Resumo: Este trabalho objetiva apresentar sumariamente a letteratura d’appendice (o folhetim) italiana de Carolina Invernizio, talvez sua maior representante, e seus desenvolvimentos posteriores. A metodologia é essencialmente a da pesquisa bibliográfica. Após definir a literatura de massa com base em Gramsci, Eco e Sodré, o texto analisa a recepção de Invernizio e seus epígonos no Brasil e na América espanhola de 1880 a 1935, apresentando um breve panorama das traduções publicadas nesses países e buscando identificar os meios de produção e fruição do gênero, e seu sucessivo desaparecimento, ou suas transformações. A conclusão inicial diz respeito à manutenção, ainda hoje, do recalque do gênero, considerado menor e não literário justamente por conta de suas características populares.Palavras-chave: Carolina Invernizio; folhetim; literatura de massa; Liala; tradução.Abstract: This work aims at presenting the Italian Carolina Invernizio’s way of letteratura d’appendice (otherwise known as feuilleton), of which she may have been its greatest example, and its later developments With a bibliographic research methodology, after defining mass literature according to Gramsci, Eco and Sodré, the text analyzes the reception of Invernizio and its literary descendants in Brazil and Spanish America from 1880 to 1935, presenting a brief overview of the translations published in these countries. We try to identify the means of production and use of the genre and its later disappearance, or its transformation. The initial conclusion concerns the maintenance, even today, of the repression and silencing of the genre, seen as minor and non-literary precisely because of its popular characteristics.Keywords: Carolina Invernizio; feuilleton; mass literature; Liala; translation.

The television's power to socializate teenagers is always reason for worry among educators and social scientists. Soap Opera is one of the highest exponents as transmitter of values, rules, attitudes and opinions. This article presents an empirical study about the spanish teen soap «Al salir de clase», which analyses its contents and adolescent's reception. Se trataría de una síntesis de la investigación titulada «Al salir de clase: lectura crítica y estudio de recepción», con la que la autora obtuvo el grado de doctora el año pasado y en cuya publicación está trabajando actualmente. El título de la tesis es muy fiel a la investigación realizada: un análisis del contenido y de la recepción (se ha trabajado con adolescentes de 14-16 años) del serial juvenil «Al salir de clase», producido por Boca-Boca y emitido primeramente por Telecinco durante cinco temporadas y posteriormente por diversas redes de televisiones locales, además de por un canal temático. Este trabajo nace de una profunda inquietud personal acerca de la potencial capacidad de socialización que posee la televisión entre los adolescentes. Antes de iniciarla, la autora había participado en numerosos foros de reflexión y debate sobre televisión y menores y en todos ellos había detectado entre los educadores un marcado pesimismo y un sentimiento de inferioridad bastante generalizado que subyace a una pregunta que me planteaban con mucha frecuencia: ¿Cómo podemos nosotros educadores competir en la transmisión de valores a nuestros chicos con un medio tan seductor como la televisión? Ese pesimismo y ese complejo de inferioridad, advertí que se presentaban de manera muy acusada entre quienes convivían o trabajaban con adolescentes. Daba la impresión de que pensaban que de niños recibimos una socialización de los valores que nos transmite la familia, la escuela, las iglesias, etc. y que es, al llegar a la pubertad, cuando su trabajo comienza a caer en saco roto ante los mensajes contrarios de los otros agentes de socialización como la pandilla de amigos y los medios de comunicación, en especial mencionaban la televisión. En estos foros, me di cuenta de que este convencimiento surgía a veces de algunas experiencias personales, pero sobre todo de un pensamiento profundamente arraigado en este colectivo. Sin embargo, en lo referente a la investigación, me resultó llamativo el vacío existente a la hora de indagar en los valores que transmite la televisión y en su papel como agente socializador. Por ello creí en la oportunidad de estudiar científicamente un tema que preocupa a muchos, que está en la calle, del que se habla y opina con mucha frecuencia, pero sobre el que faltaba conocimiento con rigor científico. El punto de partida fue preguntarme cómo se interpretan y asimilan los mensajes transmitidos por tv, en una edad en la que el individuo se halla en pleno proceso de maduración y socialización. A través de las aportaciones de distintos autores, entre los que destacan José Luis Sánchez Noriega, Francesco Casetti, Joan Ferrés y Sonia Livingstone, fui concretando esta inquietud inicial en un objeto de estudio y esta pregunta de investigación en una hipótesis de trabajo. Primero determiné que la tv realiza una función socializadora fundamentalmente mediante el entretenimiento, porque es el entretenimiento y en especial los espacios de ficción, lo que incita a muchos telespectadores y de modo particular a los adolescentes a mirar la tv, y porque además advertí que, también en este sentido, existía una escasez de estudios. Más tarde, elegí el serial televisivo, la llamada soap opera en el contexto anglosajón, «feuilleton» en el francófono y telenovela en el latinoamericano, como caso de estudio también por diversas razones resumibles en la constatación de que el serial televisivo es el género de ficción que más se adapta a las circunstancias reales del telespectador en sus dos dimensiones: la espacial y la temporal. Lógicamente esta adaptación espacio-temporal se logra en mayor medida cuando se trata de producciones internas que de productos extranjeros, por lo que elegí como objeto de estudio el serial «Al salir de clase». En la comunicación, presentaría a grandes rasgos, el desarrollo de esta investigación y los hallazgos o aportaciones que considero más importantes.

Para tanto, apoiamos nossa análise na investigação do hibridismo formal, que se configura por meio da exploração simultânea de gêneros, tais como a narrativa histórica, as memórias, o romance de formação, o romance picaresco e o romance-folhetim, cujo paradigma é ditado pela obra de Alexandre Dumas. Na análise da releitura do folhetim, servimo-nos das teorizações de Umberto Eco (1964 e 1978) sobre a literatura de massa, procurando demonstrar que as narrativas assumem formas recorrentes, nas quais detectamos homologias entre as estruturas narrativas, o enredo e as proposições ideólogicas do autor No exame dos procedimentos narrativos, analisamos, dentre outros aspectos, as características do personagem-narrador, o qual funciona como intérprete autorizado dos acontecimentos históricos ficcionalizados, na medida em que se configura também como porta-voz do sistema de valores preconizado nos romances. Assim sendo, demonstramos que a revisitação da história espanhola proposta pelos romances tende a enaltecer as dimensões heróicas da história imperial espanhola.<br>This research was carried out to analyze the six novels of the series El capitán Alatriste (1996- 2006), by the Spanish writer Arturo Pérez-Reverte, to prove the thesis that the rewriting of the Spanish 19th century organized by the series claims at spreading an “objective and true” knowledge of history, by means of a monological vision of historical facts turned into fiction, thus reaffirming the presuppositions of classical historical narrative. Therefore, our analysis is based on the investigation of the formal hybridism which is formed by means of the simultaneous exploitation of genres, such as the historical narrative, memoirs, the didactic novel, the picaresque novel and the serial novel whose paradigm is provided by Alexandre Dumas’ works. In the analysis of serial rewriting, we made use of Umberto Eco’s theorizations (1964 and 1978) about mass literature, trying to prove that narratives takes on recurrent forms, in which one may find out homologies between the narrative structures, the plot and the author’s ideological propositions. In the examination of the narrative procedures, among other features we analyzed the characteristics of the character-narrator, who acts as an authorized interpreter of the historical events turned into fiction, to the extent that he also takes the shape of a spokesman of value system confirmed in the novels. In that case, we proved that the revisiting of the Spanish history proposed in novels tends to exalt the heroic dimensions of the Spanish imperial history.

Das 19. Jahrhundert wird in den westlichen Ländern Zeuge tiefer Veränderungen auf dem Bereich des Buchdruckes, der dank der Fortentwicklung der Technik ihre handwerklichen Herstellungsverfahren in eine industrialisierte Produktion umwandelt. Es erlebt den Ausbruch und die Entfaltung des Pressewesens und die rasante Steigerung der Konsumentenzahl von Druckerzeugnissen. Diese Entwicklung, die als Revolution – die zweite Revolution des Buchdruckes – bezeichnet wird, resultiert aus den parallel laufenden soziokulturellen Veränderungen – wie die Demokratisierung der Bildung –, die sich schon im 18. Jahrhundert ihren Weg anbahnten und die sich kraft des Vorantreibens und der Verbreitung einer schriftlichen Kultur fortwährend entwickeln konnten. Die Etablierung liberalen Gedankengutes treiben auch in Spanien eine neue Konzeption des Individuums voran, das Bildung, Information, öffentliche Meinungsäußerung, die eine schriftliche, gedruckte Kommunikationsform implizieren, als seine elementaren Rechte betrachtet. Infolge dieses Hergangs wird der Leserkreis stetig größer und differenzierter; nicht nur neue gesellschaftliche Schichten erringen für sich den Zugang zur Schrift, sondern auch die geschlechtsspezifischen, aus der traditionellen, patriarchalischen, spanischen Mentalität resultierenden Defizite hinsichtlich der Bildung der Frau nehmen, ihren Eintritt in die Lesergemeinschaft ebnend, konstant ab. Die Wandlung der Frau zur Teilhaberin und sogar zur Mitgestalterin der schriftlichen Kultur in Spanien erfolgt abhängig von den historischen und politischen Gegebenheiten und nicht konstant und in gleichem Maße im ganzen Land. Der schwierige Weg zur Bildung, der Einfluss der katholischen Kirche, die sozialen Unterschiede, sind entscheidende Faktoren für die Geschwindigkeit, mit der sich diese Veränderung vollzieht. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist eine geschichtliche Veranschaulichung der Entstehung und Konsolidierung einer weiblichen Leserschaft und der begleitenden Umstände auf den Bereichen des Buch-, Bibliotheks-, und Bildungswesens.<br>In the course of the 19th century deep changes take place in the world of printing, mostly due to the improvements of the techniques and the industrialisation of the production. But this revolutionary development, known as the second revolution of the printing, results itself from the cultural, political and social transformations which happen contemporaneously. The advance of liberal ideologies with their new conception of the individual, who regards education, information and freedom of speech - which imply a written, a printed communication form - as his elementary rights, strengthens the spreading of a written culture, so that many countries experience a rapid increase of the number of consumers of printed products. These innovations will also reach Spain and deeply influence its society and culture. The alphabetised population increases, the number of readers becomes constantly larger and the readership more differentiated. New social groups achieve the right of education and become in this way potential readers, the women being the most important of them. The traditional, patriarchal, catholic Spanish mentality changes slowly allowing them to be alphabetised and educated. Women begin in the 19th century to take actively part on the cultural live of the country and not only as readers but also as authors. This transformation does not take place continually and in the same measure all along the country, due to the influence of the historical and political conditions. The difficult way to education, the power of the Catholic Church and the social differences become for instance crucial factors which define the rapidity and the significance of the development. This thesis presents the process of the emergence and consolidation of a female readership during the 19th century, illustrated with a description of the evolution on the ranges of the book production, of the library and education system and many examples of reading materials and publications for and of women.
