Abstract:
The setting for this study was the J.A. Turner Professional Library which is the central corporate Professional Library for the Peel Board of Education which is the largest Public School Board in Canada. The library also provides library services for educators in graduate programs at Brock University, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, York University, and the Faculty of Education University of Toronto to support their professional development and continuing education needs. The focus for the study were the Peel and Brock consumer groups so as to allow for comparisons. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the services and resources of theJ.A. Turner Professional Library by ascertaining the views and opinions of two consumer groups of the Professional Library at the Peel Board of Education. The author initiated the evaluation for several reasons including: her belief that the library as a service component of the organization must ensure that it's objectives fit the organizational culture and as the Peel Board was committed to organizational renewal i.e., strategic planning so was the library. The sample consisted of library users drawn from two consumer groups of which there were 127 Peel and 50 Brock users, and 32 Peel and three Brock stakeholders. The data collection consisted of a self-reporting questionnaire and selected interviews. For the purpose of analysis the responses were divided into the following two groups Peel Board of Education and Brock users. The results indicate that there is a high level of support for the J.A. Turner Professional Library. The interviews provided future directions for the development of the J .A.Turner Professional Library. The study closes with a series of recommendations to enhance the operation of the J.A. Turner Professional Library within the organizational context of the Peel Board of Education.

Abstract:
Progressive importance, swelling investment, and mounting national and global competition necessitate evaluation of the service quality of higher education. Quantifiable indicators such as student teacher ratio, student number, women participation, establishing new departments, and increase in the number of universities are no longer enough unless the student’s stand point is considered. This research probed the service quality of higher education in a public university in southern Bangladesh utilizing modified SERVQUAL gap model. The t-test results suggest that there is a significant service gap in all the selected service dimensions such as learning, teaching, recognition, assessment system, internet and library facilities, campus life, and non-academic administration. The results also mirror that little more than half (54.1%) students are satisfied with the service quality of the selected university and almost similar proportion (52.1 %) of the students have future interest in studying in the same university. Regression analysis reveals that learning and recognition are two important determinants of client’s overall satisfaction with the service of selected university. Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) advocates that the university should take immediate step in improving internet and library facilities, campus life, and non-academic administration. Factor analysis output confirms that slight modification of the proposed seven set model into six set factors can be employed by the management as off-the-rack service quality measurement tool. Key words: service quality, higher education, SERVQUAL, Bangladesh.

Abstract:
Purpose – The purpose of this study is to develop and analyse the usage status, level of satisfaction and success model of a mobile library service system in Taiwan. The research results could serve as a reference for the development, evaluation and improvement of libraries’ mobile services. Design/methodology/approach – This study designed a mobile library service system and used the informational system success model to evaluate its use status and level of satisfaction and, thus, to develop a success model for a mobile library service system. Findings – Results showed that students’ level of satisfaction with the mobile library service system had a positive correlation with the usage status indicated that the system could help them to improve their work efficiency, such as by reducing time spent searching for books and cost of obtaining electronic resources. The students also expressed a willingness to continue using the mobile library service system. Practical implications – In general, the students thought that the mobile library service system could reduce the time needed to search for book-related information, but that the service quality should be improved. Therefore, this study suggests that the education and training of system service personnel should be enhanced and that easy-to-use functions be provided to promote the users’ level of satisfaction and willingness to use the system. Originality/value – This study developed a mobile library service system and invited students studying in the National University of Tainan, in southern Taiwan, to be the subjects in an experiment, with a goal to evaluate the success of a model mobile library. The findings showed that the overall explanatory power (R2) of this model was 55 per cent and, thus, that the findings of this work have practical significance.

Abstract:
AbstractTo prepare schools for the demands of the twenty-first century, teachers have been challenged to expand their use of digital technologies in their teaching. This study is a part of OpenDigi, which aimed to create teachers’ communities for enhancing digital pedagogy skills and the use of digital assessment tools. The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of digital pedagogy training on in-service teachers’ attitudes towards digital technologies. Self-report questionnaires were collected from 98 elementary and lower secondary school in-service teachers in southern Finland. A total of 22 in-service teachers completed both pre- and post-test. The results showed that the impact of the digital pedagogy training depended on teachers’ ICT confidence level. Teachers who had low confidence in ICT use showed an increased ICT confidence level after the programme, while teachers who already had high confidence in ICT use showed no significant changes in their confidence level. Moreover, the results indicated that the need for ICT support was lower after the training for the teachers in high confidence group, while there were no significant changes in the need for ICT support for the teachers in the low confidence group. These results suggested that the training could fulfil teachers’ needs for ICT support, particularly for the teachers in the high confidence group. The challenges teachers face in expanding the use of digital technologies in practice and their commitment to the digital culture are discussed.

Abstract:
Service quality is among the determinants that define customer satisfaction, and customer satisfaction can lead to continued customer loyalty. Understanding students' and parents' satisfaction with the student services can help the school identify their strengths and pinpoint the area that can be improved. In the Philippines, part of Catholic education is the high standard of school services. These services include the library, instructional services, information and orientation service, guidance and counseling, student organization/government and activities, student discipline, student publication, admission services, scholarship and financial assistance, food services, health services, and safety and security. Measuring the students' and parents' satisfaction level of satisfaction on school services may help maintain Catholic education's quality. Hence, the study intends to measure and compare the students' and parents' level of satisfaction with all the school services offered in Catholic schools in southern Antique for the school year 2019-2020.

Abstract:
PurposeThis paper aims to discuss the practical application of critical librarianship through a critical literacy framework using a Teaching and Learning Grant. The purpose of this project was to provide teacher candidates in The College of Education at Georgia Southern University-Armstrong Campus, with tools to understand and practice reading through the lens of critical literacy. The project also serves as an example of how an instruction librarian can work with students outside of the traditional one-shot instruction session.Design/methodology/approachStudents in the Fall 2016 section of EDUC 2120, Exploring Socio-Cultural Perspectives on Diversity in Educational Contexts were introduced to the concept of critical literacy and participated in a series of interactive faculty-facilitated small group discussions with the librarian and College of Education faculty. They concentrated on an analysis of Does My Head Look Big in This? by Randa Abdel-Fattah (2008).FindingsStudents provided positive feedback after the project. Many stated that they learned a great deal about the reading process in general and how to read from a critical literacy perspective. Students also stated that they began to think about looking more critically at information in general. Additionally, these pre-service educators now have more tools to use to help their future students become critical thinkers who can read their world for deeper meanings and understandings.Originality/valueThis project fills a need to help college students understand how to use critical literacy skills and become critical consumers of information. The initiative also fostered meaningful collaboration between a Reference and Instruction Librarian and colleagues in the College of Education while expanding on the one-shot instruction technique.

Abstract:
An early telemedicine project involving NASA, the Papago Tribe (now the Tohono O'odham Indian Nation), the Lockheed Missile and Space Company, the Indian Health Service and the Department of Health, Education and Welfare explored the possibilities of using technology to provide improved health care to a remote population in southern Arizona. The project, called STARPAHC (Space Technology Applied to Rural Papago Advanced Health Care), took place in the 1970s and demonstrated the feasibility of a consortium of public and private partners working together to provide medical care to remote populations via telecommunication. In 2001 the Arizona Health Sciences Library acquired important archival materials documenting the STARPAHC project and in collaboration with the Arizona Telemedicine Program established the Arizona Archive of Telemedicine. The material is likely to interest those studying early attempts to use technology to deliver health care at a distance, as well as those studying the sociological ramifications of technical and scientific projects among indigenous populations.
