Abstract:
The pollution problem known as acid rain has focused attention on the need to control all major sources of contributing emissions. The use of platinum metal catalysts to control automobile exhaust gases is now well developed but in fact over half the man-made nitrogen oxides exhausted into the atmosphere are emitted from sources other than vehicles, and include power station boilers, industrial boilers and stationary internal combustion engines. Several methods may be used to prevent these emissions, and platinum catalysts, either alone or in combination with one or more of the base metal cata

Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to examine the role that different external sources of knowledge play in product, process, market and organizational innovations in food SMEs. Design/methodology/approach – This study is based on a web-survey of 214 food European SMEs. Binary logistic regression models were utilized for data analysis. Findings – The findings support the recent studies that suggest that the introduction of different types of innovation is associated with different types of source of knowledge. They indicate that collaboration with customers matter for product innovations i

Multi-case-base reasoning (MCBR) extends case-based reasoning to draw on multiple case bases that may address somewhat different tasks. In MCBR, an agent selectively supplements its own case-base as needed, by dispatching problems to external case-bases and using cross-case-base adaptation to adjust their solutions for inter-case-base differences. MCBR has been advocated as a means to facilitate handling large case-bases when storage is limited, or to enable use of distributed case sources. However, this raises an important question: When storage is not an issue, and the cases from all externa

SummaryMaximum likelihood estimation methods with an individual animal model were used to analyse a bi-directional selection experiment, with control, for cannon bone length in Scottish Blackface sheep. A method is described for partitioning the likelihood to allow within- and between-line estimates of genetic variance. It is concluded that both sources of information made substantial contributions to the precision of the base population heritability estimate. The implications for different experimental designs and varying heritability are discussed.

The application of nanofluids in thermal systems has great prospects, since the addition of nanoparticles gives a significant increase in the coefficient of thermal conductivity. The nanofluids thermal conductivity depends on the thermal conductivity coefficient of the base liquid and the volume nanoparticles fraction. It is assumed that the heat transfer coefficients and thermal conductivity are in direct correlation. Computational studies show that the increase in the heat transfer coefficient on the coolant side by adding nanoparticles in the coolant volume concentration of up to 10% is up

ABSTRACT The ESA’s X-ray Multi-mirror Mission (XMM–Newton) created a new high-quality version of the XMM–Newton serendipitous source catalogue, 4XMM-DR9, which provides a wealth of information for observed sources. The 4XMM-DR9 catalogue is correlated with the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) DR12 photometric data base and the AllWISE data base; we then get X-ray sources with information from the X-ray, optical, and/or infrared bands and obtain the XMM–WISE, XMM–SDSS, and XMM–WISE–SDSS samples.
