Abstract:
Faba bean gall becomes the worst problem for the crop production. The diseases can cause up to complete crop failure. Studies showed that, applications of some fungicides and seed dressings have certain effects of reducing faba bean gall diseases and increases yield. Thus, the study aims to select best effective and economical fungicide for faba bean gall disease management. The experiment was conducted at farmers’ field on hot spot areas to manage the disease using fungicides in 2019/20 cropping season. Randomized complete block design with three replications was used. Nativo SC 300, Eminant star, Rex-Dou and Mancozeb 80 WP fungicides were applied as manufacturers’ recommendations. Significant difference between plots in plant height, disease severity, area under disease progress curve, grain yield and thousand kernel weights were recorded. The highest (46.67%) disease score were recorded in control plots followed by Rex-Dou (40.0%) sprayed plots. Whereas the lowest, disease severity (15.11%) were recorded from Eminant star sprayed plots. The highest grain yield was recorded in Eminant star (3.08 ton ha-1) sprayed plot followed by Nativo Sc 300 (3.01 ton ha-1) and Mancozeb 80 WP (2.54 ton ha-1) sprayed plots respectively. Eminant star sprayed plots also gave the highest economic benefit ETB (102770.0) and marginal rate of return (1678.46) followed by Nativo Sc 300 with net benefit of ETB (99190.0) and a marginal rate of return (925.40) were received. Pod per plant was not showed significant difference between plots.

"The relative feeding value of a new pasture legume, eastern star clover (Trifolium dasyurum), compared with subterranean clover (Trifolium subterraneum)." Australian Journal of Agricultural Research 56, no. 6 (2005): 637. http://dx.doi.org/10.1071/ar04271.

Abstract:
An accession of eastern star clover (Trifolium dasyurum C. Presl.), a new species to agriculture, has been identified by the National Annual Pasture Legume Improvement Program for commercial release in Australia. This paper reports the findings of an experiment designed to assess the feeding value of eastern star clover compared with a commercial cultivar of subterranean clover (T. subterraneum L. cv. Dalkeith). The hypothesis tested in this experiment is that sheep grazing eastern star clover will have similar growth rates, condition scores, and wool production to sheep grazing subterranean clover. Additionally, it is hypothesised that the sheep grazing the different clover species will have similar health and meat quality. The relative feeding value of the 2 clover species was tested using 14-month-old Merino wethers, grazing 8 by 0.5 ha plots (4 of each species). Stocking rates were such that herbage mass availability would not have limited feed intake. Liveweight, wool growth, and animal health were monitored. After 10 weeks of grazing, 2 animals from each plot were slaughtered for sensory analysis of meat. Although there were generally no differences in liveweight change, condition, or wool growth between sheep grazing eastern star or subterranean clovers, sheep in the subterranean clover plots grew faster during the first month of grazing. There were no differences in meat eating quality (tenderness, juiciness, or flavour), animal health, or vegetable matter contamination of wool. The data suggest that the clovers had the same relative feeding value despite herbage mass from the eastern star clover plots having lower in vitro digestibility, crude protein, and higher fibre than herbage mass from the subterranean clover plots. Given that there was a minimum of 1000 kg/ha of herbage mass in the plots, it is likely that sheep gazing the two clovers were able to maintain the same weight by selecting the high quality components of the pasture. Differences in plant quality are associated with differences in reproductive strategies of the clovers.

Abstract:
The central regions of star-forming barred spiral galaxies can be devoid of star formation because of the redistribution of gas along the length of the bar. However, there can be gas outside the length of the bar that can host star formation. We study a sample of barred disc galaxies in the local Universe with an aim to discriminate between centrally quenched and globally quenched galaxies based on their positions on star-formation-rate–stellar mass (SFR−M⋆) plots and to find a connection between the SFR of quenched galaxies and the length of their bar. We classified barred galaxies as centrally quenched and globally quenched based on their position on SFR−M⋆ plots, with SFRs derived from Hα flux and spectral energy distribution fits on combined ultraviolet and optical flux. We selected galaxies as passive based on the distance from the main sequence relation. From a total 2514 barred galaxies studied here, we present 651 with suppressed star formation in their central region but hosting star formation outside. We also find a possible correlation between bar length and SFR for the galaxies that are fully quenched because of the stellar bar.

Abstract:
To develop eco-friendly alternative control strategies for medfly, mass trapping trials were conducted in the central Morocco during the crop season 2016. Two control methods, mass trapping and the attract-and-kill technique were compared for the control of medfly on two peach varieties (?Rome Star? and ?Ryan Sun?) in Sefou district. For mass trapping, 62 traps/1.23 ha of MagnetTMMed type baited with ammonium acetate, trimethylamine, putrescine and 0.01 g of deltamethrin were installed on both varieties. In plots testing the attract-and-kill technique, treatments with malathion in mixture with protein hydrolyzate were applied to straw tufts attached to branches of the same varieties whenever 1 fly was caught on a Trimedlure trap installed at the center of each plot. The results showed that the number of flies captured by mass trapping reached 508 and 489 adults on ?Rome Star? and ?Ryan Sun?, respectively. The average number varied from 1 to 3 adults/trap/day, depending on the date of capture and the variety, and females accounted for 62-100% of total caught flies. In plots protected by the attract-and-kill technique, and taking into account the threshold adopted by the farm, 11 and 15 treatments were carried out respectively on the ?Ryan Sun? and ?Rome Star? varieties. Overall, infestation rates in plots did not exceed 0.3% before or at harvest with mass trapping versus 0.9% with the attract-and-kill technique. On fruit dropped on the ground, the infestation rate did not exceed 4% in mass trapping, compared to 11.5% in the chemically treated plots. Mass trapping was therefore proved to be an effective and eco-friendly tool for managing medfly on peach fruit.

Abstract:
<p>In this thesis, a 3D approach to visualize software metrics is presented. Software metrics are attributes of a piece of software or its specification. They generally contain a set of multivariate time-series data and can be displayed, for example, as a Kiviat diagram consisting of axes and polylines. The aim of this work is to design a Win32 application that can load multivariate time-series data from a file and visualize it as an interactive 3D Kiviat diagram.</p><p>There has been an approach that can display software metrics by using 2D Kiviat diagrams, but there are still some drawbacks on it. Since a better visualization of software metrics can help the developer to control the quality of software products more easily, this thesis improved the existing approach by extending 2D Kiviat diagram to 3D Kiviat diagram.</p>

Abstract:
Conservation of natural habitats and planting wildflower plots are two commonly promoted tactics to enhance pollination services and biological control of crop pests, which are ecosystem services that can improve agricultural outputs. There are several programs at various levels of government in the United States that landowners can use to defray the costs of implementing these conservation strategies. Studies of European Agricultural Environmental Schemes have shown these tactics to have positive outcomes for crop production. However, real-world applications of cost-sharing programs have not been evaluated in the United States on pollination services and biological control. Furthermore, these tactics may inadvertently perform ecosystem disservices, like increasing crop pests or creating habitat for disease vectors. In this study, we evaluated the effects of natural habit and wildflower plots on biological control, pollination services, bee communities, and tick populations in Eastern Virginia and Maryland. This research was conducted on 22 farms. 10 of these farms had wildflower plots that were designed by Natural Resource Conservation Service personnel, and implemented by cooperating farmers. Collards, strawberries, tomatoes, and squash were used as model systems. We measured pest density, sentinel egg predation, crop damage, seed pollination, biomass production, marketable crop yield, sampled the bee community, and recorded tick abundance in wildflower plots. Many of the measures of biological control and pollination services had idiosyncratic results in regards to the wildflower plots and natural habit in the landscape. However, the proportion of high quality yield for all four crops increased with increasing natural habitat in the landscape. Bee communities between sites with and without wildflower plots were not different. Bee abundance did increase at wildflower sites when natural habitat comprised a certain proportion of the habitat around the site. Ticks were sampled from wildflower plantings, but not in greater abundance compared to field margins. In this study, the effects of wildflower plots were overshadowed by the landscape effects of natural habitat. Abstract:
Due to the finite speed of light and a vast, expanding universe, telescopes are just now receiving the light emitted by galaxies as they were forming in the very early universe. The light from these galaxies has been redshifted (stretched to longer, redder wavelengths) as a result of its journey through expanding space. Using sophisticated techniques and exceptional multi-wavelength optical and infrared data, we isolate a population of 378 galaxies in the process of formation when the Universe was only two billion years old. By matching the distinctive properties of the light spectra of these galaxies to models, the redshift, age, dust content, star formation rate and total stellar mass of each galaxy are determined. Comparing our results to similar surveys of galaxy populations at other redshifts, a picture emerges of the growth and evolution of massive, star-forming galaxies over the course of billions of years.

Full text
Abstract:

Abstract:
Då Boverket inte har ljudkrav på fasad för hotell, skapar detta en möjlighet att kunna bygga ett hotell på Årstafältet.<br>One major problem today in Stockholm City is to be able to build functional housing and offices becuase of the impact from the noise large interchanges distribute in the City. In order to build housing and offices it is important to achieve the requirements that Boverkets Byggregler, which is the Swedish rules for constructions. The county in Stockholm has to plan and observe the noise exposed properties in the inner City. One obstacle to build more housing and offices which the city needs, is the rules and demands on the areas but also the growth of the traffic in Stockholm city. This problem results for increased noiselevels which also affects the acoustic comfort for housig and offices. To be able to solve the problem for the challenges that is caused by the lack of housing in Stockholm, hotels can be built on these areas that are located close to traffic in the city. In order to solve this problem a hotel that screen the exessive noise towards residental areas can be a solution, because Boverket does not require any guidelines and regulations for noise on hotel constructions. The fact that hotels can be built on properties that is close to the traffic can benefit the social development of the city. A hotel can open opportunities for different people and groups to meet in the same point which can be used to increase the city´s social development. The tourism in Stockholm City is developing a lot today and more visitors visits the city day by day. The increase of visitors creates challenges for the range of hotels in the city. Utilizing areas in the inner city of Stockholm and urban areas that are exposed to noise from traffic is an advantage to build a hotel since Boverket does not require any benchmarks for noise. To make use of these kinds of properties, can also increase the range of hotels for the visitors in the city. This project will present a hotel that is located in Årstafältet in the southern part of Stockholm City. Årstafältet is a place that is exposed to high noise because of the highway on Huddingevägen that passes through the place. The problem with the location is the traffic noise which has a negative effect on housing constructions in the area. The noise problem in the area gives the chosen property good conditions for building a hotel and allows the residents close to the hotel property, to be less affected by the noise level coming from the traffic jam.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The Youth Dialogue about Feast of the Nativity from a cycle “Rhymed and not Rhymed Poems” from the manuscript collection by T.F. Bolshakov (RSL. F. 37. No. 88) refers to the poems in the collection on the biblical plots. The Dialogue, presumably dated to the 17th century, is a small rhymed poem with elements of action, divided into lines of poetry and played by roles by two youths ‘little yours’ to the listening ‘faithful virgins’. The Dialogue was clearly intended for a listener or spectator and, possibly, was shown on a stage or in a church as an action in which passages from the Gospel were read, represented in persons. The stage character of The Dialogue is indicated by an appeal to the audience, containing an invitation to listen to the story, and in a spectacular manner of a riddle, clearly with the aim of interest (intrigue) the audience. There are elements of artistic expressiveness in The Dialogue which gives dynamics and poetry to the text and, possibly, in order to impress the audience. Rapid change of verbs while reading could give an internal dynamics to the passage and even more captivate the audience. The Dialogue contains traditional Christmas attributes (star, myrrh, censer, angels), quotes from the Psalter, but the text doesn’t convey exactly the Gospel, but represents a poetic interpretation of Christmas. The Dialogue contains a linguistic expressiveness which is given by emotional elements (description of Herod’s intentions and speech expressiveness of the Mother of God), artistically meaningful persistent evangelical images (‘a pure dove,’ ‘stars from heaven’). The speech of the two youths is also expressive, in which some differences are also guessed (the speech of the first is more descriptive, the speech of the second is more graphic). All this makes it possible to talk about the elements of artistic expression inherent in The Youth Dialogue about Feast of the Nativity.

Abstract:
In postwar Hollywood, mobsters, moguls, and movie stars commingled frequently and often carelessly. Professional encounters were commonplace given the mob’s involvement in the organization of the movie industry’s labor force. Film workers and gangsters routinely crossed paths at nightclubs, bars, clandestine gambling establishments, and private parties where interactions were complicated by alcohol and illicit drugs, human trafficking (prostitution) and the occasional “badger” or blackmail plot. The moral here is fairly simple, at least in retrospect. The movie stars -- and circling about them the many movie aspirants, wannabes, and sycophants -- were always playing at things, trying on roles, aliases, lovers, identities, fads. But the gangsters in the strictest sense of the expression “meant business.” And that was something folks who trucked in the world of make believe failed to appreciate and understand.

Abstract:
The present investigation scrutinizes the role of wt.% of WC (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2%), operating temperature (50, 100, 150, 200 and 250°C) and load (20, 30 and 40N) on wear rate and coefficient of friction (COF) of Mg-WC nanocomposites. A multilevel full factorial design is considered to optimize the response variables. Mg-WC nanocomposites are synthesized through ultrasonic vibration assisted stir casting method. Tribological tests are performed in a pin-on-disk tribotester at dry sliding condition. Optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM) are used to visualize the microstructural phases and distribution of reinforcements respectively. Main effect plots and interaction plots are analyzed to find the effect of selected parameters and their interactions. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) is also carried out for response variables to find the significant parameters. Linear regression equations are also generated to relate the output and input parameters. Worn surfaces are studied with the help of SEM images to examine the wear mechanisms.

Abstract:
Smith’s chapter uses My Love Has Been Burning (Waga koi wa moenu, Mizoguchi Kenji, 1949) as a case-study for an analysis of Tanaka’s embodiment of feminine subjectivity. Grounded by an examination of the postwar gender reforms and their application, he argues that Tanaka and Mizoguchi’s creative partnership is complex to define politically, often expressing conflicting ideas on gender equality which in turn reflected the moral, social and practical paradigms which underpinned gender politics in Japan. Although produced in the postwar period, the film’s plot is set in the Meiji era and the chapter bridges these crucial periods in the history of Japanese women, using Tanaka’s star image to illuminate ideological connotations within both settings. The close reading of Tanaka’s feminist character in the film complicates the critical conception of her star persona as being tied to the Japanese stereotype of yamato nadeshiko - a type of conservative, restrained, traditional femininity.

Abstract:
This paper investigates the effect of air inlet temperature on the auto-ignition of fuels that have different CN and volatility in a single cylinder diesel engine. The inlet air temperature is varied over a range of 30°C to 110°C. The fuels used are ultra-low-sulfur-diesel (ULSD), JP-8 (two blends with CN 44.1 &amp; 31) and F-T SPK. Detailed analysis is made of the rate of heat release during the ignition delay period, to determine the effect of fuel volatility and CN on the auto-ignition process. A STAR-CD CFD model is applied to simulate the spray behavior and gain more insight into the processes that immediately follow the fuel injection including evaporation, start of exothermic reactions and the early stages of combustion. The mole fractions of different species are determined during the ignition delay period and their contribution in the auto-ignition process is examined. Arrhenius plots are developed to calculate the global activation energy for the auto-ignition reactions of these fuels. Correlations are developed for the ID and the mean air temperature and pressure.

Abstract:
Abstract In this paper, we apply a CFD computer code to study the hydrodynamic behavior of a stand-alone cylinder and a dual coaxial-cylinder system (DCCS) via free-decay motion tests. The geometric proportions of a stand-alone cylinder and the inner and outer cylinder of the DCCS are chosen to be the same as those in [1] and [2], respectively, as ocean wave-energy converter (WEC) devices. Overset mesh based on the commercial code ‘Star-CCM+ 11’ is used to simulate the free-decay motion of the two systems. Five parameters chosen for the CFD implementation are: turbulence model, initial displacement, time step, number of prism layers and mesh size. Results obtained from using different values of these parameters are compared so as to confirm the validity of choices made. The hydrodynamic performance of the stand-alone cylinder and outer cylinder in the DCCS are compared with the experimental results to assess and validate the CFD models. In addition, the heave hydrodynamic coefficients, namely, the added mass and total damping, and ‘resonance’ frequency of the stand-alone cylinder and those of the inner cylinder of the DCCS, with the outer cylinder being fixed, are obtained by using the CFD procedure. The hydrodynamic coefficients of another stand-alone cylinder with the same dimensions as the inner cylinder of the dual-coaxial cylinder are also obtained by simulations. The vorticity-contour plots for the stand-alone cylinder and the outer cylinder in the DCCS in free-decay motion are presented and analyzed. Finally, the results of the three cases are compared to examine the effect of the outer cylinder on the heave hydrodynamic coefficients of the inner cylinder.

Abstract:
Abstract Market-induced production shut-downs and restarts offer us an opportunity to gather step-rate and shut-in data for pressure transient analysis (PTA) and rate transient analysis (RTA). In this study, we present a unified transient analysis (UTA) to combine PTA and RTA in a single framework. In this new approach continuous production data, step-rate data, shut-in data and re-start data can be visualized and analyzed in a single superposition plot, which can be used to estimate both Afk and infer formation pore pressure in a holistic manner by utilizing all available data. Most importantly, we show that traditional log-log and square root of time plots can lead to false interpretation of the termination of linear-flow or power-law behavior. Field cases are presented to demonstrate the superiority of the newly introduced superposition plot, along with discussion on the calibration of long-term bottom-hole pressure with short-term measurements.

Abstract:
Friction stir forming utilizes a friction stirring action to soften and extrude a base material into a cavity in a substrate material thereby forming a joint. In this research, Abaqus software was used to model the process in order to understand the key joint features of interest and provide direction for experimental optimization. A three dimensional, thermo-mechanical finite element model was developed and applied to simulate the process and obtain detailed stress and temperature distribution plots. Adaptive mesh and contact features were utilized for large deformation of the aluminum work material. It was found that the model accurately predicted the shape of the joint and flash extrusion during the process. The maximum temperature was found at the outer radius of the tool, but was much lower than temperatures in friction stir welding.

Abstract:
Many of the agricultural plots within Trinidad and Tobago remain in a state of dormancy due to a critical lack of infrastructure needed for their development. This has contributed to the increasing food import bill which was some TT$5.6 billion over the last couple of years. This overall crop irrigation project aims at assisting the farmers in setting up a proper infrastructure that will utilize natural resources. The lack of pipe water will be substituted by rainwater capture, storage and distribution via drip irrigation. The lack of power for water distribution by irrigation will be obtained by the use of solar power for the pumps. The project will be done in phases. This phase involved at creating a smart estimator to determine the water requirement and the planting land area for the 2-acre plot when the number of plants, type of plants, and the month in which the farmer chooses to start planting are chosen. It will estimate the water storage volume required for the various crops chosen based on the rainfall patterns, crop cycle and the crop water requirement. These output estimates will be based on the land area input, estimated water storage size, estimated tool shed size and produce storage area, and the type or types of crops chosen to farm by the farmer for the plot. The input parameters in the estimator can then be varied by the farmer, to help find an estimated or optimum balance of the number and type of crops, the planting land area, and the water captured and stored, based on the rainfall patterns and the unused land area. The outputs required can be similarly obtained through the use of existing models and software packages, but the tools are not ‘Farmer User Friendly and readily available’.
