This paper analyzes naturalistic data from second-generation NYC bilinguals on their obligatory subjunctive use. First-generation NYC Spanish speakers serve as the reference model for the nine obligatory semantic & syntactic contexts. AbstractThis study examines the role of social class and gender in an ongoing change in Spanish spoken in New York City (NYC). The change, which has to do with increasing use of Spanish subject pronouns, is correlated with increased exposure to life in NYC and to English. Our investigation of six different national-origin groups shows a connection between affluence and change: the most affluent Latino groups undergo the most increase in pronoun use, while the least affluent undergo no change. In this randomized clinical trial, 34 edentate patients in the upper and/or the lower jaws were treated with the fixed hybrid dentures. In 16 patients (47.1% of the sample), the implants were loaded immediately (IL) by means of a provisional fixed rehabilitation made of PMMA (polymethylmethacrylate) screwed on Multi-Unit (MU) abutments connected after emp

The Lidia bovine breed is an important hallmark of the Spanish cattle industry. Bulls are selected based upon aggressiveness and epididymal sperm cryopreservation is the way to obtain and store their genetics. There are not specifically designed protocols yet to perform Lidia bull sperm cryopreservation. The present study aimed to determine if a tris-fructose-citrate-egg yolk (20% v/v; TFY) extender supplemented with 7% glycerol (TFY1) or 3.5% glycerol plus 3.5% dimethylformamide (DMF; TFY2) are suitable media for cryopreservation of epididymal Lidia bull sperm. Treatment may include excision, chemotherapy, or radiotherapy depending on the location and spread of lesions. Prior studies indicate that treatment at academic facilities, which offer higher treatment volume, and access to specialized care, clinical trials, and a greater number of ancillary services, is associated with improved survival in other skin cancers, such as melanoma. Adjuvant perioperative chemotherapy has been investigated for high-risk patients due to the poor overall survival (OS) for surgery. A meta-analysis revealed that adjuvant chemotherapy (AC) with doxorubicin plus ifosfamide (AI) significantly prolonged OS with an absolute risk reduction of 11%. However, the optimal timing for surgery and number of courses of chemotherapy are still controversial. It is therefore mainly intended to provide input for monitoring and near-real-time forecasts for a few hours.
