Spices, renowned for flavor enhancement, also act as natural preservatives, prompting exploration into non-thermal preservation methods due to drawbacks of traditional techniques. Antimicrobial properties of herbs and spices, like cloves and black pepper, contribute to food preservation and offer health benefits. Traditional preservation methods like thermal treatment, drying, canning, freezing, and salt-based techniques are employed for preservation of spices. In shape modeling applications, \emph{deformation} is the process of applying a continuous, non-affine transformation to a shape. The definition of the deformation should be independent of the representation of the shape. In practice, the shape is often represented by its boundary, which is defined by a set of vertices and by connectivity information. The transformation is often applied to these points. A deformation algorithm takes the orginal shape and designer's choices as inputs, and outputs the deformed shape. This dissertation dedicates to introducing \emph{spine-based deformation}: Any

Open space preservation becomes an increasingly important concern in areas with a rapid population growth and extensive land consumption. Open space provides multiple benefits to people on both local and regional scales, including recreational, environmental, economic, and ecological benefits. Land ownership determines how land is managed, utilized, or conserved. Taking this into consideration, some lands are designated for open space and permanently preserved while others can be sold and lost to different uses, such as residential and commercial. Consolidation of databases solved facility connectivity, data transfer, and communication problems and improved data accessibility, consistency and reliability.

Abstract:
Kyo-machiya are traditional townhouses in Kyoto that represent an important aspect of cultural heritage preservation. Because of the poor thermal insulation performance, they require energy-saving renovations. However, their unique soil walls possess a moisture-buffering effect that can be strongly influenced by the applied renovation plan and are expected to remain functional even after renovation. Conventional renovation methods apply an inside vapor barrier to the interior insulation to prevent condensation between the insulation and wall; however, applying this barrier may hinder the buffe

Abstract:
The focus of this report is hydropower generated in the Norrbotten region of Sweden, in the larger context of the Nordic and EU regions. Recognizing hydropower’s changing role in meeting growing energy demand is crucial. Hydropower provides energy security and grid stability for Sweden, which has long relied on the low-carbon energy source for much of its electricity. Industrial expansion, particularly in northern Sweden, is expected to drive a substantial increase in energy demand, leading to more demand for hydropower. At the same time, more renewable energy will be added to the Swedish elec

Between 2-4% of researchers admit to have falsified or fabricated their data. The prevalence of such unethical behavior can be as high as 10% in some disciplines or countries. Data falsification is an extreme form of questionable research practices that are both less problematic and much more widespread: surveys on different disciplines have shown that more than half of researchers make some form of selective reporting or add new data until they obtain significant results. Unethical practices harm the global quality of research. Provided they have been validated by peer review, fabricated, dis

The main recommendations of the panel report can be summarised under five key headings:  Building blocks: The ultimate aim should be to build rich, detailed and testable narratives situated within a European context, and addressing phenomena from the longue durée to the short-term over international to local scales. Chronological control is essential to this and effective dating strategies are required to enable generation-level analysis. The ‘serendipity factor’ of archaeological work must be enhanced by recognising and getting the most out of information-rich sites as they appear. o There i
