Abstract:

The problem in the management of blue swimming crab (BSC) fisheries is a decrease in stock that overlaps with an increase in fishing activities. This study aimed to analyze the ratio of spawning potential (SPR), reproductive potential, and reproductive productivity of BSCs taken from the Spermonde Islands. Spawning potential was analyzed using SPR, while reproductive potential analysis used the relative proportion of data between female, berried female and the average fecundity of each class size. The results showed that the BSC in Spermonde were growth overfishing and recruitment overfishing.

Spermonde Archipelago in South Sulawesi is among groupers sources in Indonesia for International Marine Live Trade. Abstract The offshore coral reefs of the Indonesian Archipelago exhibit a high degree of geomorphological complexity. Reef types present range from the classical Darwinian barrier reefs and atolls, to a variety of shelf reefs (e.g., patch and barrier) and oceanic platform reefs. The vast majority of these reefs are found in the central and eastern parts of the archipelago. With the exception of the Kepulauan Seribu patch reef complex (Sunda Shelf) and the reefs of the Spermonde Archipelago (i.e., Spermonde Barrier Reef), it appears that little is known about the offshore reefs of Indonesia.
