In 1609 Peter Korkonos, the new rector (parish priest) of the St. Peter Church in Vilnius wrote an inventory of this church. It’s the oldest inventory of the church we know today. Two fragments of this document have been found in the collections of the Archive of Vilnius Archdiocese and The Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. In this edition these two fragments of the historical source have been combined and commented. Particular attention has been paid to the problem of books, which were the property of the church at this time. The most relevant facts from the history of St. Pete

Pursuant to a 2013 faculty, the interior of this mediaeval church was painted in 2014. Instead of the specified limewash paint, the architect selected an alternative paint, which proved to be inappropriate: it was impermeable, damaging the wall fabric and causing the paint to flake off. Following a consistory court hearing in 2017 (reported at [2017] ECC SEI 6), the PCC was ordered to remove the paint, and repaint using the originally specified limewash, the cost to be borne by the architect.

Abstract New Spanish composers created a unique repertory of music for St. Peter, the founder of the Roman church. In these works, Peter assumes the role of a divine chapel master whose counterpoint regulates the harmony of creation, as symbolized by Neoplatonic literary conceits and musical gestures derived from textual references to solfège. The chapter argues that Petrine works by Manuel de Sumaya, Ignacio Jerusalem, and others celebrate the secular church itself, in contrast to the religious orders, within an erudite culture with local roots in the music of Francisco López Capillas, the li

Just over a mile up-river was Westminster, where the abbey church of St Peter, dissolved at the Reformation, had been re-established in I 560 as a ‘Royal Peculiar’ with Dean and Chapter and a lavish choral and educational foundation. A few hundred yards to the north was the palace of Westminster, where the king had his court and Chapel Royal.
