Abstract:
Field and herbarium studies of the three varieties of Sporobolus vaginiflorus (var. inaequalis, var. vaginiflorus, and var. ozarkanus) in eastern Ontario found that (1) there is a strong tendency for the varieties to occur alone; (2) var. inaequalis occurs primarily on roadside gravels, river shores, and granite barrens and is the only variety associated with acid as well as alkaline substrates; and (3) both var. vaginiflorus and var. ozarkanus are confined to alvar landscapes but occupy different geographical regions. The ecological and geographical differentiation of these taxa supports thei

Abstract:
Systematic field sampling revealed that within 50 years since the first records in Slovenia, <em>Sporobolus</em> <em>neglectus</em> and <em>S</em>. <em>vaginiflorus</em> became widespread. They are two superficially similar N American annual grass species with cleistogamous spikelets and similar ecology that are confined to dry ruderal places in their European secondary range, especially along roads. The oldest records of naturalised populations of both species in Europe date back to the 1950s, when both were found for the first time in the Vipava valley (SW Slovenia). They spread slowly in th

Abstract:
Landslides are natural disasters that cause a lot of damage towards both human and biodiversity on earth. The damage is significant enough to deplete nature’s resources and claim human lives. Vegetation on slope play a crucial role in stabilizing them by strengthening the roots and influencing the saturated soil water cycle. The study investigates the morphology and physiological performance of different grass species in direct sunlight on selected slope and flat areas. Additionally, it compares the biodiversity of grass species between these two areas, providing insights into their adaptation
