Abstract:

Der Aufsatz untersucht Franz Kafkas Sprachmanagement bei der Produktion und Veröffentlichung literarischer Prosa vor dem Hintergrund der Normdivergenz im deutschen Sprachraum um 1910. Mit Referenz auf Ulrich Ammons Konzept des von Kodizes, Sprachexperten, Normautoritäten und Modellsprechern/-schreibern gebildeten sozialen Kräftefeldes, das eine Standardvarietät bestimmt, wird exemplarisch der Vorbildcharakter der reichsdeutschen Schriftnorm des Deutschen für Prager deutsche Schriftsteller mit überregionalen Publikationsambitionen gezeigt. Anhand dreier regional markierter sprachlicher Formen, die dem österreichischen (vergessen an + Akk.) oder dem Prager (paar ohne Artikel) Standard des Deutschen angehörten bzw. einen Grenzfall des österreichischen Standards darstellten (Subjunktion bis zum Ausdruck von Vorzeitigkeit), soll deutlich gemacht werden, dass sich Kafka zwar oft, jedoch nicht immer durch Hinweise befreundeter Sprachexperten oder editorische Eingriffe der reichsdeutschen Verlage, die seine Prosa herausgaben, zu künftiger Korrektur-Implementierung in seinem literarischen Deutsch veranlassen ließ.

Abstract:

Dieser Beitrag postuliert die Existenz einer regionalen Varietät der deutschen Standardsprache im Freistaat[1] Bayern. Sie ist konsequenterweise und um denkbare Missverständnisse und Fehldeutungen auszuschließen als bayerisches Standarddeutsch zu bezeichnen.[2] Dafür werden die extralinguistischen Voraussetzungen genannt, vor allem jene historischer und administrativ-institutioneller Natur, ihre markantesten sprachlichen Merkmale vorgestellt und schließlich die im allgemeinen gesellschaftspolitischen und wissenschaftlich-varietätenlinguistischen Diskurs bestehenden Erschwernisse diskutiert, die einer breiteren Akzeptanz von bayerischem Standarddeutsch als regionaler Hochsprachvarietät neben vergleichsweise gut etablierten Varietäten wie österreichisches Deutsch oder wie Schweizerhochdeutsch entgegenstehen. Dies erfolgt im Sinne der Theorie des Sprachmanagements. [1] Der Begriff Freistaat, wie er innerhalb der Bundesrepublik Deutschland auch von den Ländern Sachsen und Thüringen verwendet wird, hat entgegen der weit verbreiteten volkstümlichen Auffassung, dass er Ausdruck einer besonderen, mit weiteren föderalen Rechten verbundenen staatsrechtlichen Position Bayerns innerhalb der Bundesrepublik sei (oder zumindest des politischen Anspruchs darauf), de facto keine solchen Konsequenzen. Er ist lediglich als historischer Namensteil zu verstehen, wie er am Ende des Ersten Weltkriegs mit dem Ende der Monarchien aufkam, gleichbedeutend mit Republik. [2] Begriffe wie bayerisches Deutsch oder bayerisches Hochdeutsch, wie sie durchaus zu hören und zu lesen sind, sind, wo sie vorkommen, nicht eindeutig der hochsprachlichen Ebene zuzuordnen und werden oft tatsächlich auch inhaltlich mit Nichtstandardsprache und Dialekt besetzt bzw. damit verbunden.

Abstract:

AbstractIn contrast to language shift, language maintenance appears to be a static phenomenon. Yet this article displays language maintenance as a process, applying the Language Management Theory. On the ground of a case study at a Catholic Sorbian parish in eastern Germany, the study shows that the Sorbian language is maintained in the church through numerous minute interventions at different levels. The findings suggest that the actual process of language maintenance and shift is much more complex than the conventional dualism of “top-down” vs. “bottom-up” assumes. It is argued that in order to get a more reliable understanding of how language maintenance and shift is attained, it is necessary to pay due attention to the interplay of various processes between and within simple and organized management.

Abstract:

This sociolinguistic diploma thesis focuses on the implementation of spelling reform in Austria. Practical research is based on the theory of language management. The thesis describes also developmental path to the spelling reform through the entire 20th century. The work aims to shed light on the issues and barriers associated with the implementation of spelling reform, i.e. the last phase of language management. Regarding methodology, it was conducted qualitative research using semi-structured interviews with participants in the process. Representatives of secondary schools and newspapers were chosen for the research. The obtained data is analyzed in comparison with the discourse concerning the spelling reform in the German-speaking area. Abstract:

This qualitative case study deals with management of multilingualism at the workplace in a multinational IT company in the Czech Republic. The multilingualism at the workplace was thoroughly described pursuant to using qualitatively won data (semi-structured interviews, ethnographic observations, additional written material) without making preliminary hypotheses. Thematically, this study aims at the employees'origin and their language knowledge, languages and their influence on job performance and hierarchical ranking, internal and external communication (language problems, communication channel, communication strategies), official language, interpreting and translating, language courses, multicultural milieu and identity.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with nowadays current issues: the communication of bicultural partnerships. The subject of investigation is primarily a process of communication, more precisely communication problems and causes of conflicts that may arise between partners with different backgrounds and native language. The basic question is what can cause these problems and what strategies the communication participants use to solve and avoid such problems. The theoretical basis of the thesis presents the Theory of Language Management. In the empirical part the obtained data is analyzed using both methods of quantitative form (questionnaire) and qualitative methods (research diary, participant observation and finally an interview).
