We show that the line shape of resonant Raman spectra of CdTe can be reproduced using the spatial correlation model (SCM). Our results show that the resonant Raman spectrum for a surface with a RMS of 430 nm is characterized by the presence of two intense sharp peaks located at frequencies corresponding to LO and 2LOmodes. The resonant Raman spectrum for a surface with a RMS of 6 nm on the other hand, can be reproduced using the contribution of high frequency phonons related with the acoustic transverse harmonics. These results suggest that under resonance conditions, such acoustic transverse

We address the problem of stochastic simulation of soil particle-size curves (PSCs) in heterogeneous aquifer systems. Unlike traditional approaches that focus solely on a few selected features of PSCs (e.g., selected quantiles), our approach considers the entire particle-size curves and can optionally include conditioning on available data. We rely on our prior work to model PSCs as cumulative distribution functions and interpret their density functions as functional compositions. We thus approximate the latter through an expansion over an appropriate basis of functions. This enables us to (a)

Finn, Steven Ernest. "Interface circuit designs for extreme environments using SiGe BiCMOS technology." Thesis, Georgia Institute of Technology, 2008. http://hdl.handle.net/1853/22679.

Full text
Abstract:
SiGe BiCMOS technology has many advantageous properties that, when leveraged, enable circuit design for extreme environments. This work will focus on designs targeted for space system avioinics platforms under the NASA ETDP program. The program specifications include operation under temperatures ranging from -180 C to +125 C and with radiation tolerance up to total ionizing dose of 100 krad with built-in single-event latch-up tolerance. To the author's knowledge, this work presents the first design and measurement of a wide temperature range enabled, radiation tolerant as built, RS-485 wirelin

Qin, Bailan. "Sacred Heritage Making in Confucius’ Hometown: A Case of the Liangguan Site." Thesis, The University of Sydney, 2018. http://hdl.handle.net/2123/19706.

Abstract:
For over two thousand years, Qufu – the hometown of Confucius – has maintained numerous heritage sites where ancient Chinese elites revered Confucius and studied Confucianism. The sites, known as sacred places, have been exerting significant impact on Chinese culture and society. However, since the early 1930s, many of these sites in non-protected areas have been forgotten and even transformed in such a way that their original heritage meanings have dissipated. Following President Xi Jinping’s visit to Qufu on 26 November 2013, Qufu has been attracting unprecedented attention in both mass medi

Abstract:

Kotecha, Vinay. "Solitons on lattices and curved space-time." Thesis, Durham University, 2001. http://etheses.dur.ac.uk/3845/.

Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with solitons (solutions of certain nonlinear partial differential equations) in certain cases when the underlying space is either a lattice or curved. Chapter 2 of the thesis is concerned with the outcome of collisions between a kink (a 1-dimensional soliton) and an antikink for certain topological discrete (TD) systems. The systems considered are the TD sine-Gordon and the TD ø(^4) For the TD sine-Gordon system it is found that the kink can support an internal shape mode which plays an important role during the collisions. In particular, this mode can be excited duri
