Abstract Many plants produce broadly active toxins to which specialist herbivores—typically insects—have evolved counter-adaptations, sometimes spawning co-evolutionary arms races. Many non-social bee species are likewise taxonomic host specialists, but the specialists’ pollen hosts frequently attract diverse floral generalists as well, even to flowers of plants that are otherwise chemically defended. In this study of foothills death-camas, Toxicoscordion paniculatum (Nutt.) Rydberg (formerly Zigadenus), we show that its pollen and nectar both contain zygacine, the steroidal alkaloid responsib

Specifically, that the highly sophisticated system of recruitment and large perennial colonies of honey bees quickly exhaust forage resources leading to the local extirpation of wild bees. However, different species of bees show different preferences for forage plants. We here summarize known forage plants for honey bees and wild bee species at national scale in Denmark. Abstract:
All members of the oral healthcare team have a part to play in patient management, and the team is comprised of the lead dentist (plus other colleagues in the dental practice), the dental nurse, hygienist, receptionist, laboratory technician, and possibly a dental therapist. In the UK, registered dental nurses can take further qualifications in teaching, oral health education, and radiography, and can specialize in other aspects of dentistry, including orthodontics, oral surgery, sedation, and special care. If the dentist wishes to have a second specialist opinion regarding a difficult diagnosis, formulating a care plan or even executing it, they may refer the patient to a specialist dentist working in another practice, or to a hospital-based consultant specialist in restorative dentistry. These specialists have undergone further postgraduate clinical and academic training and gained qualifications enabling them to be registered as specialists with the General Dental Council (GDC) in the UK in their specific trained fields (e.g. endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics), or have further specialist training in restorative dentistry. The lead dentist will act as a central hub in the coordinating wheel of patient management, possibly outsourcing different aspects of work to relevant specialist colleagues, as spokes of that wheel. This is the clinical environment in which patients are diagnosed and treated. This room has traditionally been known as the ‘dental surgery’, but a more appropriate modern description might be the ‘dental clinic’, as much of the more holistic care offered to patients within its four walls will be non-surgical in the first instance. The operator and nurse must work closely together. To be successful, each must build up an understanding of how the other works. The clinic consists of a dental operating chair with an attached or mobile bracket table carrying the rotary instruments and 3-1 air/water syringe (and possibly the light-cure unit and ultrasonic scaler), work surfaces (which should be as clutter-free as possible for good-quality infection control; see later), cupboards for storage, and two sinks, one for normal hand washing and another for decontaminating soiled instruments prior to sterilization. Often the surgery will also house an X-ray unit for taking intra-oral radiographs. Most clinics are designed to accommodate right-handed practitioners, in terms of the location of many of the instruments and controls.

Abstract:
The authors aim to design the Multi-agent system, in which the software agents interact with each other to diagnose a disease and decide the treatment plan(s). In this chapter, the authors present a novel approach of applying Probabilistic Neural Network (PNN) to classify the childhood disease and their respective medical specialist. Normally this classification is performed by the pediatricians. The system that has been presented here, imitates the behavior of a pediatrician while selecting super specialist doctor. This decision making mechanism will be embedded in an agent called Intelligent Pediatric Agent. To design the PNN, a database consisting of 104 records has been gathered. It includes 17 different sign symptoms and based on their values, one of the five super specialists is selected. A Back propagation Neural Network (BPNN) has also been designed to compare the results produced by the PNN and it is found that PNN is more promising.

This chapter explores the development of podiatric surgery as a state-registered allied health specialisation, and the negotiations with the state and the medical profession that shaped it. Few allied health professions have successfully achieved recognised specialisms. The medical profession particularly and the nursing profession to a lesser extent have both been successful in achieving internal divisions of labour through state-recognised specialisations. While many allied health professions recognise 'special interests' and endorse specialist areas of practice, few of these specialisms are formally recognised by the state or attract a higher level of professional recognition through higher roles and reimbursement. The two notable exceptions to this are the practice of psychology and podiatry.

Abstract:
This chapter outlines the key work of allied health professionals within the palliative care team. Palliative care has been very successful at taking ideas, values, and techniques from other disciplines in healthcare. Such borrowing of ideas has nearly always included considerable adaptation from the parent discipline. However, the notion of cross-boundary, interdisciplinary working is now highly developed in palliative care. Some disciplines such as medicine and nursing have become core parts of the specialist team, whereas others have been accessed on an as-required basis. Increasingly, individual allied health professions have seen the need to evolve the palliative care specialism within the generic discipline. Allied health professionals include occupational therapists, physiotherapists, nutritional experts, speech and language therapists, clinical psychologists, social workers, chaplains, pharmacists, and art and music therapists.

Full text
Abstract:
The article presents the results of research for the mathematical model for estimating the probability of risk of incompetent specialist graduation. The mechanisms and tools to determine the probability of risk of incompetent specialist graduation have been developed in the course of the research. The goal tree method has been used as a mechanism to determine the relationship between the structural components of the educational process and the educational program. Using this method, the structuring of 9 criteria by which the educational program quality is evaluated has been carried out. That is, its strengths and weaknesses have been identified. In turn, as a tool for estimating the probability of an educational process (educational program) risks and the graduation of an incompetent specialist, it has been proposed to use a regression mathematical model. To build a mathematical model, an active experiment, a qualimetric approach, a method of regression analysis, and 16 conditional educational programs that met the "Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area" (ESG) have been used. The construction of the model has been carried out according to a specially designed scheme, which included 5 stages. In the first stage, a group of experts was formed and their consistency was determined with the help of the "HEI Experts" software. In the second stage, six groups of indicators were identified, which further estimated the educational process (educational program) quality. For this purpose, the experts used the method of pairwise comparison to select 9 unit indicators, which further estimated the levels of compliance of 16 conditional educational programs. The estimation was conducted according to standardized quality indicators that are inherent in the real educational process (educational program). In the third stage, a robust plan of the experiment was constructed using the method of pseudo-random LP-τ numbers uniformly distributed in multidimensional space. According to the plan, a working matrix of the experiment was formed. Then, the group of experts formed in the first stage carried out the percentage estimation of the probability of risk of incompetent specialist graduation. In the fourth stage, a mathematical model was built using the PRIAM (planning, regression, and model analysis) software. This model allows us to assess nine factors that affect the probability of risk of incompetent specialist graduation. In the fifth stage, the statistical characteristics of the model were tested. According to the test results, it was proved that the model is informative, adequate, and stable, both in terms of structure and calculations. At the same stage, the marginal surfaces were constructed and the forces of influence of regressors (indicators) on the probability of risk of competent/incompetent specialist graduation were determined. According to the results of research, it has been proved that such indicators as compliance of the applicants (bachelors) level with the second Master's level and the level of considering labor market employers (stakeholders) requirements have the strongest impact on the competence of the future specialists. The proposed model allows us to estimate the factors influencing the efficiency (effectiveness) of the educational process and to determine the probability of the risk of competent/incompetent specialist graduation.

Abstract:
The BCR-ABL-negative myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) collectively represent a diverse assortment of clonal myeloid malignancies with variability in both genotypic and phenotypic presentation. MPN subtypes including essential thrombocythaemia (ET), polycythaemia vera (PV), myelofibrosis (MF), systemic mast cell disorders have been best studied in terms of symptom profiles and heterogeneously incur disease burdens that impact treatment options, overall quality of life, and survival. Recent treatment strategies have aimed to incorporate disease burden assessment into the selection of therapeutic interventions. Patient-reported outcome (PRO) tools have been developed to objectively assess the MPN disease burden in both clinical and trial formats. Their development supports recent FDA efforts to promote PROs in supporting labelling claims for novel targeted agents. This chapter discusses the spectrum of symptoms inherent to MPN disorders, available risk scoring tools and PRO options, and the emerging role of patient outcomes as trial endpoints.

This chapter explains the Supreme Court’s decisions to sit in panels of five, seven, or nine judges. The main findings are that the Supreme Court sits in larger panels in cases that involve the government; cases that involve human rights claims; and cases that are important, judged on the basis of the number of law reports that reported the decision that is being appealed. There is limited evidence to suggest that the Supreme Court sits in larger panels in cases where lower court judges have been divided. The key factors identified in this chapter thereforematch the Court’s own description of how it approaches panel size.

Abstract Due to the health emergency currently affecting the planet, it has been impossible for engineering specialists to carry out direct inspections of the land. During this time, it has been necessary to develop techniques and procedures that allow engineers to obtain information from the land remotely. Here, they are supported by the technology that allows them to record images remotely via drones and communicate so they can perform inspections by auxiliary field personnel, directed at a distance by specialists. To do this, a preliminary flight plan is defined, based on the experience and
