Abstract:
The article investigates an important stage in the development of Azerbaijan bibliography at the end of XIX - the beginning of XX century. It was a period of rapid development of book publishing, periodicals issuing, development of scientific and professional societies in Azerbaijan. All that processes were accompanied by the development of bibliographic activities. In the latter half of the XIX century there took place intensive accumulation of Oriental manuscripts and printed sources in the Russian cultural centers, particularly in St. Peterburg, Moscow and Kazan. A lot of valuable culture and art objects came to Russia from Azerbaijan. Despite the significant advance in the development of bibliographic resources of Azerbaijan, the work on their formation did not become a systematic activity. It was caused primarily by the lack of state policy in that area. There was also lack of the potential personnel, engaged in library and bibliografic activities at the professional level.

Abstract:
The thesis aims to study the Moscow city text, its comparative analysis and the dialogue with the St. Petersburg text, and the importance of both texts in the process of formation of Russian cultural identity. The survey methodology is based on the concept of urban text drawn up by prominent scholars of Tartu-Moscow Semiotic School, such as Yuri Lotamn, Vladimir Toporov, among others. The work presented is comprised of three parts: The first chapter presents the theoretical analysis of concepts of \"text\" and \"city\" and its application to Moscow; The second chapter represents a cultural-historical analysis of the formation process of the Moscow text since the founding of the city until the 21st century, the reflection of Moscow text in the culture and, mostly in the Russian literature; The third part is composed of translations of some Russian writers´ essays of the 19th century with a description of the controversial relations between Moscow and St. Petersburg. The conclusion of this research consists of the thesis that both Moscow text and its opposition to the St. Petersburg text are formed as a result of a proper bipolarity not only of the Russian culture, but of the whole mankind.

Abstract:
This chapter focuses on Viktor Kel'ner's biography of M. M. Vinaver. Kel'ner makes several strategic choices that frame the biography. First and foremost is the focus on Vinaver and Russian society. Kel'ner's approach emerges from his belief that Vinaver's main contribution was the idea, in theory and praxis, that only by embracing Russian liberalism would Jews gain their rights. This viewpoint became a fundamental truth for Vinaver and was realized in his professional, political, and personal life, as well as in his lifelong attachment to the Kadet Party and its ideals. Fittingly, the biography hones in on Vinaver in Russian and Russian Jewish political life. His broad involvement in Jewish cultural and historical activities receives less attention. Ultimately, the book's focus on the Russian context offers a wide lens on the Russian Jewish intelligentsia as a whole.
