Abstract:
Aging is considered in the context of various abiotic stresses, such as water deficit, high temperature, salinity, cold, heavy metals, mechanical wounding, UV radiation, etc. It is well known that the extreme level of these factors can be reflected in sharply increased production of reactive oxygen species. Reactive oxygen species interact with cellular biomolecules, such as lipids, proteins and DNA and can play an important role in cell injury. At the same time, fungi are an appropriate model system in different research areas, including aging. Testing of ligninolytic fungi in space conditions is forthcoming. However, it is unknown how the conditions of microgravity would affect fungal cell aging and enzyme production. Determination of the long-term physiological responses and adaptation to the space environment is of great importance for fungal enzyme production as well.

Abstract:
The life support system of the International Space Station must include the provision of drinking water to the crew and the treatment and disposal of wastewater. The cost of water delivery to the ISS is very high, so it is necessary to improve the technological schemes of wastewater treatment in space in order to reuse water in a complete closed cycle. The studies were performed based on the analysis of Ukrainian and foreign scientific sources and reporting data on the specifics of water use at space stations and the treatment methods of the used waters (wastewaters). In addition to international experience, our own research was used to develop a technology for wastewater treatment in space. The authors of the article analyzed the operation of existing wastewater treatment facilities in space and made recommendations for their use at the ISS. The developed technology for the treatment of wastewater and drinking water in zero-gravity (space) is based on the use of various reactors. They can be made of various materials (metal, plastic, etc.); they do not contain non-standard equipment that requires factory manufacturing. Compactness, complete tightness and small dimensions of bio- and physicochemical reactors allow them to be installed within the ISS. The cleaning process is easy to manage and can be fully automated. Water problems are central to the whole world, including in space. The ISS should have a system for the wastewater treatment and their closed use, since the supply of new water to stations significantly increases the cost of space exploration. Quality water is the health and well-being of people in space. Since there is no gravity in space, centrifugal forces (centrifuges) must be used to separate suspended particles from water. A comprehensive review of the issues related to wastewater treatment in space, allows us to conclude that it is necessary to regenerate water at International space stations (ISS). Indeed, to ensure the life support of the astronauts, a colossal amount of water is required, and its delivery to the ISS from the Earth is expensive.

Abstract In this short note, we give a sufficient condition for almost smooth compact metric measure spaces to satisfy the Bakry-Émery condition BE(K, N). The sufficient condition is satisfied for the glued space of any two (not necessary same dimensional) closed pointed Riemannian manifolds at their base points. This tells us that the BE condition is strictly weaker than the RCD condition even in this setting, and that the local dimension is not constant even if the space satisfies the BE condition with the coincidence between the induced distance by the Cheeger energy and the original distance. In particular, the glued space gives a first example with a Ricci bound from below in the Bakry-Émery sense, whose local dimension is not constant. We also give a necessary and sufficient condition for such spaces to be RCD(K, N) spaces.

Public spaces are among the most important components of the contemporary city. They are supposed to be places of vibrant social life, where a broad set of activities and behaviours can be observed. However, the role of public spaces as well as their spatial features can differ in various societies. The built environment, as a human creation, is affected by many social factors and one of them is culture. Thus, cultural conditions can have an impact on how urban space is created, perceived, and used. Those differences are most clearly visible in distant cultures, but they may occur to a greater or lesser extent within a single culture circle. Public spaces, because of their accessibility, egalitarianism, and wide range of users are especially useful as an area of research on the relationship between space and culture. This paper presents differences between Glasgow (United Kingdom) and Poznań (Poland) in the perception and attitude towards urban public space concerning cultural conditions. The theoretical background of the relations between space and culture, and the contemporary views of public space are discussed. Afterwards, the results of the survey study conducted in both cities are presented. The research results are discussed in the context of cultural differences derived from the cultural models and show that cultural dimensions can be used to explain the activity of users of urban public spaces. They also indicate that the variety in behaviour patterns and approaches to public space can be observed within the European cultural circle.

A random measure is a probability measure on a measurable space that is itself a random element of another probability space. In other words, a random measure is a probability distribution on the space of all measures on a given measurable space. In this paper, we show that mild consistency conditions on a prospective family of fidis suffice to guarantee the existence of a random measure having those fidis. The existence of classical random measures is supported by the Hausdorff measure. Random measures are defined most often as mappings from an interval onto a probability space, although they can also be defined as functions over certain spaces or as generalized densities of measurable sets. The probability measure on the first set is called a condition for this family of families.

These research materials consider the main problems of barrier-free public spaces in modern conditions. The main conceptual directions of solving the problem of barriers at the domestic and international levels are analyzed. A thorough analysis of the existing state of public spaces at the elementary level was carried out. On the basis of the researched conceptual directions for solving the problem of barriers, the main principles of universal design and barrier-free design in the design of public spaces are defined: the use of public space on equal rights, the possibility of flexible use of public space, the simplicity and convenience of using public space, the possibility of receiving information without dependence on sensory capabilities of users of public space, the possibility of making mistakes, the lowest level of applied physical effort, as well as the presence of a public space of the required size.Thus, the design of the environment of public spaces and its elements should be carried out taking into account the needs of low-mobility population groups in order to create a space without barriers.Taking into account the principles of universal design and barrier-freeness when designing public spaces enables visitors to safely and comfortably use the environment of public spaces in modern conditions.

Four Imaginary units corresponding to each space-time dimension create an geometric-algebraic framework for acoustic computations. Multiplication of oriented, spatial imaginary units anti-commute; whereas the time unit commutes with every other imaginary unit. This gives space-time represented as a single biquaternion number. Elementary wave-functions appear as biquaternion valued functions that include non-dimensionalized pressure plus velocity in a single function. In particular, space-time Fourier terms contain propagating exponentials with directional, space-time imaginary units. The pressure-velocity Snell’s law for acoustic propagation into an attenuating half-space demonstrates interface conditions. Matching biquaternion pressure-velocity fields across the interface require a single, biquaternion interface condition, requiring biquaternion functions such as arctangent or logarithm. Consequently, biquaternion transmission and reflection coefficients allow for novel computation for attenuation related phase and amplitude modulation, or impedance, for example. This includes minimising astrological impacts on the crew and building self-sustaining systems that would be the key to a new era of ambitious missions. ALS and HLS will provide transportation for the missions from the Earth to destinations, with impacts on the crew during journey discussed. Ways of minimising effects are vital to missions in the long run. Process of activation and operating core modules is portrayed on blueprints. Details of development and current technological advances that could be utilised may offer potential on the system, new advancements by the time of liftoff is expected for taking pioneering space missions to a new level.

We first prove several basic inequalities for expectation operators and obtain several norm convergence conditions for martingales in weighted variable exponent Lebesgue spaces. The main purpose of this paper is to give a general regularity result for Cauchy–Riemann equations in complex Banach spaces with totally real boundary conditions. The usual elliptic Lp-regularity results hold true under one crucial assumption: The Banach space is isomorphic to a closed subspace of an Lp-space. (Equivalently, the totally real submanifold is modelled on a closed subspace of an Lp-space.) Secondly, we describe a class of examples of such totally real submanifolds, namely gauge invariant Lagrangian submanifolds in the space of connections over a Riemann surface. These pose natural boundary conditions for the anti-self-duality equation on 4-manifolds with a boundary space-time splitting, leading towards the definition of a Floer homology for 3-manifolds with boundary, which is the first step in a program by Salamon for the proof of the Atiyah–Floer conjecture. The principal part of such a boundary value problem is an example of a Banach space valued Cauchy–Riemann equation with totally real boundary condition.

The proportion of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) concealing themselves in simulated interstitial spaces was examined in the presence of surface ice, in turbid water, and in clear water. Tests were conducted in enclosures in a small Idaho stream with structures that provided five rectangular spaces varying in width and height, one circular space, and one triangular space. Space use was assessed each morning by trapping test fish inside the structures. Significantly more fish concealed themselves under clear water conditions than under either surface ice or turbid water conditions. Spaces narrower than the width of a test fish with extended pectoral fins and spaces taller than the height of a test fish with dorsal fin extended were used less than would be expected if space use was random. The frequency with which two or more fish occurred together in the same space was similar to that expected if fish occurred together at random. Fish rarely returned to the same space on consecutive nights.

Abstract Transition spaces connect between the interior space and the exterior environment and it acts as an intermediate or a third space. A well-designed transition space acts as a microclimate modifier for the interior spaces. The current study focuses on the role of transition spaces in creating a comfortable thermal environment in classrooms of an educational institute, located in a region with hot humid climate. The aim of the study is to investigate the impact of transition spaces upon the creation of indoor thermal comfort. For this study, the quantitative data was collected through field measurements in terms of air temperature on a typical summer day. Further, the field data was also collected from different orientations and various classrooms within the campus of the institution. Adaptive thermal comfort metrics was used to compare the performance on the built geometry. The spatial distribution of adaptive thermal comfort was simulated using IESVE software. Further, new scenarios were proposed and developed for the built geometry by altering the built parameters like aspect ratio and the depth of the transition space. The indoor thermal comfort performance of the proposed scenarios was compared with the existing conditions so as to establish a relationship between the built parameters and comfort conditions. A significant improvement was evident in the comfort level of indoor spaces, which suggest that the transition spaces optimize the indoor space comfort levels by reducing the indoor temperature by about 0.5°C to 2°C. Thus, the study proves that the changes in the aspect ratio and corridor width significantly impacts the indoor comfort. Key scientific and application questions concern the relationships between individual-level activities and their effects on broader human phenomena, such as transportation systems and cities. Continuing advances in geographic information science, location-aware technologies, and geosimulation methods offer great potential for observational and simulation studies of human activities at high levels of spatiotemporal resolution. The author contributes by developing rigorous statements of the necessary space–time conditions for human interaction by extending a measurement theory for time geography. The extended measurement theory identifies necessary conditions both for physical and for virtual interaction. The theory suggests elegant and tractable solutions that can be derived from data available from location-aware technologies or geosimulation methods. These conditions and their solutions could be used to infer the possibilities for human interaction from detailed space–time trajectories and prisms generated from observation or simulation studies.
