Abstract Diversity adds spice to life. Think about food. Personally, I grew up with a meat- and-potatoes diet typical of midwestern food back in the 1940s and 1950s. There is nothing wrong in that but it was a bit boring in its sameness. Contrast that with the way my wife and I dine now: the wonderful diversity of regional American cuisines coupled with the foods of China, Japan, Italy, France, Thailand, and Latin America among others, specifically including fusion of regional or national cuisines. The range of aromas, flavors, and textures is amazing. Our lives are better for the diversity.
