Abstract:
In this study a two-part mixed probability density function was derived which described the relative changes in the Standard and Poor's 100 Stock Index over various intervals of time. The density function is a mixture of two different halves of normal distributions. Optimal values for the standard deviations for the two halves and the mean are given. Also, a general form of the function is given which uses linear regression models to estimate the standard deviations and the means. The density functions allow stock market participants trading index options and futures contracts on the S & P 100 Stock Index to determine probabilities of success or failure of trades involving price movements of certain magnitudes in given lengths of time.

Abstract:
The aim of my diploma thesis is to prepare documents for price calculation and determination of the common rent in the suburb of Brno - Žabovřesky. In this work, I used information from executed leases Realtors Matras&Matras & Real Estate Ltd. and Dvorak. Analysis of factors affecting price formation I have devoted the factors that I considered at that locality as valid for determining the price and verifying their influence on rental prices. I added my own factor into the monitored critical factors. This factor is noise. As the analysis results showed it was a major factor that significantly affects the final price of the lease. His inclusion among the decisive factors was correct. By setting standards and calculation of coefficients, I obtain results that helped determine the normal cost of rent and contributed to the view of the importance of determining the level of the individual factors to calculate the final rental price. Data collection, analysis and examination of the relationships between the key factors, I see as a guide for calculating the normal price, which will be used by districts and the real estate market.

Abstract:
This PhD thesis analyzes the current, by experts in minimum benchmark solved condition of valuation of damaged, unlicensed and unauthorized buildings, it defines the problematic status of the individual administrative areas where the expert report is the decisive evidence and it recommends suitable method of valuation of these buildings, so as to minimize the risk of bringing faulty expert opinion. The paper not only explains the basic concepts identified in the relevant legislation, but also systematically analyzes the possible ways of determining the usual price of mentioned buildings. Derived ways of valuation methods are validated on examples and evaluated. On the basis of this verification there is a recommended procedure to determine the usual price of these types of buildings, ie. the expert standard.

In the current context of globalisation and development of international investment market along with increasing influence of European Union legislation and activities of professional organisations, there is an urgent need for standardisation and harmonisation of not only valuation procedures but also individual terms, definitions, approaches, methods and requirements for the qualification of valuers. This takes on special importance particularly in the field of real property valuation and market value („the usual price“ according to Czech law) assessment. At present there are three large international organisations contributing significantly to the development of this process through the development of their standards. The main objective of this thesis is standardisation and harmonisation of expert valuation procedure in establishing real property market value (the usual price), particularly in view of international valuation standards, namely IVS, EVS and the Red Book. To achieve this main goal it was necessary to clarify at first several related issues, as proper understanding of the background and context in particular is always an indispensable basis for successful harmonization process. The result of this work is thus both the design of a standard and harmonised procedure carried out by a qualified valuer in establishing the market value (the usual price), and the clarification of related issues, terms, definitions, methods and valuation approaches used in the Czech Republic and abroad, as well as the requirements imposed on the resulting report, etc.. The knowledge and information from this work will thus contribute to the development of the field of forensic engineering both in terms of theory, practice and teaching.

This PhD thesis analyzes the current situation in appraisals of technical infrastructure easements created by the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic in the process of transport infrastructure development. The thesis explains the basic concepts, identifies the relevant legisla-tion and examines the appraising methods used for these easements as described in the literature. It then discusses and critically assesses, based on existing legislation and best practices, the indi-vidual appraising approaches used in expert opinions prepared for the Road and Motorway Di-rectorate of the Czech Republic. Drawing on this assessment, it makes recommendations for a standardized approach for establishing the fair market value of easements and demonstrates its application on a model example.

Diploma thesis is about narrowband PLC communication standards. The theoretical part describes details of all available OFDM standards including G3-PLC, PRIME, IEEE-1901.2 and G.hnem. The practical part deals with PRIME and G3-PLC standards. In this part is also compared OFDM technology with system of single carrier frequency in environment with real interferences. The last part describes developement of two firmwares for PLC modems Texas Instruments TMDSPLCKIT-V3, which allow UART communication and remote data collection. Abstract:
This thesis discusses the interaction between inflation, living standards, and political change in Soviet/Russian history. It traces the establishment and evolution of the Soviet monetary system, inflationary episodes, and their consequences. The goal of this study is to show how inflation affects the lives of ordinary people and how it has contributed to larger changes in Soviet history. Sources include economic statistics and analysis from articles and monographs, as well as first-hand accounts from interviews and newspapers. The results show that inflation was a factor in both the rise and the fall of the Soviet Union. Russia's first hyperinflation (1917-1923) nearly destroyed the economy, and the Bolsheviks were forced to stabilize prices. The Soviet system of price controls prevented inflation, but it also created persistent shortages of food and consumer goods. Mikhail Gorbachev tried to alleviate these problems, but his efforts resulted instead in Russia's second hyperinflation (1992-1993).

Abstract:
Given the global food price spike experienced in 2007/8, the core question of this research is, ‘what was the impact of the rising food prices on household welfare in Zambia'? Taking an empirical approach and using micro-economic methods, four welfare outcomes are assessed: consumption, equality of income distribution, poverty and nutrition. The 2006 and 2010 cross-section household surveys - Living Conditions Monitoring Surveys (LCMS) - are primarily used to answer the question. The thesis first assesses the changes in consumption patterns across time, geographical locations and quintiles. The short-term distribution of income from the rise in prices is then analysed using non-parametric methods to show the likely winners and losers from the price spike and the subsequent impact on poverty. These results are supplemented by a supply response as an attempt to understand longer-term poverty effects. The final empirical exercise focuses on nutrition outcomes. The thesis confirms the hypothesis that on average, urban households may suffer a welfare loss but rural households may gain. In the case of maize grain, the results suggest that the highest gain may accrue to rural households clustered around the poverty line. Furthermore, the findings suggest that, while overall poverty may increase in the short-run, the long-run impacts of rising food prices (once supply response are accounted for) may lead to a marginal decline in poverty. Finally, we observe that the slight increase in income, from selling maize, among some rural households may not necessarily lead to an improvement in nutrition outcomes. In particular, while rural households exhibit a small net rise in income from an increase in maize prices, the impact on stunting levels among children below five years appears to be regressive in both urban and rural areas. The overall results of this research strengthen the case for contextual impact analysis of covariate shocks and also highlight the policy challenges arising from such conflicting results.

This paper extends the scope of Earnings per share ("EPS") studies by incorporating Bushman et al. (2004)'s conceptual framework of corporate transparency to illustrate how the disclosure requirement of an accounting rule governing EPS could have far-reaching effects on the information environment in US. Informed participants are having a keener edger over average investors in using EPS as a guide to investment value. EPS signals a summary measure of firm performance to market participants. The market reactions to EPS and change in per share earnings provide a distinct opportunity to gauge the informativeness of earnings. The information role will nevertheless derail whenever there is an equity change. The accounting rule stipulates the use of a theoretical construct, the weighted average number of shares, in the denominator for EPS, which the average investor is unable to interpret as the number of shares at the reporting date is the actual, not average number of shares. Relative to the actual-share EPS, the average-share EPS will either inflate or deflate the per share earnings. The informed investors, who can substitute actual number of shares for the theoretical construct, are hence bestowed by the accounting rule an information advantage over the average investors. Earnings response coefficient is significant with denominator of EPS substituted while the explanatory power of theoretical-denominator EPS abates when it is contemporary with the denominator substituted EPS. Financial analysts' expertise in the provision of idiosyncratic information to the market has been compromised by the average-share EPS, which is reflected heretofore in proforma earnings forecasts errors. Proforma earnings use a numerator different from accounting rules and to further temper the denominator with the actual number of shares will make pro-forma EPS forecast unintelligible to users. The unintended consequence of inflating or deflating the per share earnings misleads average investors in their decision-making process. Analysts should not issue proforma earnings forecast while researchers should abstain from using theoretical-denominator EPS for sample firms with equity change as their policy prescriptions may further aggravate the problem. A simple remedy to change the accounting rule, SFAS No. 128 is eminently anticipated, if not warranted.

Abstract:

Everyday thousands of nurses are rendering bedside nursing care in health care settings as a result they are exposed to blood, body fluids and sharp objects that are contaminated with Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. Therefore they are at risk of getting infected. In 1996, standard precautions were implemented by the Centre of Disease Control to reduce the risk of transmission of micro-organisms from any source of infection in the hospital. In the year 2008, the three tertiary hospitals together in the Western Cape reported that they had 733 needle prick injuries. Therefore the aim of the study was to determine if nurses comply with and have adequate knowledge of standard precautions. A non-experimental design and a self administered questionnaire were used to collect the data for the study. The study was done at Tygerberg Hospital and the participants (n=143) that were involved in the study were all nursing categories (professional, enrolled nurse and auxiliary nurse). Stratified random sampling was used to ensure that there was a representation of all the nurses working in the different modules at Tygerberg Hospital. Therefore three wards were randomly selected from each module and all the nurses on duty working in the three selected wards were given a questionnaire by the Assistant Director of the specific module. After the data was collected it was analysed through the statistical package for social sciences. The findings of the study showed that nurses have inadequate knowledge regarding standard precautions and the mean score of the nurses overall self reported compliance of standard precautions was 87.5%. The results also showed that when patients are HIV positive nurses intend to over comply the use of personal protective equipment. No association was found between the nurses&rsquo
knowledge and compliance regarding standard precautions. It is therefore important that every nurse should be educated about the basic principles of standard precautions and also the policies and protocols of infection control in order to prevent each nurse from getting infected. Training needs to be implemented starting in the wards through the unit manager to improve all the nurses&rsquo
knowledge and practice.

Poverty is currently wide spread in Georgia. This paper is dedicated to an analysis of the causes, the extent and the intensity of poverty in Georgia. With a strong focus on the period after Shevardnadze’s presidency, the paper shows how poverty has grown in the past 15 years. In spite of a rising per capita income, the variance within the distribution of income is also increasing. The widening gap between high and low incomes represents a danger for the Georgian society and is associated with high unemployment rates, a lack of education for entire societal strata and rising criminality. In addition, high inflation rates affect mainly low income groups. Apparently, the Rose Revolution of 2003 did not lead to an attenuation of poverty but rather intensified it.

Abstract:
The working hours, as a very important life part of most of the economically active people, are a significant indicator of the job market's flexibility. The first part of this thesis deals with the economic analysis of an individual person's time, forming of the labour supply and demand, and State's interference with job market. Afterwards follows the outline of the historical development of working hours, with the origins and progression of a regulation of this area. The third part is focusing on the legal form of working hours in the Czech Republic, including regulation of breaks, working hours' set out, privilege leave and special arrangements for a certain groups of employees. The next part analyses unusual working modes that are helping to create a more flexible job market and more job opportunities, such as part-time work or labour time account. The thesis includes a part where is being compared regulation of the working hours with the world, from the point of view of certain international institutions such as the World Bank. This essay highlights The Happy Prince’s advantageous use of conventions of the fairy tale genre to stress critical issues of the Victorian period: the challenge of the established Christian socio-moral order, the rising of the bourgeois industrial society, and the advent of aestheticism as a response. Using the close reading technique supported by the Victorian socio-historical background, the analysis establishes that the criticism proceeds by double associations. Firstly, the clear structure of the tale, enriched by a plethora of aesthetical features and suitable narrative processes, is propitious for children’s access to a message calling for more human generosity. Meanwhile, subtle analogies to the Christian imagery appear blurred by paradoxical elements. This prevents a definite religious interpretation from adults to which those messages are intended. Secondly, in connection with aestheticism, a social and moral criticism takes the form of a satire of the utilitarian vision of the bourgeoisie and a questioning of the common Victorian beliefs: the link between beauty and moral integrity, as well as the moral code of femininity. Finally, the utilitarian discourse and the disapproval of the research for pleasure from beauty merging with a hedonist vision, advocate an “art for art’s sake” free of these respective considerations.

The thesis titled "Occupational safety and health" is focused on summarizing the current legal regulations that impose rights and obligations on employers and employees in the field of occupational health and safety. Introductory chapter emphasizes the understanding of the importance and function of safety aspects, historical context and role of the state. In the crucial second chapter the Czech legal regulations are analyzed in detail and the basic concepts of this issue (prevention of risk, work categorization, training...) are characterized. Following the legislation chapter three introduces options above standard approaches, by which the employer can be inspired or directly certified in task of the safety system solution. In the next chapter the analysis of the current legislation of "Occupational Services" is presented and also compared with the previous one. The theoretical part is concluded with an article concerning work accidents and occupational diseases, in which are also defined possibilities of accident insurance. In the case study, I focused on the application of the legal regulations for a particular employer, evaluation of the current state and the proposal for possible remedy measurements.

Le controle de gestion bancaire se heurte a un probleme fondamental : le traitement des depenses indirectes de fonctionnement et l'evaluation concomitante du cout de chaque operation administrative, communement designe sous le vocable cout operatoire. Or, s'agissant pour l'eseentiel de couts communs et de couts joints, l'interconnexion des schemas de production implique une vision transversale et contingente de la structure organisationnelle. Dans ce contexte, la variete des approches theoriques de la repartition des charges indirectes devrait offrir, a priori, un cadre d'analyse judicieux. Cependant, toutes ont pour preoccupation commune de concevoir les couts a partir d'un facteur unique. Or, si l'on s'interesse aux couts operatoires, on peut verifier que le processus de consommation de ressources n'est pas assujetti a un inducteur de cout exclusif, mais au contraire a tout un fasceau de criteres. Aussi, avonsnous considere un cout operatoire optimal a partir du moment ou une relation stable pouvait etre etablie entre le niveau d'imput et celui d'ouput. En fondant notre demonstration sur l'analyse des charges de personnel constatees pour 43 guichets d'agences bancaires, cette these permet d'identifier la fonction de consommation de ressources qui relie les imputs aux outputs. De cette facon, nous etablissons que dans un secteur de services tel que la banque, le modele de calcul assis sur la recherche de la cause principale de la consommation de couts n'est pas toujours le plus pertinent. Effectivement, ce travail verifie l'optimalite des couts operatoires lorsque le processus de production est considere a l'echelle d'une agence. A contratio, la mouvante permanente du systeme productif bancaire ne permet pas, localement, la constitution de normes operatoires stables
Operating costs in banking can be viewed according to the paradigm common costsjoint costs. Under these conditions, interconnection between productive processes imply a contingent and transverse vision of the organisational structure. After a synthesis about the framework of the research, we develop new main lines to clarify the numerous criterias expressing the structuring of costs in bank. Also, we have considered that a stable relation between outputs and imputs would make clear the notion of optimal operating standard cost. From 43 offices, we identify the real consumption resources process. This research show that operating standards costs are optimal when the office is considered as a whole. On the contrary, the instability of productive process don't allow to specify, locally, robust operating standards

The thesis deals with the analysis of the terms of trade and their impact on the aggregates of the national economy. The main goal was to identify issues of the terms of trade and describe their development from the point of view of total indices and indices for groups of the Standard International Trade Classification (SITC) in the Czech Republic. In the thesis were used time series analysis and measurement of dependence between two quantities. The development of terms of trade indices was highly variable, and the resulting models do not describe too much variability. Total terms of trade index was the most influenced by groups Mineral fuels, lubricants and related materials and Machinery and transport equipment. Gains (losses) from changes in the terms of trade influence the values of aggregates of national economy, their impact on the gross national income and gross disposable income decrease in time. There was also the international comparison of developments of terms of trade indices across the European Union, in the thesis. For this was used cluster analysis by SITC groups. The terms of trade index of the Czech Republic was the most similar to the terms of trade index of Slovakia. The contribution of the thesis is based on the detailed analysis of the terms of trade, which has not been performed before, and describe their relationship with other macroeconomic indicators.

The main theme of this master thesis is the design of technological process measurement and processing of measured data entered crane tracks to determine the geometric parameters of these crane tracks. Diploma thesis further describes the procedure for testing and possible rectification surveying equipment and instrumentation. The thesis is divided of 7 parts, contains 31 images, 4 graphs, 44 tables and 13 attachments. The theoretical part of this thesis contains information about several types of cranes, methods of measurement and processing, as well information on legal and technical regulations related to this topic of the thesis. The fourth and fifth parts of this thesis provides information on selected crane tracks on which the measurements were taken, the choice of methods of measurement, processing technique and the results obtained. The thesis deals with the decision-making of the expert in real estate valuation. Due to the complexity of the process and the difficulties of valuation it can be assumed that the decision will be an arduous process. It is obvious that the choice of an expert is crucial to the result of the valuation process. This topic is currently relatively little explored, and therefore the work will deal with the analysis and formulation of decision problems expert in real estate valuation. The thesis analyses the current status of forensic engineering and decision-making regarding to real estate valuation. The general decision-making process, divided into seven steps, is adapted to the requirements of expert decision-making in real estate valuation. As in the managerial decision-making process, property valuation is also divided into three levels. These three levels considered the described fundamental decision problems that lead to the formulation of the expert decision-making principles in real estate valuation. For better understanding the extensiveness of the decision-making process in the valuation of real estate the author created a decision tree respectively schemes whose functionality has been verified at the end of the thesis, exemplified with the help of a specific case study of the determined price in real estate valuation.

L'évolution de la conception classique du rôle du juge de cassation a entraîné une remise en question des sources du droit. Alors qu'au XIXème siècle le juge était considéré comme un simple lecteur de la loi, aujourd'hui il trouve sa place au sein des sources du droit. Il en résulte que lorsqu'un revirement de jurisprudence intervient, il va venir modifier l'ordonnancement juridique en y intégrant une nouvelle règle de droit, une nouvelle règle jurisprudentielle. Si la plupart du temps le revirement de jurisprudence n'emporte pas de conséquences néfastes, il arrive que dans certains cas, la sécurité juridique soit mise à mal. Il en découle que le justiciable va se voir appliquer la nouvelle règle jurisprudentielle quelle que soit la date de réalisation de l'acte ou des faits en raison de la rétroactivité inhérente à ce type de décision, sans pouvoir s'en prémunir. Le juge de cassation, conscient de ce problème, a recours à certaines méthodes afin d'annoncer un futur revirement de jurisprudence mais également d'en limiter ses effets. Cependant, ces méthodes ne s'avèrent pas pleinement efficaces et il semble nécessaire de permettre au juge de cassation de moduler dans le temps certaines de ces décisions lorsque leurs conséquences néfastes surpassent les avantages attendus du revirement de jurisprudence.

Abstract:
L’insuffisance cardiaque est un problème de santé publique dans les pays développés, touchant 1 à 2% de la population générale, mais dont la prévalence atteint 10% après 70 ans. Les progrès thérapeutiques ont permis d’améliorer le pronostic des patients, notamment ceux ayant une altération de la fonction systolique ventriculaire gauche. Les troubles du rythme sont fréquents et nécessitent une pris en charge particulière au cours des situations d’insuffisance cardiaque. Cependant, il reste des questions non résolues : comment améliorer l’efficacité du traitement de l’insuffisance cardiaque à fonction systolique préservée, comment mieux sélectionner les patients pouvant bénéficier de la prévention primaire de la mort subite par un défibrillateur implantable, les patients âgés peuvent-ils bénéficier de la même prise en charge que les patients plus jeunes, et pour finir comment améliorer les résultats de l’ablation de fibrillation auriculaire dans les situations d’insuffisance cardiaque. Nous avons mis en place une étude prospective chez des patients présentant une dysfonction diastolique pour évaluer l’intérêt de l’algorithme de surveillance de l’apnée du sommeil disponible dans des stimulateurs cardiaques. En parallèle, nous avons analysé l’impact de l’évaluation par résonance magnétique des patients candidats à un défibrillateur sur la prédiction des évènements rythmiques, mais aussi le devenir des patients de plus de 75 ans appareillés avec un système de resynchronisation cardiaque. Enfin, nous nous sommes intéressés aux résultats d’un nouveau système de cartographie électroanatomique ultra-haute densité pour guider les procédures d’ablation de troubles du rythme supraventriculaires complexes chez des patients insuffisants cardiaques comparés à des patients contrôles
Heart failure is a major public health issue in developed countries, with a prevalence of 1-2% of global population, rising to 10% after 70 years of age. Therapeutic progresses have succeeded in improving patients’ prognosis, particularly in case of reduced left ventricular ejection fraction. Rhythm abnormalities are frequent, and need special consideration in case of heart failure. Meanwhile, there are still some gaps in the evidence: heart failure with preserved systolic function is complex and difficult to treat, primary prevention of sudden cardiac death is effective but there is a need to better select candidates, whether elderly patients should be treated as younger individuals, and finally how to improve outcomes of atrial fibrillation catheter ablation. Firstly, we have conducted a prospective study to evaluate the Sleep Apnea Monitoring algorithm provided in a novel pacemaker in patients with diastolic dysfunction. Besides, we analyzed whether magnetic resonance imaging could predict cardiac outcomes in patients with an implantable cardioverter defibrillator better than echocardiography. We also reported the outcomes of the cardiac resynchronization therapy in patients ≥75 years old compared to younger patients. Finally, we studied the results of a novel ultra-high density mapping system to guide ablation procedures of complex atrial arrhythmias in heart failure patients compared to controls
