Abstract:
Physiotherapy research promotes optimum care for patients through evidence-based physiotherapy practice. Students' attitude towards research motivates them to engage in research, develop research skills and apply research findings in clinical settings to promote positive patients outcome. Aim: The aim of this study is to analyse the attitudes and anxiety of undergraduate Physiotherapy students towards research component. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey was carried out with purposively selected students (n=150) from one physiotherapy college (Third-year BPT, final year BPT and internee). With informed voluntary consent, data on students’ attitude and anxie-ty toward research were collected using Attitudes Toward Research (ATR) scale which was devised by Elena T. Papanastasiou in 2005. ATR consists of 32 items measured on a 7- point Likert scale. A value of 1 indicates a response of ‘strongly disagree’ and a value of 7 corresponds to ‘strongly agree’. Analyses were performed using SPSS version 20. Results: Most of the participants (80%) reported that research is useful for the career. Positive attitude towards research was demonstrated by 69.33% physiotherapy students and 63.33% reported that research plays an im-portant role in professional and personal life. However, a large proportion of students (72.67%) have anxiety towards research and 74% of students reported for research difficulty. Conclusion: Although many of the students have a fa-vourable attitude towards the research and acknowledge its usefulness and benefit to physiotherapy profession, many of them perceived their research course as stressful and have anxiety towards the research.

Abstract:
Introduction: Post Stroke Depression (PSD) is considered the most frequent and important neuropsychiatric consequence of stroke. Early assessments can help determine possible treatment options and gauge progress. The present study was conducted to estimate the prevalence of PSD and associated factors among stroke patients and to find out the correlation between duration of stroke and depression through HAM-D. Aims: -To measure PSD using HAM-D in stroke patients. -To find out correlation between duration of stroke with level of depression experienced by stroke patients through HAM-D Materials and Method: This is a cross-sectional observational study conducted across various OPDs and hospitals attached to SPB Physiotherapy College, Surat. Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (21-points) was used to assess the level of depression among a total of 50 patients. 32 males and 18 female patients of age group 40 to 75 years having acute, sub-acute or chronic stroke were included in the study. The study was conducted after obtaining a written and informed consent from the subjects. Results: Out of total 50 patients, 39 were depressed i.e., 78% of the total population had PSD. The findings also indicate that there is a strong negative correlation between the time duration since the stroke had occurred and the level of depression. Acute and sub-acute phase patients had HAM-D scores higher than chronic patients. Conclusion: The present study concludes that there is high prevalence of PSD in Stroke patients and 78% of the population included in the study was depressed. We concluded this by our study that PSD is a very imp aspect, and majority of stroke patient have high level of depression. That is why it is important to measure PSD so that we can develop some strategy to combat depression. Key words: Stroke, Post Stroke Depression (PSD), HAM-D

Abstract:
elf-administered questionnaires are a good way of conducting research and gathering information. With the advent of technology, the questionnaire can be more easily circulated and a lot more data can be collected with online surveys. However, a common limitation of the responses is that they may be incomplete, biased or not valid and meaningful. The present study was conducted to find the attitude of physiotherapy students when they fill out online research questionnaires. An observational study was conducted at SBB College of Physiotherapy. An online questionnaire was generated and validated by experts. It was sent to post-graduate students, interns, and final-year undergraduate students of various physiotherapy colleges to find the attitude toward responses to questionnaires using convenience and snowball sampling. 96.6% of participants had responded to a questionnaire before this study. 65.9% of participants had knowledge about the topic on which they were answering questions. 9.1% were not sure if they understood the questions prior to responding to a survey and 4.5% had not completely understood the questions which they had answered. 88.6% of the participants agreed that they completely read the questions before answering. 38.6% of participants search the internet or have searched on the internet prior to answering questionnaires. The study brings out the need to establish methods to improve the quality of responses obtained via an online questionnaire. Key words: Online questionnaires, data cleaning, careless responses

Abstract:
Background: All age groups are affected by the common condition known as oral submucous fibrosis. The disease has spread to be a modern-day epidemic due to the widespread usage of tobacco, gutka, and betel chewing. A variety of treatment modalities, with differing degrees of success, have been tried to lessen the effects of the condition, such as antioxidants, systemic and local steroids, and physiotherapy. Methods: From August 2023 to October 2023, the ENT Department at Radha Devi Jageshwari Memorial Medical College and Hospital in Turki, Muzaffarpur, Bihar, conducted this study to gather information regarding the effectiveness of intralesional steroid injection in instances of oral submucous fibrosis.  There were forty individuals in total who had oral submucous fibrosis at presentation. Results: The study revealed that the greatest age incidence for both sexes was between 26 and 35 years old. There may be regional variations in the absorption of gutka and areca nut, among other factors. In terms of sex incidence, this study revealed a 9: 1 male preponderance. This could be as a result of men using gutka and betel more frequently than women do. All of the patients in this study had fibrous bands, mucosal blanching, and trismus. The most important haematological finding in this series was anemia. Conclusion: An efficient way to manage it and get rid of the morbidity is to inject hyaluronidase with dexamethasone. It relieves symptoms as well.

Abstract:
Stroke is the rapid loss of brain functions due to disturbance in the blood supply to the brain. It is a major cause of long term disability. Stroke survivors show a variety of physical and psychosocial problems, which can affect their reintegration into the community. This study explored the association of community reintegration with motor function in form of functional independency and Post Stroke Depression (PSD) and anxiety. Sixty post stroke survivors (both acute & chronic stage) with mean age of 58.3 ± 7.8 years participated in this study, in which 36 were male and 24 were female taken from Neuro-rehabilitation OPD of SBB College of Physiotherapy, VS and SVP hospital campus. Functional Independency was assessed by Functional Independence Measure (FIM) Scale, PSD and Anxiety by the Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS), and Community Reintegration by the Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ). Data analysis was done. Results show that there is Strong Positive correlation between FIM and CIQ (r = 0.861, p < 0.05), Strong Negative correlation between FIM and DASS (r = - 0.849, p < 0.05) and Strong Negative correlation between DASS and CIQ (r = - 0.819, p< 0.05) in subjects with post stroke hemiparesis. This study concluded that the higher the Functional Independence, the higher community reintegration, and the lower the PSD and anxiety. Functional independence and depression are factors that influence community reintegration and should be assessed and adequately treated before stroke survivors’ return to the community. Abstract:
Introduction: Fatigue is a common and debilitating symptom experienced by many stroke survivors. Significant poststroke fatigue may predispose to other health complications such as fall, imbalance, decrease in strength, and functional independence. Aims: There is limited research on association of fatigue severity with balance, strength, and functional independence. Hence, it arises need of current research whether they are correlated or not and fill these gap for more accurate intervention program. Material and Methods: Ethic’s approval was taken. An cohort observational study was conducted on 34 poststroke survivors (acute [6], subacute [6], and chronic [22]) with mean age of 58.17 ± 9.8 years (Male:female = 28:6) from neurorehabilitation department of SBB college of physiotherapy. Subject aging between 40 and 75 years with ability to walk with/without walking aids with medium-to-low fall risk was selected. Subject with significant auditory, visual, or cognitive issues were excluded from the study. Functional independence measured (FIM) by FIM scale, fatigue with fatigue severity scale (FSS), balance by step test and strength was measured by five time sit-to-stand test. Data analyzed by SPSS version 20. Results: There is significant strong negative correlation between FSS and FIM (P = 0.01, r = −0.658), moderately negative correlation between FSS and step test (P = 0.071, r = −0.314) and significant moderately positive correlation between FSS and five time sit-to-stand (P = 0.006, r = 0.462). Conclusion: Fatigue can be a contributory factor for loss balance, strength, and functional independence. Early detection and treatment of fatigue can, therefore, help to reduce imbalance, functional dependence, and the risk of falling.

Abstract:
Abstract Aim: The aim of the study was to explore the care-seeking pathway of rural women living with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and attending a tertiary health-care facility in Odisha, India. Background: RA is the third leading chronic health condition and causes severe pain and immense psychosocial stress. The prevalence of RA is three to four times higher in women than in men. Furthermore, in India, women delay care seeking due to the prevailing sociocultural norms. Women report more severe symptoms and greater disability; however, there is a lack of information on their care-seeking pathways. Method: We conducted 113 in-depth interviews among RA patients those who visited specialists at the outpatients’ Department of Rheumatology, SCB Medical College Hospital, a tertiary care hospital in Cuttack, Odisha, India. The grounded theory approaches were used for data analysis. Findings: The key findings included physical pain and psychosocial stress in relation to RA, cultural issues in relation to RA, mapping of the health-care providers for RA, the first point of cares and changes in care-seeking pathways, the perceived challenge for seeking health-care, and coping strategies of patients and social supports. This study explored that the RA patients seek care from multiple providers – untrained, trained and specialist without any gatekeeping. However, the primary health centers were the first point of care for maximum patients due to accessibility and affordability. Furthermore, follow-up care is significant to prevent complication among RA patients; the primary health centers are the gateway for keeping RA patients. Hence, the availability of RA trained providers at primary health center including interprofessional care, such as physiotherapy providers, and proper referral system is essential to convalesce care-seeking pathways.
