Abstract:
The action of general relativity proposed by Capovilla, Jacobson and Dell is written in terms of SO(3) gauge fields and gives Ashtekar's constraints for Einstein gravity. However, it does not depend on the spacetime metric nor its signature explicitly. We discuss how the spacetime metric is introduced from algebraic relations of the constraints and the form of the Hamiltonian by focusing our attention on the signature factor. The system describes both Euclidean and Lorentzian metrics depending on reality assignments of the gauge connections. That is, Euclidean metrics arise from the real gauge

Abstract We propose a new axiom system for unitary quantum field theories on curved space-time backgrounds, by postulating that the partition function and the correlators extend analytically to a certain domain of complex-valued metrics. Ordinary Riemannian metrics are contained in the allowable domain, while Lorentzian metrics lie on its boundary.

Our focus is to investigate the Ricci solitons of the plane symmetric and static four-dimensional Lorentzian metrics. It is found that these metrics admit shrinking and concircular potential Ricci soliton vector fields with either 6- or 10-dimensional Lie algebra. Further, it is observed that the 4-dimensional Lorentzian static Ricci soliton manifolds are Einsteinian and hence the Ricci solitons are the trivial Ricci solitons.

A (connected) Riemannian manifold M is geodesically complete (i.e. each geodesic may be extended to a geodesic with domain ( −∞, + ∞)) iff, as a metric space under the induced Riemannian distance function, M is Cauchy complete ([12], p. 138). Furthermore, all compact Riemannian manifolds are complete. On the other hand, compact pseudo-Riemannian manifolds exist which are not geodesically complete. For example Fierz and Jost[8] have constructed incomplete metrics of the form 2dx dy + h dy2 on T2. Furthermore, Williams [16] has shown that geodesic completeness may fail to be stable for pseudo-Ri
