Abstract:
Research background: If globalization presents really a new and not reversible process that creates a more homogenous world, strategies of enterprises should appropriate to this phenomenon, too. European legislation has significantly contributed to the creation of the mutual market and increasing freedom of movement of services within the European Union. Its basic principle can be applied to the harmonization of basic requirements for services and the subsequent normalization – the creation of common European standards. This also applies to the area of non-profit organizations. These organizations are an important part of the public sector, which in the form of various activities, in particular the providing of various services, performs tasks related to addressing manifestations of market imbalances. In contrast to the “traditional” business sector (profit sector), the task of the non-profit sector is not to generate profit but to provide consumer tasks. Abstract:
Non-profit organizations carry out activities that the state either does not want to perform or does not take responsibilities for them due to financial reasons, and the private sector is not interested in them. Specific features of such kind organizations is the fact that their performance is mostly depended on the work of a man – a volunteer, so a human capital is their integral part. Volunteering is a multidimensional phenomenon. It is an important part of the society and its future development. The context of volunteering has changed in last years, because social trends as globalization, technological development, changes in demography, emergence of postmodern values, and changes in families and work change people´s attitudes toward volunteering. In order a volunteer could realize his own personality and belief in volunteering activities and simultaneously participate in meeting goals of an organization, it is essential that all elements of management (organizing, managing, control, evaluating) are carried out effectively and have a meaning. To achieve this point, it is needed to know reasons, why people do volunteering that does not have only motivational sense, but also strategic one. Identifying motifs is therefore broader than just meeting needs and their knowledge is an essential factor for the effective functioning of non-profit organizations regardless of fields of their operation.

Abstract:
Financial statements (balance sheet, profit and loss statement) intended for profit and non-profit organizations have large number of differences in terms of content of individual items and also with regard to their formal structure. This is due to the existence of different types of accounting entities for which there are created sets of accounting rules. Need for separate set of accounting rules results from their objectives, management rules, performed activities and certain specific of costs, revenues, assets and liabilities. The differences found on the basis of comparative analysis in this paper are evaluated and subsequently there are recommended changes of the statements so that they would be more useful for the purposes of economic analysis. The paper also identified problems that arise in connection with the evaluation of the efficiency of this type of organizations and subsequently there are recommended tools of financial analysis suitable for evaluation of non-profit organizations and the specifics of non-profit sector are pointed out. The paper presents also the proposal to change the Decree 504/2002 Coll. so as to avoid distortion of financial statement closing of non-profit organizations, and also with regard to their higher explanatory power.

Abstract:
The article is devoted to the analysis of professional and personnel risks in social work. From the end of the twentieth century in management theory personnel is the main resource of an organization and the determining factor of its success. Moreover, the issue of professional and personnel risks is becoming increasingly important in analyzing modern organizations. At the same time, social-oriented non-profit organizations engaged in social work do not pay much attention to analyzing and developing strategies to prevent professional and personnel risks compared to commercial organizations. Professional risks are risks that associated with a professional activity and that directly affect the personality; they are capable to change personal behavioral and emotional reactions to certain events. The professional risk of social work in the article refers to the risk of professional deformation, the risk of «burnout syndrome», the risk of «professional fatigue». Personnel risks are the negative consequences in functioning of an organization because of activity or inactivity of its personnel. For example, the most likely personnel risks in social work are the risks associated with the recruitment, selection and selection of personnel; personnel adaptation risks; motivation risks; risks of inefficient use of staff, etc. Consequently, to prevent professional and personnel risks in non-profit social-oriented organizations engaged in social work the article proposes the following: supporting for the employees initiative; exchanging of experience both inside and outside the organization; creating opportunities for career advancement and development; creating opportunities for changing activities; psychological training for employees; training activities to monitor and effectively allocate personal resources; corporate events and leisure activities. In practice, all these measures should be comprehensive and used at the individual, group and organizational levels, relate to professional and personal characteristics of employees of non-profit social-oriented organizations engaged in social work. Moreover, the head of a particular non-profit social-oriented organization engaged in social work must develop the unique strategy of professional and personnel risks management, taking into account its specific conditions.

Abstract:
Today we are dealing with unceasing changes that are not without influence on the functioning of the organization and its subsystems; and managers, who are specific moderators of all activities in the organization, in the face of the volatility of the environment, need to acquire new competences and roles, and realize relevant functions. It seems that the manager's role may be dependent on organizational characteristics such as the type of organization (for-profit, non-profit), the industry in which the organization operates and its size. These features can determine the roles and functions of the persons responsible for the management of organizations. Taking this into account, the aim of this article is to present the role of managers in Polish organizations, depending on their industry and size based on the results of empirical research. The study was conducted in 2015 among 289 organizations in Poland. One of their objectives was to identify a modern role of managers, depending on the selected organizational features based on interviews with people responsible for personnel policy in these organizations. Studies have shown that the role of the manager and basically just its scope is dependent on the size of the organization. On the other hand, no relationship between the role and the industry in which the organization operates has been observed.

Abstract:
Human resource with the adequate ability and skills is of decisive importance in all organizations, irrespective of the field of activity in which they operate. It is no different with the life of sports organizations. The human resource management of sports organizations is peculiar which is influenced by, on the one hand, the operating form of an organization, on the other hand, the nature of employment. Those well-known jobs can be also found in the sport organizations which are necessary to operate an organization and carry out the general tasks, at the same time, the amateur or professional athletes turn up as specific human resources. Aim of the study is to explore the specific characteristics of the human resource management of a particular organization, namely Debreceni Egyetem Atlétikai Club Sport Nonprofit Közhasznú Kft. (University of Debrecen Athletic Sport Non-profit Public Benefit Purpose Ltd., hereinafter: DEAC Ltd.), primarily focusing on the traditional HR functions. After reviewing the domestic and international specialized literatures, the practice of the examined sport organization will be described by means of case study, document analysis and managerial interview methods. Based on the results, it can be determined that there is no separate HR manager in case of the examined sport organization, due to its size, but the managing director carries out the tasks as an economic and HR manager in one person. From the aspect of organizational operation, the practice of HR functions is similar to the practice of other SME business organizations, at the same time, the management of athletics as human resources means its specific characteristic where the managements of labour supply, career and talent has other interpretation.

Abstract:
Purpose Organizational leaders understandably seek to match their workforce to the organization’s strategic focus. However, they may find their ability to do so thwarted by reluctance to retire, even by those financially able to do so, based on the stigma that retirement means “old” and “out to pasture.” The purpose of this paper is to learn what can be done to overcome that possible barrier to implementing a strategic direction. Design/methodology/approach The authors interviewed 12 human resources executives across the USA concerning the challenge of reducing the stigma associated with retirement. The qualitative study involved conversations that focused on “what does your organization do?” rather than testing a specific hypothesis. Findings Respondents talked about actions ranging from the image-related to the substantive, practiced in both for-profit and non-profit settings. Organizations can position retirement as a transition to something else, and therefore a career stage rather than its end. Practical implications Organizational leaders can communicate that retirement is not a career end but a stage of work-life that can pay off in increasing flexibility for employees as well as for the organization itself. Social implications While strategic flexibility benefits organizations, a societal benefit can be more satisfied retirees if they transition to education, volunteer leadership or entrepreneurship. Originality/value The value of this research lies in prompting those at the highest level in organizations, those who design strategy, to consider how its implementation can be improved by actions to affect the retirement perspectives of employees.

The instructor’s manual provides one possible solution based on the LP tools available in excel. Research methodology This case is based on real events at waypoint adventure and is derived from the authors’ experience consulting with this organization as they sought to improve pricing and scholarship management. Case overview/synopsis A young non-profit organization serving the disabled community in Boston sought growth but lacked clarity and consistency in their program pricing and scholarship structures. The case analysis centers on revising program prices to achieve specific cost and revenue requirements and determining a scholarship policy that will maximize participation in their outdoor adventure programing for the upcoming year. This case allows the exploration of optimization with an atypical objective, as the organization seeks to maximize participant engagement rather than profit. Complexity academic level The target audience includes upper-level undergraduate and MBA or early graduate-level students studying the optimization techniques of operations management, revenue and pricing management or marketing. The case would also be useful for discussing the challenges faced by non-profits and the non-traditional objectives that can arise for these organizations.

Abstract:
In a sense, the study of everyday life epitomizes the challenges and opportunities of ethnography. The papers in this Special Issue show how the close examination of the day-to-day lives of people in idiosyncratic settings can shed light on universal questions, complicate the elegant narratives we tell ourselves about what we know, enrich our theories, and expand our sphere of empathy. Although the study of everyday life can be traced back at least as far back as the turn of the 20th century, reaching its apogee after the middle of the century, especially in the writings of Erving Goffman and Harold Garfinkel, it remains as uncommon as its object is commonplace. That is because it is easy to overlook the importance of what is happening when ‘nothing’ is happening and difficult to uncover what is significant about ‘the dust of social activity’. We argue—and the papers that follow show—that the details of the day-to-day can not only be unexpectedly interesting in their specifics but also a source of general theoretical insights about communities, organizations, and teams: their continuity, change and contradictions. What the papers have in common (with each other and with Goffman’s work) is an attention to the work that people do every day to sustain their particular self-image in the face of ongoing, mundane challenges of various sorts to the ways they like to think of and present their world and their place within it. This work to maintain the edges of meaning hides in plain sight and occupies us constantly, whether we are part of a public organization, a religious organization, a profit-seeking organization, a profit-resisting organization, an organization-less organization, or we are students of organizations marking the unremarkable.

AbstractIn a world where there has long since been more at play than functionality and cost price, we need creative innovation more than ever before. Organizations are trying to find ways to embed more creativity, more innovative potential, and more entrepreneurship into the everyday running of their businesses. They are constantly in search of effective ways to make their organization's culture better equipped for change. The Belgian non-profit organization Arteconomy has developed a method for doing this, by bringing business people and artists together in a series of particularly unique projects. In this paper, you can read about the philosophy that give rise to Arteconomy and the pioneering work that preceded it. The paper describes two specific projects that provide a concrete illustration of the arteconomy approach in two Belgian textile firms: ‘The Dragon of Deerlijk’ at Promo Fashion and ‘The Walk’ at Concordia Textiles. This paper is particularly relevant to illustrate change as an organizational process and to demonstrate how organizations can stimulate employees' creative skills.

Learning outcomes The learning outcomes have been prepared in accordance with Bloom’s Taxonomy (Bloom et al., 1956). After completing the case, the students shall be able to do the following: • describe the challenges faced by the not-for-profit, non-governmental and voluntary organizations operating at a local level in a conflict-ridden zone (knowledge). • Explain the key features, roles and typologies associated with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) (comprehension), apply such typologies to specific organizations (application) and differentiate between social enterprises and NGOs (analysis). • Analyse various scaling-up techniques and infer the technique(s) used or can be potentially used by a particular organization (analysis). • Synthesize different elements of the organizational environment and reflect on the potential influence of these elements on an organization (synthesis). • Develop frameworks by applying institutional theory and motivations for volunteerism to map challenges of organizational legitimacy and volunteer turnover, respectively, as well as make recommendations to tackle these challenges (synthesis and evaluation) • Develop recommendations for the problems faced by not-for-profit voluntary NGOs (evaluation). Case overview/synopsis Balgran, a local not-for-profit non-governmental voluntary organization operating in the conflict-ridden state of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), India was established in the year 1975 to empower destitute, orphans, abandoned and socially handicapped children. Since its inception, Balgran has expanded its services at a rapid pace including Bal Bharti public school, health care centre, vocational training and a computer centre. Mr A.K. Khajuria, President of Balgran, was concerned about the high turnover of the voluntary staff, mistrust among the potential donors concerning fund management of NGOs and inadequate funding. Mr Khajuria after a few failed attempts at resolving these issues, called for a meeting of the members of the governing body in February 2019 to decide the future plan of action to resolve these issues. Through this case, the students can understand the challenges faced by local NGOs in general and unique challenges (mistrust among potential donors) faced by NGOs operating in conflict-ridden areas such as J&K. The students will be able to enhance their skills in brainstorming and making recommendations while framing possible solutions to the challenges faced by Balgran. The case seeks to enable the students to comprehend the features and typologies associated with NGOs; the role played by local NGOs in community development; differences between social enterprises and NGOs; scaling-up techniques and paths with special reference to local NGOs and the environmental factors that can potentially influence the operation of NGOs. Complexity academic level This case is suitable for undergraduate and graduate-level students learning social entrepreneurship, social work and management of alternate organizations such as NGOs. This case could be used to discuss concepts related to not-for-profit organizations operating in voluntary settings. Supplementary materials Teaching Notes are available for educators only. Abstract:
There is a steady trend in the wide range of literature on the study of institutions: the definition of theoretical judgments often does not coincide and is not combined with the definition of general connections and patterns, which leads to ignoring the principle of systematic analysis of socio-economic processes. Indirectly, this means the priority of the random (individual) over the whole and general. Meanwhile, the concept of an institution correlates with the specific content of a phenomenon or process and is supplemented by a generalized and systematic approach. The study of such an urgent problem of the market economy as institutional choice through non-profit organizations requires the extension of the analysis not only to governmental but also to non-governmental structures, which are an element of the whole. In this regard, the article provides a historical overview of the development of nonprofit organizations and charitable activities as a large-scale social phenomenon, which made it possible to draw attention to the possibility of using the experience of past years for the purposeful organization of non-state institutions of charity, including by improving social partnerships. Analysis of the current state of non-profit organizations in Ukraine, despite the growth in their number, shows a decrease in the volume of charitable activities. In recent years, the country has taken certain steps to improve charity. However, this is not enough. The institutional environment for philanthropy needs to be improved. The solution to this problem is possible with the active influence of the state on the management of non-commercial activities. Improving the tools of functioning, financing, as well as increasing attention to the development of statistics in this area of activity is considered relevant. In this regard, the purpose of the article is to identify pressing issues and ways to improve charitable organizations. The solution to this problem is possible with the active influence of the state on the management of non-profit activities. The development of the institutional framework of the nonprofit sector of the economy means the improvement of financial reporting, greater openness of charitable organizations, streamlining of their legal relations, liberalized taxation and strengthened control over the activities of non-profit organizations. The article pays special attention to the problem of accumulation and distribution of charitable funds. The potential of charitable organizations can be expanded by shifting the focus of their regulation away from predominantly corporate to regional administration, which increases the importance of the institution of partnership in the development of charity. The article uses historical and logical methods, which allowed to study the formation and development of non-profit organizations in the evolutionary aspect.

Abstract:
Performance of the National Treasury is of critical importance since it affects service delivery of other public entities. Low performance levels posted by the National Treasury has drawn a lot of attention from the citizens and corporate stakeholders especially with the ever increasing public debt, challenge in policy formulation and the challenge of adapting to information technology dynamics. Through Employee engagement, both public and private organisations attempt to improve organisational non-financial performance. Employee engagement includes practices such as job design, communication, leadership and rewards. Although many organizations have made efforts to enhance organizational performance, the measures of organizational performance they have adopted have not been appropriate especially for public and non-profit making organizations, for instance; relying on financial performance measures. The general objective of this study therefore was; to establish the effects of employee engagement and non- financial performance of National Treasury in Nairobi, Kenya. The findings of this study would be of great benefit to the National Treasury, Kenya and to all organization in the public. The study was guided by the following specific objectives; to assess the effects of job design, leadership, communication and rewards on organizational performance in the public sector in Kenya. This study was anchored on the Work Adjustment Theory, Stakeholder Theory, Social Exchange Theory and Vroom’s Expectancy Theory. This study adopted a descriptive research design. The target population was made up of 876 staff of the national treasury and using stratified sampling technique, a sample of 269 was included in the study. Primary data was collected using a questionnaire. Analysis of data was done using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. A positive and significant effect was established between job design, leadership, communication and rewards on performance. The study concludes that the job design specifies the contents and procedures of performing the task in the organization. Hence, it helps in designing organizational structure. Leadership is vital for both in building the strength and power of the organization and in helping to manage relationships and resources. When managers and senior staff are good communicators themselves, they can expect to bring out each individual’s best skills and increase performance and through reward systems the employee will feel more motivated to work harder by having a reward system in place the employee will feel more committed to their work and their productivity will increase. The study recommends that through reward systems the employee will feel more motivated to work harder by having a reward system in place the employee will feel more committed to their work and their productivity will increase. The organization should the organization should establish its leadership standards and define the areas where managers need to excel in terms of directing the work of others. The organizational management should create a job description that eliminates ambiguity by clarifying the responsibilities and expectations for each member of your organization. The management of the organization magnify employee recognition by publicizing employee accomplishments across multiple forums such as company newsletters, dashboards and in team meetings.

Abstract:
Most NPOs in Kenya have not fully embraced the use of strategic plans due to the difficulties involved in development implementing of strategic plans. There are many factors that hamper implementation of strategic planning an organisation including inadequate financial resources, human resources, technological competences and organisational culture. The aim of the study was to determine the influence of organizational resources on Strategy Implementationin Non-Profit Organizations with a key focus on The Kenya Medical Research Institute Wellcome Trust Research Programme based in Kilifi County, Kenya. The specific objectives of the study were to examine influence of financial resources on strategic plan implementation, influence of human resources, and influence of technological competences on strategic plan implementation. The study was guided two theories, Resource Based View theory and Learning organisation theory. The research employed a descriptive survey research design. The study’s population was the management staff at KWTRP who were 60 according to the KWTRP (2018). Since the population was small, a census was adopted. The primary data was collected by use of self-administered semi-structured questionnaire. Data analysis was done by use of descriptive statistics such as frequencies, percentages, mean scores and standard deviation with the aid of SPSS and presented through tables, charts, graphs, frequencies and percentages. The study established that human resources, financial resources and technology competence had a positive and significant influence on the implementation of strategy at KWTRP. The study concluded that an organization’s workers important assets as they consistently contribute to an organization’s efficient functioning. That proper allocation of financial resources allows managers to put together more productive and efficient workplace teams and enables them to assess their schedules and predict the availability of resources in real time effectively and that technology competence lies in its ability to streamline interaction both internally and externally. One of the essential benefits of software expertise is its potential by promoting strategic thinking and knowledge transfer to improve the competitive advantage of an organization in the marketplace. The study recommends that the organisation incorporate top-down and bottom-up plan development on human resources in order to gain input from the lower management tier and involve workers in formulating strategies in order to significantly increase their contribution to executing a strategy. The study advises that the leadership of the institute should provide enough financial resources to execute strategies effectively. For each assignment within the plan, periodic cost estimates are important so that the use of financial resources can be made as efficiently as possible. On technology competence, the study suggests that management should seek more support for technical ways of executing strategies by having clear and articulated career paths for their staff, leave room for improvement to ensure cohesion of efforts in support of the implementation of the strategy. Similar studies should be carried out in private and public organizations since this study only focussed on non-profit organizations.

To mitigate this negative effect, it is necessary to have a carefully designed marketing business strategy. The purpose of this article is to summarize the practice of using the main elements of the marketing complex, analyze the effective management of marketing activities of agricultural producers in Ukraine and determine the main directions for increasing its effectiveness by establishing marketing relations for the product supply. Given the large area of Ukraine and the complexity to obtain monographic data that are not subject to monitoring by the State Statistics Service, the study was conducted using agricultural enterprises of the typical agricultural district, namely Khrystynivka district of Cherkasy region (Ukraine) as an example. It is revealed that the use of marketing tools by agricultural enterprises is limited due to the specifics of commodity products and the managers’ focus on short-term business goals. The analysis of forming and realizing the marketing complex of the district enterprises using the monographic method has shown that enterprises systematically use only elements such as commodity policy and distribution policy, while relying exclusively on retrospective marketing data. Significant increase in the return on marketing costs in the short term can only be achieved if formal or informal associations of commodity producers are formed on a functional-territorial basis. This will create a scale effect and allow each member to reduce transaction costs and get an additional premium. It is proved that while conducting administrative-territorial reform in Ukraine, it is most appropriate to form such associations within the boundaries of the united territorial communities.

Abstract:
At the present stage of development, organizations play a leading role in society. Organizations are multifaceted and widely represented in various forms, such as enterprises, non-profit organizations, public authorities, associations of citizens or communities, international legal, economic, social institutions, police or security agencies, scientific societies, and so on. Most organizations today operate in a competitive environment that requires them to constantly develop and improve. The winner is the one who acts prudently and effectively. In this aspect, the strategic management of the organization’s development is critical to its existence in a competitive environment in the long run. The article substantiates the difference between the dynamics of organizational development of pre-trial investigation bodies from business organizations due to the lack of competition as the main determinant of such development. A comparative analysis of the definitions of strategy, strategic management and organizational development is presented in order to identify the specifics of strategic management of organizational development. Through a systematic analysis of regulations that define the main tasks of pre-trial investigation bodies, the strategic goals of such bodies are identified, which should be taken into account when developing their development strategy. On the basis of the presented material the author’s definition of the concept of strategic management of development of bodies of pre-judicial investigation is offered. Based on the analysis, the European Foundation for Quality Management and 7s McKinsey’s contemporary evaluation models identify the main trends in organizational development, which in the future should be taken into account by pre-trial investigation bodies when developing their own development strategies. Conclusions are made about the prospects of further research in this direction.

Abstract:
Introduction. Modern enterprises operate in conditions of political and economic instability. This requires enterpris-es to build an integrated system for ensuring economic security. In Ukraine, the issue of economic security is relevant. But not fully understood. Need to clarify issues related to improving cost management. This is a factor in improving the econom-ic security of the enterprise. The purpose of the study is the theoretical and practical justification of cost management. Results. One of the the main goal of the enterprise is maximum profit. A factor in the success of enterprises is to re-duce production costs. Business security is a prerequisite for stable sustainable development and effective operation of the enterprise. Economic security depends on many factors: the actions of competitors, unsuccessful state policies, changing market conditions, and crisis phenomena. Object of enterprise security: personnel (managers, structural divisions, share-holders and employees), financial, economic, material and intellectual capital of the enterprise; specifics of activity. The head of the enterprise makes a decision. The decisions concern the price of the product, the amount of expenses. Costs - a decrease in the volume of material assets, cash. Cost management involves functions: forecasting, planning, rationing, organization, calculation, motivation and stimulation, accounting, analysis, regulation and control of expenses. Conclusions. We consider the “Cost-Volume-Profit” (CVP- analysis) analysis to be successful. It allows you to iden-tify changes in costs. The dependence of changes in production volumes and incomes on sales is studied; expenses and net profit. It’s substantiated that cost and profit planning using CVP analysis has limitations. Marginal income (profit) – the difference between sales revenue and variable costs. The higher the marginal income level, the faster fixed costs are reim-bursed. The average marginal income is an “indicator” of the contribution of a unit of production to covering fixed costs. The purpose of break-even analysis (CVP-analysis) is to predict financial results. Break-even analysis of economic activity is an indicator of the brink of effective and inefficient management. The same is the condition for maximizing profits. The main thing is an effective defense mechanism of the enterprise. Provides economic security of the enterprise from the threat of bankruptcy. Keywords: economic security, cost management, profit, costs, cost-volume-profit analysis.

Abstract:
The relevance of the research subject is dictated by the poor quality of management at all the levels of the system of housing-and-communal services in Russia, insufficient study of the specifics of management of the industry, and also by the need of the development of ways of the increase in management efficiency for the purpose of providing its development according to the requirements of the green economy. The mechanism and structural model of management of housing-and-communal services were developed. It will allow increasing the management quality in the organizations of housing-and-communal services in the context of its sustainable development, structural dynamics, features of manifestation of interrelations of its elements, and also to resolve some contradictions. Such contradictions exist among the purposes of the state (development of the competition in the market of housing-and-communal services), purposes of commercial organization (making maximum profit), and purposes of population (receiving high-quality and cheap services). Moreover, the contradictions exist among the economical purposes, social interests and environmental priorities. The results of the research can be useful for the improvement of management in the housing-and-communal sphere according to the principles of green economy.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore how organizations can strategically frame their legitimate perspective on a specific issue in order to gain salience and public support in a social media context. Design/methodology/approach By means of framing theory and a critical perspective on strategic discourse in hypermodal spaces, the study examines in detail the discursive strategies and framing processes employed by a non-profit organization that faces local and global contestation of its corporate operations. Findings Through a critical discourse analysis of the organization’s 385 Facebook posts during two periods of time, the results not only show how the corporate perspective is strategically framed and legitimized, but also challenged and consequently adapted in this hypermodal issue sub-arena. In addition to legitimizing the organizational perspective by providing evidence-based facts and external expert views as reliable and neutral sources, and echoing supporters’ voices and actions as further endorsements, the organization also strategically manages the Facebook dialogue by delegitimizing counterarguments. Originality/value This study contributes to the corporate communication field by revealing how framing can be materialized in specific discursive strategies aimed to legitimize and delegitimize. It shows how such strategies are interrelated in hypermodal clusters in ways that sustain the organizational discourse, and can evolve across time and within the same actor’s strategy. Methodologically, this study expands the research toolkit by introducing hypermodality in exploring framing and strategic organizational discourse.

Purpose This paper aims to contribute to research on the broad theme of knowledge-sharing (KS) behaviours and the impact that different organizational tenure may have on them. In this relationship, the relevance of the leader in enhancing sharing dynamics among employees is highlighted. Design/methodology/approach This study focuses on KS attitudes among employees with different numbers of years spent in the same organization, seen through the theoretical lens of a social exchange perspective. Specifically, the role of the leader in building a social exchange with co-workers is investigated as a managerial lever able to favour KS among a more experienced workforce. This paper starts by considering the relationship between organizational tenure and employees’ KS attitude. Furthermore, the specific role played by the leader–member social exchange with regard to this relation is described. The study’s hypotheses are tested on data collected from employees (N = 150) working in a non-profit organization located in central Italy. Findings The results suggest that a negative relationship exists between employees’ organizational tenure and KS attitude. In addition, the critical role of a leader’s support is demonstrated in moderating the effect of different organizational tenures on the KS attitude. Research limitations/implications This paper has both theoretical and managerial implications. Originality/value This paper contributes to the research on the important role of leaders in enhancing KS behaviors among co-workers when the number of years in the same organizations is a variable of interest.

Abstract:
Kandula's (2001) study on HRD practices and facilitators was re-examined to assess whether these constructs really measured practices and facilitators claimed by the author. Using the intermediate results of HRD practices and facilitators in matrix form, an attempt was made to establish the explanatory power of HRD facilitators vis-à-vis practices, besides attempting to isolate such practices and facilitating variables that maximally discriminate profit orientation of the company The reanalysis revealed that practices and facilitators' dimensions largely suffered from being non-specific and the dimension scores of both the measures overlapped with each other to such an extent that there is little chance to differentiate them as independent domains of human resource development. It was demonstrated that due to using non-discriminative and psychometrically inadequate dimensions of practices and facilitators besides using a single response per organization, the main findings turned out to be less significant The relationship with profit making orientation of the company also showing primarily non-significant results could be attributed to above reasons. A relatively short but conceptually distinct list of HRD practices (what is seen as action outcomes) and the facilitators (concerns for producing desired practices) are developed for further research in this area.

Abstract:
The goal of this article is to explain the relationship between business efficiency and corporate philanthropy. Business efficiency and corporate philanthropy are influenced by different factors. These factors are economic, political, technological and ethical. Values of entrepreneur (management of the enterprise), ethical basis of all people in the enterprise are very important for business efficiency. Business efficiency is the complex category. The efficient enterprise is not only privately profitable, maximizing the private economic benefit of the entrepreneurs (shareholders), the efficient enterprise is useful for the region and the society as a whole. The social utility of the enterprise is helpful for the private business efficiency on the other side. The convergence of "interests" of businesses and non-profit organizations is the important trend today. The corporate philanthropy is developed. On the one hand, enterprises cannot pursue only economic interests, significance of the social context of their operation increased. On the other hand, non-profit organization representing social interest has to be efficient too. The cooperation between efficient organizations is possible. The opportunities of this cooperation are different. The corporate philanthropy has either a direct financial form (individual grant, corporate foundation) or the specific indirect form of corporate philanthropy (corporate volunteering). The results show that the business efficiency and corporate philanthropy are interrelated and influence each other.

Abstract:
Studies have shown that superior performers provide increased productivity, profit and revenue especially for service and business-driven organizations. Undeniably, good people are great for business; however, previous studies provide limited indication on how to identify superior performers from average performers. In this study, the Star-Chef Competency Profile Assessment test was developed to help organizations identify and differentiate superior performers. The instrument helps in identifying and articulating the distinguishing characteristics of people who perform exceptionally well compared to those that do not. The Star-Chef Competency Profile Assessment analyses a person’s fit with six pillars of competency that encompass important competencies required for culinary profession: technical (culinary-specific), non-technical (generic), self-concept, personal quality, physical state and motives. Further, the competency profiling technique utilized the Rasch Measurement Model in identifying the superior performers. Competency profiling assessment was conducted among culinary professionals in Malaysian hotels sector. This is a practical, unique approach in improving organizational talent management practices for employee training and development. Identifying and keeping the superior performers is important in enhancing work performance outcome which eventually will contribute to the organizational effectiveness. This information hones the organization ability to nail down the best employees that could be polished for higher level.

Abstract:
This article examines the management problem associated with creating conditions for the implementation of social activity of the population in municipalities of a large Russian region. The authors argue that an important role in the development of the non-profit sector — non-profit organizations, the social projects and programs of which involve the local population, including young volunteers — is played by municipal employees. Having different experience of work in the system of state and municipal administration, municipal employees with different experience can implement their functions in different ways, for example, by introducing the federal standard of state assistance to volunteering. The methodology is based on the sociological theory of volunteerism infrastructure. According to it, the authors consider the professional activities of officials, who are supposed to promote social initiatives of the population in the framework of a normatively defined course of public policy, as a factor of the institutional environment that determines the variability of social activity management within local territories. The purpose of this work is to analyze the institutional characteristics of managing the social activity of the population of the Sverdlovsk Region and to identify the features of the models of managing the social activity of youth, due to the specifics of the activities of municipalities, whose employees have different length of service and practical experience in municipal service. This article analyzes the data of an expert survey of municipal employees of the Sverdlovsk Region responsible for interaction with socially oriented non-profit organizations (SO NPOs), interaction with children, teens, and youth public associations, whose powers are to create conditions for the development of volunteer activity of the population in municipalities (2018; n = 95). The authors have used correlation, comparative and chronological analysis to formalize the results obtained. Based on the research data, three models of managing social participation of the population, including youth volunteering, are identified and described, which are implemented in various administrative districts of the region. The first model of management is inherent in territories where a generation of municipal employees, who began their careers no more than 12 years ago, are responsible for this direction. Based on the totality of the revealed characteristics, the model was identified as youth-centric. The second model of management is implemented in administrative districts, where a large proportion of officials responsible for the analyzed area have more than 12 years of municipal service; it is focused on maintaining hierarchical relations with regional bodies and is designated as an institutional model. The third management model is distinguished by the orientation of municipal employees to interact with local social institutions, especially socially oriented non-profit organizations and to maintain their activity through subsidies from the regional budget. The third model of governance is designated as a paternalistic model.

Purpose This paper aims to discuss the importance of reconsidering the business model in the organizations, to ensure success over time. The paper lies on the analysis and development of the strategies of ten “Società” Canottieri’ – multi-sports clubs in Northern Italy. Design/methodology/approach The strategies of these clubs have been studied via detailed interviews, as well as data and document analysis. Subsequently, two workshops with the management of the clubs were carried out, to collect evidence of the challenges to their sustainability and to identify possible strategies to overcome these challenges. Findings Drawing on Osterwalder’s Business Model Canvas framework and Demil et Lecocq’s approach to business model (a Penrosian approach about the on-going dimension of change as a permanent state of organization), the paper describes how recently emerging issues (external and internal changes) have challenged the traditional business model of these clubs. Finally, authors identify specific actions necessary to (re)create a new value proposition and to modify the sports clubs’ organization in the future, to assure sustainability and success. Originality/value Currently, business model analysis within contexts of (apparent) no economic value creation still remains a relatively unexplored field. The paper describes an effective methodology to implement the business model analysis into a group of independent non-profit organizations. To implement this analysis, the authors adopted the model of Business Model Canvas, but using a transformational and dynamic approach.

Abstract:
The beginning of the 21st century brought a change in the approach to public relations (PR). Both the literature and the practice saw a shift in focus from evaluating the efficiency of communication strategies to relationship management. On the other hand, the growing interest in the use of social media in the management of many types of organizations has prompted researchers to seek the theoretical causes of this trend. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to examine the scope of the Polish public benefit organizations’ (PBO) use of the social network Facebook in managing relationships with stakeholders. The PBO is a specific form of non-profit organization, which enjoys the special privilege of collecting tax-deductible donations of 1% of personal income tax (PIT). The research covered 876 entities, which were divided into four clusters depending on their size. A database of posts was created that the organizations published in the period selected for the research. Then, the impact of the Facebook content on user engagement was analyzed. For this purpose, various statistical methods were used, i.e. descriptive statistics, statistical tests and multiple regression analysis. The results indicate that, in spite of social media’s unquestionable advantages, public benefit organizations only take advantage of a small proportion of this potential. The role of the most popular service, Facebook, in increasing organizational revenue from 1% of PIT deductions seems secondary at best. Apart from that, the results showed that the rates of posting by different Polish public benefit organizations vary widely. Although some organizations were very active in this aspect, the Facebook pages of many organizations remained completely inactive throughout the analysis or showed only minimal activity. Larger organizations exhibited a much greater posting activity than their smaller counterparts.

Abstract:
The current development of territorial public self-government in Russia is characterized by a discrepancy between the rates of quantitative and qualitative transformations in this area. For example, an increase in the total number of territorial public self-government bodies is accompanied by a decrease in the share of these organizations registered as a legal entity. The author identifies two reasons for the current situation. One of them is that the leaders of territorial public self-government do not realize their contribution to the achievement of sustainable development goals of the municipality and region. And this happens due to the fact that local governments do not carry out the necessary work with territorial public self-government in this area. The second reason is that the development of the educational infrastructure in this area as well as the managerial training level of the leaders of territorial public self-government does not allow these organizations to use the existing potential for the development of their organizations effectively. The government authorities equate bodies of territorial public self-government with “ordinary” non-profit organizations and, when conducting trainings, do not take into account their peculiarities as subjects of territorial development. The development of the educational infrastructure in the area of territorial public self-government can contribute to a qualitative change in the situation. In the course of preparation and implementation measures for the development of the educational infrastructure, government authorities need to take into account the specifics of territorial public self-government in comparison with other non-profit organizations. Leaders of territorial public self-government solve the problems of their territory development, therefore, it is extremely important for them to prepare and improve their qualifications in the field of territory development management. On the example of the implemented project “People’s University of territorial public self-government” the author suggests possible directions of management training for territorial public self-government leaders.

Abstract:
When it comes to economic relations involving religious organizations, the property issue is Central to the construction of these relations, since to obtain the status of a legal entity, the subject must have a certain property base. Legal regime of property of religious organizations not only define requirements to the status of a property (i.e. object), but also determines the regulation of economic competence of the entity that owns this property. Among legal scholars, disputes about the ownership of religious organizations are taking place precisely because the Central place in the system of property rights is occupied by the right of ownership, which is fundamental among other property rights. All other rights (the right of economic management, the right of lifelong inherited ownership of land, etc.) are derived from it and have limited property rights. Economic relations as a subject of regulation consists of only two elements – organizational and property. Property issues related to the property of any religious organizations traditionally remain one of the most difficult for legal understanding, although they are crucial, since the implementation of the right to freedom of conscience presupposes the existence of a certain property base. The question of ownership of religious property is directly related to the natural right of every person to freedom of conscience, which has found its legislative expression both at the international legal level and in the norms of domestic legislation. The Russian legislator believes that religious organizations are such non-profit organizations as, for example, charitable organizations, which means that they can be studied without taking into account the specifics of internal organizational and organizational-property relations in isolation from the provisions of Canon law, and this leads to the emergence of many controversial issues that relate to the economic activities of religious organizations. The current legislation does not allow for a clear definition of what form of ownership the property of religious organizations belongs to, since the current legislation does not clearly define such a form of ownership as the property of parents. In our opinion, the property of religious organizations should be classified as a different form of ownership – as the property of religious organizations, and not as private or collective, since religious organizations have a specific, different from public organizations, the principle of organizational structure, the procedure for making decisions on property management, and so on.

Abstract:
Abstract Background and Purpose: In every organization, project management raises many different decision-making problems, a large proportion of which can be efficiently solved using specific decision-making support systems. Yet such kinds of problems are always a challenge since there is no time-efficient or computationally efficient algorithm to solve them as a result of their complexity. In this study, we consider the problem of optimal financial investment. In our solution, we take into account the following organizational resource and project characteristics: profits, costs and risks. Design/Methodology/Approach: The decision-making problem is reduced to a multi-criteria 0-1 knapsack problem. This implies that we need to find a non-dominated set of alternative solutions, which are a trade-off between maximizing incomes and minimizing risks. At the same time, alternatives must satisfy constraints. This leads to a constrained two-criterion optimization problem in the Boolean space. To cope with the peculiarities and high complexity of the problem, evolution-based algorithms with an island meta-heuristic are applied as an alternative to conventional techniques. Results: The problem in hand was reduced to a two-criterion unconstrained extreme problem and solved with different evolution-based multi-objective optimization heuristics. Next, we applied a proposed meta-heuristic combining the particular algorithms and causing their interaction in a cooperative and collaborative way. The obtained results showed that the island heuristic outperformed the original ones based on the values of a specific metric, thus showing the representativeness of Pareto front approximations. Having more representative approximations, decision-makers have more alternative project portfolios corresponding to different risk and profit estimations. Since these criteria are conflicting, when choosing an alternative with an estimated high profit, decision-makers follow a strategy with an estimated high risk and vice versa. Conclusion: In the present paper, the project portfolio decision-making problem was reduced to a 0-1 knapsack constrained multi-objective optimization problem. The algorithm investigation confirms that the use of the island meta-heuristic significantly improves the performance of genetic algorithms, thereby providing an efficient tool for Financial Responsibility Centres Management.

Abstract:
Absent a cure or effective disease modifying treatment for dementia, developing cost-effective models of care that address the needs of caregivers alongside the medical management of the disease is necessary to maximize quality of care, address safety issues, and enhance the patient/caregiver experience. MemoryCare, a community-based non-profit organization, has 15 years of experience delivering a medical and care management model for persons with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementia. Designed to supplement primary care services, the average annual cost-per-patient is US$1,279. Observational data on 967 patients and 3,251 caregivers served by the program in 2013 reveal high levels of satisfaction, increased dementia-specific knowledge, improved perceived ability to manage challenging behavioral aspects of dementia, and lengthened perceived time in the home setting. Data suggest lower hospitalization rates and related cost savings. These findings warrant a further study of broader integration of caregivers into clinical care models for persons with dementia.

Abstract:
This paper presents an integrated framework for capacity and operations planning in Spanish sheltered employment centers (SECs). Employment provides socio-economic opportunities for people with disability. Well functioning SECs that provide opportunities for people with and without disability to work alongside each other are an important component of Spain’s current labor market. To be economically sustainable, SECs need to satisfy their clients expectations in terms of price, flexibility and performance, whilst taking into account and strengthening the diverse skills and abilities of their workforce like specific learning and forgetting processes. The SEC studied herein, a non-for-profit organization whose mission is to create employment for people with disabilities its workforce is deployed directly on clients’ premises. Efficient management across this multi-site environment, whilst supporting the diverse employment needs of its staff, is of paramount importance. This paper contributes an integrated framework to support SEC capacity and operations planning, which prioritizes the explicit training needs of workers with disability at all levels (strategic, tactical, and operational) as a lever for achieving the organization’s goals.

AbstractAn emotion like shame is endowed with special motivational force. Drawing on Ralph Waldo Emerson’s concept of shame, I develop an account of moral motivation that lends new perspective to the contemporary climate crisis. Whereas religious ethicists often engage the problem of climate change by re-imagining the metaphors, symbols, and values of problematic cosmologies, I focus on some specific moral tactics generated by religious communities who use their traditions to confront climate destruction. In particular, Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries, a Christian non-profit organization that seeks to infuse a renewed commitment in church parishes to bioregions and watersheds, effectively employs shame in the context of its Christian practice and leadership. My analysis of Bartimaeus Cooperative Ministries demonstrates both the efficacy of shame to motivate environmentally responsible behavior as well as the advantage to religious ethics of considering contextual practices over abstract cosmologies.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to propose a performance measurement and management system (PMMS) for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) based on an analysis of the connections between the firm’s business practices and financial results as reported in the financial statements. Design/methodology/approach Secondary data on the business practices and financial statements of 108 Canadian manufacturing SMEs were taken from a private database. Items from financial statements were used to measure the firm’s performance in specific areas such as sales and current assets management, while net profit was used to measure the overall performance. Information about the level of adoption of more than 120 business practices by the sampled firms was also used. Step-wise regression was then performed for two consecutive years to identify the business practices that had significantly influenced the items in the financial statements. Findings The findings show that an understanding of the business practice/financial statement connection can be useful in managing SME performance. The regression analyses provide rich and interesting results. They indicate that some practices influence performance quickly, while others have a deferred effect. In addition, some practices have impacts that are significant in specific areas of the organization but insignificant in terms of overall performance, while others affect the firm’s overall performance but not the specific area they are intended to improve. Research limitations/implications The main limitation of the study is the non-probabilistic sample. However, the sampled SMEs vary widely in their characteristics, which should partially mitigate the negative impacts of a non-probabilistic sample. Practical implications The paper offers a useful and low-cost PMMS for SMEs, using information that is easily available to owner-managers. It shows that SME performance can be managed using a simple system built around the firm’s financial statements. Originality/value The study is one of the first to empirically test the connection between an extensive list of SME business practices and the financial results presented in the firms’ financial statements.

Abstract:
The article focuses on the application of process management models in industrial enterprises which best enhance their competitiveness and efficiency under the conditions of crisis development, increased risks, and uncertainty. The presented results of the study are based on the expert survey conducted among the heads and managers of Kuzbass machine-building enterprises on process-oriented management for the period 2015-2018. By interviewing 500 respondents – the participants of the conferences, seminars, round table discussions, and trainings held within the framework of various thematic exhibitions and fairs in Kemerovo and Novokuznetsk – the opinions of the managers and the leading experts representing 70% of the enterprises of this industry were analyzed and summarized to specify their perceptions about the organizations’ activities and identify the urgent management problems they face. The article raises the main problems of implementing process management in the companies identified and ranked by the authors in the questionnaire which are as follows: first, non-optimal organizational structure, the need to restructure it and adapt to the process model; second, insufficient staff skills and general knowledge of process management; third, lack of financial resources and high time consumption; fourth, unclaimed processes, weak linkages to performance and the need to reduce excessive vertical interactions in their implementation. The possibilities to improve management in machine-building enterprises are considered from the point of view of process management. Risk-forming factors have been identified and optimal methods of risk management have been justified to ensure the efficiency of business structures in the field of production, and mechanical engineering. Conclusions have been drawn on the possibility of applying such an approach in almost any organization under the conditions of standard management, as well as the need to create up-to-date methods of process management with the specifics of machine-building enterprises, to adapt modern software to the conditions of digital economy, and to improve the skills and retraining of the managers.

Abstract:
Background. Survival and further development is an acute problem for any modern Ukrainian repertory theater. According to the Law (which is only a framework, since it does not answer all the questions that arise), repertory theaters are non-profit organizations and exist for budget funds. The latter are steadily declining and depreciating in the conditions of market relations exist in modern Ukraine. The purpose of the article is to consider and propose methodological approaches to the development and implementation of innovations in the organization of cultural institutions in the field of cultural industries, theater, film and television. Presentation of the main material. The modern development of society is extraordinary – it is filled with changes and transformations caused by the influence of such phenomena as globalization, cheap labor, a large number of competitors. The spread of information and nanotechnology, computer networks is causing changes in the structure of organizations and cultural institutions, in particular, a reduction in their size, which, in turn, predetermines innovation as a result of a creative search for original, non-standard solutions to various problems. Globalization today is not only fierce competition. It also affects the human capital of enterprises, in particular, transforms the concept of a permanent place of work. Technogenic civilization and the rapid change of information technology make cultural institutions need to work extraordinary in such relevant areas as technology, personnel and organizational aspects of business. The most important qualities of the modern cultural space, concerning cultural and educational institutions, creative industries, are openness of thoughts and the possibility to avoid stereotypes. As a result of the development of market relations in Ukraine, cultural institutions have economic freedom, respectively, freedom in choosing directions and guidelines for development, as well as of markets for activities, determining directions for using and attracting own funds, creating a competitive policy, etc. In the same time, the following threats were identified that are relevant for any modern Ukrainian repertory theater, namely: 1) the growth of the budget deficit of the country and the region, which can suspend the budget maintenance of theaters; 2) an increase in inflation; 3) economic instability; 4) political instability; 5) the growth of tax rates; 6) a decrease in the solvency of the audience; 7) low demand from the audience for theatrical services; 8) significant variability in the needs of the audience; 9) a high level of competitiveness of other theaters and cultural institutions; 10) changes in public values; 11) low social consciousness of the population. Due to these conditions, the solution of the problem of survival and development requires the search for new strategic approaches to the organization of activities and management of these theaters, which seems quite relevant. The possibilities are contained in the Law itself, which allows theaters to earn money through various types of commercial activities. Strategically, the most promising is production, which is used by almost all foreign non-commercial theaters. The opportunities provided by “The Law on Public-Private Partnership”, 2010, in the fields of tourism, re-creation, culture and sports can be included in support of such activities. The effectiveness and profitability of cultural institutions depends on the quality of management, as well as monitoring the implementation and quality of services. The high potential of cultural institutions with an underestimation of activity and inefficient management leads to insufficient funding for the development of cultural institutions, a lack of working capital, and low material interest of workers. This situation makes it necessary to constantly increase the budget line for the maintenance of institutions. But to increase the budget revenues of cultural institutions, it is possible to use crisis management technologies. The development of crisis management methods by the management company (with an emphasis on theatrical activities) will be aimed at: protecting intellectual property and patenting by type of activity, developing and applying franchising schemes in theatrical activities; constant monitoring of the theater audience in order to identify trends in the development of culture and demand from the audience; collecting and summarizing the practice of successful European theater projects and managerial decisions to create a system of training the managerial staff of cultural institutions; collecting and analyzing information about the interaction of theaters with the external environment, tracking new trends and market contradictions; creating the basis for adjusting the regulatory framework; increasing the profitability of theaters; development of areas related to the core business; attraction and use of various types of financing (budget, grants, commercial, credit, investment funds); reduction of the budget load and the transition from current financing schemes to the financing of theater projects and programs; the creation of new financial instruments for the development of the theater, including depreciation and accumulation of income; the search for opportunities for the management company to implement external financial management and carry out financial planning, control over improving the effectiveness of theater management; creation of systems of motivation and interest of the creative team of theaters; creative audit of theatrical productions and repertoire policy, assessment of the positioning of theaters and theatrical productions. Summing up the above, we can reach the statements: 1) the rapid reduction of budget support for modern Ukrainian repertory theaters may end with a complete rejection of it; 2) under such conditions, it will be appropriate to study the experience of organizing the activities of foreign non-profit theaters that successfully survive in market conditions; 3) this becomes possible through the use of a rather specific activity called “producing”; 4) modern Ukrainian repertory theaters will have to master it; 5) for this purpose, it seems appropriate to create a "production center" in the theater, which can be started as a startup; 6) this creates a new creative and production system that becomes productive.

Abstract:
The paper substantiates that investment in capital construction and improvement of facilities is the foundation of investment and innovation development of the country. It is proved that properly regulated terminology and regulatory framework, proper organization and high-quality methodological support for accounting and taxation of investments in capital construction and improvement of facilities will ensure reliable registration of objects of non-current assets, effective management of investment funds and identify reserves for increasing the return on invested capital. A methodological approach to accounting and taxation of investments in capital construction and improvement at the stage of forming their initial cost under IFRS, depending on the construction methods, is proposed, and the specifics of operations with investment real estate are determined, which will make it possible to account for and tax such business operations more fully, with a proper degree of detail. A system of tax incentives has been developed and justified, and a list of development drivers for the state has been defined regarding the possibility of ensuring the activation of construction processes in the national economy.

Abstract:
The article presents the theoretical and methodological foundations of the development of forms of communicative influence of civil society on the public policy, provides the main methods and conditions of their use for gaining advantages in solving problems of public-management relations. A wide range of issues related to the peculiarities of public relations organization, taking into account domestic and foreign experience, is covered. The specifics of the use of marketing communications in communicating of public authorities with the public are shown. It is substantiated that in the institutional sense, the greatest interest is the classification, depending on the scope of distribution. The public, when communicating with government, through certain communication tools, is called the external form of communication. The external forms of the communicative influence of civil society on state policy help them convey to the state authorities the necessary information about their thoughts, needs, requests, etc. Of course, such information should be constantly updated and accurate. All non-governmental organizations should maintain friendly relations with state organizations and prevent any misinformation of the latter. At the same time, informatization of public administration contains both positive potential and difficulties and contradictions, neglection which, as practice shows, turns negative result. To date, they are insufficiently developed and require scientific comprehension and substantiation, in particular, the issue of organizational, regulatory and legal support for the implementation and implementation of modern marketing tools and management in public administration. Concerning the prospects for further research on the concept of "the form of communicative influence of civil society on state policy", they consist in streamlining its conceptual apparatus as the basis for improving its system, since incomplete and inaccurate information becomes, as a result, the cause of many problems in the system of reforming public administration .

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to analyze the factors that influence the level of satisfaction or festival attendees and how that influences their intention to return. The impact of other factors such as past attendance and distance traveled to the festival were also examined. Design/methodology/approach The data for this study were collected using an online survey from attendees at a LaughFest™, a comedy festival hosted as a fund and awareness raiser for a non-profit organization (NPO) in a medium-sized Midwestern city. The data related to reasons for level of satisfaction and intention to return were coded into dichotomous variables, and along with income, gender and distance traveled to the event were analyzed using logistic regression. Findings Of the factors that impacted satisfaction, performers, venue, and ticket prices were found to have the largest impact on intention to return, with negative experiences having a greater impact than positive. Previous attendance was also significant with regard to intention to return. Practical implications This information will allow this festival’s managers to target specific areas for improvement to increase the rate of repeat attendance. Originality/value This paper aims to contribute to the literature addressing specific factors influencing level of satisfaction and how those factors impact intention to return by examining them in a comedy festival that is also a fund and awareness raiser for a local NPO. Abstract:
Sustainability has evolved into one of the key topics for organizations and organizational researchers alike. To meet changing societal demands, organizations have to adapt their long-term strategies and incorporate environmental and social aspects into their product offerings and decision-making. However, at the same time companies must satisfy short-term profitability interests and demands from shareholders. An organization’s sustainability commitment, strategy, or view is impacted by several influential factors, e.g., by the top management commitment or stakeholder integration. These factors have largely been studied individually without linking them. As such, the following study aims at creating a holistic view and framework for organizational influences and on sustainability. The framework is validated by a comparison to industrial practice in interviews with sustainability managers from the chemical and automobile industry, which are both highly relevant in the context of sustainability. Interview results suggest that the identified influential factors attributed to the four framework layers organization, top management, project team and project are relevant for industrial representatives. The view on and impact of specific influential factors can vary between companies and industries. The study further gives insights into the actual status and future direction of the management of corporate sustainability (CS) in practice.

Abstract:
The desire to reach the level of European quality of life standards leads to an increase in the importance of the non-state pension system. Such a system is one of the alternative forms of development of social protection of the population, since it contributes both to the formation of additional pension protection and the ability to meet the investment needs of the real sector of the economy. That’s why the studies of the nature, specifics and principles of operation of non-state pension funds require updating in this aspect. The purpose of this work is a scientific and critical analysis of theoretical approaches to the interpretation of the essence of “non-state pension fund” (NSPF) concept, identifying the characteristics of funds as institutional investors. In the article the author used general scientific and special methods. They are: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison, analogy, generalization. The methodological basis of the research is the systematic approach and the dialectical method of scientific knowledge. In the article the author clarifies the distinctive features of non-profit organizations, the main characteristics of an institutional unit and an institutional investor. A discussion on the dualistic nature of non-state pension funds is presented, which is determined both by the goals and objectives of the activities of the NPF and investment management, taking into account the effectiveness of using the tools of the market economy mechanism. The author's interpretation of the economic content of non-state pension funds is proposed. Conclusions. We believe that the role of NSPF, which they are intended to play in the life of citizens from the standpoint of their personal finance, undeservedly remains out of sight in academic circles. So, we propose to consider the economic content of an NSPF as a special organizational and legal form of a financial institution, designed to create an individually significant level of pension provision for citizens due to the redistribution of their income part between capable and disabled life cycle phases through the accumulation of pension savings, preserving and increasing their real value and the further implementation of retirement benefits on an individual basis. Unlike other ones, such an interpretation reveals the importance of the NSPF in planning citizens’ personal finances during their life cycle in order to preserve their social status in case of disability.

Abstract:
One of the most important elements of the management system of an educational institution is the accounting of income and expenses for educational programs (OP) and the calculation of the cost of educational and other services. Modern educational institutions are tasked with improving the quality of educational services and increasing their effectiveness. To solve it, the boundaries of their financial and economic independence are expanded. Currently, universities are changing their form of ownership and can be non-profit societies. The change in the system of financing universities involves the development of new mechanisms for managing an educational institution. In these conditions, it becomes inevitable to create and master new accounting systems in educational institutions, which are aimed at ensuring the tasks of effective management of the university. First of all, this applies to the management accounting system. The cost of services rendered is the sum of the university's expenses in monetary form for the implementation of educational and other services. Expanding the financial independence of universities involves the formation of reliable information about the income and expenses of the university in order to manage them. The purpose of this study is to identify the problems of accounting for income and expenses in educational institutions. The implementation of the research goal is facilitated by the use of methods of comparative analysis, synthesis, and graphical method for visualizing the results obtained. The development of the system of management accounting of income and expenses in educational institutions is focused on the formation of an effective system of information and analytical support, which involves the development of methods for accounting of income and expenses, the organization of the system of internal control of income and expenses, determining the features of management reporting of income and expenses. A methodology for income accounting has been developed that reflects the specifics of the activities of educational institutions, combines the calculation of the main income indicators, their reflection on accounts and in the registers of management accounting, and allows you to form the actual indicators of income and expenses. The optimal method of management accounting of expenses is justified, within the framework of which the classification features of the grouping of expenses are proposed, the order of consolidated accounting and the formation of management accounting registers is determined. The method of accounting for expenses will allow you to specify the directions of expenses in the context of activities, sources of funding, structural divisions, individual programs and activities.

Abstract:
Most organizations require some level of emphasis on sustained performance to survive. This is particularly true of publically traded organizations or those concerned with profit-and-loss accountability. In short, performance needs to be managed. As a result, performance management (PM) is a key practice in business and is often one of the primary areas of responsibility for industrial and organizational (I-O) practitioners in organizational settings. It is also a key lever for change in organization development (OD) interventions (e.g., Church, Rotolo, Shull, & Tuller, 2014), particularly when linked to specific behaviors that are being introduced and/or reinforced for the future success of the organization. Unfortunately, as Pulakos, Mueller Hanson, Arad, and Moye (2015) have noted, leaders and employees in most organizations fundamentally dislike PM. In fact, this dislike is so intense that it has resulted in professional conferences, workshops, and popular business books focused on the simplification, replacement, or even demise of the field (e.g., Culbert, 2010; Effron & Ort, 2010). There is even a PM book for dummies (Lloyd, 2009).
