Our model is based upon a close approximation of the optical Fabry-Perot filter in the receiver as a single-pole RC filter for the signals that are bandlimited to a frequency band approximately equal to one sixtieth of the Fabry-Perot filter's free spectral range. Our model can handle bit rates up to 2.5 Gb/s for a free spectral range of 3800 GHz and up to 5 Gb/s when the power penalty is 1 db or less.
