Abstract:
The monograph summarizes new relevant materials and topics. The study of the sources (forms) of environmental and natural resource law, legislation on environmental assessment and environmental control (supervision), provisions of land and other codes as forms of law, mechanisms for regulating environmental management, as well as the evolution of sources of law in the field of agriculture.
The complex nature of environmental law is demonstrated, the constitutional, legislative, and political foundations of environmental development, the unified state environmental policy of the Russian Federation and a number of foreign states are outlined. The genesis and systematization of forms of atmospheric air protection, specially protected natural territories of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, legal regulation of waste management, international and national measures of adaptation to climate change are reflected.
The legislation on land reclamation, land management, subsoil use, forest management, water use, fishing and conservation of aquatic biological resources in the system of sources of environmental law is analyzed; the issues of intersectoral communication of environmental, urban planning, information, energy, civil legislation and law are considered.
Examples from the field of law enforcement are given. The idea of ecologization of sources (forms), institutions, categories, norms of branches of Russian law is being developed.
For lawyers — scientists and practitioners, teachers, postgraduates, masters, law students, and other specialists interested in the theory and practice of lawmaking and the application of environmental law.

Guliyev, Ahmad. Safavids in Venetian and European Sources. Fondazione Università Ca’ Foscari, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.30687/978-88-6969-592-6.

Full text
Abstract:
The emergence of the Safavid Empire in the early sixteenth century marked a significant change in the geopolitics of the Middle East. This momentous change coincided with the widening of Ottoman expansion eastward and the exploration by European powers, especially by Venice, of the possibilities of forming alliances against the Ottomans with the involvement of the Safavids. Thus, Ottoman threat and commercial interests contributed to the emergence and development of diplomatic, cultural, and trade relations between the Republic of Venice and the Safavid Empire, which lasted until the end of the seventeenth century. Drawing on the documents from the Venetian State Archives and other contemporary sources, this book focuses mainly on some aspects of Safavid diplomacy, including the language of the Safavid polity, the role of European subjects as interpreters for the shahs, material and visual characteristics of Safavid diplomatic letters to Venice, the attitude of the Safavids towards resident diplomacy, the reception of the European envoys in the Safavid court and Europeans’ perception of Safavid diplomatic practices, as well as the characteristics of the Safavid embassies to Venice. We have tried to explain the role of Turkish as a language of diplomacy and communication in Safavid-Venetian encounters. We have also attempted to explore briefly how the Venetians distinguished Safavid subjects according to their ethno-linguistic affiliations. Finally, we examine the Ottoman factor in Safavid-Venetian relations in order to establish to what extent, if any, the Ottomans had an impact on the overall character of Safavid-Venetian relations.

Abstract:
This chapter considers the many major and minor influences on Juvenal’s tenth satire – the poet’s own experiences; ancient rhetoric (including the exemplum, deliberative oratory, praeteritio and sententiae); philosophy (a combination of various schools of thought, especially Socratic thought (via Valerius Maximus); Democritus; Epicureanism; Stoicism, including Seneca and Persius Satire 2; Horace Odes 1.31. All of the above sources are adapted as well as adopted to produce something new and distinctly Juvenalian.

Abstract:
This introductory chapter elaborates on this study's premise and provides a brief overview of the use of unnamed sources in American journalism. It demonstrates how anonymity alters the underlying relationship among news sources, journalists, and audiences. In contrast to conventional attribution, the absence of a source's identity leads to unique risks and rewards that prove difficult to disentangle. Both arise from the bargain struck when a journalist grants anonymity: the identity of the source is withheld to obtain and distribute otherwise unattainable information. This loss of transparency exposes journalists who rely on unnamed sources to challenges over the accuracy of the information provided and the intentions of all those involved. What emerges is a set of extremes as unnamed sources contribute to journalism's greatest triumphs and its most shameful episodes.

Abstract:
In this chapter, the Greek sources are discussed in two parts: first, the epigraphic sources such as the lead tablets from Dodona and the inscriptions from Didyma and Claros, and second, the literary sources containing narratives on consultations of the oracles at Delphi, Didyma, and Claros. Although not a single original oracle report from Delphi, the most famous oracle site in the Greek world, has been preserved, the evidence of the Delphic oracle is examined through literary sources. Oracle collections from Athens and Sparta and their connection with chresmologues are also discussed.

Abstract:
This chapter looks at the alternative sources of financing for social protection in Europe. The main source is payroll taxation. Two issues are often raised: that of the regressivity of payroll taxation and that of enlarging a tax base that is increasingly restricted to salaried work. Given that shrinking base, European governments are searching for alternative sources of finance, mainly consumption tax and income tax. In most countries, payroll taxation is an integral part of the social insurance compact, which involves unions and management. To the extent that payroll taxes are perceived as contributions or premiums paid for an insurance service, they are expected to be better accepted than other taxes.

Abstract:
This chapter examines how Hitchcock and his writers transformed his chosen sources, revealing two tendencies which are important in understanding how the director and the three writers went about adapting their sources into films. The first tendency has to do with Hitchcock's attitude toward adaptation and the viability and literary stature of the works he chose; the second with the genres he characteristically drew from. Throughout his career, Hitchcock focused on source material—plays, novels, and short stories—that used to be called “suspense fiction” but today is usually classified by bookstores and reviewers as “crime novels,” sources tailor-made for his thrillers. This chapter thus analyzes the three novels on Hitchcock's filmic triptych is based: Robert Bloch's Psycho (1959), Daphne du Maurier's The Birds (1952), and Winston Graham's Marnie (1961).
