Abstract:
There is no question that business, education, and all fields of science have come to rely heavily on the computer. This dependence has become so great that it is no longer possible to understand social and health science research without substantial knowledge of statistics and without at least some rudimentary understanding of statistical software. The number and types of statistical software packages that are available continue to grow each year. In this paper we have chosen to work with SPSS, or the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. SPSS was chosen because of its popularity within both academic and business circles, making it the most widely used package of its type. SPSS is also a versatile package that allows many different types of analyses. transformations, and forms of output - in short, it will more than adequately serve our purposes. The SPSS software package is continually being updated and improved, and so with each major revision comes a new version of that package. In this paper, we will describe and use the most recent version of SPSS, called SPSS for Windows, in order to use this text for data analysis, your must have access to the SPSS for Windows software package. The capability of SPSS is truly astounding. The package enables you to obtain statistics ranging from simple descriptive numbers to complex analyses of multivariate matrices. You can plot the data in histograms, scatterplots, and other ways. You can combine files, split files, and sort files. You can modify existing variables and create new ones. In short, you can do just about anything you'd ever want with a set of data using this software package. A number of specific SPSS procedures are relevant to the kinds of statistical analyses covered in an introductory level statistics or research methods course typically found in the social and health sciences, natural sciences, or business. Yet, we will touch on just a fraction of the many things that SPSS can do. Our aim is to help то become familiar with SPSS, and we hope that this introduction will both reinforce our understanding of statistics and lead us to see what a powerful tool SPSS is, how it can actually help you better understand your data, how it can enable you to test hypotheses that were once too difficult to consider, and how it can save our incredible amounts of time as well as reduce the likelihood of making errors in data analyses. We show how to create a data file and generate an output file. We also discuss how to name and save the different types of files created in the three main SPSS windows. This paper will present a software presentation from a survey on socio-economic and environmental research.

Abstract:
The study revealed that awareness and acceptance of scholarly databases by undergraduates is still relatively low in Nigeria. Three hundred questionnaires were distributed exploring perceptions of students. Descriptive analysis, one-way ANOVA, and cross-tabulation were carried out in the analysis of data using statistical package for social science (SPSS) software. Science Direct was revealed to be the preferred scholarly database of students with the highest satisfaction level. Findings showed that Agora and Teal were used by agricultural sciences while JSTOR and Ebrary were used more by business and social sciences. However, factors that limited acceptance were challenges of information retrieval skills and student preferred interest for general search engines persist. Undergraduate students were also noted to be more interested in the relevance of the information source than the currency and authority and accuracy of the source. There is a need to improve the information literacy skills and the information retrieval skills of undergraduate students.

Abstract:
Due to the unpredictable interruptions within the functions of the human brain, disturbance occurs and it affects the behavior of the human and is equally laid low with the frequent occurrence termed as seizures. Therefore, the proposed system detects the seizure using machine learning algorithms. The electroencephalogram (EEG) contains information of the brain to detect the seizure. The objective is to evaluate the performance of machine learning classifiers K-nearest neighbors (KNN), artificial neural network (ANN), support vector machine (SVM) and principal component analysis (PCA) by comparing the accuracy of the classifier. This work uses total of 11,500 EEG samples from the UCI machine learning repository. The seizure detection was done in two ways. First method, features extracted from the EEG signal and classification techniques are done to classify the seizure. The second method uses the principal component analysis algorithm to improve the significant selections of features from the dataset. The outcomes are analyzed using the statistical package for the social science (SPSS) tools. ANN with extracted functions achieved 96% of accuracy and significant efficiency of (p less than 0.05) in comparison with different machine learning classifiers. It would be prudent to conclude that the ANN demonstrated the best accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity.

Abstract:
Artificial intelligence (AI) is simulating human intelligence processes by machines and software simulators to help humans in making accurate, informed, and fast decisions based on data analysis. The medical field can make use of such AI simulators because medical data records are enormous with many overlapping parameters. Using in-depth classification techniques and data analysis can be the first step in identifying and reducing the risk factors. In this research, we are evaluating a dataset of cardiovascular abnormalities affecting a group of potential patients. We aim to employ the help of AI simulators such as Weka to understand the effect of each parameter on the risk of suffering from cardiovascular disease (CVD). We are utilizing seven classes, such as baseline accuracy, naïve Bayes, k-nearest neighbor, decision tree, support vector machine, linear regression, and artificial neural network multilayer perceptron. The classifiers are assisted by a correlation-based filter to select the most influential attributes that may have an impact on obtaining a higher classification accuracy. Analysis of the results based on sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and precision results from Weka and Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) is illustrated. A decision tree method (J48) demonstrated its ability to classify CVD cases with high accuracy 95.76%.

However, it has relatively low sensitivity and time consuming. In contrast, chest computed tomography (CT) has high sensitivity and achieves quick results. It may, therefore, play a critical role in screening and diagnosing COVID-19. A cross-sectional study was done in 212 patients with confirmed cases and patients under surveillance for COVID-19 tested for RT-PCR and chest CT scan. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Version 23 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). AIM: We aim to investigate the diagnostic value of chest CT in correlation to RT-PCR in Indonesia. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was done in 212 patients with confirmed cases and patients under surveillance for COVID-19 tested for RT-PCR and chest CT scan. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS Version 23 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, IBM Corp., Armonk, NY, USA). RESULTS: From a total of 212 patients, 92% of them were diagnosed as confirmed cases of COVID-19. It was found that the sensitivity of CT scan for COVID-19 patients was 72.3% (65.5% and 78.5%) with positive predictive value (PPV) of 93.9% (90.9% and 96.0%) and the sensitivity and PPV improve in symptomatic patients. Typical chest CT scan lesions were 8.0 times which were more likely (3.9–16.4; p <0.001) to be detected in symptomatic patients while patients with severe CT scan findings were 4.4 times more likely (3.0–6.5; p <0.001) to be admitted to the intensive care unit. CONCLUSION: A high PPV suggests that a chest CT scan can detect COVID-19 lesions, but the absence of the lesions would not exclude the disease’s presence.
