Abstract This paper studies analytic functions f defined on the open unit disk of the complex plane for which f/g and (1 + z)g/z are both functions with positive real part for some analytic function g. We determine radius constants of these functions to belong to classes of strong starlike functions, starlike functions of order α, parabolic starlike functions, as well as to the classes of starlike functions associated with lemniscate of Bernoulli, cardioid, lune, reverse lemniscate, sine function, exponential function and a particular rational function. The results obtained are sharp.

The purpose of the article is to introduce and explore a wide class of doubly close-to-starlike functions, while demonstrating a unified approach to solving a certain range of extreme problems. The article defines a reference function of a general form – a starlike function, on the basis of which classes of close-to-starlike and doubly close-to-starlike functions can be constructed. On the basis of a general support function containing three parameters and new estimates of analytical functions, a generalization of various classes of close-to-starlike and doubly close-to-starlike functions is i

The aim of this particular article is at studying a holomorphic function f defined on the open-unit disc D = z ∈ ℂ : z < 1 for which the below subordination relation holds z f ′ z / f z ≺ q 0 z = 1 + tan h z . The class of such functions is denoted by S tan h ∗ . Abstract. To obtain the main result of the present paper, we use the technique of differential superordination. As special cases of our main result, we obtain sufficient conditions for f ∈ A to be φ−like, parabolic φ−like, starlike, parabolic starlike, close-to-convex and uniform close-to-convex. We also obtain sandwich-type results regarding these functions. For demonstration of the results, we have plotted the images of open unit disk under certain functions using Mathematica 7.0. In the first half of this work, titin's role in cardiac function was studied using intact cardiac myocytes. The development of a carbon fiber based cell-attachment system allowed diastolic and systolic function of the isolated intact myocyte to be investigated. Addition of actomyosin inhibitor to the intact myocyte revealed that the majority of the cell's diastolic stiffness is due to titin but that actomyosin interaction exists as well and contributes ~ 30% of total diastolic stiffness. ‘Crystalloid’ refers to solutions of crystalline substances that can pass through a semipermeable membrane and are distributed widely in body fluid compartments. The conventional Starling model predicts transvascular exchange based on the net balance of opposing hydrostatic and oncotic forces. Based on this model, colloids might be considered superior resuscitative fluids. However, observations of fluid behaviour during critical illness are not consistent with such predictions. Large randomized controlled studies have consistently found that colloids offer no survival advantage relative to cry

AbstractThe interaction between the return function of the circulation and cardiac function was described by Guyton. In doing so, Guyton developed a model incorporating the works of Starling and Frank with his own work. The Guytonian model provides a simple framework for understanding the possible effects of fluid boluses or vasoactive medications on various macro-hemodynamic parameters. In this chapter, we describe briefly the Guytonian model of circulation.
