison, and that the green stone in Alexis Sorbas functions as the Grail. In the final consideration is concluded that the entire novel Alexis Sorb

Abstract Purpose Sorption of organic compounds to soil largely determines their mobility and bioavailability in ecosystems. It is well known that molecular properties of the organic sorbates affect the sorbed amounts and sorption kinetics. But also changes in the hydration status of soils alter the physicochemical and sorptive properties of soil organic matter (SOM), which is the main sorbent for organic compounds in soils. This study elucidates the effects of varying SOM prehydration status on sorption of PAHs and PAH derivatives in peat soil. Materials and methods For sorption experiments, t

These frequently display a relict top surface, evidencing a change interval from basin infilling to erosion often via capture or overspill. Here, we describe the top surface from the Sorbas Basin, a key intramontane basin within the Betic Cordillera (SE Spain).
