The combination of Space-Time (ST) coding and Continuous-Phase Modulation (CPM) produces a low power, energy efficient communication scheme suitable for wireless transmission. Space-time coding increases the reliability of transmission, and continuous-phase modulation (CPM) has the potential to provide considerable energy savings. CPM is a modulation technique that involves the transmission of a signal with continuous-phase and a constant envelope, where the continuous-phase property produces a very bandwidth efficient signal, and the constant-envelope property enables non linear (and thus ene

Space-time coded systems developed in the last ten years have been designed primarily using linear modulation. Non-linear continuous phase modulation has desirable constant envelope properties and considerable potential in space-time coded systems. The coding of the space-time encoder and the modulation is incorporated into a single trellis encoder. Abstract:
This dissertation examines multi-antenna transceiver design over flat-fading wireless channels. Bit Interleaved Coded Modulation (BICM) and MultiLevel Coded Modulation (MLCM) transmitter structures are considered, as well as the used of an optional spatial precoder under slow and quasi-static fading conditions. At the receiver, MultiStage Decoder (MSD) and Iterative Detection and Decoding (IDD) strategies are applied. Precoder, mapper and subcode designs are optimized for different receiver structures over the different antenna and fading scenarios. Under slow and quasi-static channel condi

碩士<br>元智大學<br>電機工程學系<br>91<br>The orthogonal block coding with space shift keying (SSK-OBC) is explored in this thesis. More than two antennas are employed to transmit and signal the information bits. The orthogonal block coding (OBC) reduces the correlation of fading factors on different channels and enhances the performance of space shift keying (SSK) modulation. Numerical examples are presented to examine the performance for the probability of decoding errors.

Abstract:
In this thesis, we study differential space-time modulation with multiple transmit and receive antennas over a frequency non-selective block fading channel in the absence of channel state information (CSI) at both the transmitter and the receiver. We focus on the analysis of the random coding exponent proposed by Gallager for such spacetime channels employing differential modulation with finite signal sets, and consider multiple symbol differential detection (MSDD) with an observation window size N. The underlying principle of MSDD is to utilize an increased observation window of N > 2 consecu
