Abstract:
One of the main factors that determine the dynamics of these indicators is the degree of development of organizations in the system of training sports reserves: children’s and youth sports schools, specialized children’s and youth schools of the Olympic reserve, schools of higher sports skills and schools of physical culture. Football is the most popular among summer Olympic sports, and therefore a popular sport in sports schools, and also the athletics has a fairly high level of popularity among children in Lviv region, that is established. Chess is the most popular among non-Olympic sports in Lviv region. The results of the study established that there are 2,257 educational groups in Lviv region, the largest number of which are groups of primary training. Such popularity testifies to the increased interest of children in these sports, both in the region and in the country, as well as in the world. The obtained results of the study will predict the direction of physical culture and sports interests and needs, as well as reveal the development trends of certain sports in the region.

Abstract:
Abstract Feminist sports histories have sought to give voice to the experiences and subjectivities of female athletes and increasingly of female sports fans. Yet the passions of female sports fans have been neglected. This paper traces the affects and subjectivities of female followers of Australian Rules football by way of indepth interviews along with the writings of, and about, female fans. More specifically, it contrasts the relatively inclusive passions fostered by the spectator culture of Australian Rules football with the gendered limits around the possible dreams this sport provokes, before turning to the supposedly “feminine” fantasies of female fans, and concluding with a coda on the problematic intersections of football and sex. Writing the passions of female sports fans into feminist histories of sport allows for a richer understanding of the layered historical interplay of gender and sexuality with the intriguing pleasures and power at the center of popular sporting cultures.

Abstract:
Films and sports played central roles in Cold War popular culture. Each helped set ideological agendas domestically and internationally while serving as powerful substitutes for direct superpower conflict. This article brings film and sport together by offering the first comparative analysis of how U.S. and Soviet cinema used sport as an instrument of propaganda during the Cold War. The article explores the different propaganda styles that U.S. and Soviet sports films adopted and pinpoints the political functions they performed. It considers what Cold War sports cinema can tell us about political culture in the United States and the Soviet Union after 1945 and about the complex battle for hearts and minds that was so important to the East-West conflict.

Abstract:
Bibliography: pages 233-237.
The rapid industrialization which transformed South African Society after the discovery of minerals, had a profound impact on the lives of most South Africans. The process of urbanization escalated during and after the Second World War because of better wages and job opportunities in the urban areas. South African urbanization was characterized by the brutal manner in which the state dealt with the Black people. The White middle and working classes' fear of being engulfed by this Black tide led to the multi-pronged strategies which were devised to contain and co-opt the Africans, hence the creation of townships like Langa. This study looks at how the journey from the rural areas to the cities became part of the 'making of Black working class'. Material conditions in the cities were characterized by social squalor and overcrowding. Ghetto-like conditions created ethnic identities and working class culture, consciousness and community struggles came to reflect capitalist domination in the twentieth century township of Langa. Many residents in the township indulged in leisure pursuits such as dance and music which had their origins in the rural areas and this indicated an important cultural resource which they adhered to so as to cope with the alienating and corrosive compound and hostel life. Some of the residents found pleasure in leisure pursuits whose roots and ethos could be traced to the Victorian period such as cricket, soccer and rugby. All these leisure pursuits however, came largely to be influenced by the realities of township life and the general national and economic exploitation. The working class in Langa was not a homogeneous block as there were intense struggles between the migrants and immigrants over township space and resources. Therefore festivals and sporting activities played an important part in the cultural history of Langa township's effort to create "communities". The last part of the study looked at how the conditions in the city led to the realization by the dominated classes that the solution towards the alleviation of the conditions that they were confronted with was through the formation of structures which aimed at overthrowing institutions of oppression, such as the pass laws.

Abstract:
Religion
Ph.D.
This dissertation explores the functions of athletic male bodies within sports evangelism. I argue that the production of the male body within sports evangelism – both physical and symbolic - plays an integral part in the mission of Christian athletes by using the body as a medium for conveying religious messages about masculinity to young men. I focus upon sports evangelism as both entertainment spectacle and as a performance of masculinity, the commercialization of evangelism in the contemporary United States, legitimated violence as religious expression, and the paradoxical relationship between bodily improvement and bodily harm within sports. I begin with a review of the sports and religion literature, identifying common themes and shortcomings, with particular regard to how Christian athletes supplement their oral ministrations with physical action. Following this, I offer a very broad survey the role of sports as socializing institutions within Western Christian history, culminating in the 20th century transition from an athletic culture driven primarily by participation to one primarily driven by consumption and spectatorship. The remaining chapters are case studies of how sports ministries and evangelical athletes have championed particular political positions from the 1980s to the present. I conclude by discussing the limits of these performances of masculinity, highlighting how masculinist fantasies of power and Christian identity in sports evangelism support conservative Christian political practices and ideologies, inscribed on the bodies of participants.

Abstract:
This paper examines the way journalists have covered national anthem protests since Colin Kaepernick began kneeling in late 2016. It analyzes the language used to discuss the protest in order to discover how the media obscured Kaepernick’s initial intent. It then assesses the language used in discussion of subsequent protests in professional sports, concluding that writers learned how to better frame their subjects from the public’s reception to and understanding of Kaepernick. In the early days of his demonstration, stories often lacked crucial information: whether it was general context, or the approval of Green Beret Nate Boyer. The paper circles back to Kaepernick, discussing his Nike ad campaign, its media coverage, and how capitalizing on his fame obfuscated his movement forever. From this, we learn the importance of active reading and paying attention to the biases or misinformation in media coverage.

Abstract:
AbstractThis chapter analyzes recent ads created by Japanese sports brands celebrating female empowerment, with a focus on ads by Nike Japan. Most of these ads, which can be found on YouTube, illustrate a nuanced maneuver on the part of Nike Japan as they heed Nike headquarter’s diversity strategy but simultaneously try to calibrate its social message to be more acceptable to the general Japanese public. The chapter argues that in this effort to cater to Japanese society, Nike Japan’s message has become increasingly conservative in tone and ironically less geared to advancing the diversity and inclusion agenda. A comparison with other domestic competitors is made to highlight Nike’s portrayal of female athletes.

Abstract:
In order to identify existing problems and prospects for the development of the ethno-sports movement in order to further expand the sphere of physical culture and sports in the region, the article analyses the formation and development of ethnic sports in the Sverdlovsk region. The study has been conducted for several years with the employement of such methods as questionnaires and social surveys, the analysis of literature and official documents, the projection method. The survey questions concerned the awareness of students of the Institute of Physical Education regarding the development of ethno-sports in the country and in the region. A low level of awareness of the development of the ethno-sports field among Bachelors of Physical Education was identified, which is a main problem of the subject matter. As a result of the deep research into problems of the promotion of ethnic sports, it was decided to elaborate and implement the pilot project ‘ETHNIC Festival’ aimed at the popularisation of ethnic sports in the city of Yekaterinburg. An analysis of official documents has shown that the region is now actively developing federations for traditional Russian sports, however, they are not very popular among the population. The current activities in the field of ethno-sports are not sufficient to attract the general public to the process. The obtained data indicated the urgency of the popularisation and cultivation of national sport disciplines and competitions. A sociological survey of EthnoFestival participants showed that one of the ways to revive national games and sports is to hold mass events to popularise ethno-culture.

Abstract:
ABSTRACT The topic of this report is related to introducing information about the Olympic flame’s passing through Bulgaria in 1936. Our country takes a significant place in the development of the international Olympic movement. Since it participated in the first modern Olympic Games, our country has persisted in establishing the Olympic values in society through the gymnastics movement, the Bulgarian Olympic Committee activities, and other prominent sports people’s activities. An important feature related to Bulgarian sport’s involvement in the Olympic idea and the Olympic movement was our active participation in organizing the first carrying of the Olympic flame. This study aims to reveal new information on the topic. The research encompasses several major areas for collecting information – foreign literary sources research (13 sources); a survey of all publications by Bulgarian researchers-historians in the field of sport and the Olympic movement in Bulgaria (11 sources); a review of all preserved Bulgarian periodicals since 1936 (74 articles found), review of the „Olympia Zeitung“since 1936 (8 articles found) and review of Greek newspapers since 1936 (4 articles found). Methodologically, all the information found in scientific or popular publications was systematized by using content analysis, comparative analysis, and critical analysis. The keywords used to search for information on the topic were: Olympic Flame, Olympic Flame Torch, Olympic Games 1936, and Olympic symbols. For the aim of the research we used data retrieved from Journal of Olympic History, Journal of the History of Sport, International Olympic Academy, Olympic Review, www.academia.edu, as well as books and publications pre-served in the historical archive of National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski”, the Central National Archive, the Regional archives, and the regional history museums in the towns where the Olympic flame went through. In the unfavorable material and economic conditions in the 1930s our country created an excellent organization and turned this event into one of the most important social-cultural phenomena, which influenced the new perception about the role and significance of the Olympic Games and amateur sport.

The subject of this paper is the COVID-19 pandemic impact on nations and states branding. Nations branding is very important for their global position. That is why there are numerous specific ways for state branding: film industry, sports events, civil engineering ventures, cultural and public events, diplomacy, celebrities, public relations, tourism etc. In general, people know very little or nothing about individual nations and states, so sports and tourism, as globally popular advents, may represent extraordinary set for their promotion. Globalism is a process of whose activities no state or person is spared. It is followed with numerous advantages but with numerous menaces too. With one of them, the world is struggling these days – the COVID-19 pandemic. Sports events all around the world are postponed or canceled in an effort to stop the virus from spreading. Pandemic and counties lockdowns almost killed global tourism.

The results of this study showed that most popular tools are Web 2.0 (social networking sites, blogs, wikis, folksonomies, video sharing sites, hosted services, web applications, and mashups). This is one of way to help to professors to easily integrate technology into language class.Just like students in the general population, students at Faculty of Philosophy in Novi Sad vary greatly as individuals. Some programs require extended students' depth of knowledge in the content areas. Therefore, professors conducted research about the reasons for choosing of a specific program or tools. Alternative forms of responding and learning, such as using diagrams or tables, may help some students with different learning styles--better demonstrate what they know.

Abstract:
The possibilities of the documentary film to fix ethnological and ethnographic phenomena in all their audiovisual integrity contributed to the realization of this category of films right from the beginnings of non-fiction cinema. At the «Moldova-film» studio, despite the very vigilant ideological conditions of the totalitarian regime, especially when it came to the cultural heritage of the native people, our filmmakers released a series of films, dedicated to customs, rituals and traditions – important components of our national identity. This category of films has been talked about and written in some specialized studies. The cinematographic works “Trânta/Wrestling” (director Anatol Codru) and “Jocurile copilăriei noastre/The Games of our Childhood” (directors Vlad Druc, Mircea Chistrugă) serve as research topic for us. They are dedicated to popular sports games, which, besides being captivating manifestations that have survived through centuries until the present, are imposed in the context of national identity, but, through this prism, the respective works have not been researched yet.

Humpage, Sarah D. Benefits and Costs of Electronic Medical Records: The Experience of Mexico's Social Security Institute. Inter-American Development Bank, 2010. http://dx.doi.org/10.18235/0008829.

Abstract:
Electronic medical record (EMR) systems are increasingly used in developing countries to improve quality of care while increasing efficiency. There is little systematic evidence, however, regarding EMRs' benefits and costs. This case study documents the implementation and use of an EMR system at the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS). Three EMR systems are now in operation for primary care, outpatient and inpatient hospital care. The evidence suggests that the primary care system has improved efficiency of care delivery and human resources management, and may have decreased incidence of fraud. The hospital systems, however, have lower coverage and are less popular among staff. The greater success of the primary care system may be due to greater investment, a participatory development process, an open workplace culture, and software appropriately tailored to the workflow. Moving forward, efforts should be made to exploit data housed in EMRs for medical and policy research.
