ABSTRACT In this paper, we apply adaptive control method to derive new results for the global chaos synchronization of identical Sprott J systems (Sprott, 1994), identical Sprott K systems (Sprott, 1994) and non-identical Sprott J and K systems. Our results are derived for the general case when the parameters of both master and slave systems are unknown and adaptive synchronizing schemes have been derived using the estimates of parameters for both master and slave systems. This paper investigates the problem of designing an adaptive controller and synchronizer for the new Sprott-K chaotic system (1994), when the system parameters are unknown. Sprott-K system is one of the important models of 3-dimensional chaotic systems. First, we construct an adaptive controller to stabilize the Sprott-K chaotic system to its unstable equilibrium at the origin. Then we construct an adaptive synchronizer to achieve global chaos synchronization of the identical Sprott-K chaotic systems with unknown parameters. Abstract This communication develops an adaptive scheme for control and synchronization of Sprott J system with fully unknown parameters. The scheme provides an elegant strategy of designing estimators for identification of the unknown parameters of the underlying dynamical system. Adaptive control and update laws are proposed to globally stabilize the chaotic Sprott J system. A pair of identical Sprott J systems with un- known parameters are globally synchronized with the help of adaptive control and parameter update laws. Interest in studies on fractional calculus and its applications has greatly increased in recent years. Fractional-order analysis has the potential to enhance the dynamic structure of chaotic systems. This study presents the implementation of a lower-order fractional electronic circuit using standard components for the Sprott K system. To our knowledge, there are no chaotic circuit realizations in the literature where the value of a fractional-order parameter is approximately 0.8, making this study pioneering in this aspect. Additionally, various numerical analyses of the system are conducted,
