Abstract:
Abstract This article examines the ways in which Kalimpong, living up to its moniker as a “nest of spies,” was a site where local and international intrigues played out, especially at the local Chinese Chung Hwa School. It examines the period between the 1940s and early 1960s, when Kalimpong, on account of its strategic location, was home to “foreign Kautilyas” of different intelligence services. The Chung Hwa School came to play a part in this game as it provided cover/camouflage for Chinese secret agents. The secret services run by the British colonial state—and later the Indian state—suspec

The article deals with the genre features of L.I. Gaidai “The Diamond Arm”. It is noted that in this fi lm, in addition to a satirical denunciation of various shortcomings of Soviet reality, L.I. Gaidai gives a parody on numerous foreign and domestic fi lms, primarily fi lms about James Bond, foreign parodies of Bond and other spies, detective and crime comedies and individual comedy roles. The connection in the fi lm of numerous echoes with parodied prototypes required the director to turn to a special genre – the mockumentary fi lm, which began to actively develop in those years in Western c

Abstract:
The Melaka Sultanate rose to prominence as a dominant maritime power, controlling the vital Strait of Melaka and serving as a pivotal center of trade and commerce. The kingdom's prosperity was fuelled by its strategic location, attracting merchants and traders from distant lands who dealt in coveted commodities like spices, precious metals, and gemstones. Nangka Island played a significant role in this bustling trade network, potentially serving as a repository for the Sultanate's accumulated wealth. Abstract:
It has often amounted to little more than background noise. Now, engineers with one of the largest shale producers in the US consider the water-hammer signal to represent a potential trove of insight into stimulation performance. ConocoPhillips has spent almost 3 years developing a new approach to water-hammer analysis and recently shared the first public details of that work in a technical paper (SPE 204154). Perhaps the core takeaway is that within a few minutes of post-stage data, a picture of reservoir and stimulation quality is available. The challenge lies in how to bring that picture in

Abstract:
This study explores public interest and misinformation surrounding climate change through an analysis of Google Trends data. It focuses on online search behaviors related to “climate”, “climate change”, “climate hoax”, and “HAARP” throughout 2023. By tracking search patterns, we aim to understand public perceptions, concerns, and the influence of misinformation on climate change discourse. Our findings indicate a strong temporal and regional variability in search interest, which spikes notably during significant events like Earth Day and in response to public statements by influential figures.

In a media saturated world, doodles have recently received the kind of attention usually reserved for coverage of racy extra marital affairs, corrupt governance, and product malfunction. Former British Prime Minister Blair’s private doodling at a World Economic Forum meeting in 2005 raised suspicions that he, according to one keen graphologist, struggled “to maintain control in a confusing world," which infers he was attempting to cohere a scattershot, fragmentary series of events (Spiegel). However, placid-faced Microsoft CEO Bill Gates, who sat nearby, actually scrawled the doodles. In this
