Indeed, they solve an lp-norm regularization problem, with p=m/(m-1) and m even integer, which happens to be close to a lasso problem. However, a major drawback of the method is that storing tensors requires a considerable amount of memory, ultimately limiting its applicability. Abstract:
History education is a contentious matter due to its civic and nation-building capabilities. As an explicit statement of intent, History curricula therefore have the power to shape the nation and its identity. Yet these curricula have within them spaces of negotiation and tension as they aim to develop students' historical knowledge and skills. However, the negotiation of these tensions is guided by various political priorities, which demonstrate attempts to create a cohesive grand narrative of Australian history to define the nation's identity. In the process of negotiating History curricula'

Abstract:
What is in common between the Kepler problem, a Hydrogen atom and a rotating black- hole? These systems are described by different physical theories, but much information about them can be obtained by separating an appropriate Hamilton-Jacobi equation. The separation of variables of the Hamilton-Jacobi equation is an old but still powerful tool for obtaining exact solutions. The goal of this thesis is to present the theory and application of a certain type of conformal Killing tensor (hereafter called concircular tensor) to the separation of variables problem. The application is to space

Abstract:
Student Number : 0413210T - MSc dissertation - School of Mathematics - Faculty of Science<br>The aim of this work is to do a literature study on spaces of martingales on Riesz spaces and Banach lattices, using [16, 19, 20, 17, 18, 2, 30] as a point of departure. Convergence of martingales in the classical theory of stochastic processes has many applications in mathematics and related areas. Operator theoretic approaches to the classical theory of stochastic processes and martingale theory in particular, can be found in, for example, [4, 5, 6, 7, 13, 15, 26, 27]. The classical theory o

Marti, Perez Laura Raquel. "The Fourier algebra of a locally trivial groupoid." Thesis, 2011. http://hdl.handle.net/10012/6441.

Abstract:
The goal of this thesis is to define and study the Fourier algebra A(G) of a locally compact groupoid G. If G is a locally compact group, its Fourier-Stieltjes algebra B(G) and its Fourier algebra A(G) were defined by Eymard in 1964. Since then, a rich theory has been developed. For the groupoid case, the algebras B(G) and A(G) have been studied by Ramsay and Walter (borelian case, 1997), Renault (measurable case, 1997) and Paterson (locally compact case, 2004). In this work, we present a new definition of A(G) in the locally compact case, specially well suited for studying locally trivial gro
