Abstract:
A regional marine reservoir correction (ΔR) of 33±24 14C yr for southern Brazil was obtained from 6 marine shell samples collected in the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná. This work also presents a ΔR estimation of 8±17 14C yr for the southern and southeastern Brazilian coast from the states of Rio de Janeiro to Santa Catarina, obtained by including 7 ages published in previous works. The high variability of R in modern and Holocene samples from the Brazilian coast is also discussed.

Shellmounds are archaeological sites found across the Brazilian coast and form an important record of the human occupation of this area during the Holocene. Abstract:
The present report is the northernmost capture of the piscicolid leech Stibarobdella moorei in the western South Atlantic Ocean. This is also the first time S. moorei is found associated to a batoid fish in the Brazilian coast, the eyespot skate Atlantoraja cyclophora. Stibarobdella moorei was found fixed in the dorsal side of a male eyespot skate, caught by bottom trawl around of the São Paulo coast, southeastern Brazil. A brief description of the morphology of the parasite and a discussion on the taxonomic status of the S. moorei are presented.

Two new species of Mitrella Risso, 1826 are described from the west Atlantic Ocean. Mitrella cabofrioensis sp. nov. is known only from the southeastern coast of Brazil. This species is diagnosed by its pattern of white flamules over a reddish brown background, and a domelike, paucispiral protoconch, with 2 whorls. Mitrella antares sp. nov. is know from the Bahamas, Cozumel island, and Brazilian coast. This species is diagnosed by its large, globose, multispiral protoconch, with 3 whorls, and by two strong denticles on the columella

Abstract Seismicity and stresses along the Brazilian continental margin show different patterns between the northeastern and southeastern regions. In the northeastern margin, earthquakes tend to occur onshore under a strike-slip regime with horizontal compression parallel to the northern coast line. In the southeastern margin, higher seismicity is observed offshore, in areas where the continental crust was highly extended during the South Atlantic rifting in the Mesozoic. Three new events in the southeast continental shelf are shown to have reverse-faulting mechanisms, from waveform modeling o

Metacercaria specimens of the genus Opechona (Trematoda: Digenea: Lepocreadiidae) are described parasitizing "coelenterates" (scyphomedusae and ctenophores) from Southeastern Brazil (São Paulo state). The worms are compared to other Opechona species occurring on the Brazilian coast, but no association has been made because only adult forms of these species have been described. Suppositions as to the possible transference of the parasites are made.

Abstract:
This paper reports on Luidia senegalensis being followed by Diplectrum formosum and D. radiale in shallow soft bottoms of southeastern Brazilian coast, and comments on this association between bottom-dwelling organisms and serranids. Following is likely due to the serranid's inquisitive behaviour, and both juvenile and adult sea basses acted as followers, feeding on disturbed or exposed prey due to sea star activities.
