Abstract:

Abstract:
Effective human computer interaction is enhanced by a machine?s ability to make educated guesses about the intention of its user. In our research, we have developed a novel plan recognition algorithm ? based on plan space search planners ? to recognize plans given a limited set of observed actions. Our focus in this research is towards accurately picking possible plans and not towards disambiguation or building plan libraries and therefore we complement other advances in this field, namely probability based recognition and other plan library based recognition systems. Along with the ability to recognize overall goal of an agent our algorithm also allows us to make local predictions, a feature absent in most of the other system.

Abstract:
The aim of the present work is to obtain numerical solutions of free space charge motion in cases in which the pertinent quantites depend on more than one space coordinate (non uni-dimensional cases). More specifically, the problems under concern here are those in which a plane electrode, at a constant potential, emit charge in a non-uniform way along them and the resultant deformation of the field lines, in the space between it and another plane grounded electrode parallelly disposed, is looked for. A method based on guessed solutions and also a global one using the hodographic transformation recently developed by Budd and Wheeler are presented. A brief study of the validity of the often employed \"Deutsch assumption\" is also carried out

Abstract:

A user friendly preprocessor was developed and documented for the plane and space frame and space truss structural analysis programs that are based on the matrix displacements method. This preprocessor is comprised of three programs. The main program in the preprocessor is to allow the user to create error free input data files. This program also allows modifications of existing input data files. The two other programs are the library manager and the graphics presentation. The library manager is used to manage the libraries of the element and material properties. The graphics presentation is used to display a plane structure on the graphics display. In Chapter 2, the development of a user friendly preprocessor is discussed. After a short review of the extension of the analysis program from plane frame to space frame in Chapter 3, the preprocessor and its supporting programs are described in detail in the user manual in Chapter 4. Possible extensions to the preprocessor are discussed in Chapter 5. The appendix contains examples of input data files for these structural analysis programs.

Edu-Plant is about the next education typology for teenagers from elementary school to high school in Seoul, South Korea, by criticizing the dominant existing two poles - public school and private institution. In 201, Korean Foundation of the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC) announced STEAM Education, the new vision for the next young generation of Korean students. It is focusing on the inspiring scenario for both teachers and students, allowing them to participate voluntarily in new field of creativity, sharing information and knowledge. The STEAM Education is the strong interdisciplinary system to increase students' interest and raise learning efficiency and creativity. Edu-Plant proposes the spacious creation based on this STEAM Education curriculum, aiming to the desirable studying environment which can adapt to flexible conditions of work based on social interaction. In this sense, the young students act as the knowledge worker or creator, enjoying the interaction of creativity, learning and personal development. It is to be the huge network and promotion of learning events, where people can learn and explore new technologies with creative art exercises. Various spaces in Edu-Plant open to both students and the public, by broadcasting students' creative work to their friends, families and anonymous public. It is true the vibrant field of new education, a seamless network of information gathering, social spaces, restaurant, and beautiful outdoor spaces.

Hacking, P. "A compactification of the space of plane curves." Thesis, University of Cambridge, 2001. http://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?uin=uk.bl.ethos.599821.

Full text
Abstract:
We define a geometrically meaningful compactification of the moduli space of smooth plane curves which can be calculated explicitly. The basic idea is to regard a plane curve DCP2 as a pair (P2, D) of a surface together with a divisor, and allow both the surface and the curve to degenerate. For plane curves of degree d ≥ 4, we obtain a compactification Md which is a moduli space of stable pairs (X, D) using the log minimal model program. A stable pair (X, D) consists of a surface X such that - KX is ample and a divisor D in a given linear system on X with specified singularities. Note that X may be non-normal, and KX is π-Cartier but not Cartier in general. We give a rough classification of stable pairs of arbitrary degree, a complete classification in degrees 4 and 5, and a partial classification in degree 6. The compactification is particularly simple if d is not a multiple of 3- in particular the surface X has at most 2 components. We give a characterisation of these surfaces in terms of the singularities and the Picard numbers of the components. Moreover, we show that Md is smooth in this case.

Abstract:
The basis of any human existence is a space to inhabit to support that existence. Space, given by nature or created by man is always determined by the "planes" by which the particular space is enclosed. The issue, (what kind of materials these planes are made of - a roof, a wall , a column), is most important for the impression the space creates on the inhabitants. Having layers of different materials create, articulate and order the spacial layout for a building is the central theoretical statement. In order to translate this theoretical Q statement from the realm of the written words into the language of architecture - sketches, drawings and models examples of two designs are offered.

As intelligent spaces have become more prevalent, the need for diagnosis and recovery from failures in these spaces has also grown. In an effort to make these types of spaces more useable for people who neither care about nor want to understand the underlying technology, encapsulation of high-level ideas into plans is being explored. Unfortunately, these plans are not always executed flawlessly. To deal with these failures, we have developed a system for plan recovery in intelligent spaces called a desktop multi-player virtual simulation game. In Charles River City, students work in teams to SPRIE. SPRIE is an automated system that uses a two-stage process for recovery from plan execution failures. In the first stage, the failure is diagnosed using Bayesian networks. In the second stage, a alternate plan is selected to recover from the failure. By automating the recovery process, the burden of understand the underlying architecture of the intelligent space is removed from the user.

Ceylan, Hakan. "Using Reinforcement Learning in Partial Order Plan Space." Thesis, University of North Texas, 2006. https://digital.library.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metadc5232/.

Abstract:
Partial order planning is an important approach that solves planning problems without completely specifying the orderings between the actions in the plan. This property provides greater flexibility in executing plans; hence making the partial order planners a preferred choice over other planning methodologies. However, in order to find partially ordered plans, partial order planners perform a search in plan space rather than in space of world states and an uninformed search in plan space leads to poor efficiency. In this thesis, I discuss applying a reinforcement learning method, called First-visit Monte Carlo method, to partial order planning in order to design agents which do not need any training data or heuristics but are still able to make informed decisions in plan space based on experience. Communicating effectively with the agent is crucial in reinforcement learning. I address how this task was accomplished in plan space and the results from an evaluation of a blocks world test bed.

Abstract:
Traditionally European farmland management has declined during the last century, mainlydue to abandonment or intensification. When traditional management is replaced by newmethods many species are negatively affected and often threatened with extinction. In thisthesis, the Stockholm archipelago is used as a platform to study the effects of land use changeover time. The overall aim is to examine how time and space affects plant biodiversity in arural landscape, with focus on heterogeneous pastures. Historical records and maps were interpreted together with aerial photos and used to constructfour time-layers of land use: reflecting the landscape 200 years ago, 100 years ago, 50 yearsago and present. Investigations of plant species richness was conducted in seven habitats; 1)grazed fields, 2) grazed forest edges, 3) grazed forest interior, 4) former grazed fields, 5)former grazed forest edges, 6) former grazed forest interior, and 7) historical pasture islands,on 35 islands in Hjälmö-Lådna archipelago on the east-coast of Sweden. Plant speciesrichness was measured for all plant species and for grassland specialist species at three scales:i) fine-scale diversity (α div), ii) large-scale diversity (γ div ), and iii) spatial turnover (β div).Using Structural Equation Models (SEM) the variation in species diversity and plantcommunity composition was investigated in relation to landscape context, space andmanagement history. The land use change in the Hjälmö-Lådna archipelago followed the general trends on themainland in Sweden and the rest of Europe with loss of traditional managed habitats, such asmeadows or wooded pastures. However, no intensification and large-scale agriculture hasdeveloped on the islands, mainly because of physical limitations, but also because ofeconomical and conservation reasons. Surprisingly, the grazing pressure on the remaininggrazed habitats had not changed notable over the last century; although the study area was notparticularly species rich (highest average was 15 species/ m2 in grazed fields). Adjacenthabitats; field and wood pasture, showed a higher similarity in community composition thanexpected compared to random pairs. Grazing and proportion of openness had a positiveinfluence on species richness and especially on grassland specialists. The variation of totaldiversity at the landscape scale was best explained by the heterogeneity of grazed forest edgesand the local species diversity in fields. The results from the study suggest that grazing is important also in species-poor landscapes, and that it can aid in protecting and promote species-richness also in other types of speciespoorlandscapes. To prevent further loss of biodiversity it is necessary to keep fields andforest edges open with continuous management. To maintain values of high biodiversity andculture in the archipelago it is therefore important that farmers are subsidised by EU tocontinue to grazie heterogeneous habitats and pastures with many trees.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis numerically investigates the dynamics of turbulence in plane Poiseuille flow driven by a fixed pressure gradient. The focus is especially on computations carried out within the minimal flow unit (M.F.U.). In the first part, turbulent simulations are carried out in spatially periodic channels. In the M.F.U. simulations, the turbulent activity appears to be localised near one wall and the long term dynamics features abrupt reversals. In the next part, we look numerically for exact coherent states in the M.F.U. system. Edge states, which are computed using bisection exhibit streamwise vortices and a single pair of streaks localised near only wall at all times. Different state space representations and phase portraits were constructed using appropriately chosen variables. The dynamics along a turbulent reversal is organised around transient visits to a subspace of (almost) symmetric flow fields. A nearly-symmetric exact travelling wave (TW) solution was found in this subspace. Stability analysis of the TW revealed that its unstable eigenvectors separate the state space into two symmetric basins. In the last part of this thesis, the self-similarity of the different non-trivial equilibrium flow regimes computed in this work, is addressed. Contrarily to most studies focusing on symmetric solutions, the present study suggests that inner scaling is relevant for the description of edge regimes as well although the self-similarity is not as satisfactory as for the turbulent regimes

Qin, Ning. "Towards numerical simulation of hypersonic flow around space-plane shapes." Thesis, University of Glasgow, 1987. http://theses.gla.ac.uk/4412/.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis reports research carried out towards numerical simulation of hypersonic flows around space-plane shapes. For high speed flows around conical geometries, a locally conical approximation was introduced, which resulted in locally conical Navier-Stokes equations. In order to achieve accuracy and efficiency for steady state solutions, various methods were investigated. Based on the MacCormack implicit scheme and the Beam-Warming implicit scheme, two implicit procedures were developed to solve the locally conical Navier-Stokes equations (LCNSE). A new implicit boundary treatment was introduced in the MacCormack implicit scheme. The source term in the governing equations was treated explicitly. A simplified Beam-Warming implicit scheme was developed for its application to the LCNSE. Accuracy of the two schemes was investigated. The time step dependence of steady state solution with MacCormack-type schemes was analyzed and a procedure to reduce the error was proposed. To further accelerate the convergence to the steady state, two multigrid methods were applied to the two implicit schemes respectively. An extention of Ni-type multigrid method was developed to accelerate the MacCormack implicit scheme, and the FAS multigrid method was employed to accelerate the simplified Beam-Warming implicit scheme. In parallel, a new approach for fast steady state solution - sparse quasi-Newton method - was proposed to avoid difficulties in linearization associated with implicit schemes for general CFD problems. Formulation was given for three-point and five-point spatial discretization schemes. Preliminary results of a nozzle problem with van Leer's flux splitting and Harten's TVD high shock-resolution schemes illustrated significantly faster convergence to steady state with the sparse quasi-Newton approach than those with corresponding implicit operators of van Leer and Harten. Numerical simulations by solving LCNSE with the two implicit schemes developed in this study were carried out on hypersonic flows around a cone, on the leeside of a delta wing and beneath/over a cone-delta-wing combination. Detailed structures of the complex flow interaction were well predicted including the existence of embedded shock waves and secondary vortices. Comparison with available experimental data was made. Euler solutions were also carried out to compare with the N-S solutions. In the present hypersonic delta wing flow simulation, different phenomena were found than would have been expected from the Miller and Wood classification in the lower speed range. The numerical simulation of hypersonic viscous flows around a cone-delta-wing combination was the first flow field simulation around such a shape representing wing-body interference. It was found that the complexity of the flow field results from the shock-shock, shock-boundary layer and shock-vortex interactions in the flow field. High local heating and its cause were revealed near the corner on both the windward side and the leeward side surfaces of the geometry.

Abstract:
This thesis is a meditation upon silence, upon its ontological relationship to architecture. As such, it relies more upon insight and contemplation than analysis. It seeks to explore this realm through the making of a trappist monastery, to ask fundamental questions about the nature of human dwelling in the most complete sense, to stir the memory and perhaps to move the heart toward that silence which is beyond thought, which precedes and bounds and yet pervades all human experience.

Full text
Abstract:
When contemplating the history of religious architecture several typologies become apparent. There is the refinement of Gothic cathedrals where the volume and use of material not only reinforced the liturgy but gave breath to a tempo of chant. There also is the small New England chapel steeple and modest gable which provide such a compelling image that it has become an icon in American culture. This thesis explores the design of a sacred space independent of traditional symbolism. Rather than attempting to refine an existing typology this design explored what is fundamental in creating a sacred space. A church for a congregation of Spiritualists, who currently are renovating a Methodist church in Georgetown. [2] This design is centered on a few elements. In response to Spiritualist liturgy which is devoid of an altar there is an exploration of defining void thus creating a focal point by the enclosure of space. The importance of views is emphasized, expressly views to sacred areas that are not actually touched. Layering of transparency is explored which provides a vehicle for information between discrete areas.

Rivera-Amado, Alma Carolina. "Identifying physiological traits to optimize assimilate partitioning and spike fertility for yield potential in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes." Thesis, University of Nottingham, 2016. http://eprints.nottingham.ac.uk/32376/.

Full text
Abstract:
Although wheat demand is expected to increase along with a projected growing population, the global rate of wheat yield increase appears to be declining. Genetic progress in yield potential in the past has been achieved mainly through increases in grains m-2 and harvest index with no major changes in above-ground biomass; however, HI has not increased since about 1990 indicating that further increases in yield potential will rely on increases in biomass while optimizing grain DM partitioning. A panel of 26 high biomass CIMMYT elite spring wheat cultivars (CIMMYT Mexico Core Germplasm; CIMCOG) was evaluated for grain yield, above-ground dry-matter (AGDM), DM partitioning and spike fertility in three field experiments (2011, 2012 and 2013) in NW Mexico. An additional field experiment was carried out in 2014 on a subset of four cultivars to examine source-sink related traits by imposing source manipulation treatments (leaf-lamina removal and leaf-sheath shading) on the crop. The main objective was to identify the physiological determinants of grains m-2 and HI in relation to DM partitioning among organs and to prioritise traits for application in breeding to increase HI in high biomass genotypes. Genetic variation in grain yield among genotypes was explained mainly by differences in AGDM. Fruiting efficiency (grains per unit spike DM at anthesis) was affected by high rachis specific weight and appeared to be important in grains m-2 determination. Trends for positive associations were observed between HI and spike partitioning index (Spike DM / AGDM - at anthesis; SPI). Stem DM proportion (mainly structural DM in internodes 2 and 3) was negatively associated with SPI; peduncle length and peduncle DM as a proportion of the stem DM on the other hand were more strongly associated to spike DM per unit area. In 2014, reductions in final grain weight in response to source reduction treatments were relatively low compared to the estimated reductions in light interception. No up-regulation of photosynthesis rate was observed by the flag-leaf or the spike in response to source reductions, suggesting that grain growth was overall sink limited but close to a co-limitation by source and sink. These results indicated scope for designing a plant ideotype to raise HI in high biomass spring wheat cultivars with reductions in stem structural DM (in upper internodes) without major effects on water soluble carbohydrate accumulation (in lower internodes). Finally, results from the source-sink manipulation treatments indicated limited scope for reductions in leaf-sheath and lamina DM partitioning during stem elongation to favour spike growth.

Abstract:
A method which allows for the analytical evaluation of the interaction between a transient plane wave and a conductive half-space is presented. We assume that an electromagnetic plane wave is obliquely incident on a conducting half-space, which is modeled by a frequency independent permittivity and conductivity. The general case of the electromagnetic plane wave is divided into two polarizations: transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM). The time-domain expressions for the reflected and transmitted waves are first represented as inverse Laplace transforms. The transient fields are then shown to consist of two canonical integrals, f(β) and e(β)The canonical integrals, in turn, are solved analytically, thereby yielding closed-form solutions involving incomplete Lipschitz-Hankel integrals (ILHIs). The ILHIs are computed numerically using efficient convergent and asymptotic series expansions, thus enabling the efficient computation of the transient fields. The exact, closed-form expressions are verified by comparing with previously published results and with results obtained using standard numerical integration and fast Fourier transform algorithms. An asymptotic series representation for the ILHIs is then employed to obtain a relatively simple late-time approximation for the transient fields. This approximate late-time expression is shown to accurately model the fields over a large portion of their time history. The closed-form transient field expressions are used to investigate the effects of neglecting displacement currents when studying transient wave propagation in the conductive half-space. The diffusion fields are found to yield accurate results at late times.

Abstract:
This thesis looks at various problems relating to the value distribution of certain discrete potentials. Chapter 1 - Background material is introduced, the motivation behind this work is explained, and existing results in the area are presented. Chapter 2 - By using a method based on a result of Cartan, the existence of zeros is shown for potentials in both the complex plane and real space. Chapter 3 - Using an argument of Hayman, we expand on an established result concerning these potentials in the complex plane. We also look at the consequences of a spacing of the poles. Chapter 4 - We extend the potentials in the complex plane to a generalised form, and establish some value distribution results. Chapter 5 - We examine the derivative of the basic potentials, and explore the assumption that it takes the value zero only finitely often. Chapter 6 - We look at a new potential in real space which has advantages over the previously examined ones. These advantages are explained. Appendix - The results of computer simulations relating to these problems are presented here, along with the programs used.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Thesis (Ph. D.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Architecture and Planning, 1995.
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 260-263).
In this thesis an architectural design theory is premised so that plan making can start from a 'space scheme' which is a description of 'hierarchic balloon representation'. The space organization of a plan is described in hierarchic balloon representation in terms of a part/whole hierarchy of adumbrated space units. The information processing from bitmap representation of a plan image to hierarchic balloon representation of a space scheme is proposed to have two intermediate representations: FEB representation and primitive balloon representation. The purpose of constructing an FEB representation is to provide a principled ground for space identification. The idea of the FEB representation originates from the simulation of the directional inclination resulting from imaginary space perception in a plan. The primitive balloon representation is constructed to explicate the process of identifying and describing space primitives in a plan. The primitive balloon representation is so named because space primitives are described by extending the basin core outward which resembles the process of inflating a balloon. Hierarchic balloon representation differs from both FEB representation and primitive balloon representation in that it is dependent on primitive balloon representation by using the transform algorithm of deriving FEB representation but it also allows optional modifications.

Trujillo, Negrellos Eliseo. "Identify physiological traits to increase yield potential through enhanced biomass, spike fertility and optimized source-sink balance in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) genotypes." Thesis, University of Nottingham, 2016. http://eprints.nottingham.ac.uk/31200/.

Full text
Abstract:
Increased demand for food, climate change and greater dependence on food imports in less developed countries represent a challenge to achieve global food security. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is the most widely grown crop and an essential component in ensuring global food security. Therefore, breeders need to develop new cultivars with higher grain yield potential. One physiological avenue to raise yield potential is by improving the allocation of assimilate to the spike during stem elongation to enhance grains m-2 and harvest index (proportion of above-ground dry matter at harvest in grain; HI). Partitioning to spikes could be increased to enhance floret survival by reducing competition from alternative sinks, including roots, leaves, stems and infertile tillers (Foulkes et al., 2011). However, attention must also be paid to maintaining post-anthesis source (photosynthetic capacity) to ensure grain growth of new cultivars is not source-limited. Although yield grains in wheat have historically been associated with traits influencing the capacity of the grains to store assimilate (sink), rather than influencing potential assimilate production (source), there is some evidence that modern cultivars are moving closer towards source limitation of grain growth (Acreche and Slafer 2009). So it is important to quantify the source and sink balance in CIMMYT elite germplasm and its physiological determinants to guide further strategies for yield potential improvement. The objectives of this study were to: i) Identify physiological traits determining enhanced above-ground biomass per unit area and radiation-use-efficiency (above-ground biomass per unit photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) interception; RUEPAR), spike fertility and HI in modern high biomass CIMMYT spring wheat germplasm, ii) quantify post-anthesis source: sink balance according to responses to a degraining to source-sink manipulation treatment, and iii) identify marker-trait associations for grain weight response to degraining (as an indication of source-sink balance) and senescence-related traits. In this study, a panel of twenty six elite CIMMYT spring wheat cultivars and a wheat association mapping (WAMI) panel of 294 genotypes comprising advanced lines and cultivars were evaluated in replicated field experiments under full irrigation in NW Mexico. The 26 cultivar panel was grown in in three seasons (2010-11, 2011-12 and 2012-13) and the WAMI panel in two seasons (2012-13 and 2013-14). In the 26 cultivar panel, growth analysis was carried at key development stages to assess above-ground dry matter (AGDM), DM partitioning and green canopy area. Assessment of fractional PAR interception by the canopy was carried out during the stem-elongation phase (GS31-GS65+7d) and RUEPAR was calculated over this phase in 2011-12 and 2012-13. Flag-leaf stomatal conductance was measured at around anthesis and senescence parameters were assessed at the canopy level and at leaf level. In both the 26 cultivar panel and the WAMI panel experiments, a degraining treatment was carried out at anthesis (GS65) +7-14 days by removing half of the spikelets to assess grain weight responses compared to control spikes as an indicator of source-sink balance and leaf and canopy senescence parameters were quantified in the control treatment. In the 26 cultivar panel, grain yield variation was associated more strongly with AGDM at harvest than HI; and biomass was positively associated with year of release. Radiation-use efficiency during stem elongation (GS61 – GS65+7d) showed genetic variation in one year out of two in which this trait was measured and a positive association with crop growth rate (AGDM g m-2 d-1) and with flag-leaf nitrogen (N) content. Furthermore, both flag-leaf stomatal conductance at anthesis and RUEPAR showed a positive association with grain yield among the 26 cultivars. There was genetic variation in each of spike partitioning index (proportion of AGDM as spike at GS65+7d) and fruiting efficiency (grain per g spike DM at GS61+7d) positively associated with grains m-2 amongst the 26 genotypes, and there was no trade-off between SPI and FE. Fruiting efficiency was associated with a greater proportion of lemma DM within the spike morphological components (glume, rachis, lemma, palea and awn). Results showed there is scope to increase biomass through RUEPAR and RUEPAR could be enhanced by selecting for increased stomatal conductance and/or flag-leaf N content. Grain weight responses to the degraining treatment in both the 26 cultivar panel and the WAMI panel showed that grain growth was either sink limited or co-limited by sink and source in the genotypes. In both panels, genotypes with higher grain yield showed higher grain weight responses to degraining (indicating a greater extent of source limitation); and greater grain weight responses were associated with faster senescence rate, supporting a co-limitation of source and sink in modern high yielding CIMMYT spring wheat cultivars. The genetic association mapping analysis identified a marker-trait association for grain weight response to degraining (an indicator of source-sink balance) on chromosome 7A in the WAMI panel. Grain m-2 was not associated with grain yield indicating that grain weight at some extent is driving gains to grain yield due to its positive association with year of release. Grain yield positively correlated with response to degraining over years, grain weight response to degraining was negatively associated with Flag leaf senescence in the WAMI population. Genetic variation in radiation interception by the canopy during stem elongation from GS31 to GS65+7d positively associated with accumulated above-ground dry matter amongst the CIMCOG genotypes. There was genetic variation in radiation-use efficiency (in 2013) during stem elongation and RUE was positively related with above-ground biomass at anthesis amongst the CIMCOG genotypes. Therefore, in order to increase grain yield is necessary to increase simultaneously source and sink traits.

Graef, Jared. "B-Plane Targeting with the Spacecraft Trajectory Optimization Suite." DigitalCommons@CalPoly, 2020. https://digitalcommons.calpoly.edu/theses/2251.

Full text
Abstract:
In interplanetary trajectory applications, it is common to design arrival trajectories based on B-plane target values. This targeting scheme, B-plane targeting, allows for specific target orbits to be obtained during mission design. A primary objective of this work was to implement B-plane targeting into the Spacecraft Trajectory Optimization Suite (STOpS). This work was based on the previous versions of STOpS done by Fitzgerald and Sheehan, however STOpS was redeveloped from MATLAB to python. This updated version of STOpS implements 3-dimensional computation, departure and arrival orbital phase modeling with patched conics, B-plane targeting, and a trajectory correction maneuver. The optimization process is done with three evolutionary algorithms implemented in an island model paradigm. The algorithms and the island model were successfully verified with known optimization functions before being used in the orbital optimization cases. While the algorithms and island model are not new to this work, they were altered in this redevelopment of STOpS to closer relate to literature. This enhanced literature relation allows for easier comprehension of the both the formulation of the schemes and the code itself. With a validated optimization scheme, STOpS is able to compute near-optimal trajectories for numerous historical missions. New mission types were also easily implemented and modeled with STOpS. A trajectory correction maneuver was shown to further optimize the trajectories end conditions, when convergence was reached. The result is a versatile optimization scheme that is highly customization to the invested user, while remaining simple for novice users.
