Abstract:
ABSTRACT The use of EDMS application in PT PHE ONWJ project office is considered not optimal because it is still slow in the use of EDMS applications. Therefore this study was conducted with the aim to optimize the network used to access the EDMS application on the PT PHE ONWJ project office. Network optimization in question is to build a topology in the project office of PT PHE ONWJ and apply the metro as an intermediate star topology in the project office and star topology at the headquarters so as to create a hybrid topology. Hybrid topology in question is a merger between the star topology in the central network, metro as an intermediary head office with PT PHE ONWJ project office and star topology to be built at PT ONWJ project office. It is expected that after applying the topology that has been designed to optimize the use of EDMS applications. Star topology in PT ONWJ project office and metro as intermediary 2 topology headquarters and project office produce hybrid topology. The conclusion of this research is application of topology in network can give optimization compared with without applying topology. The average result of ping when accessing EDMS application before applying hybrid topology got 392.98 ms result and after applying hybrid topology get result of 143,50 ms, so it is concluded that application of hybrid topology is better in running EDMS application. This research uses Cisco Packet Tracer as a simulation tool for implementing WI-FI technology in a star topology. WI-FI technology is a wireless communication technology that allows electronic devices to connect wirelessly to a local area network (LAN). Star topology is one of the most commonly used network topologies, especially in wide local area networks (WLAN). This research uses Cisco Packet Tracer to model and simulate a star topology in WI-FI. This framework utilizes powerful simulation tools to facilitate network management and monitoring. Star topology can improve network performance because each device has a direct communication path to the access point. This research provides information about the basic concepts of WI-FI technology, introduces star topology and explains its implementation using Cisco Packet Tracer.

Abstract:
There are many network topology designs that have emerged to fulfill the growing need for networks to provide a robust platform for a wide range of applications like running businesses and managing emergencies. Amongst the most famous network topology designs are star network, mesh network, hexagonal network, honeycomb network, etc. In a star network, a central computer is linked with various terminals and other computers over point-to-point lines. The other computers and terminals are directly connected to the central computer but not to one another. As such, any failure in the central computer will result in a failure of the entire network and computers in star network will not be able to communicate. The star topology design can be represented by a graph where vertices represent the computer nodes and edges represent the links between the computer nodes. In this paper, we study the vertex-edge-based topological descriptor for a newly designed hexagon star network.

Abstract:
In the first part of the thesis we define an automorphism φn for each star graph Stn of degree n-1, which yields permutations of labels for the edges of Stn taken from the set of integers {1,..., [n/2c]}. By decomposing these permutations into permutation cycles, we are able to identify edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles that are automorphic images of a known two-labelled Hamilton cycle H1 2(n) in Stn. The search for edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles in star graphs is important for the design of interconnection network topologies in computer science. All our results improve on the known bounds for numbers of any kind of edge-disjoint Hamilton cycles in star graphs.

Abstract:
The goal of the thesis is to design the star-based mesh topology by introducing multiple pan-coordinators (hub/switches) under a multipath-fading environment and to improve the data transaction rate of a network which usually gets worst when there is a single pan-coordinator for synchronization of devices in conventional mesh topology; also reduce the hop-count as least as possible. Most of the work has been done on NS-2 network simulator; therefore the research model which has been used here is a simulation model. Altogether 3 simulations have been done. The first scenario is done on a simplest mesh network with a single coordinator and a radio propagation model which has been used is two-ray ground reflection model. The second scenario simulation is similar to the first scenario but in-order to provide multi-path signal fading and highly congested environment the propagation model which has been used this time is shadowing model. The final simulation which has been done is of multiple-star based mesh topology it also uses the similar radio propagation model which has been defined for second scenario. An intensive performance measurement of all the three simulations has been done in terms of transactions made per-second, packet drop rate along with an analysis of packet drop. An hop-count is also measured between star and mesh topology. For multiple star based mesh topology it can be assumed if multiple stars with a routing capability can be used then nodes in a network will be synchronized or re-synchronized with least number of hops in the congested network with a near-by pan-coordinator (hub/switch). One of the major applications of this topology can be automobile manufacturing industry where alot of machines are installed in a congested network and monitoring of every area is mandatory for swift production.

A wireless sensor network based on IEEE 802.15.4 standard was developed to integrate and to retrieve information related to the power of the appliance. Through this wireless sensor network, a new intelligent home energy managing system was developed. Without making any internal configuration changes, the external power saving device developed can effectively reduce the standby power usage. We can record and analyze human habits on power usage through long-term monitoring by using this newly developed system. It was found that monitoring the standby power provides us with a means to control the appliance power usage even further. Using this control system to consequently reduce the standby power and then the whole house power usage is the long-term goal of the research along this line.

Abstract:
碩士
國立臺灣大學
資訊工程研究所
81
In this thesis, we propose two wavelength division multi- plexing (WDM) protocols based on reservation-ALOHA protocol for a very high speed optical LAN using a passive star topology. Both protocols will consider the overhead of the large propagation delay in packet transmission and reservation. In Protocol I, a station must first reserve a data slot for each packet transmission on a data channel, then tranmsits its data on that data slot of the corresponding data channel. Protocol II is an improved version of Protocol I in which a station may directly transmit its data without the reservation step such that there is no reservation delay for this packet transmission. Throughput and delay analyses are provided for both protocols. Moreover, an improved algorithm for Protocol II to dynamically adjust the number of the reservation minislots is proposed to largely reduce the delay under light loads.

Abstract:
Abstract Non-intrusive, ultrasound based, corrosion/erosion monitoring systems are becoming more commonly used and accepted as a method to improve data integrity and increase productivity for Oil & Gas asset inspections – especially with underground, insulated, offshore, and other hard-to-access thickness monitoring locations (TMLs). Example applications where installed sensor technologies have been deployed successfully include crude overhead lines, sour water service, offshore risers for sand monitoring, and midstream buried pipelines. Many additional applications of these systems are anticipated to augment static thickness monitoring, improve the accuracy of thickness data/trending, and reduce pressure-boundary penetration of conventional corrosion probes while allowing both remote and real-time monitoring where desirable. A challenge in deploying such systems in brownfield refinery applications is the ability to achieve sensor connectivity at a low cost to the plant infrastructure, allowing a dispersed amount of sensor points to exist within and among multiple process units. A wireless ultrasonic corrosion monitoring device was developed utilizing a long-range, low power wide area network (LPWAN) based on the LORA standard in a star topology. One mile connectivity was achieved in actual refinery testing. The use of a long range, star network allows multiple process units to be connected to a single gateway while preserving node battery life because nodes are not required to relay messages and only connect to the gateway directly. Cellular backhaul was used at the gateway to push data to a cloud back end for data archiving, display and analysis. This paper will review the development of the technology, key features and tradeoffs, and a review of several case studies on the deployment and use of the technology.

The proposed cinnamon bark drying machines uses Arduino Mega2560 as the main microcontroller with 4 Arduino nanoas additional microcontrollers to get star network topology and ESP8266 as a communication device. Loadcell Sensor is used as weight sensor, and DS18B20 is used as temperature sensor. There is simple Blynk application on smartphone as an IoT platform. Based on the test results it can be concluded that the cinnamon bark drying machine monitoring system using IoT technology has good performance and capabilities. It can reduce material weight down to 29,93% for the maximum temperature reached during the drying process is 55 ° C. Transmission delay from the serial monitor to Blynk IoT Platform has a poor value based on TIPHON standardization. The average delay was 1.5 seconds. However, data error rate between serial monitor and Blynk is very small. The average data error rate is 0,21%.

Abstract:
In this paper, we propose a new interconnection network topology, hierarchical hyper-star network HHS(Cn,Cn) is based on hyper-star network. Hierarchical networks based on hypercube have been previously proposed; it has been shown that these networks are superior to the basic networks, in terms of various performance including diameter, network cost, fault tolerance etc. Our results show that the proposed hierarchical hyper-star network performs very competitively in comparison to hyper-star network, HCN(n,n), and HFN(n,n) have been previously proposed. We also investigate a various topological properties of the hierarchical hyper-star network HHS(Cn,Cn) including routing algorithm, diameter, connectivity, broadcasting.

Abstract:
An optical passive-star network consists of a number of stations interconnected in a star topology by means of a central passive optical coupler. These networks offer a reliable and inexpensive means for implementation of local-area and room-area networks, multiprocessor interconnection networks, I/O buses, and workstation clusters. Optical subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) provides a means to divide the aggregate bandwidth of the optical medium in an optical passive-star network into multiple channels, each offering a fraction of the aggregate bandwidth. A network testbed to evaluate the SCM technology and its likely applications to computer-system interconnection are the subject of this paper.
