Abstract:
Aim of this work is the development of a methodology for reliable tribological investigations when applying a micro tribometer. Experiments were conducted in ball-on-plate configuration with linear reciprocating motion. Two different sphere materials were applied: Al99.9 aluminum alloy and 1.4301 austenitic stainless steel. A textured surface from 1.2379 hardened tool steel machined by micro milling exhibiting an areal arithmetic mean height of Sa = 295 nm was used as counterpart. The experiments comprised of the investigation of the coefficient of friction and the evolution of the facet area on the spheres in contact with the textured surface depending on the normal load applied and the number of reciprocating cycles. For the early stage of the experiments an ongoing increase of the area of the facet on the spheres was found; occurring friction was manly governed by abrasion of the sphere’s material and three-body deformation. This was considered as unstable state of the tribological investigation process, not producing meaningful results. For the later stage equilibrium facet areas on the spheres were found and an ongoing conduction of the tribological experiments did not provoke any increase of their sizes. Here, occurring friction was mainly governed by adhesion. The final facet area on a sphere was directly dependent on the sphere’s materials and the applied normal loads. For all subsequent investigations applying a micro tribometer, only spheres exhibiting an equilibrium facet area should be used to gain robust results of tribological investigations, required for the development of e.g. dry deep drawing processes.

Abstract:
Since mesoporous silica such as MCM-41 and SBA-15 was developed, the study of the properties of high-surface area materials was accelerated. Moreover, the mesoporous silica is used as a template to produce high-surface materials by nanocasting technology. The purpose of this paper is the synthesis of a high surface silicon carbide sphere by the nanocasting technology. In this study, KCC-1 silica sphere was used as a template, and polycarbosilane and poly (phenyl carbosilane) were selected for precursor of silicon carbide. Carbosilane polymer gives advantage of synthesis silicon carbide under low temperature, and hollow spheres were produced. In this study, the polycarbosilane was more effective for the synthesis of SiC hollow spheres by inversion of template structure showing a fibrous morphology on the sphere wall. And it was confirmed that the sphere was composed of nanosized SiC crystals, and has high surface area using TEM, XRD and BET analysis.

Abstract:
Read is the first word and divine order in the Holy Quran. My lovely physics does not answer many mysteries in the universe including black holes. The observed ordinary matter in the universe is only ~5 %. The remaining is 27% dark matter and approximately 68% dark energy of. This paper introduces a developed model and concept to black hole anatomy and entropy-surface area correlation. It considers the stationary black hole a one entity of 4 concentric spheres around the singularity. They are the event horizon, photon sphere at 1.5Rs, unstable light sphere at 2.6Rs and innermost stable particle sphere at 3Rs. An equation (Sayed Ts formula) was derived excluded heuristics of Professor S. Hawking. This formula is based on different proportional constant between entropy and black hole surface area; not ¼ as He conjectured. In spite of my respect and humanity sympathy with Prof. Hawking, his tombstone equation should be corrected. There is neither radiation escape from black holes nor any signal detected due to micro black holes evaporation. Finally, it can be stated that Hawking radiation is Nothing.

Abstract:
The fretting wear characteristics of spherical/spherical lateral contacts under different load conditions, contact angles, and the number of fretting cycles are studied. A spherical/spherical lateral fretting wear model is established in ABAQUS software. A UMESHMOTION subroutine for spherical/spherical contact models is written to simulate the fretting wear based on the energy model and the Fortran language. The results show that as the load increases, the contact width increases significantly and the wear depth decreases. It is also found that the rate of change of the wear depth gradually increases in the central portion of the contact area, and is relatively smooth in the contact edge portion. An increase in the magnitude of the moving load causes a small increase in the contact width and a significant increase in the wear depth. The rate of increase of the wear depth at the edge of the contact area gradually increases and the rate of increase of the wear depth at the center of the contact area changes linearly. As the contact angle increases, the contact form gradually changes to a positive contact. Meanwhile, the wear depth variation shifted from a “U” shape to a “W” shape, which caused the wear depth to decrease significantly at the contact center and eventually approach zero as the adhesive area appeared. In addition, with an increase in the number of fretting cycles, the wear depth was almost unchanged at the contact center portion but significantly increased at the edge portion.

Abstract:
With the increasing of scrap usage in steelmaking processes, the melting of scrap becomes a very important phenomenon that limits the productivity and tap-to-tap time. Ice-water systems have been widely used to study the melting of scrap and alloys. In this study, the melting rate of saturated KCl solution ice spheres in gas-water two-phase plume zone are studied as a function of height of location, gas flowrate, and melt temperature. The results show that the shape of the ice sphere gradually changes firstly from spherical to elliptical, and finally becomes an irregular state. 1) The decreasing of the distance between the ice sphere and the bottom plugs, 2) the increasing of the gas flowrate, 3) the slightly increasing of bath temperature will all benefits the melting rate of ice spheres.

Analysing « "myths" of "kingship" », conflict », judgement », cosmos "organisation" » and/or "kingdom" "foundation" » – meaning these « literary » texts with « mythological » themes, focused on the activities of deities belonging to the « Storm-god’s » typology in view of historiographical « "cosmos" "creation" » –, in the syro-mesopotamian, indo-european and ancient mediterranean cultural area, the present work questions the possible existence of a « mythological » – « mythopoieic » –, indo-mediterranean « cultural area ». The recognised proximity, both « structurally » and « narratively », of those particular types of « myths » raises, considering, on a « folkloric » and « genealogical » level, their potential « genetic » identity – whether it is « prehistoric » or « horizontal » –, or, on a « mythopoieic » and « analogical » level, their integration in a common interpretative perspective, the issue of their comparison. When each conveys a specific and « ideological » « model »/« system », as it appears, within the « "myths" of "kingship" », the paradigmatic expression of a particular « symbolic » system, their differences not only ask about their « epistemological » identity, but also beckon a precise contextualisation as well

Abstract:
In 2005, over 200,000 Americans underwent a hip arthroplasty, the replacement of a hip joint with an artificial prosthesis. Of these arthroplasties, metal-on-metal type implants represent an increasing usage percentage. Metal-on-metal implants are selected largely for their low volumetric wear rate, durability, and resistance to corrosion. In spite of these advantages, little is known concerning the long-term consequences of heavy metal alloy use in the body, although early research indicates potentially carcinogenic results. This thesis is a preliminary investigation into these long term effects and their root causes. An improved comprehension of the corrosion kinetics and the rate of ion production from the high surface energy wear debris released by implant articulation can assist in illustrating the relative clinical significance of exposure to these metallic bodies over time. This thesis primarily focuses on developing a test methodology for the detection and analysis of ion dissociation in simulated body fluids. In order to validate this test methodology, the ion dissociation rates and surface characteristics of several predetermined diameters of cobalt chromium alloy spherical particles were analyzed. The effect of changing particle diameter, and thus surface area to volume ratio, on ion dissociation rate was determined to be significant when not affected by localized agglomeration. Additionally, preferential corrosion of cobalt within individual grains was observed and correlated to elevated cobalt concentrations in the electrolyte. These results suggest that ion dissociation kinetics for true wear particles can be determined through the refinement and application of the methodology developed.

Abstract:
High surface area gold electrodes are very good substrates for biosensors, catalysis and drug delivery. Their performance is characterized by good sensitivity, low detection limit and high signal. As a result, extensive research is being carried out in this field using different approaches of fabrication to generate high surface area porous electrodes of different morphology, pore size and structure. The morphology of the electrodes can be changed based on whether the approach involves a template or not, types of metal deposition, method and time of dealloying etc. The deposition of metal can be carried out using various approaches such as electroless deposition, electrochemical deposition, combination of electroless and electrochemical deposition, pulsed laser deposition, laser deposition etc. These electrodes can then be used in electrochemical measurements and their performance compared with an unmodified flat gold electrode. We used a template based approach, combined with electrochemical deposition, to fabricate macroporous, macro-nanoporous and nanoporous gold electrodes. To generate nanopores, in case of macro-nanoporous and nanoporous gold electrodes, we used gold-silver alloy electrochemical deposition method, followed by chemical dealloying. The morphology of electrodes was later observed under HITACHI Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and their elemental composition studied using HITACHI Energy Dispersion Spectroscopy (EDS). The electrodes were used in electrochemical measurements and their voltammetric data was compared. These measurements involved the determination of surface area, faradaic current using redox molecules with fast and slow electron transfer and charging current in KCl. Surface adsorption of dopamine was studied and detection of dopamine in the presence of ascorbic acid was carried out.

Abstract:
During the late 19th century, pioneers of popular theater sought to escape the "Italian- style" stage to become closer to the spectators with the aim of democratizing theatrical entertainment. For this purpose, they used non-frontal stages, and thus radically altered a long tradition. The present thesis, which examines this phenomenon, recalls that these artists were in fact inspired by ancient popular practices and reintroduced antique and medieval forms, such as the Elizabethan open stage and the Theater in the Round, before considering the success of the latter in the modern theatrical imagination and its rapid demise. The example chosen is The Theater in the Round of Paris, created by André Villiers in1954 and managed by him until 1984. In order to understand both the attraction and decline of the contemporary Arena stage—which saw only minor developments and almost completely disappeared in the 1980s—reflection of the mythological dimensions of the circle, and the utopic ideology linked to the sphere, is imperative. Finally, this thesis proposes new ideas and elements for questioning why certain artists at the beginning of the 21st century still use some variants of this particular stage

Abstract: The inquiry leaves from the affirmation of Habernas (1997) of which, in democratic complex societies, the public sphere forms a communicative structure based on public microsphere or public arenas, in which the public opinions are consolidated and are taken to the public discussion, and which these democratic spaces of discussion, though they have not the power of administrative decision, can still contribute to the composition of a sufficiently representative public opinion able to influence, that without guarantees, the processes of political decision in so far as his messages go through the persistence of decision constitutionally consolidated and compel the political agents - when are taken into account that the public aphere, or the flow of information in existent her, is structured in a large extent by the vehicles of communication of mass governed by commercial interests. For so much, the dissertation uses the descriptive and dialect methods with the objective to expose the characteristics of the phenomenon of the communication radios and his atributions in democratic societies, showing common elements up to the structure of the concept of public arena, of way to show up that a communitarian radio can be considered a public arena. The dissertation does use of documentary and bibliographical inquiries, since the investigation will be supported by already published materials - like books, article of magazines and available in the Internet, like documents and reports of entities of the civil society and of the State. Finally, the dissertation suggests parameters for the analysis on the acting of the communication radios like public arenas, which are tied, especially, at the level of participation of the population in the discussion undertaken in the communication radio and the structure consolidated in the vehicle for this end
Mestre

Abstract:
The lagging behind of the Italian economy in the sphere of technologically advanced manufacture represents a significant factor in the debate on the risks of the country's decline. Nevertheless we know relatively little about the diffusion in Italy of companies specialising in information technology. The research presented in this book – the outcome of a national project – reveals how this sector is dominated by small businesses, concentrated in a number of urban areas (the cases studied are Pisa, Florence, Turin, Osimo and Castelfidardo). It emerges that the social networks linking the businessmen with University researchers are crucial to an understanding of the processes of innovation. But what is equally important is the capacity of the collective entities, both public and private, to provide the entire country with the services that are indispensable for the development of enterprise.

Full text
Abstract:
The exploration and use of outer space, which began in the mid-twentieth century, led to the formation of international space law, designed to regulate the relations of States in this relatively new sphere of human activity. The undulating nature of the development of this branch of international law, for objective reasons, has led to the complication of international legal regulation of space activities. The dynamics of scientific and technological progress and the development of technologies in the space sphere exacerbates competition between space powers and international organizations, creates new challenges for international cooperation in space exploration and requires innovative legal solutions. The doctrine of international law is faced with the task of generalizing new problems and processes and developing conceptual models for the further development of international space law. The dynamics of the conceptual perception of international space law is traced, new theoretical approaches to the concept of the international legal status of outer space and individual regimes and concepts of its use in modern conditions are proposed. Taking into account the trends in the institutionalization of international space activities and the impact of economic integration processes on international cooperation in space, primarily in the Euro-Asian region, the role of international organizations in the international legal regulation of space activities and the harmonization of national legislation is analyzed. In addition, certain aspects of future space exploration are considered as a legal forecast. For researchers, teachers, postgraduates and students, civil servants and practicing lawyers, as well as for anyone interested in the problems of modern international law.

Abstract:
AbstractSphere assays are widely used in vitro techniques to enrich and evaluate the stem-like cell behavior of both normal and cancer cells. Utilizing three-dimensional in vitro sphere culture conditions provide a better representation of tumor growth in vivo than the more common monolayer cultures. We describe how to perform primary and secondary sphere assays, used for the enrichment and self-renewability studies of melanoma/melanocyte stem-like cells. Spheres are generated by growing melanoma cells at low density in nonadherent conditions with stem cell media. We provide protocols for preparing inexpensive and versatile polyHEMA-coated plates, setting up primary and secondary sphere assays in almost any tissue culture format and quantification methods using standard inverted microscopy. Our protocol is easily adaptable to laboratories with basic cell culture capabilities, without the need for expensive fluidic instruments.

Abstract:
AbstractArgentina has a relatively small diaspora and short experience engaging with it. This study explains the evolution of the institutional framework by which Argentina’s authorities interact with nationals abroad since early 2000s, with a specific focus on social protection. It shows that Argentina’s policies for citizens abroad have not institutionalised yet as a distinct and vibrant sphere of action and most initiatives have waxed and waned over time. As a result, Argentina’s lukewarm approach to diaspora engagement is characterised by ambivalence, intermittent and selective engagement, and relatively little development in terms of responding to social protection needs of nationals abroad. In the last few years, though, there has been an attempt to simplify bureaucratic procedures and improve services via virtual means. In particular, this chapter presents a detailed account of the policies, programmes and services offered by Argentine authorities across five specific policy areas: unemployment, health care, pensions, family-related benefits, and economic hardship. It shows that the area of social security and pensions is the most developed and that Argentines residing in MERCOSUR member states have benefited from the enactment of social and economic rights by regional accords.

Abstract:
With the industrial revolution, the public/private distinction became even more acute. From the traditional point of view, those who make a living (men) by working outside the home in paid work are perceived as part of their participation in public life. Economically dependent people (women) were perceived as belonging to the private sphere. We see that the concept of private space is mentioned together with women. It is always criticized that the concepts of private sphere and motherhood limit women. The existing order is maintained by repeating these discourses in mass media such as cinema and television. In contemporary narrative cinema, however, this limitation of women is intended to be altered by addressing it with a different language or by going beyond conventional stereotypes. In this context, Mother! the film will be examined in the context of feminist film criticism through the representation of space.

Abstract:
The creep of a polymer sphere contacting a rigid flat under a constant normal load is investigated experimentally. An optical technique is used to observe in situ the evolution of the contact area while the increase of contact interference is measured simultaneously. The experimental results obtained with PTFE spheres of different diameters pressed against a sapphire flat under different normal loads are presented and the effect of sphere diameter and normal load on the creep of the contact parameters is discussed. The present experimental study validate recently published theoretical results of a contact model for a creeping sphere and a rigid flat showing that a universal similarity solution exists for the dimensionless creep interference and dimensionless creep contact area as functions of the dimensionless time.

Abstract:
The National Research Foundation (NRF) requested the Academy of Science of South Africa (ASSAf), on behalf of South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO) and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA), to undertake an independent and objective evaluation of potential alternative telecommunication technologies for the areas of the Karoo Central Astronomy Advantage Areas (KCAAA). The study encompasses regulatory, public sphere, and technical dimensions to explore options for maintaining the functionality of the telescope while, at the same time, delivering appropriate connectivity solutions for local communities. The objectives of this study are as follows: 1) Assess the technologies currently being, or planning to be, deployed through existing alternative communications programs managed by SARAO, including whether these technologies are comparable with market available technologies that could feasibly be deployed in the KCAAA; and 2) Assessment of current and future telecommunication technologies that may act as suitable replacement and/or improvement (functional and feasible) for existing detrimental technologies, utilised in the KCAAA. This report provides a critical background into the relationship between the SKA and local communities as it relates to ICTs in the area. Based on this understanding, potential technology solutions are proposed to ensure residents of the KCAAA are still afforded valuable access to information and communication technologies (ICTs) within the parameters of affordability, desirability and feasibility.

Yatsymirska, Mariya. KEY IMPRESSIONS OF 2020 IN JOURNALISTIC TEXTS. Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.50.11107.

Full text
Abstract:
The article explores the key vocabulary of 2020 in the network space of Ukraine. Texts of journalistic, official-business style, analytical publications of well-known journalists on current topics are analyzed. Extralinguistic factors of new word formation, their adaptation to the sphere of special and socio-political vocabulary of the Ukrainian language are determined. Examples show modern impressions in the media, their stylistic use and impact on public opinion in a pandemic. New meanings of foreign expressions, media terminology, peculiarities of translation of neologisms from English into Ukrainian have been clarified. According to the materials of the online media, a «dictionary of the coronavirus era» is provided. The journalistic text functions in the media on the basis of logical judgments, credible arguments, impressive language. Its purpose is to show the socio-political problem, to sharpen its significance for society and to propose solutions through convincing considerations. Most researchers emphasize the influential role of journalistic style, which through the media shapes public opinion on issues of politics, economics, education, health care, war, the future of the country. To cover such a wide range of topics, socio-political vocabulary is used first of all – neutral and emotionally-evaluative, rhetorical questions and imperatives, special terminology, foreign words. There is an ongoing discussion in online publications about the use of the new foreign token «lockdown» instead of the word «quarantine», which has long been learned in the Ukrainian language. Research on this topic has shown that at the initial stage of the pandemic, the word «lockdown» prevailed in the colloquial language of politicians, media personalities and part of society did not quite understand its meaning. Lockdown, in its current interpretation, is a restrictive measure to protect people from a dangerous virus that has spread to many countries; isolation of the population («stay in place») in case of risk of spreading Covid-19. In English, US citizens are told what a lockdown is: «A lockdown is a restriction policy for people or communities to stay where they are, usually due to specific risks to themselves or to others if they can move and interact freely. The term «stay-at-home» or «shelter-in-place» is often used for lockdowns that affect an area, rather than specific locations». Content analysis of online texts leads to the conclusion that in 2020 a special vocabulary was actively functioning, with the appropriate definitions, which the media described as a «dictionary of coronavirus vocabulary». Media broadcasting is the deepest and pulsating source of creative texts with new meanings, phrases, expressiveness. The influential power of the word finds its unconditional embodiment in the media. Journalists, bloggers, experts, politicians, analyzing current events, produce concepts of a new reality. The world is changing and the language of the media is responding to these changes. It manifests itself most vividly and emotionally in the network sphere, in various genres and styles.

Richards, Robin. The Effect of Non-partisan Elections and Decentralisation on Local Government Performance. Institute of Development Studies (IDS), 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.19088/k4d.2021.014.

Full text
Abstract:
This rapid review focusses on whether there is international evidence on the role of non-partisan elections as a form of decentralised local government that improves performance of local government. The review provides examples of this from Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. There are two reported examples in Sub-Saharan Africa of non-partisan elections that delink candidates from political parties during election campaigns. The use of non-partisan elections to improve performance and democratic accountability at the level of government is not common, for example, in southern Africa all local elections at the sub-national sphere follow the partisan model. Whilst there were no examples found where countries shifted from partisan to non-partisan elections at the local government level, the literature notes that decentralisation policies have the effect of democratising and transferring power and therefore few central governments implement it fully. In Africa decentralisation is favoured because it is often used as a cover for central control. Many post-colonial leaders in Africa continue to favour centralised government under the guise of decentralisation. These preferences emanated from their experiences under colonisation where power was maintained by colonial administrations through institutions such as traditional leadership. A review of the literature on non-partisan elections at the local government level came across three examples where this occurred. These countries were: Ghana, Uganda and Bangladesh. Although South Africa holds partisan elections at the sub-national sphere, the election of ward committee members and ward councillors, is on a non-partisan basis and therefore, the ward committee system in South Africa is included as an example of a non-partisan election process in the review.

Economic reasons are among the basic explanatory factors of migration, whether international or internally within a country. In turn, migratory movements have effects on the economy in terms of economic growth in general, but also in the different markets (work, housing, consumer goods, etc.) and public services (education, health, social services, etc.). The purpose of this document is to offer an overview of these interactions between migration and the economy in the case of the Canary Islands. To do this, certain conceptual clarifications will be made initially involving the mutual determination of both processes, before later providing specifics with evidence on the Canarian case for the main issues considered: the economic reasons for migration, and its impact on economic growth, the labour market and the living conditions of the immigrant population. The final section alludes to the importance of the institutional framework that regulates these relations between migration and the economy, which are far from being interpretable as a mechanical relationship and isolated from the political sphere.

Abstract:
The article deals with the ways in which social networks and the blogosphere influence the formation and implementation of a PR campaign. Examples from the political sphere (election campaigns, initiatives), business (TV brands, traditional and online media) have revealed the opportunities that Facebook, Telegram, Twitter, YouTube and blogs promote in promoting advertising, ideas, campaigns, thoughts, or products. Author blogs created on special websites or online media may not be as much of a tool in PR as an additional tool on social media. It is noted that choosing a blog as the main tool of PR campaign has both positive and negative points. Social networks intervene in the sphere of human life, become a means of communication, promotion, branding. The effectiveness of social networks has been evidenced by such historically significant events as Brexit, the Arab Spring, and the Revolution of Dignity. Special attention was paid to the 2019 presidential election. Based on the analysis of individual PR campaigns, the reasons for successful and unsuccessful campaigns from the point of view of network communication, which provide unlimited multimedia and interactive tools for PR, are highlighted. In fact, these concepts significantly affect the effectiveness of the implementation of PR-campaign, its final effectiveness, which is determined by the achievement of goals. Attention is drawn to the culture of communication during the PR campaign, as well as the concepts of “trolls”, “trolling”, “bots”, “botoin industry”. The social communication component of these concepts is unconditional. Choosing a blog as the main tool of a marketing campaign has both positive and negative aspects. Only a person with great creative potential can run and create a blog. In addition, it takes a long time. In fact, these two points are losing compared to other internet marketing tools. Further research is interesting in two respects. First, a comparison of the dynamics of the effectiveness of PR-campaign tools in Ukraine in 2020 and in the past, in particular, at the dawn of state independence. Secondly, to investigate how/or the concept of PR-campaigns in social networks and blogs is constantly changing.

Abstract:
In the practice of a teacher-psychologist at the School of Distance Education, the game “Sign me up as an astronaut”, developed by the author, was tested, aimed at developing the skills of social and psychological interaction in younger adolescents with disabilities through the awareness and strengthening of personal resources by means of game psychocorrection. The specifics of the work of a psychologist at the School of Distance Education are determined by the following circumstances: - students have a severe disability and the corresponding psychophysical characteristics: instability of the emotional-volitional sphere, lack of motivation, severe physical and mental fatigue, low level of social skills, etc. - the use of distance educational technologies in psychocorrectional work; - lack of methodological recommendations for psychocorrectional work in conditions of distance technologies with school-age children. Such recommendations are available mainly for adults, they relate to the educational process, but they do not cover the correctional process. There is enough scientific and methodological literature on psychological and pedagogical correction, which is the basis for ensuring the work of a practicing psychologist, but there are difficulties in transferring these techniques, games, etc. - to the remote mode of correctional and developmental work, especially in the form of group work. During the game, various social and psychological situations are solved, which are selected strictly according to the characteristics of the social experience of the participants.
