This study presents the energy storage potential of nitrate salts for specific applications in energy systems that use renewable resources. For this, the thermal, chemical, and morphological characterization of 11 samples of nitrate salts as phase change materials (PCM) was conducted. Specifically, sodium nitrate (NaNO3), sodium nitrite (NaNO2), and potassium nitrate (KNO3) were considered as base materials; and various binary and ternary mixtures were evaluated. For the evaluation of the materials, differential Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermo

AbstractThe reaction of Cu(II) nitrate with sodium 2-chlorobenzoate (NaL1) and (E)-1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)ethene (dpe) yields a new complex [Cu(L1)2(dpe)(H2O)] (1). When Zn(II) nitrate reacts with sodium 4-chlorobenzoate (NaL2) and 1,2-di(pyridin-4-yl)ethane (dpa), [Zn(L2)2(dpa)]·CH3OH (2) is obtained. Complexes 1 and 2 have been characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and elemental and thermogravimetric analyses. 1 shows a 3D CdS network structure with uninodal 4-connected (65.8) topology; complex 2 displays a chain structure.
