Stable isotope probing (SIP) is an established technique that can be applied to identify the metabolically active micro-organisms within a microbial population. No presente trabalho foi sintetizada a 13CO(15NH2)2, enriquecida em 13C e/ou 15N, a partir da reação entre 13CO, 15NH3, S e CH3OH (meio líquido), sob baixa pressão e temperatura, com simultânea produção de H2S. A reação ocorreu em reator de aço inoxidável, revestido internamente com politetrafluoretileno. Inicialmente, adicionou-se S no interior do reator. Na sequência, esse foi fechado e, sob pressão reduzida (10-3 MPa) e temperatura de 4 ºC, transferiu-se o CH3OH, H2S, 15NH3 e 13CO. The caribou (Rangifer tarandus groenlandicus) on Southampton Island, Nunavut, Canada for the years 1998-2000 and 2004, 2005, were investigated using stable isotope analysis (SIA) of carbon (d 13C) and nitrogen (d 15N).
