This thesis studies the alternating sum of cohomology groups of a Springer fiber (in characteristic 0), called a total Springer representation, as a representation of both the Weyl group and the stabilizer of the corresponding nilpotent element. For classical types, we present explicit formulas for the decomposition of total Springer representations into irreducible ones of the corresponding Weyl group using Kostka-Foulkes polynomials. Also, the character value at any element contained in the maximal parabolic subgroup(s) of type A is explicitly given in terms of Green polynomials. As a result, closed formulas for the Euler characteristic of Springer fibers are deduced. Our proof relies on analysis of geometry of Springer fibers and combinatorics of symmetric functions. Moreover, we provide formulas for the character value of a total Springer representation at any element in the stabilizer of the corresponding nilpotent element. For exceptional types, the character values of total Springer representations are completely known. Here, we only describe the decomposition of such representations into irreducible ones of stabilizers of corresponding nilpotent elements.

Abstract:

In 1976, Springer defined a correspondence making a link between the irreducible ordinary (characteristic zero) representations of a Weyl group and the geometry of the associated nilpotent variety. In this thesis, we define a modular Springer correspondence (in positive characteristic), and we show that the decomposition numbers of a Weyl group (for example the symmetric group) are particular cases of decomposition numbers for equivariant perverse sheaves on the nilpotent variety. We calculate explicitly the decomposition numbers associated to the regular and subregular classes, and to the minimal and trivial classes. We determine the correspondence explicitly in the case of the symmetric group, and show that James's row and column removal rule is a consequence of a smooth equivalence of nilpotent singularities obtained by Kraft and Procesi. The first chapter contains generalities about perverse sheaves with Z_l and F_l coefficients.

This thesis consists of two parts. In the first part, we prove the purity of affine Springer fibers for $\gl_{4}$ in the unramified case. More precisely, we have constructed a family of non standard affine pavings for the affine grassmannian, which induce an affine paving for the affine Springer fiber. In the second part, we introduce a notion of $\xi$-stability on the affine grassmannian $\xx$ for the group $G=\gl_{d}$, and we calculate the Poincaré polynomial of the quotient $\xx^{\xi}/T$ of the stable part $\xxs$ by the maximal torus $T$ by a process analogue to the Harder-Narasimhan reduction

This thesis deals with several combinatorial problems in representation theory. The first part of the thesis studies the combinatorics of affine Springer fibers of type A. In particular, we give an explicit description of irreducible components of Fl[subscript tS] and calculate the relative positions between two components. We also study the lowest two-sided Kazhdan-Lusztig cell and establish a connection with the affine Springer fibers, which is compatible with the affine matrix ball construction algorithm. The results also prove a special case of Lusztig's conjecture. The work in this part include joint work with Pablo Boixeda. In the second part, we define the combinatorial wall-crossing transformation and the generalized column regularization on partitions and prove that a certain composition of these two transformations has the same effect on the one-row partition. This result gives a special situation where column regularization, can be used to understand the complicated Mullineux map, and also proves a special case of Bezrukavnikov's conjecture. Furthermore, we prove a condition under which the two maps are exactly the same, generalizing the work of Bessenrodt, Olsson and Xu. The combinatorial constructions is related to the Iwahori-Hecke algebra and the global crystal basis of the basic [ ... ]-module and we provide several conjectures regarding the q-decomposition numbers and generalizations of results due to Fayers. This part is a joint work with Panagiotis Dimakis and Allen Wang.

Cette thèse commence par quatre chapitres qui sont consacrés aux rappels de la théorie des groupes algébriques semi-simples complexes, de leurs algèbres de Lie et des orbites nilpotentes sous l'action adjointe. Dans le chapitre 5, on étudie en détails les fibres de Springer généralisées. Dans le cadre général des algèbres de Lie semi-simples complexes, on obtient une borne supérieure pour leur dimension, généralisant un résultat de R. Steinberg et permettant ainsi de décrire certaines de leurs composantes irréductibles. Puis dans le cas des matrices de trace nulle, on détermine la fibre générale au dessus de la partie générique du lieu singulier. En s'inspirant d'un travail de H. Esnault, on en déduit, en particulier, que l'application de Springer généralisée associée à l'adhérence d'une classe de conjugaison nilpotente, se restreint en la résolution minimale des singularités génériques en codimension 2, retrouvant le fait que ces singularités sont simples de type A, un résultat de H. Kraft et C. Procesi. Dans le chapitre 6, pour la variété des drapeaux complets, les fibres de Springer sont formées des drapeaux fixés par les endomorphismes nilpotents. D'après N. Spaltenstein, les composantes irréductibles de ces fibres sont paramètrées par les tableaux de Young standardsq. Abstract:

1. Springer theory. For any projective map E ! V , Chriss and Ginzburg defined an algebra structure on the (Borel-Moore) homology Z := H_(E _V E), which we call Steinberg algebra. (Graded) Projective and simple Z-modules are controlled by the BBD-decomposition associated to E ! V . We restrict to collapsings of unions of homogeneous vector bundles over homogeneous spaces because we have the cellular fibration technique and for equivariant Borel-Moore homology we can use localization to torus-fixed points. Examples of Steinberg algebras include group rings of Weyl groups, Khovanov-Lauda-Rouquier algebras, nil Hecke algebras. 2. Steinberg algebras. We choose a class of Steinberg algebras and give generators and relations for them. This fails if the homogeneous spaces are partial and not complete flag varieties, we call this the parabolic case. 3. The parabolic case. In the parabolic cases, we realize the Steinberg algebra ZP as corner algebra in a Steinberg algebra ZB associated to Borel groups (this means ZP = eZBe for an idempotent element e 2 ZB). 4. Monoidal categories. We explain how to construct monoidal categories from families of collapsings of homogeneous bundles. 5. Construct collapsings. We construct collapsing maps over given loci which are resolutions of singularities or generic Galois coverings. For closures of homogeneous decomposition classes of the Kronecker quiver these maps are new. 6. Quiver flag varieties. Quiver flag varieties are the fibres of certain collapsings of homogeneous bundles. We investigate when quiver flag varieties have only finitely many orbits and we describe the category of flags of quiver representations as a _-filtered subcategory for the quasi-hereditary algebra KQ KAn. 7. An-equioriented. For the An-equioriented quiver we find a cell decompositions of the quiver flag varieties, which are parametrized by certain multi-tableaux.

AbstractSyftet med denna uppsats är att synliggöra förskollärarnas tankar och synsätt kring hur de uppfattar att de behandlar barnen ur ett genusperspektiv i konfliktsituationer. Undersökningen är baserad på en litteraturstudie och intervjuer av sex förskollärare. De är verksamma på tre olika småbarnsavdelningar i förskolan. Resultatet visar att de flesta förskollärarna anser sig behandla flickor och pojkar likadant i konfliktsituationer. Men de är överens om att hade de blivit observerade av en objektiv individ, hade kanske deras handlande visat sig vara annorlunda. Vår slutsats är att pedagoger måste bli medvetna om sitt förhållningssätt i konfliktsituationer ur ett genusperspektiv. För att de sedan ska kunna behandla barnen lika och inte beroende på vilket genus de har.

In this thesis, we will study three topics related to Springer theory (specifically, the geometry of the exotic nilpotent cone, and two-block Springer fibers), and stability conditions for category 0. In the first chapter, we will be studying the geometry of the exotic nilpotent cone (which is a variant of the nilpotent cone in type C introduced by Kato). Bezrukavnikov has established a bijection between A+, the dominant weights for an arbitrary simple algebraic group H, and 0, the set of pairs consisting of a nilpotent orbit and a finite-dimensional irreducible representation of the isotropy group of the orbit (as originally conjectured by Lusztig and Vogan). Here we prove an analogous statement for the exotic nilpotent cone. In the second chapter (which is based on joint work with Rina Anno), we study the exotic t-structure for a two-block Springer fibre (i.e. for a nilpotent matrix of type (m + n, n) in type A). The exotic t-structure has been defined by Bezrukavnikov and Mirkovic for Springer theoretic varieties in order to study representations of Lie algebras in positive characteristic. Using techniques developed by Cautis and Kamnitzer, we show that the irreducible objects in the heart of the exotic t-structure are indexed by crossingless (m, m + 2n) matchings. We also show that the resulting Ext algebras resemble Khovanov's arc algebras (but placed on an annulus). In the third chapter, we study stability conditions on certain sub-quotients of category 0. Recently, Anno, Bezrukavnikov and Mirkovic have introduced the notion of a "real variation of stability conditions" (which are related to Bridgeland's stability conditions), and construct an example using categories of coherent sheaves on Springer fibers. Here we construct another example, by studying certain sub-quotients of category 0 with a fixed Gelfand-Kirillov dimension. We use the braid group action on the derived category of category 0, and certain leading coefficient polynomials coming from translation functors.

Abstract:

Bakgrund: Ett effektivt styrverktyg många organisationer använder sig av är belöningssystem, i syfte att motivera och behålla sina medarbetare. En ny generation, Generation Z är på väg att inta arbetsmarknaden, vilket innebär nya karaktärsdrag, egenskaper och attityder mot arbetet och arbetsplatsen. Det är således viktigt att organisationer tar hänsyn till Generation Zs styrkor och motivationsfaktorer, för att kunna styra och motivera dem till att uppnå organisationens mål och behålla dem i organisationen. Med omotiverade och missnöjda medarbetare kan organisationen öka sin personalomsättning, och därmed förlora viktig kunskap och kompetens, vilket utgör en stor kostnad för organisationen. En av de branscher svenska Generation Z kommer arbeta inom är bankbranschen och är den bransch den här studien har fokuserat på. Syfte: Studiens syfte är att bidra med en djupare kunskap och förståelse om vad som driver och motiverar svenska Generation Z i arbetslivet. Organisationer inom bankbranschen kan utifrån informationen i den här studien, utforma och anpassa sina belöningssystem för att på bästa sätt motivera Generation Z. Genom att lyckas med det, kan organisationer behålla Generation Z i företaget och därmed minska sin kostnad för personalomsättning. Teoretisk referensram: Studiens teori inleds med generationsteorin av Mannheim (1970) och en definition av Generation Z. Vidare presenteras två motivationsteorier: behovshierarkin av Maslow (1987) och tvåfaktorsteorin av Hertzberg et al. (1959), vilka underlättar förståelsen kring vad som skapar motivation. Avslutningsvis behandlas teorier om belöningssystem, finansiella och icke-finansiella belöningar. Metod: Studien utgår ifrån en fallstudiedesign som grundar sig på en kvantitativ enkätundersökning med individer som ingår i Generation Z och som studerade någon form av ekonomi på högskolenivå. Enkätundersökningen kompletterades med fyra kvalitativa intervjuer med individer inom Generation Z, som arbetade inom bankbranschen. De två insamlingsmetoderna utgjorde tillsammans en triangulering. Slutsatser: De faktorer som är mest motiverande i ett belöningssystem för Generation Z är de icke-finansiella belöningarna: karriärmässig utveckling, kompetensutveckling och inflytande över arbetsuppgifter. Dessutom ansågs anställningstrygghet, uppmärksamhet från chefer och bra relation till kollegor som viktiga parametrar för att stanna på en arbetsplats.
Background: To motivate and retain employees, reward systems are used in many organizations as an effective management tool. A new generation, Generation Z is about to enter the labor market, which means new traits, characteristics and attitudes towards work and the workplace. It is therefore important that organizations take Generations Z’s strengths and motivational factors into account, in order to guide and motivate them to achieve the organization’s goals and keep them in the organization. With unmotivated and dissatisfied employees, organizations can lose important skills and increase their labor turnover, which is a huge expense for organizations. One industry that Swedish Generation Z will be working within is the banking industry, which is the industry this study will focus on. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to contribute with a deeper knowledge and understanding of what motivates Swedish Generation Z in working life. Organizations within the banking industry can, based on the information in this study, design and adapt their reward systems in the most efficient way to motivate Generation Z. By succeeding in this, organizations can keep Generation Z in the company and thereby reduce their labor turnover to the better. Theory: The theory of the study starts with the generation theory by Mannheim (1970) and a definition of Generation Z. Furthermore, two motivation theories, the hierarchy of needs by Maslow (1987) and the two-factor theory by Hertzberg et al. (1959) which facilitates the understanding of what creates motivation. Finally, theories of reward systems, financial and non-financial rewards are discussed. Method: This study is based on a case study performed as a quantitative survey with individuals within Generation Z, who studied some form of economics at the university level. The survey was supplemented by four qualitative interviews with individuals within Generation Z, who worked in the banking industry. The two collection methods together constituted a triangulation. Conclusions: The factors that are the most motivating in a Generation Z reward system are the non-financial rewards: career development, skills development, and influence over tasks. In addition, job security, attention from managers and a good relationship with colleagues were considered important parameters for staying in a workplace.

Abstract:

La thèse consiste de deux parties. Dans la première partie, on montre la pureté des fibres de Springer affines pour $\gl_{4}$ dans le cas non-ramifié. Plus précisément, on construit une famille de pavages non standard en espaces affines de la grassmannienne affine, qui induisent des pavages en espaces affines de la fibre de Springer affine. Dans la deuxième partie, on introduit une notion de $\xi$-stabilité sur la grassmannienne affine $\xx$ pour le groupe $\gl_{d}$, et on calcule le polynôme de Poincaré du quotient $\xx^{\xi}/T$ de la partie $\xi$-stable $\xxs$ par le tore maximal $T$ par une processus analogue de la réduction de Harder-Narasimhan.

O presente trabalho buscou conhecer os elementos de gestão que levam uma empresa ao alto desempenho. Tendo como ponto de partida estudos feitos no exterior, obteve-se onze elementos que foram avaliados por executivos experientes. Esses elementos são: Liderança, Valorização das Pessoas, Estratégia, Cultura, Viés para a Ação, Estrutura, Orientação ao Valor, Inovação, Parcerias, Foco no Cliente e Processos. Em paralelo a isto, considerando um segmento composto pelas 500 maiores empresas brasileiras, ao longo do período de 1995 a 2002, foi realizada uma triagem com base em critérios que resultou em apenas 59 empresas de alto desempenho, das quais oito com sede no Estado do Rio Grande do Sul, dessas foi escolhida a Springer Carrier para a execução de um estudo de caso que também confirmou os onze elementos de gestão encontrados que, na análise seguinte, verificou-se que poderiam ser colocados num espaço delimitado por três grandes eixos: cultura, pessoas e sistemas gerenciais. O alinhamento desses eixos com os elementos de gestão é, que, então, poderá gerar o alto desempenho. Os três eixos receberam o nome de raízes para o alto desempenho.

Abstract:

Med anledning av publicerade rapporter, studier och tidningsartiklar om ökad stress på förskolan, hos såväl barn som pedagoger, riktar denna studie sitt fokus mot barns upplevelse av stress på förskolan. Syftet med studien är att undersöka om barnen upplever stress på förskolan, hur de i så fall beskriver denna, hur de hanterar den uppkomna stressen och vad som påverkar deras upplevelser. Studien utgår från en kvalitativ metod med fokus på intervjuer av barn, såväl enskilt som i grupp och totalt sex barn har deltagit. Studien visar att barn på ett realistiskt sätt kan beskriva såväl begreppet stress som reaktioner på densamma. Deras egna erfarenheter är kopplade till såväl privatlivet som till förskolans verksamhet. Den stress som barnen upplever i förskolan kan kopplas till olika faktorer, bland annat förskolans miljö, lokaler, ljudnivå och känslan av att hinna först till den bästa cykeln. Vidare visar studien att den stress som uppkommer på förskolan, hanteras av barnen med hjälp av relationer till andra barn och pedagoger samt med hjälp av olika copingstrategier och resurser.
Due to published reports, studies and newspaper articles about increased stress at preschool, for both children and educators, this study focuses on children's experience of stress at preschool. The purpose of the study is to investigate whether the children experience stress at the preschool, how they describe this, how they handle the stress and what affects their experiences. The study is based on a qualitative method focusing on interviews of children, individually as well as in groups and a total of six children have participated. The study shows that children in a realistic way can describe both the concept of stress and the responses to it. Their own experiences are linked to both private and preschool activities. The stress the children experience in preschool can be linked to various factors, including the environment, premises, noise level at the preschool and the feeling of hurry to the best bike. Furthermore, the study shows that the stress that occurs at preschool is handled by the children through relationships with other children and educators as well as through different coping strategies and resources.

On appelle fibre de Springer la variété des drapeaux stables par un endomorphisme nilpotent. Nous étudions cette variété et ses composantes irréductibles. Les points fixes d’un tore sur cette variété sont paramétrés par un ensemble de tableaux dits lignes-standards. Nous construisons une décomposition en cellules de la variété naturellement paramétrée par les tableaux lignes-standards, au sens où chaque cellule contient un point fixe, et dont la codimension des cellules est analogue une longueur de Bruhat. Cela permet un calcul pratique des nombres de Betti. Lorsque l’endomorphisme nilpotent est de type crochet, deux-lignes ou deux-colonnes, nous définissons une notion de constructibilité pour les tableaux lignes-standards qui permet de décrire les points fixes des composantes. Nous déduisons un calcul de la dimension d’une intersection finie de composantes et, dans le cas deux colonnes, un critère de singularité
The variety of flags which are stable by a nilpotent endomorphism is called Springer fiber. We study this variety and its irreducible components. The fixed points of a torus on this variety are parameterized by a set of tableaux said row-standard. We construct a cell decomposition of the variety which is naturally parameterized by the row-standard tableaux, since each cell contains one fixed point, and such that the codimension of cells is analogous to a Bruhat length. This allows a handy calculation of the Betti numbers. When the nilpotent endomorphism is of hook, two-rows or two-columns type, we define a notion of constructibility for the row-standard tableaux which allows to describe the fixed points of the components. We deduce a calculation of the dimension of a finite intersection of components and, in the two-columns case, a criterion of singularity

Let $G$ be a simple linear algebraic group over the algebraically closed field $k$. Assume $p$ = char $k$ > 0 is good for $G$ and that $G$ is defined and split over the prime field $\char{bbold10}{0x46}_p$. For a power $q$ of $p$, we write $G(q)$ for the Chevalley group consisting of the $\char{bbold10}{0x46}_q$-rational points of $G$. Let $F : G \rightarrow G$ be the standard Frobenius morphism such that $G^F$= $G(q)$. Let $B$ be an $F$-stable Borel subgroup of $G$; write $U$ for the unipotent radical of $B$ and $\char{eufm10}{0x75}$ for its Lie algebra. We note that $U$ and $\char{eufm10}{0x75}$ are $F$-stable and that $U(q)$ is a Sylow $p$-subgroup of $G(q)$. We study the adjoint orbits of $U$ and show that the conjugacy classes of $U(q)$ are in correspondence with the $F$-stable adjoint orbits of $U$. This allows us to deduce results about the conjugacy classes of $U(q)$. We are also interested in the adjoint orbits of $B$ in $\char{eufm10}{0x75}$ and the $B(q)$-conjugacy classes in $U(q)$. In particular, we consider the question of when $B$ acts on a $B$-submodule of $\char{eufm10}{0x75}$ with a Zariski dense orbit. For our study of the adjoint orbits of $U$ we require the existence of $B$-equivariant isomorphisms of varieties $U/M \rightarrow$ $\char{eufm10}{0x75}$/$\char{eufm10}{0x6d}$, where $M$ is a unipotent normal subgroup of $B$ and $\char{eufm10}{0x6d}$ = Lie$M$. We define relative Springer isomorphisms which are certain maps of the above form and prove that they exist for all $M$.

This thesis deals with the connections of Geometry and Representation Theory. In particular we study the representation theory of small quantum groups and Frobenius kernels and the geometry of an equivalued affine Springer fiber Fl[subscript ts] for s a regular semisimple element. In Chapter 2 we relate the center of the small quantum group with the cohomology of the above affine Springer fiber. This includes joint work with Bezrukavnikov, Shan and Vaserot. In Chapter 3 we study the geometry of the affine Springer fiber and in particular understand the fixed points of a torus action contained in each component. In Chapter 4 we further have a collection of algebraic results on the representation theory of Frobenius kernels. In particular we state some results pointing towards some construction of certain partial Verma functors and we compute this in the case of SL₂. We also compute the center of Frobenius kernels in the case of SL₂ and state a conjecture on a possible inductive construction of the general center.

Abstract:

Problem: Vilka tillväxtstrategier ligger till grund för snabbt växande gasellföretag och kan likheter identifieras i strategiimplementeringen?

Syfte: Syftet med denna studie är att identifiera om gasellföretag i Umeå har liknande tillväxtstrategier för att uppnå sin snabba framgång. Genom att identifiera och kartlägga företag i Umeå som kategoriseras som gasellföretag vill vi få en ökad inblick och förståelse kring vilka strategier som ligger till grund för den snabba tillväxten samt vilken påverkan ledaren har.

Teori: Vi har som utgångspunkt i vår teoretiska referensram använt oss utav Johan Wiklunds teoretiska tillväxtmodell som består utav fem olika variabler som skapar tillväxt inom ett företag; resurs, kompetens, motivation, miljö och strategi. Till denna modell har vi även inkluderat ledarskap eftersom vi anser att ledarskapet inom ett företag påverkar individerna på en arbetsplats, vilket tillsammans påverkar tillväxten och strategin. Med denna modell som utgångspunkt har vi valt att angripa vårt problem med olika teorier knutna till de ovan nämnda variablerna.

Metod: Vi har använt oss av en kvalitativ undersökningsmetod för vår studie. Vi har i vår studie valt att utgå ifrån teorier för att ha dessa som utgångsmaterial då vi genomför vår empiriska studie för att sedan i analysen av empirin koppla verkligheten mot teorierna. Detta är i enighet med det deduktiva angreppssättet, vilket vi även har valt som angreppssätt. Vår undersökningsmetod kan klassificeras som deskriptiv då vi vill beskriva förhållanden mellan olika företags implementering av strategi och detta kommer vi att göra med hjälp av modeller vilket är i enighet med den undersökningsmetod som vi valt.

Empiri: Vi har intervjuat fem olika gasellföretag lokaliserade i Umeå. Vi har valt att presentera vårt empiriska material genom att dela upp kapitlet på likartat vis som teorikapitlet samt vår intervjuguide. Detta för att underlätta förståelsen och läsningen för läsaren, samt knyta ihop alla delarna på ett överskådligt sätt. Vi har även valt att presentera företagens svar samlat under de ställda frågorna eftersom att vi anser att det blir enklare för läsaren att jämföra de olika svaren.

Resultat: Studien visar att gasellföretagen har haft marknadspenetration eller diversifiering som tillväxtstrategi och då genom antingen en fokuserad eller differentierad strategi. De likheter som vi har identifierat när det handlar om strategiimplementeringen är att ledarskap i gasellföretagen bottnar väldigt mycket i ett tidigare eller nutida idrottsintresse. Gasellföretagen ser sin personal som främsta resurser och de anser även att det är viktigt att upprätthålla ett gott anseende för att företagets resurser och kompetens ska verka på ett optimalt sätt. Frihet under ansvar är ett uttryck som genomsyrar gasellföretagens kultur, vilket har stor påverkan på anställda. Drivkrafterna som påverkar gasellföretagen att uppnå framgång och exceptionell tillväxt kan sammanfattningsvis beskrivas som ambition, initiativ, frihet och uthållighet.
