Abstract:
Abstract West Africa is one of the regions the most concerned with structural food and nutrition security. Consequently, agricultural development pathways and scenarios are under high scientific and political scrutiny in this region. Rice, as a rapidly growing staple plays a key role in the West African diet representing close to 40% of the total volume of cereal consumed in the region. In the context of the 2008 food price crisis several West African countries have since proclaimed rice self-sufficiency as a target. Here, we show that rice yields tend to be, on average over the entire region,

An accurate representation of the spatial distribution of stable isotopes in modern precipitation is vital for interpreting hydrological and climatic processes. Considering the dominant impact of moisture sources in controlling water isotopes and deuterium excess, we conducted a meta-analysis of precipitation isotopes using instrumental data from 68 stations around China. The entire country is divided into five regions according to the major moisture sources: Region I (the westerlies domain), Region II (the arctic domain), Region III (the northeast domain), Region IV (the Pacific domain), and

With respect to the human tracking with multi-cameras in the video surveillance system, a human tracking method based on MSER (Maximally Stable Extremal Regions) was established. The approach transforms the human tracking into elliptic region matching. The method does elliptic region fitting to each MSER, and then selects the elliptic regions which meet some constraints. These selected elliptic regions are normalized to unity circular regions. The right matched elliptic regions are gotten by rotational invariant vectors calculation, histogram density estimation and weighted average distance ca

In air-saturated water and DO (dissolved oxygen) 400 ppb water at 623 K, Cr2O3 is oxidized and Cr(VI) ions are stable. In the deaerated solution, metal chromium is stable.
