In September, 1986 a botanical survey was undertaken of South West Africa/Namibia (SWAIN) and adjacent arid parts of the Republic of South Africa (RSA). Primary emphasis was placed on the arid and semiarid regions with under 250 mm mean annual rainfall, in which both the summer-and winter-rainfall areas were visited. Observations were made on wild plants with known or potential value as new fruit or nut, vegetable, medicinal, or forage and fodder crops. These data are used to construct a tectono-stratigraphic framework and determine the general distribution of economic mineralization. [Abbreviated abstract. Open document to view full version]

Abstract:
Limpets are keystone species on the intertidal communities because of their constant grazing, but their diversity and taxonomy are poorly assessed, particularly along the African shores. In this study specimens of the Patellidae family collected along the southwestern coast of Africa and from north Atlantic were barcoded for the mitochondrial gene cytochrome c oxidase subunit I (COI). Genetic data and literature surveys were used to generate distribution maps of the identified species, to understand the range of each species within these regions. Phylogenetic analyses based on available GenBan
