Abstract:
The textbook is devoted to the issues of understanding the laws in the evolution of human consciousness and the formation of a pyramid of human values. For this purpose, the study analyzes the periodization of spatial structures and attempts to reproduce the logic of the process of consciousness development. The place of man in the system of cosmic evolution, the understanding of the process of transition from passive and unconscious human participation in evolution to active and conscious are comprehended. Brief information about the principles of the formation of the structure of space and the organization of systems of populated places is presented. Meets the requirements of the federal state educational standards of higher education of the latest generation. It is intended for students of all forms of education of educational institutions of secondary vocational and higher education in the field of training "Architecture" , as well as for all those interested in the problems of territorial development.

Abstract:
The monograph examines the features of environmental norms, methods, legal relations, ensuring their understanding and accessibility, compensation for present and past environmental damage, and the formation of competitive principles of environmental law. The article analyzes the current legal problems of using natural resources - soils, subsurface resources, forests, water, wildlife, climate protection, taking into account public access to information about them, land management, combining civil and administrative methods of regulation, and the structure of environmental law. The subject of the research is the systems of environmental legislation in some European and Asian States, its implementation in the Arctic, Baikal, Crimean territories, in cities and other settlements in order to prevent and suppress environmental offenses. For scientists, teachers, postgraduates, undergraduates, students of higher legal institutions studying environmental, natural resource, land law, as well as for a wide range of readers interested in modern legal problems of nature protection.

Abstract:
Medieval archaeologists, possessing elements of the landscape and the buildings of the past, together with a good knowledge of the historical context, can recover many aspects of the way that space was perceived in the past. A phenomenological approach has been applied not only to castles, but also to the mundane world of peasants. Phenomenology emphasizes the experience of the world whereas archaeologists have been no less interested in the way in which that experience was manipulated and also in the competing ideas of space. Examples of encultured landscapes examined include natural places, gentry houses, village tofts, liminal places, and sites of pilgrimage. Drawing upon the evidence of place-names and documents, as well as the archaeological remains, it has been possible to reconstruct how people conceived of and experienced the world around them.

Full text
Abstract:
The Value of Science in Space Exploration provides a rigorous assessment of the value of scientific knowledge and understanding in the context of contemporary space exploration. It argues that traditional spaceflight rationales are deficient, and that the strongest defense of spaceflight comes from its potential to produce intrinsically and instrumentally valuable knowledge and understanding. It engages with contemporary epistemology to articulate an account of the intrinsic value of scientific knowledge and understanding. It also parleys with recent work in science policy and social philosophy of science to characterize the instrumental value of scientific research, identifying space research as an effective generator of new knowledge and understanding. These values found an ethical obligation to engage in scientific examination of the space environment. This obligation has important implications for major space policy discussions, including debates surrounding planetary protection policies, space resource exploitation, and human space settlement. Whereas planetary protection policies are currently employed to prevent biological contamination only of sites of interest in the search for extraterrestrial life, it contends that all sites of interest to space science ought to be protected. Meanwhile, space resource exploitation and human space settlement would result in extensive disruption or destruction of pristine space environments. The overall ethical value of these environments in the production of new knowledge and understanding is greater than their value as commercial or real commodities, and thus, exploitation and settlement of space should be avoided until the scientific community adequately understands these environments.

Abstract:
Major advances in the use of geographic information systems have been made in both anthropology and archaeology. Yet there are few published discussions of these new applications and their use in solving complex problems. This book explores these techniques, showing how they have been successfully deployed to pursue research previously considered too difficult--or impossible--to undertake. Among the projects described here are studies of land degradation in the Peruvian Amazon, settlement patterns in the Pacific northwest, ethnic distribution within the Los Angeles garment industry, and prehistoric sociopolitical development among the Anasazi. Following an introduction that discusses the theory of geographic information systems in relation to anthropological inquiry, the book is divided into sections demonstrating actual applications in cultural anthropology, archaeology, paleoanthropology, and physical anthropology. The work will be of much interest within all these communities.

Full text
Abstract:
Regulatory space has become one of the buzzwords of the debate on international investment protection law. Critics claim that investment law unduly constrains states’ regulatory space. Proponents contest that claim. This chapter analyzes state sensitivity to constraints on regulatory space from a comparative perspective, on the basis of quantitative analysis of textual coding of investor-state dispute settlement provisions in renegotiated bilateral investment treaties. The chapter is comprised of six sections. Section I is an introduction covering the impact of investor-state dispute settlement on state regulatory space. Section II discusses bilateral treaty-making and comparative international law research. Section III describes the comparative landscape of renegotiated BITs, and Section IV provides a comparative BIT content analysis and SRS. Section V sets forth a comparative empirical analysis of ISDS provisions. Section VI presents conclusions.

Gray, Hazel. The Forging and Unravelling of a Socialist Political Settlement. Oxford University Press, 2018. http://dx.doi.org/10.1093/oso/9780198714644.003.0004.

Full text
Abstract:
This chapter sets out the comparative evolution of the political settlement in Tanzania and Vietnam from the colonial period to the period of socialism and its ultimate demise. A description of the dominant political institutions and the evolution of the underlying distribution of power is traced through an historical exploration of the evolving structure of production and the important political struggles between contending groups in society. This chapter examines their comparative socialist experiences from the perspectives of the routes to power of the ruling parties, their success in consolidating power within the party, the creation of socialist economic institutions, and the attempts to redistribute economic power away from capitalists towards collective economic institutions. The crises of the 1970s and 1980s drove a significant change within the prevailing political settlement in both countries, that opened up the space for clientelism and informal processes of accumulation working within state institutions.
