The objective of this study was to evaluate the incubated egg and nurturing squab numbers on breeding pigeon behaviour and performance. Fifteen pairs of mature Egyptian Baladi Pigeons (12-18 months) were divided into 3 groups (one pair x 5 replicates for each group). Group1 (G1): each pair incubated one egg and reared one squab, Group2 (G2): parents incubated 2 eggs and reared 2 squabs and Group3 (G3): incubated 3eggs and reared 3 squabs. Maintenance and reproductive behaviour were recorded for each pair of parents using a digital camera and then analysed. In addition, the performance of adult

Pigeon squabs completely depend on their parents for care and nourishment. The loss of one or both parents affects squabs’ successful fledging. This study was carried out on young squabs to compare the effect of pigeon parent sex and different fostering methods on squab welfare (behavior and growth performance). Two experiments were carried out. In the first experiment, the squabs were divided into three groups. The weather and vast areas of crop fields along with housing premises of Bangladesh are suitable for pigeon farming. The experiment was conducted to evaluate the characteristics of eggs and serum electrolyte concentration of Gola, Giribaz and Ghiachundi pigeon squabs. Three pairs of each breed were reared in the cage with commercial feed and water. After laying eggs, the length and width of eggs were recorded. After hatching of eggs, eggshell thickness was recorded. The thickness of the eggshell was 0.15±0.01 mm, 0.15±0.01 mm, 0.15±0.00 mm for Gola, Giribaz and Ghiachundi breeds respectively.

Squab deaths in most pigeon farms were very common. Out of 10 diseases, 60% occurred by feed serving, 10% were both for microbial and genetical causes and 20% for the parents’ behaviour of those squabs. If a rearer could provide balanced diet in various stages and observed pigeons’ behaviour deeply it would possible to overcome above mentioned problems/diseases. In Bangladesh remarkable squab deaths were found in most pigeon farms. Within these very common was embryonic death within the egg. Abstract Pigeons have been the subject of research in the past but the knowledge gained is incomplete and must be extended. Pigeon meat can be a valuable and inclusive part of a person’s diet because of its relatively high protein content and low cholesterol. The objectives of the study were to provide information about differences in body weight, carcass characteristics, chemical composition, color attributes and physio-chemical parameters of three varieties (white, reddish grey and mixed) of indigenous pigeon of Bangladesh. Moreover, it was conducted to figure out if it meets the expectation

Abstract:
The improvements in muscle growth rate and meat quality are the major breeding aims in pigeon industry. Liver and muscle are recognized as important sites for fatty acid metabolism; understanding the role of specific transcripts in the breast muscle and liver might lead to the elucidation of interrelated biological processes. In this study, RNA-Sequencing (RNA-Seq) was applied to compare the transcriptomes of breast muscle and liver tissues among pigeons at five developmental periods (0, 1, 2, 3, 4 weeks post-hatching) to identify candidate genes related to muscle growth and lipid metabolism.
